I have been to Harami sushi many times in the distant past, but this is my first visit since they moved across the street. It's spacious, tastefully decorated and either they hit the jackpot with staff or their training is spectacular. My table had lots of questions, but everyone they interacted with was knowledgable, helpful and professional. They were able to satisfy my friends who are vegan, vegetarian, and even gluten free without batting an eye. The sushi itself was all delicious. Rolls and nigiri are served using forbidden rice, which is a great twist on standard sushi. I had hamachi - fresh and promptly served. I also had the omg roll, which is served theatrically on fire in an aluminum foil boat. It's unagi based so totally appropriate. As a late add on we had the ahi tower which is a definite must for appetizer in the future. It was a fun evening and we'll certainly return.
This place was easy to find and parking was close. I wish I knew about this place sooner. It's inside a hotel, super high-end decor although the place looks super fancy most customers walked in dressed in regular daily wear. We got there right at lunch so it was super busy during a weekday. We decided to sit at the bar. I ordered a draft jefe, forgot the name. We had a couple appetizers and their own lunch menu sushi. Everything was so delicious. The food was just the right temperature and looked amazing. The staff at the bar was extremely helpful and kind. We can't wait to go back and try other dishes.
If you work downtown, or near downtown you need to add Harumi lunches into your rotation! The new Harumi, which is directly across from the old one, is huge inside and has a beautiful interior. My favorite lunch special, which is less than $20 comes with Udon & 2 of the signature house rolls. The Udon is a large portion with a ton of flavor in the broth. The AZ Roll is my favorite but you can't go wrong with any of their signature rolls. The purple rice is a staple! If you are up for it or visiting alone sit at the sushi bar, the sushi chefs put on a great show!
First time here and I was not disappointed. All of the staff were friendly and helped each other run food and refill waters, which isn't something you see much of these days. We were there at around 5pm and it wasn't too busy, but there was a steady flow of diners coming in and out. Seating is ample, with outdoor, bar, sushi bar, and regular table options. I ordered two rolls: hot havana and mango roll. Both were delicious and the mango was juicy! The purple rice was super fun and set them apart from other sushi spots. I also ordered the miso soup to start. The food came out quickly. My only "complaint" is there aren't a ton of classic roll options. But this is a more upscale sushi restaurant, so it isn't surprising. I will keep this place in my list of spots to hit when I'm looking for a bite to eat in DTPHX.
A quality experience with food and with service. Fish was melt in your mouth and had a great taste. Very cute ambiance. Would consider coming back. Downtown parking is a pain even during lunch on a weekday, so plan early to get to your reservation on time. They accepted walk in for lunch though.
High quality sushi for a great price in a cool location? Honestly, what could be better! Harumi came highly recommended by friends and family who live in town, so it was a must-try when we were visiting AZ over the holidays. There are plenty of nearby parking garages to choose from, and I don't believe they validate. We made a reservation for four adults and one baby for lunch, and we were glad we did because this is a popular spot! Nearly every table was full by the time we were leaving. I started with an iced matcha latte, which may have been one of the best I've ever had! It was smooth, sweet, and lightly frothy. Their lunch specials are an incredible value: you can get so much food for great price! I went with the Udon & Duo, which was $15 for a huge bowl of udon noodle soup and two sushi rolls of your choice from a select menu. Everything was fresh and flavorful - the sushi is made on purple rice which is a fun twist! Our server was so sweet, and they were well equipped and happy to serve a baby, although a very well-behaved baby at that. This is definitely on my list to revisit the next time we're in AZ!
I'm going to start off by seconding the common opinion -- the black rice is tasty, but it doesn't make for amazing sushi rice personally, as it does tend to fall apart as soon as soy sauce touches it (even when just picking it up, especially the nigiri). I think it definitely makes for a great visual, but not my favorite. I've been to Harumi before a couple of times before they moved over to this bigger location, and I think the quality has stayed relatively the same. I think what shines here are the unique roll options and the fish quality. The service is also always great, I've always had really friendly servers, and the food comes out super fast (like almost concerningly fast hahaha). This time, my family came for a Sunday night dinner, and there was no wait at all. We shared a couple of rolls, some appetizers and udon. The gyoza was the deep-fried kind, which was good, I think I personally prefer pan-fried. The Oh My God roll is always a hit with people, as it comes with a fun little fire show, but I'm not a huge fan of very saucy rolls so I opted for the nigiri and rainbow roll combo -- which was great value! I didn't love the udon personally, I think there was a lot of pepper or spices that kind of overtook the flavor of the broth. Overall, the sushi itself was solid, appetizers were okay, but my family loves their rolls! I will definitely be back for drinks, as I saw some really cool options on the menu -- need to try that matcha martini for sure!
Surprised such an amazing sushi place exists in Phoenix ! I visited my friend in Phoenix and we liked Harumi so much that we came back the following day. Their decor is beautiful with a modern boho vibe and soft wood tones that's perfect for a date. We shared a few rolls and also ordered some kid friendly options (plain rice, side of avocado, sweet potato roll, avocado cucumber roll). Our favorite roll was the Hot Havana roll! Must get it if you like yellowtail! Also appreciate that they have a very affordable chef special that is perfect for those on a keto/low carb die. It came with 6 pieces of sashimi and the oasis roll. Love that that use a rice blend (purple or black rice?) that gives it a purple hue. We did order cocktails and sadly, my "Seija" cocktail which is a matcha martini missed the mark :( but my friend enjoyed hers.
Harumi is one of the top sushi restaurants in Phoenix, with great quality of fish and unique rolls. Their purple sushi rice is a fun addition, and also cooked/seasoned very well. The restaurant is warm and inviting, with very attentive waiters. It can be difficult to find parking downtown, but the meal is definitely worth it! I always will recommend harumi to people in search of great sushi in Phoenix.
F O O D This place came highly recommended and it did not disappoint. The place was super vibe-y and is a great place to go with the girls or on a date. And the food was delicious! My sister and I loved everything we ate. The Caesar salad was fresh and the dressing delicious, and the sushi is made with purple rice instead of white which set the place apart from other sushi spots I've eaten at (in a good way!). They don't load up on the carbs and the fish to rice ratio was nicely proportioned. I thought that the prices were also pretty reasonable. Everything was prepared well, food came out fast, drinks were filled, all the things! I only caught the girl's name who brought out the Oh-My-God roll and gave us a show (thanks, May!), but the employees were quick to clear our tables and were so smiley and were so great to converse with. This is a must go-to spot whenever we visit Phoenix in the future. L O C A T I O N It's located in downtown inside what looked to be a business building. I actually have no idea where everyone typically parks, but we managed to find street parking a block away.

