We visited White Oak while spending the weekend in Atlanta. The restaurant had such a cute vibe, very chill and laid back. We were seated by our hostess and Kiara came over and introduced herself to us. Such a sweetheart and very pretty too. Her service, knowledge of drinks and attitude were top notch. I had the halibut and he had the Lamb Rack. We also tried the Lamb Pastrami Carpaccio and it was very good. For dessert we had the crème brûlée and it was delish. I wish I had taken pictures of the meals but I was hungry and wanted to eat. We will be back to visit if we return to ATL and hope that we can see Kiara again! read more

I was there for a birthday celebration and reserved a private room. I am plant-based, so I ordered the Orecchiette and was pretty underwhelmed. I like creamy bases, but their only option was a Carbonara, which is fairly limiting for people that don't eat pork or meat. We got Shrimp beignets for the table and they were sent back, but the mussels had a raving review. The fattoush salad was delicious. And the Wagyu burger looked and smelled amaaazing! Someone in the party said it was really good and the french fries were also great. Overall, the food was meh, some good and some not so good. However, their service was so great! In the time that we ate, we were greeted by the manager, owner, and both chefs. All of the servers had a southern accent, which I found a cute twist to their vibe. White Oak is good, but pricey. White Oak was the site of a get-together where we mainly ordered sharing plates, charcuterie, and cocktails. The food was fresh and well-prepared. Cocktails were fine, but nothing to write home about. Since this isn't my home, I'll say that the bourbon cocktail I had was a little weakly-flavored with dilution, but the London Fog (with gin, earl grey tea) was excellent. Cocktails were $20 each which was a little high for what they were and food was on the upper side as well, but I wasn't paying so... Service was prompt and attentive, particularly since there was only one person working with our group and she also had to make drinks. I was severely disappointed with my entire experience. Walking in the atmosphere is fun and open. But from the get go it was just an overall lackluster experience. Our waiter never made us feel welcome or really have a comfortable dining experience. They pushed the most expensive items on the menu and when they came the food was lacking in almost every sense. The octopus however was a highlight. But the beef burgundy was average and the vegetables were not cooked well. The risotto was very salty and had an artificial flavor to it and the shrimp was overcooked resulting in a slightly chewy texture. The cavatelli was fine but really nothing of note. The flavor of it was barely there. The mushrooms did taste fresh. The drinks were unique and well made. In total it is very hard for me to recommend this restaurant to anyone especially if they are not locals. read more

While staying downtown for a work conference, a joined a group of my peers for a dinner at White Oak. There was a thread on Reddit on where to eat when on downtown ATL and the consensus was that Whit Oak was OK but not worth the money. I think it was spot on. The food was decent but not anywhere near the quality it should be for the price point. The food service also was also super slow. It took like 3 hours to eat here. They service as a whole was good and attentive however. While nothing was bad here, most everything was just pretty decent but charging like they had a Michelin Star. read more

I was in town for a work event and this place looked good, and is in a good location. First and foremost, the space is beautiful. Really nicely designed and comfortable space. That was the most positive part of the experience. The host at the entrance was short and kind of rude. I told him I had a reservation when I said hello. There was no warm welcome, in fact, no welcome at all. He grabbed menus and said "follow me" -- not a great start. Beyond that, the drinks were very average at best -- and it took 30 minutes to get anything other than water. Our waiter, Enrique, was lovely an apologized every time he walked by. It wasn't particularly busy at that moment, so I don't know what took so long. It took about an hour to get our food. By that time, the food was lukewarm to cool, and mediocre at best. Overall, rude staff at the front, extremely slow service, mediocre food and drink at high prices for the quality you get. All in, we spent about $400 for four guests. I don't know if the passes for food in Atlanta, but it wouldn't in other major cities. read more

About a 1-1.5: We stopped by White Oak, as it was located near where we were staying - the concierge at the hotel stated that this place was great for HH and their food shareables were delicious. It took a moment for us to be noticed and seated - while being led to our table, I noticed there was a sewage-like smell in the restaurant, which was super unpleasant. Also, the place didn't seem to be well-ventilated nor was there any air on, considering it was a hot/muggy day. We had the Waldorf, which was listed under one of their main entrees. Unfortunately, this was not what a Waldorf salad was at all, as it came out in a chicken salad-like form - definitely not what we expected. The menu stated it was prepared with smoked chicken, celery root, honey crisp apples, candied walnuts, and champagne grapes; you could only taste the smoked chicken, and the dish was just super dry and was not tasty at all. We should have stopped there, but decided to share a dessert - the Blueberry Zeppole with a Grand Marnier compote - the zeppoles were undercooked, in which the interior was just raw dough. The compote, which sounded delicious, had no flavor to it, and didn't add anything to the dish. Our server was nice, but we weren't checked-in throughout our dining experience. The team that manages this restaurant is one of the most unprofessional and unethical group of individuals I've experienced in the hospitality industry. I was lied to about their private room being completely private (with 4 enclosed walls) for a business dinner I'm hosting, which I listed as a requirement for this event. After I signed the contract and paid the deposit, they sent me pictures showing the room was semi-private with a flimsy curtain. When I asked for confirmation and let them know a semi-private room wasn't an option for my needs, they took 4 days to get back to me, putting me past the cancellation date. Despite having all the emails showing them what was happening, they then threatened to charge me the full dinner amount if I tried to cancel. Would highly recommend you don't give them your business, as I'm being forced to do. read more

