We had a fairly solid brunch at Main Street cafe! Always love a good breakfast option in the square and they have a quite large menu to choose from. The interior is tiny but the seating options are more plentiful than it would seem! The interior is lovely and there is a beautiful mural of the lake county fairgrounds that deserves to be admired. My only suggestion would be to perhaps consider changing their television programming. Regardless of political views I can't imagine many customers want to come to brunch and watch Fox News. It makes the brunch experience feel a little too much a truck stop diner vibe. The music was nice so either eliminate the tvs all together or throw on something more pleasant. For food we went with the chicken fried steak sandwich and a Mexican skillet. I appreciate that the avocados were all very fresh! Overall it was very good. I've been going here for many years. yesterday, 10/27/25 I visited to find their new menu which is VERY limited. I ordered a gyro and the indifferent waitress (who is always in the place acting agitated) tells me "we're out of gyros". We walked out. I used to see the owners every visit but now it appears the kids have taken over and are determined to ruin the place. We have probably eaten here 50 times or more over the years but yesterday was the last visit with these numbskulls. Right down the street is "Greek Islands"...better food, nicer people. Mainstreet is a trainwreck and the kids don't even realize they've run it off course. read more

Come for the food, stay for the service! I walked in for a quick breakfast for the first time last week and I was immediately greeted by the staff and informed could sit where I liked. Their menu already looked promising with a wide variety of offerings including boozy drinks and coffees both regular and speciality. It was a pretty calm atmosphere, one you would find at any diner however the service was outstanding! Our servers were attentive and kind and the food was the best. Walked in at 8:30 am on a Saturday and the place was almost empty, and this is on the Crown Point Square!. Bad sign that this was not going to be a great breakfast, if no one wants to go there. I ordered an iced coffee with hazelnut to start, which was just coffee poured over a full glass of ice. I got three sips out of it and then when I wanted more coffee poured into the glass, they said it would be full price again. This is a joke. I ended up paying 3.99 for three sips of coffee. I ordered the eggs with biscuits and gravy with sausage. Two small eggs, one biscuit split in half with blah gravy, and two small sausage links, for over 10 bucks. Not a good deal. Will not go back. I will stick my my all time favorite, AVGO in St. John. It is so disappointing that I can't find a decent breakfast place in Crown Point near the square. read more

Gem of a small town feel diner. The staff was warm and welcoming, courteous, and attentive. They have a nice diners counter if you are dining alone. The coffee was good, sadly I did not seen any plain cream. I had the country breakfast which is biscuit and gravy with 2 eggs and sausage patties. The biscuits were fresh and fluffy the gravy was solid not the best ever but a good gravy. It needed pepper and probably could have used some sausage bits and grease. The eggs were average, but cooked well. The only bad thing was the sausage patties were those cheapo pucks with no flavor. The price was very reasonable at under 13 bucks. Had some time to kill, so I decided to stop in for some breakfast. I got the Nutella pancakes, and a side of bacon (3 not even full pieces). Both were delicious, but was a little disappointed on the bacon part. Anyways, the service however, sloooooow as heck. We didn't get our soup until we reminded our server 3 times. It's not like they were short staffed either. There were plenty of waitresses and waiters running around. I was honestly surprised how good the French toast and apples were because of the way they looked. I expected the color of the toast to come from the grill oil, but it was light and fluffy. The apples were tougher than I expected but tasty. Coffee was decent. $6 for a basic mimosa flute. No options for bottle or carafe or different juices. No military discount. read more

The staff was lovely and friendly! They were actually very welcoming, just like you were family. They are very attentive and accommodating. The menu has a lot to pick from, I also think they have late night tacos... there's a ton of bars in the area... and well drunk people love their late night food... Anyway, back to the food... Ambiance was nice, went in and ordered fish and chips. One bite and fish was obviously bad, way too fishy taste, I couldn't eat it, instead of offering a replacement meal he would only take 1/2 off of the price of the meal and said there was nothing wrong with it. I've never, ever returned a meal but this was inedible! I wound up paying 12.00 for fries and a soft drink. If there is any consolation, the French Fries were good. Stay away from this place, the manager was a real jerk! Still can't believe I paid $12.00 for fries and a drink. read more

