First time to Navy Pier. We were walking around to see what it was all about and got hungry. Harry's was just sliding their doors open when we got there at 11:30. Honestly, there was nothing else on the Pier that didn't look like a touristy satellite of an original restaurant that could be found a few blocks west of the pier on Michigan Ave. This looked like it could be decent and it was. We were the first in, and we sat at the bar. Our bartender-in-training was very nice, as was her colleague and we were served promptly and happily. We ordered bloody marys and they were perfect, with just enough kick and a piece of meat to boot. We split a pulled pork poutine and it was tasty and the perfect size for the two of us. read more

While the food was good, the prices are expensive for what you get. The drinks were bland and nothing special. They gave us a "free" birthday sundae and then charged us for it. Service was also mediocre at best. Don't recommend for the bar or the dinner service. read more

This is a good spot just along the walk at Navy pier. We went during Covid restrictions don't had to make a reservation first. We were offered seats outside immediately or the option to wait for an inside seat. Our party decided to take the outside seating. We ordered different foods and everything was enjoyable. The only thing to note is that if you sit outdoors there will be mosquitoes. There were also spiders on the umbrellas and trees. Other then that food was great and the drinks were strong. Harry Carey's STOLE MY MONEY!!! I made a reservation for my office's Christmas Party over the phone because my party was too large for open table to accommodate my reservation. I was told that for the number of people I wanted to accommodate I would need to leave a deposit of $200, which I did gladly to confirm the reservation. A few hours later I rude lady calling herself the manager, told me that my party would only have 2hours for our party because of a corporate event booked afterwards. I agreed and confirmed the reservation a second time and noticed the deposit had been charged to my credit card. When my Office and I arrived at Harry's the gates were all down and closed but we could see a number of employees walking back and forth. As I walked up o asked one of the staff I why it's closed since I have a reservation. The rude manager lady came out barking and asking if I am Felicia and that she's been calling me since Tuesday to tell me that my reservation is canceled and that she refunded my deposit, which SHE DID NOT! She was unprofessional, non accommodating, non sympathetic and disrespectful. The way she came for me upset my coworkers and they came to my defense. The fact that this monster of a woman is in the customer service industry explains a lot about the toilet the entire industry is in! Harry needs to let this Manager Karen go! Sadly, their new menu offerings are very disappointing. After back-to-back visits over the last three weeks, our neighborhood Harry Caray's has fallen off our "Must See" list when entertaining visiting friends and family. The newly revised "Burgers & BBQ"-centric menu is woefully limited, featuring two nearly identical beef + bacon hamburger options. Also available is a turkey patty with bourbon and sugar glaze, a "plant-based burger" (served with goat cheese?), and the Grilled Mac & Cheese Sandwich ($13.95). The barbecue, touted as "smoked in-house", includes pulled pork, St. Louis-style ribs, quartered chickens and something that resembles beef brisket. Gone are the amazing Fried Calamari Rings and Toasted Ravioli, replaced by a small'ish $8.95 plate of similarly-breaded Fried Pickles, a basket of Jalapeno Hushpuppies ($9.95) and a simple Spinach & Artichoke Dip ($11.95). Unfortunately, the classic Italian Beef Sandwich is no more, along with all the pasta dishes and seafood offerings. Three salads remain on the menu; a $12.95 Cobb Salad, a Caesar Salad ($12.95 after adding grilled chicken) and the Sante Fe Salad ($12.95), featuring an ample, nicely-blackened chicken breast over simple greens, black beans, canned corn, pico de gallo and served with a chipotle-tinged dressing. Our early evening four-top was immediately seated during the most recent visit and we started with a pair of well-crafted cocktails - including a boozy $12 "New Old Fashioned"- and a couple frosty, local brews ($7 for the 12-ounce mug) from the expansive beer menu. We followed up with the Fried Pickles appetizer, which were lightly battered, perfectly-fried dill slices served with a spicy Sriracha Ranch dipping sauce. The TGI Friday-inspired artichoke dip was tepid and quite flavorless. Our entrées came out rocket fast and included the Brisket Dinner ($18.95) and Brisket Sandwich ($13.95), a Santa Fe Salad and the Smokehouse Burger ($14.95), which featured bacon jam on the pretzel roll, smoked mozzarella, a small tear of lettuce, a slice of tomato and finally topped with a massive pile of fried onion strings. Unfortunately, the meat on both the Brisket Dinner and Brisket Sandwich was just horrible. At nearly $19, the tiny portion of protein on the dinner platter resembled a half serving of gyro meat - gray and dry, with no visible moisture. And despite being $5 cheaper, an identical portion of the lifeless meat was found hidden under the two huge pieces of oleo-soaked Texas Toast on the sandwich plate. In forty-plus years of eating pork barbecue and beef brisket -from the heart of Texas to my native home in North Carolina- I have never (ever!) sent a plate of 'cue back to the kitchen. But I did this time. "Yeah, I'm soooo sorry," our waiter said, "That's, like, the second or third brisket we've sent back tonight." ... "Soooo," I asked, "why are you recommending the brisket if it's so bad?". "Yeah, I dunno," he replied. Our two side dishes of Roasted Corn on the Cob were also overcooked - shriveled kernels of tiny-nibbed corn dusted in a blend of chili powder and parmesan cheese. The coleslaw was a classic cabbage and carrot shred, served in a watery blend of mayonnaise and apple cider vinegar. After returning our briskets to the kitchen, the very (very) apologetic server brought out a HolyCow! Burger ($15.95) and a Bacon Mac & Cheese Melt ($13.95). Served on a brioche roll that was lightly slathered in bacon jam, the small'ish eight-ounce (?) burger was topped with two slices of super-smoky candied bacon, a half sliver of un-melted gouda cheese, a tomato slice and finally topped in Harry's savory steak sauce. While both of our burgers were cooked to a perfect medium rare, any beef flavor was completely lost under the smokiness of the bacon jam and candied bacon. The grilled cheese fared a bit better - gooey and sloppy, but in a good way. However, the bacon also overpowered any of the Monterey jack flavor in the cheesy béchamel sauce. All total, two burgers, a lone appetizer and a pair of craft cocktails tallied up to over $79.00, before the tip. Even by Navy Pier's standards, Harry's new menu is overpriced and woefully under portioned. If you're hankering for world-class barbecue when visiting the lake, you can walk a few steps to the new Carson's Ribs in the River East Center - there you'll enjoy massive portions of world-class ribs, tender chicken and mammoth pork chops, all at lower price points. For more flavorful burgers, stick with Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville on Navy Pier, which has a half-dozen burger options and a more extensive menu for the entire family. To paraphrase the late, great Harry Caray, "With a little experience, it might get better." Man, I sure hope so. read more

