Beware - Harrison moving that has been a local favorite is no more. Harrison's moving was acquired by Apple Moving some time ago, but the experience I had with Harrison's by Apple this past month was NOT up to standard. A few of my complaints, which 30 days later, I'm still fighting for resolution. First, the crew took a break during my move which is totally acceptable, but they sat on the tailgate of the truck to smoke with my belongings half loaded into the truck. I'm not a smoker myself so did not appreciate that. Second, my tv was not properly packed. My quote included tv boxes for extra protection, but on move day they wrapped my tv in a blanket and moved. As a result, our 65 inch TV was severly damaged. It no longer works and the company at first tried to pay $30. I'm still fighting for a resolution, but I would highly discourage anyone from using Harrison by Apple Moving because the attention to detail and care that I previously experienced is gone. I also am dealing with a corporation based in Texas. Update- One day after posting, I was called by the vp of sales and marketing. He was friendly and shared his disappointment. My claim was settled. This service was TERRIBLE! Would not recommend to my worst enemy. They use contractors that don't care about your goods, they complain about putting disassembled goods back together, and ignore claims about destroyed goods. I'll just give you the lowlights. - Needed to use MY tools (without asking) to assemble goods - Hid broken items behind other things in my garage - Put clearly marked boxes in wrong rooms - Unpacked my silverware and dishes into the sink when counters were clear - Did not return a tool that was borrowed to do their job - At one point refused todo e items to correct room - Contractors heard all day talking bad about the supervisor from the company read more

There isn't a star low enough on this scale. I will never use this company again and will make it a mission to ensure no one else uses them. Between switching trucks on us between pick up and delivery, losing furniture, damaging furniture, and destroying family pieces it was the worst experience ever. To add insult to injury, we are receiving a check for $153 for damages when the claim was much higher. Not sure how they sleep at night. The movers were prompt, pleasant, & efficient. The company was not pushy or rude & I did not feel pressured to go with them. There was no up charge, like some moving companies have been known to do. Unreliable. The crew was courteous on the household goods delivery, but the scheduling was a failure when it came to picking up debris. How would you like to be told to wait at home in uncertain weather between 8am and 5pm for a pickup, and they never come? Not even the courtesy of a phone call saying that something went wrong. If you can't trust a MOVING company to do something as simple as pick up debris on the date they said they would, why would you entrust them to move or store your valuable items? I will never recommend this company to anyone moving especially when you are in a time crunch. I was told prior that they would pack everything up , that we didn't have to touch a thing only what we were taking with us to keep it Ina separate room. They came to move us and was in the house after the two women came maybe 20 minutes before they found numerous reasons why they wouldn't be able to move us. The women broke numerous things that could not be replaced bc they were things left from a great grandmother. I was so frustrated with the entire situation that they left me in. Terrible experience with moving from Atlanta to Chesapeake was lied to daily by Tony Wasco when my furniture would arrive finally I had to show up to there office when the Vice President JT did make some effort to get a team together to deliver my furniture sooner than the 7 day gap that Tony kept changing ! Then all my furniture was just about damaged from being off loaded and reloaded so many times my Television was broken /smashed because it was not properly packed along with other items that are irreplaceable!!! It hurts to even give them one star....no wonder they have so many ugly reviews I found out why today! What a start to my day. My new neighbors delivery finally arrived. The husband is on his way from FL he went and picked up his dog that arrived from Puerto Rico. Their delivery for all their furniture and personal effects just arrived from Puerto Rico. Being delivered by Harrison Moving. The only one at the house was Val who has Alzheimer's. Trying to help and keep her from stressing when asked where do things go I tried to tell them which room because they had their boxes marked. She has no idea or can think that clearly or quickly. I was informed in a manner that was unbelievable they could not and would let me instruct them. I informed them her husband had told me where most of it goes. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! We moved from Virginia to Oregon. Our furniture was severely damaged by water (a leaky truck?) and the damage hidden by the blankets the driver left on the furniture as a "favor" to us--our things were going into a storage unit and the blankets were to "protect them." Filing a claim has been nerve-racking. The woman we dealt with was rude, condescending, questioned the value of our antiques, etc! We have contacted the president and received no response. My family has been held hostage by Harrison's! Customer service is nonexistent - laid back attitude about being excessively late! I'm not talking about hours here I'm talking DAYS and approaching a week late to arrive with a household of possessions! No thanks. The company's survey rep came to our house, did a complete estimate and arranged a date for pick-up. When we hadn't heard anything more from them, we called and were informed "Oh we didn't hear anything from you so we cancelled the appointment." Once we replied that we were unaware that we had to call and confirm an appointment, the answer was, "Well, we still have that date available, but as this is now a last-minute appointment, the price has to increase." The crew showed up late and short-handed. They took almost 15 hours to load one truck. The return of our household goods found several nicks, dents, and one broken antique lamp shade. The complaint went nowhere, and Harrison's refused to compensate us for the damage. Never/Never/Never. read more

This Is by far the worst moving company I have ever dealt with. We signed a contact for the job for a move and planned our cable company appts around the schedule. They arrived 2 hours late took a bunch of breaks causing a unplanned run to the new place to deliver the TV so that it could be hooked up. They miked the time and way went over the estimated time and cost that we were quoted. Since this was at no fault of our own and due to the late arrival of the movers I had asked if Harrison's would consider splitting the difference in the cost with us. They refused. Poor estimate, lazy and slow workers that are likely told to work slow so that they bilked the customer for more money. Bad company would never use them again. I never write a review or complain when things don't go smoothly. Our move was less than 3 miles and was a disaster. The folks we just purchased the home from used Harrison's and they had sent two smaller trucks for the move. For ours, they used a Mac truck. They had to park it about an 1/8th of a mile away on another street. Two of four movers carried one stuffed animal at a time and were on their phones the majority of the time. When we called to complain, they promised two additional movers which never showed up until then end of the move. I then called to say the 200$ and hour was unfair didn't want to pay it. They stopped moving and threatened to take my daughters crib with them! Obviously, with my wife crying in the drive way i paid it. I have never felt so shaken down in my life. Harrisons moving delivered half of my goods to someone elses house.. They acknowledge it was their fault and offered me a reimbursement of $0. They say they are still looking for the stuff... Yet when i spoke to them on the phone they told me who they delivered it to. They have no desire to help me since they have already been paid by the military for my move. They are taking their sweet time meanwhile half of my house hold is somewhere else.. including 2 40" LCDs and a custom made bar globe. read more

A one star review is honestly a compliment for the service we received today. Our 0900 appointment arrived at 1130. The men moving our things walked right in the door past my pregnant wife without even introducing themselves or acknowledging she was standing there holding the door for them. Following numerous calls in advance from them to get the specific dimensions of our outdoor rec equipment, they still failed to bring the correct boxes and then argued with us when we questioned if brown paper was enough to protect thousands of dollars worth of equipment from bouncing around unsecured in the back of a trailer to their warehouse where we wouldn't be able to observe the quality of the actual overseas packaging. Not all of our requested items were able to be sent because they failed to bring the correct amount of overseas shipment crates, thus put us in a position where we has to choose what stayed and went. Our floors and doorways wern't covered at all and now have large scratches and dings all over. We had to ask multiple times for our furniture to be completely wrapped in paper because they would try to ship it with the backs, top, or other parts exposed and even after asking they would make snarty remarks while throwing their hands up or wouldn't even acknowledge us when we voiced our concerns. Our things were damaged right in front of us and the boxes were kicked, shoved, and beaten into place. The shipment crates were in such terrible condition that the side walls were falling off and the corners were broken off and other pieces were cracked. The condition is so bad that they have to use straps at the warehouse to pull the box together enough to seal it's bowing walls. 0 out of 5 of our crates were in good enough condition to seal them in front of us. They are all being brought back to the warehouse in order to be reconstructed and hopefully serviceable enough to survive the shipment. So some key takeaways from this outstanding company is they won't come on time, will not be prepared, you will be disrespected the entire time, your things will get broken and treated poorly, and the security or your items is non-existent. At this point, we have zero faith that the containers will even make it to the destination and if they do by some grace, they'll be missing items or full of damaged goods. If you really care about your things do not use this company. You'll be better off setting your house ablaze and giving your precious items a proper death. read more

