Looking for something quick, appetizers and cold drinks stopped at the hostess and asked to sit inside. She states if you are only having appetizers and drinks you have to sit outside or at the bar inside. I told her we did not want outside and do not want to sit at the bar. They grabbed menus took us inside to one of the very back rooms the place was empty, it was 11:15am. The waiter took our order brought our appetizers and drinks and then disappeared for a super long time we had to go find him, no refills on water, tea, drinks. The food was Eh' for the trouble they gave us trying to sit down I would have expected more. Really disappointed, the bill was 60.00 for 2 small appetizers a tea and a margarita. Just don't. With all the options in the Navy Pier (and downtown area) this was not the spot for us. We were able to eat outside but our server wasn't really feeling it. We ordered boneless wings and poutine to share. The wings were decent, however the poutine fries was not a great combo. It contained pulled pork and chunks of cheese, and it just didn't work together. The fries without anything on them were pretty delicious. We finished quickly and went inside to use the restroom, for the hostess to tell us we weren't allowed. We literally showed a receipt to prove we had just eaten. This tavern on the Pier was certainly giving sports themed because of who it is named after. The staff were polite and efficient. Out waitress Gabby was really attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. The atmosphere is casual and has a bar that seemed energetic. The food was not up to par with the atmosphere to me. The fish was not seasoned and even with petting fresh squeezed lemon juice on it, that still didn't help. The fettuccine was really bland, but it was at least not stiff and dry. This was a nice stop on my bike ride. It was right inside the pier area and we were able to put our bikes next to our table outside. The food was good, nothing some salt and pepper couldn't fix. The staff was friendly and attentive. We had the fried pickles which were good. The chicken quesadilla could have had some seasoning as the salsa was a little bland. I enjoy walking around Navy Pier as a local for its views of the city and to see what else it offers. Often times there are concerts here or just events I hear about in advance so it's always a nice time to come here. Typically, I try to avoid having to eat on Navy Pier as I know it's a tourist trap and there are so many better food options in Streeterville or River North nearby... but we were so hungry that we decided to stop at Harry Carat's based on the menu and the ambiance. I genuinely liked the interior of this restaurant and it seems pretty big actually. There are several different rooms and a bar area at this restaurant, and I love a lot of the sports memorabilia on the walls. As far as our food. We ordered their most popular burger on the menu (The Holy Cow) to split as well as the Toasted Ravioli appetizer. We also ordered their largest sized beers and got their specific IPA. Beers were really good, but the food in my opinion was left to be desired. The toasted ravioli was better than the burger, but there were only 6 raviolis which I found to be small considering the price. Burger was really just whatever. Not much flavor and a bit dry. It needed something extra really. Also, the restaurant was out of almost all their draft beer except for maybe 3. Service was okay, although we had to wait awhile for someone to bring us utensils once we received our appetizer. I don't know. Maybe I was expecting a bit more from here, but I had to step back and just accept I'm at Navy Pier. I found it to be a bit overpriced overall, and unless I was extremely hungry on Navy Pier, I wouldn't return here if I didn't have to. This location is on Navy Pier so prices are naturally going to be high. However, we loved the food and the beers were actually well priced for the size! Service is quick and there's outdoor seating for those nicer Chicago days. Highly recommend the 108 burger and fries, perfectly cooked and delicious. The meatball sub was terrible. The roll was dry, but the worst was the meatballs, which seemed to have decent quality meat but almost no flavor at all. There was also no sauce on the sub to cut the dryness of the fat and the roll. read more

Amazing place for the summer as their menu changes over season, if you want some good barbecue it's best to go. Service can be a bit slow but that is common in the city, as they will not having you starving. Overall I ofrecer going in the summer over the winter season. read more

As a lifelong Chicagoan, head my advice and avoid this place. Harry Caray must be rolling over in grave knowing that some corporation is profiting by using his name for this entity on Navy Pier. The food bears no resemblance to his namesake restaurants. Two golf ball size meatballs in tomato sauce from a jar ($15) and flatbread (think microwaved frozen bread) with sausage (maybe 2 tablespoons crumbled hamburger) and there it is. The chicken salad for $15 was a bowl of lettuce with an overcooked chicken patty on top. And the food came before our drinks. 1 star because 0 is not an option. read more

