1-Star Review: Absolute Disaster - Never Returning to True (False) Food Kitchen We had one of the worst dining experiences imaginable at True Food Kitchen. We ordered our food, and it simply never came. After a long wait, our Brazilian waitress kept stringing us along with repeated false updates about how soon it would be ready. She left us hanging the entire time with zero accountability. What made it even more infuriating was the staffing situation. There were visibly more servers and kitchen staff than actual customers in the restaurant. Yet somehow, nothing was getting done. We watched plates of other customers' food sitting in the pass window for over 10 minutes while seven different servers casually walked right by, letting it sit there getting stale and old. Our server in particular seemed completely disinterested in doing her job--she had zero urgency or care for our table. The cavalier, neglectful attitude from the entire team felt like a systemic problem, not just one bad shift. It was as if the restaurant's "healthy, mindful" branding was just a front for pretentious, ill-mannered service that couldn't care less about actually delivering on basics like getting food to the table. We finally flagged down the manager, who at least gave us straight information: our order would still be another 10 minutes on top of the already excessive wait. At that point, we'd had enough and left without eating. This place is a nest of neglectful incompetence. Between the false promises, indifferent staff, and total disregard for customers, we will never patronize True Food Kitchen again. This place was listed on InKind so I thought I'd give them a try. I ordered 2 chocolate chip cookies to go. We waited at an empty table. A little fly came by to hang out with us. The cookies finally came in a brown bag that was taped at the top, so I didn't rip it open to check my order. I mean, it was a simple order and they only have 1 type of cookie on the menu. When I got home I had one cookie that looked like a chocolate chip cookie and another cookie that didn't show any resemblance to a chocolate chip cookie. But I get that sometimes the chips are hidden inside. So I didn't think twice. Well, I can confirm that second was devoid of any chocolate chips. I took mini bites to see when I actually might encounter an actual chocolate chip. But I got nothing. I double checked my receipt and it says chocolate chip cookie and chocolate chip cookie, each @ $2.95. I double checked the menu thinking maybe they gave me another type of cookie but the menu only lists chocolate chip for cookies. So how on earth does a chocolate chip cookie have zero chocolate chips? I think that takes some serious skill to make one without a single chip in it. And I actually might not complain if it was still an awesome cookie nonetheless, but it was a far cry from that. It was a tasteless soft lump of dough. And clocking in at $3 that's just not right. Does this establishment have no quality control to prevent something like this happening? I don't think I've ever experienced something like this at a place charging this much for a cookie. True Food Kitchen never disappointed me when it came to salads and starters. Love the ambiance, the people ... today Ken came around every table to just stop by and say hello. Then they told me he was the GM. Thats a nice gesture. Our order consisted of : 1. Hangover which was refresher - I did not taste all that was mentioned as the ingredients on the menu. Certainly not the coconut milk or orange. 2. Tulsi tea - mm ok ok 3. Watermelon salad: it's seasonal and it was really refreshing and equally tasty. My star for the afternoon 4. Charred Cauliflower- quite good actually 5. Chopped salad with a side of pesto pasta- this was a great combination not only for the taste but the idea of having pasta as a side for that little hunger that lingers on after a salad. Both were great. Definitely repeatable. 6. Teriyaki salad- the base makes it a perfect full meal with perfect blend of veggies with a balance of carbs. Loved it too. With all this and a box of to-go created with leftovers there was no more place for anymore food. Yassir and I think it is Shanaya ... they both were really warm and friendly and explained about the food very well when we had questions. Simple, clean, and delicious! If you are looking for a healthy option, in a clean and well maintained setting, this spot is for you. Located on Market Street near The Woodlands Mall, this place is excellent for a break while shopping. I've been to a few locations around the country and have always been happy with the results. Staff is always super friendly, good comes quickly and made to order, and restaurants are always clean. This location has a really nice outdoor patio, but unfortunately I visiting during a 95°+ day, so while a few were sitting outside, I opted to sit inside. Definitely worth checking out, especially if you've never been or are on the fence, go for it! You'll be happy you did. read more

