They usually have a good selection of beer, although recently I haven't been able to find my favorite, traveler beer. The staff is always very friendly! Harris Teeter is my go to as far as grocery stores go in Reston. I'm usually here once or twice a week. The parking lot is usually quite busy but once you're inside things move smoothly. The staff is always willing helpful especially if you're looking for fresh meats or fish. They have a sandwich bar that gets pretty packed around lunch time but the quality is far above a regular subway for example. Worth the wait and price. I will say that the prices are a bit escalated, compared to Giant or Shoppers but I think what you get in service and quality/freshness more than makes up for the difference. I used to be my favorite store, but they are renovating and it is the worst, you can't find anything in this store, the labels are all wrong and most of the employees don't know where anything is either! The orange chicken was old and dried out at the food bar. I asked if they had more chicken because the scant amount left had obviously been sitting there for a while. The employee remarked that the orange chicken was "supposed to be dry" and walked away. Horrible customer service to say the least. read more

I once lost my keys in this store (my car, office, house, mailbox keys- you name it and it was on the same lanyard!). The staff worked together with me to search for them. Then when I gave up and went home (literally had to break into my own house), they called me and told me they found them! I have never been so relieved in my life lol. I couldnt go past the product department to shop in this store because of the loud, screaming vocal music and commercials amplified throughout the store. People have music with them in their phones, if they want to listen to music, they can listen to any style and volume they prefer. please dont force that screaming chaotic noise on everyone. read more

The same young man at the pizza station doesn't read my simple notes to omit 1 topping and has messed up my order 2 times in a row. This isn't even counting the time when they gave my pizza to someone else and I had to wait for them to remake it. The second time he messed up the order he still tried to sell me the pizza by telling me that he tried to pick off most of the green peppers after the pizza was baked. Yuck. I don't think he realizes that people can have allergic reactions and picking off ingredients doesn't work. I spoke to the manager who didn't do anything. Through the COVID19 crisis Roger and his team have been exceptional. They worked hard to restock the inventory they received. Staff was always willing to help. Karl and all the guys in the meat department went above and beyond to take care of our needs. No crisis in Reston if you went to Harris Teeter SpectrumCenter. Allison is spot on - Professional, calm, so helpful, and always smiling. This by far is the best grocery store in Reston. I like this location very much mostly because of customer service they provide. I mean it's a grocery store and it's difficult to write a full review on a 2-5 mins interaction but I am a regular here and most of times I am very pleased with cashiers who is assisting me with transactions. So friendly and pleasant, definitely well trained and stands out from many other grocery stores in the area. The staff is friendly and the produce is OK--not terrible, not great--but my biggest pet peeve concerns the way they've reorganized their food and drink items on the shelves. I always can't find at least one thing. I gave up on plain cubed bread for stuffing. I couldn't find it and the customer service person couldn't find the plain version either. So I just went to Giants. Oh well. And I ALWAYS bump into someone who asks me if I know where something is. For example, olive oil used to be with vinegar, which makes sense. Now it's in baking. Went there just to browse and get a couple things and ended up buying more than I needed! (hate when that happens but oh well). All of the produce looked super fresh and ripe. The flowers were soo pretty and fully bloomed, made me want to just randomly buy some, but I resisted. The mini sushi section looked really tasty and fresh but they didn't have the spicy salmon roll :( waaahh! But ultimately it was pretty decent. It's a 24-hour mega grocery store, what's not to love? Customer service has always been great. Everyone always seems to know exactly where everything is in the store. It's crazy. I come in here so much some of the cashiers know me by name. I love the hot bar for lunch. Quick, convenient, and great selection. Come in before noon to avoid crazy lunchtime lines. read more