Everything was bad. Food was awful. Prices were insane for Chili's type bar food. Service was ok. There was a live band playing in a separate room from the bar and the dining room. This venue actually blasts the music from the band in the other room into the bar and dining room via speakers. I've never seen this before. As I left, I walked through the room with the live band and there were 6 people in there. 6 people were interested in the band and the music was blasting through the entire place so you couldn't hear each other talk while eating. We came about 1 pm on a Tuesday and had a great lunch. We had the clam chowder. This was a good one, full of clams and not potatoes. I also had a warm, soft pretzel with beer cheese. Pretzel was nice and soft. Cheese was yummy. I saw the Carmel Vanilla shake and had to try it. Very good! My husband had the shrimp roll. It was a shrimp salad on a New England roll. I'm chalking this up to a complete loss. There was a great thing - we had a great server. She was attentive, helpful, and remorseful. The atmosphere is rushed, which is offsetting at best. This is a causal sit down restaurant with food made fresh to order. The staff all very young and still learning how to give customer service. They all seem to be rather friendly with each other, they did a lot of standing around in small groups. The food is mediocre at best and downright gross if honesty is key. My party and I had he fish and chips which were horrendous. The fried cod had a crisp outer texture and a doughy chewy inside. No flake, which is normal for fish. The fries were cooked to a pulp. I felt like I might injure a tooth attempting to chew one. This was an awful start to an otherwise fun trip. I won't be back! read more

Stopped in to rehydrate after walking around downtown and Navy Pier. The bar was a bit of a throwback, with a lot of sports memorabilia all over the place. I love coming to Harry Caray's! Whenever I'm at the pier, it's my first stop. It's conveniently located at the front of the pier too. I prefer sitting at the bar. Grab a seat outside at the patio bar if you're lucky enough to find an open seat. Ask for Jesse! He makes the best cocktails and gives amazing service. Not sure what you want to drink? Ask him for suggestions or even better yet, let him surprise you! As for food, I have a few favorites. I love the turkey meatloaf. It's always juicy. The mac and cheese is made with Gouda! So delicious! Also, you can never go wrong with a Chicago classic- the Italian beef sandwich. Get it dipped in the gravy (its messy, but it's worth it and it's supposed to be that way)! On a visit to Navy pier, my friends and I were looking for a quick place to grab a bit and we came across Harry Caray's tavern. I ordered the Santa Fe salad because I was honestly craving some greens. It was a pretty standard salad - grilled chicken, Black beans, corn, pico de Gallo, cotija cheese, and avocado with a chipotle ranch dressing. It was a good salad and everyone else in my party also enjoyed their meals as well. We were in quite a big rush since one of us was leaving town, but I didn't seem to notice any urgency with the checks or with the service. It was so awkward and uncomfortable. And I was shocked by the quality of the food in comparison to their other locations. I was staying at the hotel on the pier for a few days for work. Day one I checked out the famous Harry Caray's for dinner. I'm new to my job and just started traveling for a living. I sit in the bar lounge. Elise the bartender was so welcoming, funny and very nice. She gave me great recommendations off of the menu. I felt so welcomed I stayed till closing time. Unfortunately i did witness a super rude guest unleash all her anger out on Elise. This woman had a voucher for a free drink, but didn't tell Elise she had the ticket till after she made her drink. Elise informed the lady what was included as her free drink and this lady just went nuts. I believe Elise handled the situation very calmly and personally. I on the other hand would have not. Even though Elise was very busy as being the only bartender with a full bar, and dealing with a horrible "Karen" guest. She still managed to Check on me frequently and still crack jokes to make me laugh. I also noticed that people were giving her drink vouchers for drinks but not tipping. She still had a joyful manner, which I give her much props for. I would hate it if she did all that work (as the bar was packed) and didn't get tipped accordingly.
