We were coming back from paradise garden in Summerville and decided to stop here due to the ratings and some of the pictures. The atmosphere is neat with the exposed bricks and wood floors. The waiter added to the friendly ambiance. he was a charismatic older gentleman with greying hair with a expansive knowledge of the small lunch menu. We started off with the sweet potato chips with Gorgonzola dip which was devoured pretty quickly. I had the barbecue sandwich with the Carolina sauce. I wanted to try both sauces but I wasn't brought the extra sauce after asking twice. The sandwich meat did not have much flavor and was dry. The dryness was partly because they brought the sauce on the side but was supposed to be on the sandwich. The sides I had were the cheese grits and sweet potato soufflé. The cheese grits weren't exactly what I was looking for. The soufflé was okay it was pretty generic tasting with no frills or pizazz. My brother had the "red haired stranger" burger. He Really enjoyed the candied jalapeños and asked for more! He had the collard greens and mashed potatoes which he said he really enjoyed as well. My girlfriend had the meatloaf sandwich with Mac and cheese and French fries. The sandwich was quit, she was only able to eat half. She advised that it was good, but very dense from the breadcrumbs used to make the meatloaf. She did enjoy the onion straws that came on the sandwich. She liked the Mac and cheese, but said the French fries, that came seasoned with salt and pepper, were too salty. She shared them with the table, but they weren't a big hit. On the positive side, she said the homemade ketchup was very good! We all enjoyed the fresh sweet tea, which was quickly refilled by our very attentive and personable waiter. read more

This place feels like one of the few historic real downtown rest's left in the country. Love the interior of exposed brick and hardwood floors. I've never been disappointed w/ any meal i've ever eaten here. but my fav has to be their carolina crabcakes w/ sweet potato chips and gorgonzola dip on the side. They have this new "thrive" menu as well if you're trying to be super health-conscious, but even w/o it their ingredients are always super fresh. amazing place to be tucked away in a small town. they need to open a location in ATL. I'm in Rome for work and have come here twice since it's near my hotel. The first time was for dinner with my coworkers. The food was good, drinks delicious (but pricey), and our waitress was fantastic. The second time I came for lunch by myself. Table was covered in food from a previous customer, drink glass was filthy, and waitress was horrible. She acted completely put out that I didn't want to drink from a dirty glass and told me there was no hot sauce in the crab cake (there is). She dropped off my food and check without a word. I went to Harvest Moon for lunch today and had a great meal. I'm on a low carb diet, so I'm avoiding breads, rice and most sugars, so meals are a challenge. I was looking through the menu and going back and forth between a salad and the meat+veggies and my server came and told me about a special they had, a roast beef, pimento cheese, BACON and veggie quesadilla. I asked if I could get it without the tortilla. The plate came out with roast beef, BACON, sautéed peppers, onions, and mushrooms covered with melted pimento cheese. I was in heaven! For a side, I had Black-eyed Pea Salad. It was a cold black-eyed pea concoction with diced peppers and scallions in some kind of vinaigrette. All in all, it was a very good lunch! read more

Cute, eclectic place in downtown Rome. I had the house specialty, Pimento cheese. It was unexpectedly spicy, served open-faced and melted on a piece if soft white bread & I choose a side salad with low fat Mediterranean dressing and was pleasantly surprised with the meal. I waited until my second visit to review just to make sure it is really this good. The first time I tried the blue cheese dip with sweet potato chips .. beyond yummy and a philly sandwich. This time I had the red headed stranger burger.. again, yummy. The service has also been great on both occasions. Our group of eight Cousins enjoyed our monthly lunch get together at Harvest Moon on a busy Saturday. A variety of menu items were selected and everyone enjoyed their food greatly. Great restaurant. We found this restaurant on our way home from an Alabama Shakes concert in Alpharetta, Ga. Everything we ordered was made fresh and very good. There was one dish I had that I don't believe was fresh. The sweet potato soufflé. I question it because of the darker color. The way to tell if a sweet potato dish is fresh is by the color. Fresh yams will yield a brighter orange color and canned will give a darker color. Don't take my word. Try it yourself. And.... ask them if you eat there, but everything else was very good. read more

My wife and I set were visiting from out of town. We stopped for lunch on Sunday, since it was one of the highest rated restaurants in Rome. To be honest, we were very disappointed. On Sundays, they only have the brunch buffet available. There are no regular menu options. The food just did not taste fresh, and left much to be desired. Maybe on another day of the week, the food would have been much better. I do not recommend Harvey Moon for Sunday lunch. read more