Yes! Yes! Yes! Fresh fish, quality food, excellent customer service, beautiful ambiance and mind blowing price points! This is the place to be. I had the lunch tower special, miso soup, edamame with the spicy garlic butter (I preferred the sea salt), the mackerel nigiri, the kurodai nigiri and they all did what they were supposed to do; excite my tastebuds and fill my belly. This was great! I didn't have a mocktail because I thought the prices ($19) were too expensive (the lunch menu was cheaper $16). The entire team was remarkable and I already see myself dining in there again VERY SOON! Check them out and enjoy!

Best sushi I've ever had in Phoenix. Harumi is TOP NOTCH. I tell people about this restaurant every time someone says they want good sushi. It's definitely this place. My 2nd time here but 1st time in their new location. The new space is very clean and modern and we enjoyed the ambiance. Great quality fish and good team-style service. And the best part is it's not any more expensive than the average sushi place. The combo with sashimi + oasis roll was delicious, came with 2 pc salmon/tuna/yellowtail and the cucumber wrap on the roll made it refreshing. The Ohmygod roll came wrapped in foil which they smoke/set on fire in front of you. Other faves were the Harumi and Aburi. Get the shishito peppers for starters. read more
Harumi Sushi has an amazing ambiance--truly off the chain. Worth the wait. They even have a dedicated vegan section, which is cool, but the options felt a bit limited and staff had to check if the batter was crossed with non-vegan or not. Miso soup was good and the sweet potato roll was alright. Just didn't hit the way vegan sushi can. Service felt rushed when we were sitting and had 2-3 servers just for me and my partner, which was a bit of a downside. Had to keep going to the kitchen grabbing our forgotten wasabi, ginger, etc. Still, it's a solid spot if you're looking for great vibes and sushi. 062125 read more