Hands down worst moving experience in 23 years of military service. 1) Packers/loaders damaged the front brick of my house in Virginia (which Harrison's promised they would repair... still not fixed). My wife and I love this house; thank you, Harirson's. Every time I look at the damaged brick I will think of you. 2) Packers packed a larger High Value painting in with another smaller painting. Sharp metal frame on small painting was packed against the canvas of the other one. Who does this? 3) TV was shipped in original (VIZIO brand) packaging, to include box and original Styrofoam. TV arrives, unpacked, TV screen powers on to reveal screen was damaged somewhere in transit (?). 4) Absolute lack of communication with the customer and internally with their own staff. When schedule changes occurred, they didn't notify me. First scheduled day of offload was cancelled ("our driver quit"), no one called (I had to call to find out). Second promised day for offload was scheduled for Wednesday the following week, driver calls me Monday morning at 8 AM and says "I'll be at your house (in FL) in two hours." Thanks for the heads up. 5) Driver contracted workers to unload only, not "contracted to unpack". Then tries to tell me that "military moves are not [usually] unpacks," which is completely false. Service members have the right to a full unpack at the destination. End result: Company "has no local Harrison's crews in FL to help with offload." TMM said they would check and see if people/resources would be available to offload Driver and I are unpacking my stuff until 8:30 PM. By 8:30 PM, I'm tired and I just want this horrible event to be over, I release him... there are still a number of dish boxes that could have been unpacked. From what I can tell: the driver shaved his own costs to basically turn a profit on a service member in the U.S. Military. read more

Best experience EVER. From the initial meeting to get the estimate for our move, Harrison's never dropped the ball. We were moving from VA to MO and had a lot of our own personal moving parts regarding home closing dates on both ends that were not settled until almost the last minute. Our sales rep, Joe was extremely patient with us and worked with our date changes in such a polite, flexible manner. He was extremely available and responsive to us. And, we were able to get a number of boxes and necessary packing material from the Harrison's warehouse that helped us save a lot! We packed most of our home, however needed them to help with some of the more fragile items. A pack team of 3 ladies came the day before our expected load date and made fast work of getting the remaining items into boxes - each packed with expert precision. These 3 ladies could not have been more efficient and polite - first walking through the home with me as I explained room by room where we needed their help, then getting immediately to work. They were done in no time! The following day, the semi truck arrived with a moving team of 3. The men introduced themselves, walked through the house and yard to see what needed to be loaded, put down floor/carpet protector mats and went to work. They just didn't stop! And polite, my goodness. We cannot say enough kind things about this team. We bought them a bite of lunch and they get working until they felt it was truly time for a quick break. They were in and out of our 3 bedroom home in about 8 hours - and we had a lot to move! They were so careful with that ur belongings at every turn. On the delivery side, we initially thought we would have to wait a bit of extra time for delivery due to the Christmas time frame. Harrison's wants to give their employees family time rather than be on the road away ( their driver came with the trailer and was on both the load and offload team). But, we received our delivery several days earlier than expected so we were moved into our new home for Christmas morning. The offload crew of 3 was wonderful as well, quite personable and taking great care with all of our items. I would recommend Harrison's in the highest manner possible. I lived in Williamsburg, Va so often saw Harrison's ads on TV. When we sold our home to move closer to the children, I called Harrison's as well as 2 of the national moving companies. Tony Wasco, a long time employee of Harrisons, was the first appt. He was extremely knowledgeable and gave us many tips to do our own packing which we were going to do. The other reps gave us very few tips. Harrison's was the lowest price at which I was surprised. We chose Harrison's and were completely satisfied. It was raining the day of our move but Bill, the driver, arrived with 3 other men who wrapped everything to protect our goods and handled everything with great care. Our furniture arrived 1 day late due to a mechanical problem with their truck which I completely understood. Unloading the truck to place our goods in our new home was done with the same great care as when they loaded our goods on the truck. Harrison's did a fabulous job with our move. Bill Powell was the driver that delivered our goods to us today, and of my 20 years of Air Force service and about 8 professional moves, I can say without a doubt this was the best experience I've had. Bill showed up right on time, and even though the local hires showed up late, he immediately began unloading our stuff by himself. Once the local help here in North Carolina arrived, he immediately took charge and coached the less experienced individuals throughout the process of unloading our household goods. Was given a 3 day window to expect delivery (a week after requested). Never heard from anyone. Spent 2 weeks having all phone calls and emails go ignored and unreturned. Finally got a call on Friday for delivery the following Monday. Since it was less than 7 days' notice, the city could not reserve the parking spaces in front of the building and the movers complained multiple times about our lack of preparation. read more