My wife and I were in Rome for just the night and got in late. The hotel made a recommendation of the Harvest Moon. We thought it was a cute place, lots of atmosphere, but weren't prepared to be blown away with the meal. We decided this was the best meal we've had in a year since a Florida trip and we've eaten out a lot. I had the Three Little Pigs, which was a pork chop with a cherry sauce that was wonderful. The dish also included hot pork rinds, which was fun and a great presentation. The vegetables included sliced and grilled Brussel Sprouts and they were great. My wife had the triggerfish and it was excellent also. We traded around and I ended up with the fried grits and they were a real surprise. Do yourself a favor, if you're in Rome (Ga), do as the Romans probably do, eat at the Harvest Moon Cafe. read more

We went for dinner last nigh, party of four. Ordered the Cobb salad, two burgers, and a $10 house salad to split because we were splitting one of the burgers. We asked for the salad in two bowls with honey mustard and vinaigrette dressing, no tomatoes and feta on the side. We ordered both burgers to both be medium well done. The food comes and the salad comes with the rest of the food (fine) in one bowl with feta and tomatoes and one type of dressing. We asked for the second dressing and another bowl and see that the burger is cut in half because we are splitting and it is PINK! We send the burger back while we split the salad. The burger come back and looks done on the outside. we bite in and still so so so pink! We end up sharing one half the burger that was more done than the other. My son's burger was soooo pink too but he didn't send it back after seeing ours was still pink the 2nd time. The server asked how things were and we told her she said she agreed with us and took it to the chef. He told her if we didn't want any pink should said well done. This is not true. There are many ways to cook a burger not just dry and burned or red. We argued with her that we didn't eat half our meal because it wasn't cooked the way we specified. She said again, she agreed with us and went to her manager whom she said she showed the food to. No manager or cook ever came to our table and the server came back with a $5.00 discount on a $60 tab. While I don't mind paying for my food, we were very specific when ordering and the establishment showed no interest in making sure our experience was a good one. We took our son to chick fil A to get him some dinner since he ate around the edge of half the burger and some fries. We won't be back since we know if something goes wrong you're on the hook and they aren't going to make it right. Shame, because it is such a cute place. read more

This is usually one of my favorite restaurants in Rome and we always make a point of eating there at least once when we visit. However, my meal on Friday was very disappointing. Service was very slow... half the table was served and half had nothing for quite a while. Entrees came out ahead of appetizers and salads. And my $19 salmon was the most disappointing meal I have had in quite some time. Lunch portions of salmon I get on my salads are bigger than this. read more

I end up avoiding it overall due to the staff -- my experience consistently is that the staff just aren't personable, ie. when calling to place a togo order, the response seems like my order is an annoying chore. My pecan crusted chicken was simply cardboard chicken with a glaze and pecans. I was disapointed because this simple dish is one of my favorites when done correctly. I travel almost every week for my job. I always try to support locally owned businesses. Came here because they had a very nice menu with a veggie plate for non-meat eaters. I ordered green beans, broccoli and fried green tomatoes for $7. Food was adequate at best. Green beans were VERY cooked (which I find is often the case when I order them on the road). Broccoli was cooked perfectly but had no seasonings at all. I would have asked For lemon or butter had the server ever returned to check on me. The fried green tomatoes were ok. A little salty for my tastes but I did eat them. I usually like jalepeno corn bread (in fact, I had a piece last night at another establishment). But I was unable to enjoy it here because it was just too darn hot for my liking. As I said before server never checked on me until I was finished and he brought me the check. Please note, as I looked around at other diners, their food looked very good. So take your chances! read more

It was obvious that since we were an early seating, the waitress was trying to rush us out so they coukd seat those waiting. The check came right after the entrees. My plate was swiped before I completely finished my meal. She just came from behind and grabbed it when I was reaching for a napkin. After the check, we were waiting for refills but she never came back. Despite bad service, the place seemed very nice and the food is good. I just wish we had somone different. Stopped here on a day trip to Rome. Was recommended by someone familiar with it in our party. Great comfy, casual atmosphere. The service was great and our waiter was very kind and helpful with navigating us first-timers through the menu. We all ended up choosing the "meat and veggies" options which basically includes an entree of your choice plus however many "veggies", aka sides, you want. The food was wonderful. Everything we picked was great. The broccoli and bacon thing was my favorite. Similar to a coleslaw but with broccoli instead of cabbage. The portions are generous and at a very reasonable price. There is also a full liquor bar and an extensive beer and wine selection. There is also a pet friendly patio seating option. Will definitely be back to visit this place if I'm ever in Rome again! read more

We came for brunch on a Saturday because we were in town for a wedding. They had a great lunch menu, but we had missed the cutoff for any breakfast or brunch type treats. The restaurant wasn't too busy, but the service was extremely slow. I wouldn't recommend coming in on a Saturday. The food was good, and they had traditional southern-style food with a twist.