The sushi is good quality and the pricing is not too bad, but this menu is definitely more mass-appealing than fish-forward. The bluefin tuna course and the aburi roll were my favorites. The oh-my-god roll is a pass for me however, just too heavy, oversauced/overseasoned, and not a distinct fish flavor anywhere in the roll. The staff here are soooo nice and helpful. Harumi Sushi has become a family favorite spot for celebrations, and this visit was to mark finishing my Bachelor's degree. We came on a Sunday night with a big group, and even without reservations everything was handled quickly and smoothly. I always go for the Poke Bowl which was super filling compared to rolls. The table shared spicy garlic edamame (not really spicy but still tasty), stuffed jalapeños (also mild but delicious), and gyoza. The star of the night was the OMG Roll. The fire presentation was amazing, and the smoky flavor it added made it unforgettable. What really sets Harumi apart is the staff. The cooks, servers, and the entire team work seamlessly together. Instead of waiting on just one server, multiple staff checked on us throughout the night, making us feel genuinely cared for. To top it off, we got a surprise dessert that said "Happy 21st Birthday!" a little mix-up, but hilarious since we weren't here for this. I previously celebrated my 21st here too, I guess I got to celebrate it twice! Overall, great food, fantastic service, and always a memorable experience. read more

The food is waaaay too good for the price (yes you read that right, they could charge more it was that delicious but I hope they don't so we can keep coming back). If you're in the downtown area and you love sushi, Harumi is amust try. The bar area is nice, with group seating. There are the typical rolls as well as house specialty. The sushi here was beyond outstanding. I never understood quality sushi rice until now - they used a purple sushi rice which offered a whole new depth of flavor in comparison to traditional rice. Their fish was also SO fresh, it truly melted in your mouth. Next time I will have to try their rolls, but the bluefin tuna sampler was a solid place to start. Bonus points for the fresh wasabi. The service was excellent and ambiance was really nice. I would come here for a date night, a celebratory meal, or if you want to treat yourself to something nice! read more

I looooove Harumi! I've been on the hunt for the best sushi spots in the valley, and time and time again, I kept hearing about this place, so I finally checked it out. First, the ambiance is stunning, clean, beautiful, and minimalist. The menu selection is incredible, and the flavors used in their dishes are even better. I highly recommend the Wagyu Beef Roll (our top pick), Harmonia Roll, and Oh-My-God Roll. The quality of their food and the aesthetic of its presentation are incredible here, and the speed of service is on point, even on a busy weekend night. Their cocktails are also amazing, our table ordered the Harumi Spritz, Off Minor, and Strawberry Between the Sheets- everyone LOVED their drinks. We even got to speak with different cooks and servers as we dined-each staff member was so inviting and easy to chat with. I can't wait to come back! read more

Decided on Harumi before a concert Downtown. With many food options Downtown, this was the only option for my picky eater 12 year old. The food and service would be hands down the reason why I come back the next time I'm in Downtown Phoenix. I ordered a seaweed salad, miso soup, gyoza, a side of sushi rice, and the sashimi & ocean roll combo. Was checked on many times that wasn't overly annoying. However the only critique or downfall was the fact that this establishment only had 2 restrooms. Which is equivalent to 2 stalls or 2 toilets. I just wanted to wash my hands before dinner. I had to wait in line for at least 15 minutes, only to hold my breath to wash my hands in a room that smelled like sewage... I waited longer for the restroom than I did for a seat at the sushi bar... On a Saturday night at 6:30pm. Needless to say, for a restaurant that probably has a max capacity of at least 50, 2 restrooms are unacceptable. read more

From the wood-slat entrance and leather drinks menu cover to the local Pip Coffee & Clay ceramics, the design and atmosphere of the new location has really stepped up the game. And the food? As fresh and delicious as ever. The one thing I can't stop ordering here is the Blue Fin Selections. You'll get four pieces each of fresh, buttery bluefin tuna nigiri and sashimi, as well as two pieces of spicy nigiri wrapped in seaweed. Plus, it includes *fresh* wasabi -- order it if your dish doesn't come with it. It's bright and spicy without the excessive nose burn of horseradish-based ones. I truly could eat this stuff on its own. The udon is flavorful with a nice bite and light spice. I was pleasantly surprised by the size for a starter dish. And you can't go wrong with any rolls (I rarely say this), especially with the purple rice texture. I also LOVE the non-alc drinks -- especially the jasmine yuzu spritz that has the extra nuance of dried lemon peel flavor. Service is great and well-organized, especially with the new bar and waiting areas. Absolutely one of the best date night spots in the Valley! read more