First time eating at Harry Caray's. We are visiting with my grandson who is on liberty from Navy Boot Camp. We were greeted by the manager, Nadia, who saw we were with a Sailor in uniform. Instinctively, Nadia knew that we were pressed for time so she went out of her way to find a seat for us without delay. Our waiter was Juan and he was very polite, professional, and knowledgeable about menu options. The restaurant itself is a clean casual atmosphere loaded with sports and movie memorabilia. It was like eating in a museum. The menu consisted of delicious appetizers, sandwiches, burgers, salads and more. The drinks from the bar were awesome. Restaurant was very busy & loud with a kid's baseball team taking up lots of the seating space. Our server Amanda was nice & checked on us several times but had to ask for a refill on the water. Took about 40 minutes for the appetizer to appear and the bottled beverage came after that. The Poutine was good, hot and tasty. Did not care for the cheese used but other than that, it was great. During the summer this place really stands out with live music. A lot of people don't realize it's live since the singers are exceptional. During the warmer months, the outdoor patio seating is nice. The food is probably what you would expect: decent bar food but nothing outstanding. During the winter there is no live music, but it's still a decent spot. We've eaten here many times before, and we ate here again last night. Food: *Chicken Vesuvio: this is new on the menu and something I would order again. The two chicken breast pieces are moist, and they come with potato wedges and a small amount of peas. It's not heavy or greasy but still pretty tasty. This is on the menu at some of their other locations, and I'm so glad they brought it here because I'm not always in the mood for a burger. *Spinach and artichoke dip: served with tortilla chips. it's exactly what you expect and good. Sometimes my kids like it and sometimes they don't. My husband ordered a steak sandwich. My kids ate the kids meal chicken tenders, and the kids meal burger. They liked their meals so that's good. They restaurant charged extra for an additional side of ranch dressing for my daughter's chicken tenders, so now you know. In the past, we've ordered a few different burgers, and those are good, pretty standard. *Not recommended (items we disliked during previous visits): -pulled pork sandwich: tastes like something previously frozen. During that visit, I remember taking home my leftovers reluctantly because i hate wasting food, but then I ended up throwing it away later. -chocolate milk: way too sweet and my kids refused to drink it. My husband and i tried them but couldn't drink them either. Ambiance: bright sports bar with walls filled with photos of celebrities (many with Harry Caray) who have eaten at Harry Caray restaurants. Plenty of TV screens to watch whatever game is going on. Service: good There are small booths with plexiglass dividers or tables of various sizes and configurations. If you have a stroller, they make you park it near the door. If you eat outside during the summer, they make you park the stroller outside of the roped off seating area. You would want to have food here just as you enter Navy Pier! So did we, but we decided to roam around the Navy Pier and have lunch on our way out. When we finally got there, the attendant informed us that there was a 20 mins wait (despite having empty tables just sitting there). We said alright, we will take their drinks to go because maybe they don't have enough staff to serve people etc. Cut to their frozen margarita which I chose. We almost didn't come here because of the reviews but they were so wrong. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The view was perfect and the service was great. The food was just good ole American food. We got the calamari not expecting much but the batter was great and good flavor. We all got burgers but the best one was definitely the holy cow. Would suggest the onion rings over the fries but the fries were delish with their signature hot and spicy bbq sauce. We wrapped it up with a twist on key lime pie, key lime cheesecake. Open to air and it was a very hot day. Some people felt it was too hot in there and left to go somewhere with AC. That surprised me because being on the water, you want that experience! Anyway, the staff was great! Good service, and great atmosphere! I chose a boozy slushie.. it was coconut flavored and quite good. The taco salad that I got was incredible! I could eat it all but was too full. He got a Chicago style foot long that he said was delicious! I can't handle all those toppings. This was a great way to end our trip. Great location on Navy Pier if you are visiting the city or looking for an awesome alternative to tailgating before a Bear's game! We had the best time coming to Harry Caray's for brunch, grabbing a to-go drink, jumping on the water taxi directly across the street, and missing out on all traffic going to and from Soldier Field.