Last year, Harrison's moved me from a rental house in Portsmouth into my own home (purchased) in Suffolk. I really wanted to like the employees, and most of them were quite personable and respectful, but after the move, we discovered some things missing - principally, two *new* Fitbit watches and chargers. My friend had purchased a Fitbit for me for my birthday, and later, purchased one for himself. He put both Fitbits and their chargers in a cute little box in his bedroom, intending to put them in his car. But in the scuffle, they were left in that cute little box, and when the movers cleaned out that room, the Fitbits disappeared. (At the time, he was renting a room from me.) At the new house, we went looking for the Fitbits (as they can be quite addicting), and they were nowhere to be found. We used the feature on our Iphones to page the Fitbit, and according to our phones, those Fitbits were NOT in the house. I was beside myself. A year earlier, my husband had died a horrible and tragic death, and I had already lost so much, and the idea of losing something else - even as minor as a Fitbit - was just was the last straw. My friend went throughout my small brick ranch, paging both Fitbits again and again and again, but they were gone. Next, we went to the old house (which was now empty) and did the same thing. They weren't there either. I contacted Harrisons Moving and asked them to replace the two items (which aren't cheap). I was told by everyone up and down the chain at Harrisons that I had simply misplaced the Fitbits (both of which had been freshly charged). I tried to explain that with these fancy electronics, the Iphone can detect the presence of the Fitbits, and that I could prove they were nowhere in the house. My comments were dismissed and I was enraged. I was so angry that I decided that I had to forget about it for my own sanity. That was eight months ago. I've long since settled in my new house and the Fitbits have been replaced with new ones (at personal expense). Those two Fitbits and their chargers never did show up (and I knew they wouldn't). Unfortunately, I don't know what else was taken. I do know this: I would never call Harrisons again. And I recommend you don't call them either. read more

My wife and I have used movers to move on 5 separate occasions. This was by far the WORST experience that we have had. We spent in excess of $11,000 for this move with Harrisons and they broke 4 separate pieces of furniture and LOST another. Their delivery drivers even acknowledged and documented the damage done. It was like the company simply DID NOT CARE!! However, its one thing to make a mistake and apologize and try to make up for it. In this particular case we have received NO satisfaction. Not only did they not return phone calls (included calls to the Vice President) they finally sent a note after 3 weeks of calling daily that simply stated the claim has been received and they would be paying us $21 for the claim. Twenty-one dollars!! They broke a $655 Biggs Muffin Stand, a $1,370 Biggs Pembroke Table, plus LOST a Biggs chair valued at $985. I would strongly ... strongly recommend ANYONE over this company. We spent $11,000 for them to do their JOB and because we didn't buy extra insurance for them to do THEIR JOB we are penalized emotionally and financially to an extent that is horrific. After moving only one MILE, we had damages and this is the response I received from my representive of the company I received a message from Gary at office concerning your recent move with our company. He stated that you have damages and would like to file a claim I reviewed your file and the moving contract also the move documents, your selection of valuation was sixty cents per pound per article. The order for service section 2 requires an itemized inventory to be completed prior to loading and the customer is responsible to request or waive the inventory. The problem with not having an inventory is there's no way for our office to verify condition of the furniture prior to the loading and unloading. At this time your claim has been denied. I have too many bad things to say to write a proper review without a ton of very bad words, but here goes. We used them three times and the last time was a move from Chesapeake,VA to W.VA and they still have a piece of furniture after 4 mos. that got lost on their truck. They are very rude on the phone, no one knows what anyone else is doing, and they also damaged some very expensive pieces of our furniture, but if you file a claim they have some bull*!