I have seen this restaurant all over instagram. The vibe is cute and trendy but intimate and sexy. Keep in mind they do not take reservations! We came on a Monday night and it was only a 5-10 minute wait.It isn't super noisy so it is perfect for a conversation during date night. Started with a matcha martini at the bar, it was alcohol forward and not too sweet which I enjoyed. Got a bottle of sake that the server recommended and it was fruity and delicious. The sunomono salad was a perfect start. Not pictured, all the sushi rolls that we ordered because we devoured them! Will definitely be back. read more

I've frequented this business for years, both their Downtown and Peoria locations. The food is consistently delicious, have quality fish selections and hot plates. I've never had a complaint regarding their service. They tend to share responsibilities across tables which makes for a seamless dining experience. The environment at the Downtown location is a bit more upscale than the Peoria location, making it perfect for a quick lunch or even birthday dinner. read more

9/10 Went for a late Valentine's Day and would definitely revisit. My boyfriend and I have some pretty high standards as far as sushi goes. He's a chef at hiro sushi and although there's no beating the sashimi and nigiri at hiro, we were looking for some rolls to enchant our tastebuds as Hiro doesn't offer a variety like harumi does and wow were we pleasantly surprised. First we got the jalepeno poppers which I wouldn't re order again (not spicy enough, not cream cheesy enough, and not enough dynamic flavor) everything after that was smooth sailing!!! Better miso soup than most places! The service was comically fast! Their line up is on fire! The garlic edamame, although not very spicy, in fact I'd say the description is misleading, was a unique twist I haven't seen before, a pleasant surprise of a buttery brown sugar taste with a hint of spice but I loved it! All the rolls we tried were exceptional like blown out of the park and just what we were looking for! The oasis was my favorite! Oh my god was closely tied and then the mt. Fuji was still awesome but I wouldn't get again! Our server was nice but we could kind of tell he was lying when we asked his thoughts on it and he said it was his favorite, he was very attentive tho and observant! We're picky about sushi so I've got a harsh scale but I'm overall impressed read more
Wow! I have known about this place for a while but had never been in to check it out because of all of the other great restaurants downtown. I came in thinking it would be "just another restaurant" downtown, but was blown away by the ambiance, service, and quality of the food. Ambiance - this restaurant is located on the ground floor of a building right across from the Rose Garden bar. The restaurant is beautiful inside and fortunately was not too crowded when we came for lunch on a holiday. Service - very quick and attentive. There were a couple servers who came by our table and everyone was super nice and helpful. Food - really good. We ordered an OMG roll and they actually came to our table and it it on fire! I was not expecting that! Their sushi menu has a lot of variety to it. Everything we ordered was great. read more

Was the food good? Yes, it was! Was the ambiance good? Yes! Was the service good? Yes sir it was. Now is it the best sushi I've ever had - the rolls I had were good but not the best. We had the Harumi Roll and the Wagyu Roll. Both were listed at the top with stars next to their names so I thought they would be the one... they were good but not amazing. the Yellowtail carppacio was good! And all the Nigiri I've had there was good. I'll just have to continue to try more rolls or stick with the Nigiri. read more

3.5 stars. We came here on a Friday night. They don't do reservations from what I could see, so we just walked in. We had to wait around 10-15 mins to get seated. You can order drinks at the bar or ask them for a server to take your drinks order as you sit in the courtyard. They have an extensive cold sake selection. I don't particularly enjoy cold sake, so I ordered a hot house sake. The others in the group ordered different cocktails, which were sake based. Once seated, our server was quite jolly, interactive and funny. The lighting in the restaurant is horrible, so be prepared to use your phone flashlight if you don't have good vision to begin with. Ambiance wise, the restaurant has an upscale urban garden feel, but is all indoors. We ordered the Unagi roll, dynamite roll, hot havana roll, baby squid salad, Unagi nigiri, mushroom specialty nigiri, gyoza, blistered shishito peppers, super crunch shrimp roll. The food was fine but not out of the world. In fact, my brother and I were very disappointed that their "spicy" dynamite and hot havana rolls were nowhere near spicy. They were just ok. The Unagi was also just ok. I'm a big fan of mushroom so I liked the mushroom specialty nigiri but the specialty nigiri didn't feel too special. The baby squid salad was ok. The gyoza and the super crunch shrimp rolls were the best. These were both very very very good! The blistered shishito peppers were actually sweet which was a little weird. Usually they have at least a little kick. The wasabi was definitely not fresh because my brother and I could eat quite a bit of it without feeling much. We had green tea mochi for dessert, which was very good. We paid a pretty penny for the whole meal and I don't think it was worth that amount. It was decent food but not spectacular. I'm sure there are nicer hole in the wall places in Phoenix that have genuinely good sushi. read more
Wow, this restaurant has come a long way since the original review I wrote 11 years ago. Harumi sushi has completely upgraded and revamped the restaurant and it is beautiful. They even kept their best sushi choices on the menu and iit was a remarkable experience. Bravo, Harumi! read more