Harris Teeter should be ashamed of the poor quality of "fresh" vegetables and fruits sold from the Reston area market. Oftentimes, simple items such as herbs are depleted or past their prime, and vegetables in stock are below par. Unfortunately, the broccoli we purchased for tonight's dinner is another example. This is the best grocery store around. Face it, food items are pretty similar wherever you go, and prices tend to be similar too. So, often, it's the people that make the difference. And at this Harris Teeter that is so true and has been from the day they first opened. Their staff are super helpful and nice. I have never had a bad experience there. And now, they have Boars Head Deli meats! As far as produce goes, again, just ask one of their (always present) produce guys. They'll slice fruit for you to taste before you buy, and split a head of cabbage for you so you don't have to buy the whole thing. The flower people are helpful too - want an arrangement that they don't have already made? No problem, they'll put it together for you while you shop. read more

I love Harris Teeter! 99.9% of the employees are wonderful (Yesha is the best!) One time, I couldn't find a certain spice, and an employee searched the store with a fine toothed comb to try to find it for me. And when he couldn't find it for me, he searched on his own Ipad to find me a reasonable substitute! It's this attention to detail that makes this store a pleasure to shop. They have really outdone themselves in the organic market-they have a big selection of high quality organic products and even went on sale an entire month (which is something I've never seen any other commercial and conventional grocery chain do!) The store is always clean, and their desserts are yummy (although I was told they don't do a lot of in-house baking, to my surprise!) The store is always bright and cheerful and they stock a lot of seasonal gems too. read more

I'm very impressed with Harris Teeter - there isn't anything like it in Hawaii. I love the selection of organic foods and the deli has a huge selection. Wow, what a pleasant surprise! We just moved into the area and I've shopped here twice. This place is huge! We're foodies, and cook all kinds of cuisines. I can find almost everything I need here, and it's often on sale! Organic produce? check! Huge wine selection? check! International food section? check! Good selection of fresh seafood? check! Oh, and would they happen to have a good quality baking sheet pan? check, and 40% off! I can't believe we lucked out with such a great "daily groceries" store within walking distance. Very clean; wide aisles; well-mannered workers (would have liked to hear less of one's questioning of another's "bad habits" while I was checking out though...). Parking congestion seems to be hit or miss (zoo-y once, free and clear another time - - both at lunchtime on a weekday). Get the VIC card and you'll save money. read more

Last week I went to this store and their registers went down for a half hour while I waited for them to fix the system. Today I went in and paid with cash at the self check out. The machine ate my two 5 dollar bills and then didn't credit me. The manager came over and after some discussion said "we'll get this" like I was the one who messed up the transaction! Honestly I don't think he believed that I had input the money. There is always some sort of chaos there which is a shame since the food selection is so great. The "HT Trader" brand (Harris Teeter private label) of jams and preserves are some of the best available anywhere..they contain NO high fructose corn syrup...and are often on sale... HT also manages to have some of the best sales on quality beef, and their deli selection is excellent. Also, their customer service is the best. Awesome store, with awesome employees!! Has almost everything you need, and is open 24/7, so it's AMAZING for those late night, last minute runs!! My husband's two favorite places here are the deli and the cheese stand. They have an awesome selection of fresh cheese, and the ladies at the deli are super sweet, they are always willing to help us, even after they've closed for the evening!! Nice store, prices are inline with Giant and Safeway, but the store is much cleaner than any Giant or Safeway. There are usually plenty of friendly staff on hand. I have seen a little slippage since Kroger purchased HT. The Krogers I am familiar with are usually like Safeway - dirty and understaffed. Seems that HT has cut back on staffing man hours as I notice more out of stocks than before. Still better than the other full sized grocery stores in Reston. read more

I don't really know why I like Harris Teeter so much because I never thought i'd "prefer" any type of grocery store....it's the kind of thing that I pretty much assumed I'd just go with whatever is closest to me. Not the case with Harris Teeter! There's just something about it that is cool! They have a lot of produce, and very fresh. They have sushi and a great selection of deli meats, tremendous beer/wine selection, and just overall rocks. I don't know how much you can say about a grocery store, but if you're faced with the choice between Giant, Safeway, or Harris Teeter....no question you should go with HT! It might be a bit more expensive than your average grocery store, but you just enjoy shopping there. That's it....HT makes shopping an enjoyable experience! The same cannot be said for the depressing, flourescence of Safeway or Giant, even though they have flourescent lights! How's that for mind games. read more