$ .60 cent per pound crap. I don't have patience to go into.We thought they were great before and unfortunately recommended them in the past, I apologize from the bottom of my heart for that and will never recommend them again. We chose this company because of how long it has been in business. When the estimator arrived, he was very professional and courteous, and we decided on using Harrison's because the estimate was reasonable and they would be driving the truck with our possessions to our new home in Fla. They would not be passing it off to another company. The crews that came to pack and load were just great - again professional, respectful and courteous. They all worked hard and we were loaded and ready to go as promised. And to top it off, the final cost came in under the estimate. This is a great outfit with great people. Never Again. Between my wife and I we have used Harrison's three times and referred many people and organizations to them. We were such loyal customers that we made sure that our move to DC would be awarded to Harrison's (it was a military move). Flipping disaster from day 1. Day One: The packer's (2 of them) showed up. Late. Very Late. One of them spent the whole time talking to all his girlfriends on his cell phone directing them how to keep their trysts a secret from their husbands. His business but eventually I really was over listening to it. When he wasn't yakking on his phone he was asking if he could have some of the things I was planning on giving away anyhow. Too bad I took my eyes off him because when he was doing something he managed to break a $600 coffee machine because he didn't care enough to pack it correctly..."if it don't fit, force it". Needless to say the packers didn't finish but promised they would be back early in the morning to finish while the moving crew was moving out the big stuff. Last I ever saw of them. Day 2: Movers showed up. Have to say, these guys were pretty good and they immediately sized up the situation and started packing as well as moving. Good guys for the most part. No issues with them but because the whole thing was so far behind I ended up working just as hard or harder than they did. I do not mind hard work but I do get a little peeved when I (or in this case the government) is shelling out good money for someone else to do it. The trailer with our possessions in it was to be stored for about 10 days before being delivered to DC. Sometime in that period a tree fell on the trailer and crushed some of our belongings, Things like a custom framed portrait of our daughter that was a father's day present and NOT cheap; a bathroom storage vanity, etc. Crushed. We discovered this when the load showed up in DC and the only reason we know it is the moving/delivery crew told us; not the "customer service" department. Fast forward to the claims process. For all the damages Harrison's magnanimously offered $126.60. This is because during the contract process we had accepted "standard valuation" for our belongings and in their demented world that is equal to "sixty cents per pound" of the specific items damaged. This means if a tree falls on your possessions while in their care and crushes a unique $1200 portrait, the compensation is equal to 60 CENTS of each pound it weighs. Or if some moron instead of trying to figure out how a $600 (or $6 for that matter) coffee maker fit's into its original shipping container instead just shoves it until the base snaps off and the reservoir cracks what matters is the coffee maker weighs 10 lbs so these crooks are on the hook for $6.00 not the $195 needed to repair it. And NO, the salesman who did the contract did not explain any of this and in fact said that the "standard valuation" was the best option to protect our belongings. And sure, if it were just some of the (many) dings in furniture you expect in a move we could swallow it. In fact, while we documented the dings and gouges, we didn't claim them because we accepted that is part of a move; but the significant damages we asked to be compensated for were a result of gross negligence. The staff we corresponded with (Ms Ferguson & Ms Daniels) claim there is nothing they can do. We are appealing to Mr Mullin, the owner, but the impression we have is it going to be a futile exercise. If that proves otherwise we will be happy to report so in an update. Regardless of what level of satisfaction is achieved we cannot in good conscious ever again recommend this firm. Their standards of performance and customer service appear to have diminished dramatically in the past several years. We know that our experience will not be enough to cause them to lose their lucrative contracts with the military and relationship with firms like AAA but if there are others out there with similar experiences we encourage them to make it known. read more