It was conveniently located right across the street. They offer southern inspired cuisine. I love their salads. I had the Niçoise salad. The tuna was fantastic! Also, I had to get a side of fries. Crispy and delicious. The restaurant is huge, accommodating over 300 guests and featuring three different dining rooms. Inside, the décor incorporates white oak and repurposed wood, hence the name. The atmosphere is airy and farm house rustic. They have three signature chandeliers made of sugar maple from the Jack Daniels Distillery. read more

I chose to eat here because it was very close to the Hyatt Regency Atlanta where I was staying and I overheard some folks in the lobby talking about how great the food was there. It's a very clean place with nice lighting and decor. The bartender, Shannon, did a great job and was quick to make sure I always had everything I needed for an excellent meal. I visited this restaurant for dinner with a high-ranking colleague from work while we were at a conference. It is just across the street from the Hyatt Regency Atlanta in downtown and offers views of Peachtree St. NW through large windows. The interior is a bit dim, though, so don't plan on doing much reading if you visit after sunset. There also was a loud group at the bar not far from our table, so it was a little hard to talk until they left. Foodwise, I tried a couple of the appetizers (Snacks, as they were called): Pork Belly ($17) and the Tuna Crudo ($28). The pork belly was served with small, crunchy florets of cauliflower that were bright yellow and some crunchy little pink things that I couldn't quite place. And the crudo was served with taro chips. While both were pretty good, they seemed to be missing a bit of umami that I was expecting in these dishes. I won't say I was disappointed necessarily. More surprised. We also had asked if they had any mocktails and the server said they could make one that included ginger beer and lavender. It basically tasted like ginger ale. This one was a bit disappointing. Overall, I wouldn't say it was a bad experience. But I probably wouldn't return by choice. read more

Fantastic! I had an amazing business meal here, the Pork Shank and service was superb. Service was likewise excellent, I never had to wait for anything. My only complaint, is that since we stayed past closing, the spray cleaner that they use is HIGHLY fragrant, in a Lysol sort of way and ruins the taste of your meal. I would reduce my rating by a star, but I was seriously there past closing and they were good enough to not say a word. All I can say is wow. Came in first time and it was good. Came back the second time and ordered oysters. They reeked when they sat them in front of us. Definitely not good enough to eat. We told wait staff and they just said hate that man. And that was it. If the chef would send those out with that pronounced smell, what else would be bad? Apathy. No manager came out. After spending a fun day at GA Aquarium and diving with the whale sharks, we were attracted to White Oak by their lengthy and attractive list of whiskies. Rather than bury the lead, I will come right out and say it up front. The food here is exquisite. The bar service, however, has a major detractor. But for this one particular annoyance, I could have easily rated this outing five stars. Here was our experience on this particular occasion: We started off with an order of fried green tomatoes as an appetizer. Topped with a delicious cheese and some crispy bacon, these tomatoes were out of this world! Our starters also included a delightful double bock beer, and a very relaxing bourbon on the rocks - over a single large cube, of course, as the creator intended for whiskey to be served. We shared an entrée consisting of beef spareribs, accompanied by baby squash. Both were phenomenally, melt-in-your-mouth good, and beyond delicious! I could easily describe this as the perfect meal. Except for this one very annoying thing. Upon reviewing the check, I noticed there was an extra $2 charge for the large ice cube (per cube!) over which my bourbon on the rocks was served. Seriously? You're charging extra for ice? Why not take it all the way and include separate charges for other necessities, such as silverware, or even plates? Don't forget those cloth napkins. Surely there's an untapped revenue stream in there as well. Shame on you White Oak. You could have been so much classier. read more

The fries were super good - I liked the flakes of sea salt. The drink blew me away. I had the Home Sweet Home which had earl gray tea, blackberry, honey, and club soda. Hmm. I don't understand the recent "hate" from some reviewers. I dined here with three colleagues on a recent work trip and had a fantastic experience. I'll start with service, which seems to have been a gripe for several reviewers. Our server, Mia, was attentive and charming. She also admitted to being new, but owned up to any (few) mistakes or lack of knowledge. Ya know what? It's COVID time. You'll get new staff and Mia did well with our boisterous--but friendly--party of four. The food was superb. We split fried green tomato and mac/cheese appetizers and both were excellent. I'd never tried fried green tomatoes and these were a real treat. I enjoyed the pork loin entree and was impressed by the flavor and tenderness. Definitely the best meal I've had in a while. White Oak is on the first floor of e what seemed to be a large office building. Once you get past the feeling of being in a lobby you'll see that they decor is warm and charming. A little loud for conversation because of the open air of the restaurant but again the ambience was nice. And then, as our group of seven were standing talking on the patio outside the front entrance we got ran out of by security. I get it if you have a problem with homelessness and other riffraff, but I would think eight people that just exited the business, in business attire, would not be treated as rudely as the security treated us to vacate the private property. read more

Light and airy, with really high ceilings and tons of natural light. We sat both inside and outside and both were awesome. Service was inconsistent. Some of the front desk hosts weren't the friendliest, but our servers were all great. The food came out very quickly one day, and took close to an hour another day. We loved most of the food we ordered o we the few days we came. Some of our favorite were the fried green tomatoes, the burger, the turkey sandwich and the macaroni and cheese. We really did NOT like the butcher board, the deviled eggs or the pastrami sandwich. Overall, it's a great spot!