Visiting Phoenix for the first time and a couple friends recommended this spot for sushi. They knew what they were talking about. The service was awesome and very helpful during our first visit. Everything seemed to come out pretty fast after we ordered. The toro was my favorite and it was really clean and fresh. We came around 8 and didn't wait too long on the waitlist. Had a party of 7 that and they got everything right for us. Great sushi spot if you're looking for one! read more

Never been a big fan of DTPHX for no other reasons than it's always a bit of a mess with traffic, one-way streets, and the struggle to find parking. But when I make it to where I'm going, I end up enjoying it haha. I love trying new spots whenever I'm in the area, and today's pick was Harumi! A few people had recommended it, and it definitely didn't disappoint. Super cute place with a modern vibe, great service, and a nice ambiance. Came here while visiting for a conference. Fancy japanese place downtown. Nice indoor and outdoor seating. I was staying at the Rennaisance and this is 2 min walk. Great selection and reasonably priced. I had the sashimi app, yellowtail ponzu, toro sashimi, salmon sashimi. The toro was the standout! melted in my mouth! The service was fast and nice. I didnt try alot of the food on the menu this time, but it all looked good. read more

This was quite the find. We were going to go to another place but it had a long wait and I remembered I bookmarked this one to try. I'm glad I did. We came with a group of six and got seated asap. It's pretty big inside and strikes a modern decor. Their service was friendly and helpful and super quick. We loved the gyoza to start and the crispy rice. And then the rolls! They were big and very affordable for the quality with the average one at $16. We ordered 8 for the 6 of us and it was plenty big. We loved the Oh my God roll and the H3. The rainbow roll was also good as well as the harumi. And with wine, dinner was less than $40pp. A bargain with all the food. read more

My best friend and I went here on a girls date at the new location downtown which was way bigger than the other space with a outside seating which was a really nice Mister which kept you cool but not wet so that was nice. Our server was really friendly and knew the menu very well. It's a very casual romantic date night type of vibe but the food is still very well priced not too much just enough. I tried the sushi sampler which was like $22 and you get like over a roll in half we had potstickers, shishito peppers, these jalapeño popper types thingys that were very good. all the sushi was very fresh. Very good absolutely delicious if you're trying to have a casual little date night I'd definitely recommend this place. read more
I cannot say enough great things about this place. They have renovated or upgraded two times that I know of and this new place across the street is such a vibe. Also insane prices and incredible sushi. Everything was divine here. Went three times in two weeks. You will absolutely love it. What a hit, way to go Harumi! Also the service was always on point. I wish I remember our severs name he recommended in the mango roll to do tuna on the inside instead and it was delish!! His service was wonderful. Great young man! read more

Solid 4.5 Stars My daughter kept telling me how amazing Harumi Sushi was and I kept nodding my head. Well the day came where I finally made it to Harumi to grab a meal with my family. It was very underrated for me. The service is great, the lunch specials are beyond reasonable and they have Vegan & Gluten Free options! If you're downtown during lunchtime, run to Harumi Sushi Bar!!! The food is great and cannot wait until I make it back to sample more of the menu!!! read more

Yes, they offer a great variety of gluten free, and vegan rolls! Gluten free/low sodium soy sauce too!!! They are also great at customizing a roll, ie, taking something out for your vegan needs.
Is there a parking lot for the restaurant and if not what are closest parking location?
Metered parking, there is a garage in the financial building but it costs a lot. Entrance is between central and first ave on Adams. You can get it validated for a little bit off at the bar or one of the shops on the ground floor.

No - but the menu is generic across all ages groups.. don't think you will have any problems - have taken my kids before and never an issue.