Planned a trip to walk around Crown Point today and found a new restaurant to have a late breakfast at. Excited to try new things of course. They cleaned up the table right away so we can sit by the window.....and forgot about us. Another table sat, ordered and got food before we ordered. The girl apologized so not a big issue as they might be working out their routines. Ordered food and it was good. Then they forgot about us again. I had to go to the counter for more coffee. Then had to do the same for more hot water/tea. Had to tell the guy at the coffee station it's not a good idea for everyone to be goofing off by the kitchen instead of checking up on the diners. More apologies again. My advise; get it together before more customers don't come back for more. The good food bumps it from one star to two. read more

The place definitely needs a little bit of a facelift, and the waitress we had was all business. No smile, not friendly, just very curt and to the point. It was odd coming from such a young girl. I ordered the soup of the day which was cream of cauliflower. The soup was a tad too thick, but it was really quite delicious. I then ordered a Combo Salad, which turned out to be a scoop of cottage cheese, a scoop of tuna salad and a scoop of chicken salad. Bread would have been nice with this because after a few bites, the texture of all of these salads together got to me. Andy got a skillet which looked good, and my friend Mary got a sandwich. Pretty inexpensive for what you got. Would need to sample some of the other places in town before I say if I would consider coming back. read more

I saw all the five star reviews here on Yelp and decided to give the Main St. Cafe a try. Five stars? Not even close. We had breakfast here on Friday morning. Sat at the counter. Turned over my coffee cup for a fill up and there was a bright pink BANDAID stuck to the inside of the "clean" cup. I almost walked out then, probably should have. Very bad first impression. The place was crowded. A sad sign of the fact that Crown Point has NO good places to eat. (at least not that I have discovered yet. Please, send me your recommendations for my next visit.) I ordered eggs over easy, bacon crisp and wheat bread. The eggs were okay, not very fresh tasting. The bread was the cheapest store-bought variety wheat bread. The bacon was limp. Totally limp. It was like shoelaces. I return to Crown Point once or twice a year, but I won't be returning to the Main Street Cafe. read more

Do not EVER Door Dash from here. We ordered, they accepted the order and took payment. After 40 minutes I was advised of a delay. I called and they told me not to worry, it would be ready in 20 minutes. 40 minutes later, the driver gets there and they tell him that they just canceled the order! Unacceptable. read more

This was my first time here and I'm always skeptical about breakfast spots because a lot of places buy cheap ingredients. I ordered a American skillet and subbed bacon and I always order my vegetables well done(some restaurants don't know what this means because my veggies still taste like they were freshly cut) and my friend ordered a chorizo omelette ....... He cleaned his plate, I cleaned mines with ease! But not only was the food delicious, every staff member that walked by made sure we were okay. They all kept asking "you guys need anything".... Sure enough, there was and I had a very pleasurable meal. I ordered a Denver omelet, hash browns with onion added plus ham and Texas buttered toast. I washed it all down with oj and coffee and enjoyed it all. It was a good place to enjoy breakfast by myself. No one hurried me or bothered me. On our way out of town, stopped to get breakfast at the Main Street Cafe. After reading the reviews, I have to say that I was disappointed. The restaurant has the usual breakfast fare. The food was good and we enjoyed our meal. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. However, the restaurant was not clean -- not the tables, but the floor. There was litter all over the place -- bits of napkins, paper straw covers, toothpicks, etc. It was bad enough that we almost thought about leaving as soon as we entered. We arrived about 7 am and the restaurant was pretty empty, so the staff had plenty of time to run a vacuum and clean up. Given the cleanliness issue, I can't give Main Street Cafe my endorsement. read more

This is an old-school diner, complete with the 50's ambiance. Relive the good old days in this establishment! This could work for an informal date, a family meal, or even a birthday party (which you can reserve the back room for)! They also have a pinball machine you can play in the back room, and you can get Valpo Velvet Ice cream at this place as well (one of the better local brands). read more

It's your average small diner. I had Greek chicken, and it was pretty good. It wasn't broiled, but that's ok. It had a pretty good flavor. Service was ok, but at one point we were the only customers, and my coffee cup was empty. My mother said her pot roast was delicious, and it looked pretty good too. Prices are very reasonable, and bonus points for having real butter and half and half. I've been here several times for early morning breakfast(they open at 1am on Saturday and Sunday to cover the bar trade),and breakfast is really good, I recommend the skillets. Overall I recommend it for a quick, reasonably priced bite. read more