I've moved many times, both interstate and local moves. Harrison Movers are the worst I've used. Tony, their sales rep, is charming, and will promise you anything. He is not to be trusted. We have antiques and fine collectibles, which he promised would receive first class care. This did not happen. The packers were a joke. Boxes were poorly labeled, and the rationale behind the use of different types of boxes escapes me. We found cashmere sweaters, and expensive suits stuffed into book boxes, while an expensive guitar and curtain rods were crammed together in a wardrobe box! My grandson's dirty sneakers were dropped on top of suede purses. But what was worse was the attempt to overcharge us for the moving crew's hours. The move took two days, but they tried to charge us for three. The movers took lunch each day, and tried to charge us for that, too. When we talked to Trish in customer service, she feigned surprise that they took lunch. That's something that they're entitled to by law! It wasn't until I told her we had independent witnesses to the lunches, and threatened litigation over the nonexistent third day of work that she agreed to reduce the costsof the move. I will never use this business again, and strongly caution others to avoid them. read more

NEVER again. This was a military move from CT to NC. Although the movers were friendly, they refused to take the boxes and packing material same day. When I called the following day to have it picked up, I was told within the next few days. Got this same run around from "Rob" for the past three weeks even when I told them I was expecting to deliver my son any day and didn't want a thousand boxes in my way. Still, no one came even after he gave us dates for pick up--no one ever showed up. Gave up calling their useless company and had my husband break down the boxes and bring them to the dump himself even though this company was getting paid to do the job my husband ended up doing. We have moved numerous times in our military career. Now retired, we chose Harrison's based on research and their ease of meeting with us for a simple quote. Today we took delivery of our household goods at our new home. Absolutely no problems! The driver David King and his assistant Darrell Thomas were exceptional. Antonio who assisted in loading the truck was also exceptional. All three of these men worked tirelessly and with great attitudes. Every box, every piece of furniture was handled as if it were their very own. They also did everything in their power to protect the home from receiving any scratches as well. We stored our household goods with Harrison's for about a year prior to our moving across country. When it was determined that my husband's employer would be paying for and using a different moving company, Harrison's representative was extremely petty and rude and insistent that we should use them instead. I told him that we didn't have a choice in the matter. The coordinator for the other moving company contacted Harrison's and made arrangements for the transfer of our goods. I also confirmed the date with Harrison's and was once again chided that we would not be using them for the move. Also,I was advised that I needed to pay an additional $355 (their warehouse handling fee) before my goods would be released. When I questioned this charge, I was told that it was a pretty small amount compared to moving the goods across country. When our moving team showed up at Harrison's at the appointed time, the representative told us with a smirk that our goods were not at this location but at their warehouse 20 miles away! After our movers arrived at the other location, they were made to wait in the rain for 2 hours until the Harrison rep and dispatcher agreed to let them load. After watching a quality moving company pack and move our goods, I remembered back to when Harrison's team packed and loaded our goods the year before and realized the difference was startling. Harrison's team was careless in their handling of our furniture and they took twice as long. They were the classic example of the job expanding to fill the time allotted. read more

The experience with Harrison's was horrible from a customer service experience. I would not invite these people into your home. From purely a moving perspective, they were okay; they showed up around the promised time and moved everything we needed. HOWEVER, the people they bring into your home are incredibly low class. The first crew that packed our equipment used a toilet in our home that wasn't connected. We had clearly told the team where the working bathrooms were in the home, but one of their team members left an absolute mess in our toilet. What's worse, they didn't bring this to our attention. It was disgusting. Then , the team decided it was a good idea to discuss their drug habits of choice while they were packing. It became abundantly clear that Harrison's has a very lax hiring process and customer service training program. I learned more about their drug use and the habits of their roommates than I'd ever want to know. Plus, they used incredibly foul language. IF YOU HAVE YOUNG CHILDREN, DO NOT ALLOW HARRISON'S DRUG ADDICTS INTO YOUR HOME. The next issue again revolved around bathroom usage. The moving team came in, and they used the working bathroom. However, they plugged the toilet and we had a disgusting mess overflowing into our bathroom (which WAS carpeted). We observed the team all going to that bathroom at the same time, which was odd because we didn't have anything to pack in there. Nobody told us about the mess or the situation (again). Because we were in a different part of the home, we found the disaster after they left. The smell was horrendous and we had to literally pick up their fecal matter to clear it. While Harrison's certainly can move a home, they hire irresponsible, low-class drug addicts that leave a biologically hazardous mess every time they leave your home. What's worse, they