I ended up dining for three. It was cutting close to closing time and unlike a lot of other restaurants I've visited, you know when it gets close to the time they close, the service slightly deteriorates. However, immediately as I walked in, the environment was very welcoming, the staff were eager to help and overall very friendly. When it was time to order I got the 'Ancient Grain Bowl' and 'Sparkling Prickly Pear Tisane'. The drink. It had a very mild tuna flavor and I could taste most of the lime. It was decent. The bowl amazing. The sweet potatoes were flavourful, the pistachio pesto was so vibrant I could practically taste colors, the mushrooms were delicately spiced and the snap peas were... well, snap peas. I had one complaint though-- the grains were crunchy. When our waiter came through to ask us about the food, I noted that the grains needed a bit more time. She apologized and assured me that my feedback would be received by the chefs. Of course I thought nothing of this. Why would I? They're about to close, it's halloween night and the chefs would probably brush it off as another complaint. She comes back 5 minutes later and says, "The chefs tasted the grains and also agreed that they were undercooked. They're going to prepare another bowl for you." I was shocked to say the least. I declined because I was already halfway through my bowl at this point but she insisted that they remake it. So they did. And it was even better. This is a really nice vegan spot. Upon entrance we good a very kind greeting of welcome in. The environment is really appealing. The restroom was very clean. The service was very nice, perfect timing of placing order, checking to ensure everything is ok. The napkins are pretty with the restaurant name on it. We got water and we like how it came very cold without ice. I got the Mediterranean wrap. It was good, the wrap was a little thick. Add more vegetables would be better but it was very tasteful. The sweet potato hash was ok, there were some pieces that was burned. After I finish my fasting I plan to go back to try the lavender latte and another entrée. read more

Bright and airy inside, the happy atmosphere of True Food Kitchen stands with their promise to quality foods and responsible sourcing. Matt got the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich, and it came looking quite sad for $18. The waitress told us that our orders got switched with another table who made some special requests to the sandwich including having the coleslaw served on the side. ... cool, but it was a little strange they didn't try fixing our order or anything? Taste-wise was okay per Matt and not spicy (and he's a self-proclaimed wimp when it comes to heat!). The Ancient Grains Bowl I ordered was nicely presented and chock full of veggies-- yay! But also quite salty. The Charted Cauliflower was lightly flavored and enjoyable with nice sweet bites of dates. The tahini gave it a slightly bitter aftertaste and the dill flavor was strong when you got bits of the herb. I liked how it wasn't fried! I am not fond of places that charge so much for a simpler, more natural meal. A tea doesn't need to cost that much, it costs cents to plant an herb and then dry it to make tea. Had lunch at True Food Kitchen and it was ok! Service was good but a little slow, though I did come at a busy time. The place is really cute and spacious! Love the decor and how well-lit the place is. Ordered their Mediterranean hummus with ancient grain pita bread, which tasted amazing! The hummus itself wasn't really spicy so you don't have to worry too much about it. I also ordered their edamame dumplings and ended up loving it! The broth isn't too strong, so it goes well with the dumplings but still adds to the flavor overall. Not a fan of their iced matcha though as it's very watered down, and the matcha they use seems to be of low quality. I visited about two weeks ago and I just want to express how fantastic the experience was for a lunch with my friend. Upon our arrival, we were seated quickly and the hostess at the front was welcoming and friendly. After receiving our menus, we scanned through them and really appreciated the variety of healthy options available; my friend and I decided on some appetizers and drinks. I chose a lemonade while he opted for water, and everything was delightful. For our starters, we had guacamole and charred cauliflower. For our main courses, I ordered the Steak Frites and he picked the chicken parm. I appreciated the atmosphere as soon as we stepped inside the establishment. Ordered a grass fed burger medium and it was very well done and charred on the outside, bitter taste in every bite, I ended up giving half to my dog. $22.00 was very expensive for what I received. Visited on a busy Friday evening and was very unimpressed with the food. I had the pepperoni pizza and my wife had the teriyaki chicken quinoa bowl. Unfortunate first experience! First, the staff were nice and welcoming, and had nice small talk while placing my to-go order... not many of us down south refer to a drink as "pop"! I ordered two cups of soup, the Korean Noodle Bowl, and the Ancient Grains Bowl. I was handed my bag, which was sealed with a sticker. I asked if the utensils were in the bag and was told yes. After I drove to my office