The potatoes had a perfect spice level, coming from someone who does not care for spicy food. The ingredients tasted fresh and clean. I also got the Earl Gray tea- it is delicious. Every employee we interacted with was helpful, pleasant, and gracious- lovely! There is ample seating, some more cozy spots, which I prefer. Really cute decor. Clean. Prompt removal of dishes. I can't wait to come back! Re: sharing these dishes, I don't exactly recommend this, the portions aren't huge. We are on day 38 of fasting and aren't eating much these days, so we were satisfied but not stuffed.

They have a good sized menu as well consisting of apps, salads, bowls, entrees and wraps. Of course, they are family friendly and offer kids meals too. I chose the steak entree since it comes with 2 sides of my choice as opposed to the braised beef which just comes with rice and beans....for the same price. I read they are known for their olive oil lemon cake, if there is such as things as a healthy dessert. I was very impressed with the meal and it seemed to be a pretty healthy choice at such a good price point. The steak was real slices of lean steak that actually tastes like a steak and not rubber. Fruit cup was very fresh and way better than any I've had at other restaurants lately. I wasn't a big fan of their teas, but they're gonna take some getting used to. The olive oil cake was tasty just a little smaller than I had imagined.

Having worked in restaurants for seven years, I know what great service and attention to detail look like, and Local Table delivers both every time. The staff always makes me feel like family, and Emerson, the owner, and Robert consistently stop by to say hello and make sure everything is perfect. The combination of outstanding food, excellent service, and a welcoming atmosphere makes Local Table one of the best dining experiences in The Woodlands. I highly recommend it!

We did not sit there because it was hot. We sat indoors. It was just me and my child. Our waitress did not mention that kids (12 and under) eat free all day Mondays (and 10 am - 12 noon on weekends). I learned this from reading Google reviews after we had already ordered. After I asked, she confirmed the promotion and allowed us to add a kids meal since we had already ordered an adult entrée, which is the required condition. We ordered a kids' pizza. You can pepperoni for $1 but it's a free add on Mondays. Not gonna lie, pizza tasted off. Kid said it and I ignored her. Then I tried it and ack. We brought the rest home and stuck it in the fridge but it tasted even worse the next day. Tossed in trash. Service required frequent prompting. Like pulling teeth. I had to ask about the drink included with the kids meal. And yes Milk is an option. I also had to ask about the cookie that is supposed to come with the meal. We did not receive one. She said they had chocolate chip only as oatmeal and sugar cookies were gone. I said fine. We never got anything. So I went to the take out stand and we were told they were out of cookies. But they offered us a small brownie instead. Unfortunately however it contained nuts. For an appetizer, we ordered the cast iron spinach artichoke dip. The chip‑to‑dip ratio was not balanced. We ran out of chips way before the dip was gone. We also ordered the cast iron skirt steak (yes lots of cast irons). I requested medium rare. It arrived medium well and slightly tough however. You'd think they could easily tell this since they slice it all up before serving. It was not seasoned, but presumably that is because it is intended to be used with the chimichurri sauce provided. No salt on the tables. Overall, the experience and the food were marginal and borderline acceptable, but definitely unremarkable. Service is another story however. She was nice, just not very good at her craft.

That kind of genuine hospitality makes a difference, and they absolutely nailed it. The food is excellent! Fresh, flavorful, and seriously impressive. I ordered the spicy fish tacos, and they were outstanding. The chipotle sauce added just the right amount of heat without overpowering the dish. As a bonus, I downloaded and registered on their app and scored a free dessert, definitely worth it. I went with the White Chocolate Bread Pudding, and OH MY GOSH ... it was next level. Not your typical bread pudding. It had more of a layered, crepe-like texture with a rich, creamy filling, drizzled in milk chocolate and topped with a strawberry compote. I could've easily eaten 10 of them. What really stood out to me was the menu variety. They offer gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegetarian options, and even have gluten-free desserts! They have several locations across Texas. I visited the Woodlands spot. Safe to say, this will be a must-stop anytime I'm in the area.

I've worked my way through a good part of the menu and nothing had disappointed me. From a taste perspective - the food is flavorful. The protein empanadas are on my personal -- no matter what menu -- I order them I matter what. They always come out hot and the dipping sauce is legit. The burgers are great and so is the zucchini pasta. I'm also a fan of their soups and my son loves their pizza. The food usually comes out quickly but I've been there when they are overwhelmed. Still not a long wait. The staff are also very friendly and they have a rewards program. If you like hanging out at a casual place with good food that isn't horribly expensive with a healthier flair -- this is your place!

1-Star Review: Absolute Disaster - Never Returning to True (False) Food Kitchen…read more We had one of the worst dining experiences imaginable at True Food Kitchen. We ordered our food, and it simply never came. After a long wait, our Brazilian waitress kept stringing us along with repeated false updates about how soon it would be ready. She left us hanging the entire time with zero accountability. What made it even more infuriating was the staffing situation. There were visibly more servers and kitchen staff than actual customers in the restaurant. Yet somehow, nothing was getting done. We watched plates of other customers' food sitting in the pass window for over 10 minutes while seven different servers casually walked right by, letting it sit there getting stale and old. Our server in particular seemed completely disinterested in doing her job--she had zero urgency or care for our table. The cavalier, neglectful attitude from the entire team felt like a systemic problem, not just one bad shift. It was as if the restaurant's "healthy, mindful" branding was just a front for pretentious, ill-mannered service that couldn't care less about actually delivering on basics like getting food to the table. We finally flagged down the manager, who at least gave us straight information: our order would still be another 10 minutes on top of the already excessive wait. At that point, we'd had enough and left without eating. This place is a nest of neglectful incompetence. Between the false promises, indifferent staff, and total disregard for customers, we will never patronize True Food Kitchen again. Save your time and money--go somewhere that actually values service.

Black Walnut uses the Pay Before Eating concept which I have mixed feelings about. It makes me feel like I'm at a fast food place but the food is anything but the usual stuff most fast food places serve and in all my times eating here the food has been very good. It just seems odd to order at the counter and pay first. I think the idea is that it is faster for staff, a server will bring you your food and refill drinks. And on the plus side, you don't have to try to get the attention of your server when you are done to get a check and pay.; you just get up and leave. I kind of wonder if their servers get the same kind of tips as they would if you paid at the end. OK, about our lunch. It was very good. We shared the Spinach and Artichoke Dip, very creamy with good flavors. They offer a $12 lunch special with 5 or 6 choices, a main and one side. Not bad for $12 but we opted to order something from the main selections. My wife ordered the Pot Roast Grilled Cheese sandwich which was very good, and it came with a small salad and cup of soup so was quite filling. The pot roast was super tender! I ended up getting the Fish Tacos, they use mahi mahi and the fish was moist and tender. We also split a side of their sweet potato fries because they are just so darn good. It was a good lunch and we left feeling quite full. We will come back the next time were are in The Woodlands.