don't own up or alert the homeowner to the mess, so it becomes a disgusting surprise after the fact. Again, if you have children, do not have them present during the move unless you want them learning that the man packing their room is "only off weed because he just got his kids back and can't afford it". Or, "there was a coked out roommate that stole a tablet from a mover's daughter and traded it for crack". Or, "on a previous move Harrison's had a mover with a firearm that was discharged in a client's apartment and the round ended up going through the ceiling of the apartment and through the second floor bath tub". These people need to do a much better job of hiring, or at least training people on what's appropriate to discuss in the presence of a client. Or, short of all that, check before using the bathroom and alert the homeowner if you've left a mess of fecal matter in the home. DON'T WALK AWAY FROM A MESS. ALERT THE HOMEOWNER AND HELP THEM CLEAN UP THE OVERFLOW / UNPLUG THE TOILET BEFORE LEAVING!!!! read more

Do not use Harrison's. Moved locally in Norfolk and had used Harrison's before. Moving from large house to smaller condo, but have a lot of nicer furniture, some antiques, some stuff passed from family. Nothing too fragile. The packers did a great job, but a different crew showed up to unload the truck. They were a disaster. Dropping furniture out of the truck onto corners, damaging multiple pieces of furniture by bad technique -- resting the weight a a large cabinet on the edge and causing the edge to splinter, for example. The sales guy was nowhere to be found; when called he said these "were not the good crew." Well how is that my problem? They caused significant damage to multiple nice pieces of furniture. When we pointed it out to them they agreed, and said that a supervisor would come by and give us a repair plan, but tried to get full payment on the spot before the adjuster came. Eventually they agreed to wait for the adjuster. After the adjuster came, and documented the damage, it took 5 weeks for the quote for repair to arrive. In the meantime, the billing department called and tried to bully my wife into paying the total immediately. When we politely but insistently said we would wait for the repairs to be scheduled, they countered by insisting we take $500 off our bill and deal with repairs ourselves -- despite the repair quote being greater than $500! They went on to say that there was a death in the company, that things were chaotic, and lastly, that the crew who unloaded our things were no longer employed there. They wanted a credit card number without providing a receipt, or even a total, in writing. We want to settle up and get on with things but this company is incompetent. In short, damaged furniture, poor customer service, very aggressive billing department -- stay away. read more

I used Harrison's Moving and Storage to relocate me from Northern Virginia to Chesapeake. Their crews were on time and the actual charges matched the estimate. I have done 8 moves in my 20 years in the Navy and I have never had such a bad experience than I did with Harrisons Moving and Storage. The packing was horrible. The packers just threw things in random boxes, barely wrapped anything, crushed posters, and jammed everything possible in a box. If it didn't fit, they made it fit. They pulled everything out of the storage sheds outside and left the boxes outside. I caught them just before they were about to leave and when I asked them if they were going to put it back in the storage sheds they stated that "There was no way to get the stuff back in there" and they just left. I got everything back in there with no issues they were just being lazy. The crew that came and picked up our stuff were efficient and I didn't have any issues with them with the exception of how my stuff was treated and packed in the truck. On the delivery day, the driver was by far the best person I came across. However, they only came with 2 additional people plus the driver to unload the truck. Needless to say, it took all day to get our items off the truck. One of the people unloading the truck slammed a lot of stuff around and might have been the cause of the damaged items. The damage we noticed off the truck was my grill which was all bent, wheels were broken, and all of the burners were broken off. A computer desk and 2 book cases were split and unusable. They also damaged a wall which over a month later still has not been fixed. After they left which was about 9PM, I started to put my sons bed back together, of which was taken apart by the company at my old house. They took it apart with no care or concern and several pieces were missing or damaged including the support bracket for the mattress. Then we noticed that my 50 inch LED TV was also damaged. The next day we started unpacking boxes and were distraught when we noticed how they packed the boxes. It looked like they treated our stuff like trash, putting anything and everything in random boxes. One box was actually labeled "pots and shoes" and it also had things from 5 different rooms in it. If you are about to do a military move and get this company I feel bad for you, fight like hell to change it. If you're unable to, watch them like a hawk when they pack and load the truck. I would only recommend this company if you want your stuff to be smashed. read more