I opened the bag to find they forgot to put the two cups of soup in the bag. Sad because the Butternut Squash is one of our favs to try anywhere we go. I called to explain the issue and the manager adjusted my bill and refunded the money. Then when I opened my Korean Bowl I was disappointed by the lack of steak they included for an $8.50 add-on and the portion size should be referred to as snack size. If a meal is going to cost $25 it should be worth it. For the food to be healthy, the only flavor it has was sodium...no different than Pei Wei or Panda Express. A week ago my husband, daughter (2.5 months old) and I decided to have lunch here. We walked around some stores before going here so we obv had my daughter in her stroller. The meal I ordered was quite delicious in my opinion, my husband didn't really like his and the service definitely could've been a lot better. But today after church we decided to invite some friends there with us to eat for them to try it because I loved what I ordered. our friends beat us there and get a booth and it was a bit busy today. My husband put the stroller by the table and I'm holding our daughter because I was trying to put her to sleep so I can lay her down in her stroller and an employee comes to me saying I can't leave my stroller at the end table that it needed to be placed in the front. I explained to her we were here just the other day and didn't have a problem plus I see other moms with their strollers. She then we and grabbed someone from the front and she told me it was a hazard in case of a fire so they seated us in a different spot so I can have the stroller near me. Totally fine I completely understand. The new waitress took over 10 minutes to get to us just to order our drinks so when she came we went ahead and ordered our food assuming it'll take forever. Once the food arrived my daughter was crying so I was standing and rocking her near the table while my husband and our friends began to eat. My husband had a burger and our friends had a salad and some type of sandwich. As im rocking my daughter my friend points something out in his salad and we all look and it was.a LIVE WORM in his salad. I was furious. I called the waitress over and she said she was going to get someone to come to the table. No apology no nothing from her. She then proceeded to help the table next to us instead of grabbing a manager so I walked to another waitress and requested a manager asap. The manager came and my friend told her what he had found in his salad and ever showed her. The manager was completely nonchalant about it and looked at him and said "well it is organic so this can happen." The absolute worst business ever. The management here is so beyond terrible that it baffles me to the core. I talk to my servers every time I eat here and they have nothing but the worst things to say about this "restaurant" (if you can even call it that). They have absolutely no idea how to manage, and anytime there is an issue, the managers here could not care less about my situation at all. The food quality is extremely inconsistent, probably because the poor hygiene practices from the kitchen. It's an open kitchen, and that's a mistake, because you can see them wipe sweat and pick their nose and then immediately go back to cooking. There's always a new dish or drink to try out. One of my favorite things about this place is that they regularly have new menu items. It's my first visit at this location. It's in a shopping center so you can park in the metered spots or in the garage. There wasn't an wait time even though it was busy. As an appetizer we got the humus, which was delicious with the warm pita bread. We all got different drinks like bathe matcha horchata, lemonade, and I think mine was a hibiscus tisane which was refreshing and an tiny bit tart, in a good way. Most of the group got burgers with sweet potatoes. I got the spaghetti squash casserole which was hot to eat and deliciously cheesy. I got it with strips of chicken. We are new to True Foods. Unfortunately it was the worst food in a restaurant we have ever had! The restaurant was almost empty at dinner time. I ordered the All American Burger with fries and my husband ordered the Chicken Parmesan. Both dishes came out cold and I don't believe they were freshly made. I'm not even sure my burger was beef and my husband's chicken breast was a round circle. It looked like a giant chicken nugget instead of a real breast. Recently tried TF after an event in The Woodlands and am not disappointed! Easy to find in the middle of Market Street - not too off the beaten path. A great little spot for healthier choices - including some vegan options! My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal - although I think my boys would have preferred a bit more of a selection of meals for kids (the ONLY reason for the lack of fifth star). The hummus was to die for, the strawberry cake was delectable, and I had a green drink that was delicious! Service was a bit slow and the seating was quite packed, but overall a pretty good experience for a Saturday evening nonetheless! Our waiter was top-notch and super courteous.
