Lorraine was truly a god send for our wedding in May 2015. Through word of mouth, my fiance and I knew immediately, after we got engaged (December 2013), that we had to utilize her services. The biggest hurdle of our planning process was probably the fact that I was 2,000 miles away in Georgia, from our wedding venue in Los Gatos. Lorraine was super flexible and was great when it came to communication. I emailed her on MULTIPLE occasions freaking out about the smallest details of the wedding and Lorraine was able to resolve my erratic concerns not only professionally, but also in a long-time-BFF kind of way. Lorraine is the most down-to-earth wedding planner I've encountered (and trust me, I consulted with many) that is also SUPER organized. I didn't have to worry about a thing! If I had any questions regarding budget, timeline, deadlines, etc, all I had to do was ask her and she would have the answer for me. This review is long overdue! Due to the pandemic, my sister had to postpone her wedding, so she decided to have a micro wedding in our family's backyard. It was extremely stressful as we were trying to find ways to be as safe as possible to pull this off. We enlisted Lorraine for help and she was a dream to work with. I will admit that I was one of those brides who was very skeptical about wedding coordinators. I thought I could do it all myself, and didn't understand why anyone would spend so much money on coordination services. I had booked all of my vendors, and thought I had ironed out all the details myself, but as the big day drew nearer, I realized there was no way I could execute everything the day of without having someone else manage the logistics. I started looking into hiring a day-of coordinator three months before my wedding (a little late in the game), and, after interviewing a few different people, I decided to hire Lorraine for her month-of coordination services. I made my decision based on three things: first, Lorraine has a calm and methodical demeanor that made me feel comfortable entrusting the wedding day to her. Second, Lorraine had recently done a photo shoot at my venue, and was already familiar with the proprietor and---coincidentally---the hair and makeup artist I had hired for the wedding. Third, I felt that my large Chinese family---some of whom were traveling all the way from Taiwan to attend the wedding---would feel more comfortable working with a coordinator who was also Chinese. Even though Lorraine does not speak Mandarin, she completely understood where I was coming from culturally, and even offered to lend me her own wedding chipao to wear for my big day (I ended up having a chipao made for myself, but I thought it was very generous of her). Lorraine helped me every step of the way, and took charge of contacting all of my vendors and making sure everyone was on the same page. She also set up two separate meetings with me: we first had a design consultation about two months before the wedding to figure out some of the smaller details---decor, linens, flowers, setup, etc. I walked away with a detailed list of things I had to buy or take care of, which was very helpful. Then, a week before the wedding, I had a final meeting with Lorraine to go over the day-of logistics: the timeline, when and where people were supposed to show up, the shot list for the photographer, etc. But all of that said, I didn't fully appreciate the value of my investment until the day of the wedding. Lorraine really took all of the day-of worries off my hands and took care of business! In fact, she refused to give me a copy of the wedding day timeline at the rehearsal because she insisted that she didn't want me to be thinking about it. Anyways, on the morning of the wedding, Lorraine showed up with two assistants, each of whom was equipped with a walkie-talkie so that they could all be in constant contact throughout the day. One of the assistants (Izzy) was assigned to be my personal assistant and would stay by my side all day, while Lorraine and her other assistant set off to work on setting up the ceremony and reception sites and helping the other vendors set up. Izzy was THE BEST. She seemed to anticipate my every concern and need at every turn, and always had whatever I needed---shoes, my change of clothes, hairspray---before I even asked for it. It also seemed that Lorraine brought Izzy along with me specifically in mind, because Izzy spoke Chinese and was able to work seamlessly with my Chinese-speaking family members. For example, my dad came into the cabin where I was waiting before the ceremony, and seemed a little nervous about the whole thing. But Izzy was very encouraging and spoke to him in Chinese, which I think went a long way in making him feel comfortable. Thank you, Izzy! Lorraine and her team also did a fantastic job setting up the wedding and making everything look beautiful. I had looked through some of Lorraine's work on her website and was confident that she had the aesthetic know-how to set things up, so I just told her to make things "look pretty." She completely delivered: she lent me some votives that she had on hand, as well as a bunch of antique books, and made all of the tables, including the registration and gift tables, and our dessert bar, look amazing! One last thing: i had broken my foot two weeks before the wedding, and Lorraine completely adjusted the day-of flow to accommodate my mobility limitations. For example, she put a pair of wedges under my seat at the reception dinner so that I could change out of my uncomfortable heels when the walking got to be too much. It's just one example of how careful Lorraine is with every last detail, and the lengths she goes to to make sure you feel comfortable on your wedding day. Lorraine was the wedding coordinator for my friend's wedding that I was a bridesmaid for. Regarding the day of the wedding she was great. She was actually fantastic! She has this super calm demeanor that makes everybody feel at ease like nothing is wrong, but she's also very firm and makes sure things happen when they need to. She's incredibly organized and is very attentive and aware to what the bride and groom needs and is able to execute all that needs to be done. Guests at my friends wedding were so impressed by her work that they were trying to get her for their wedding too! She's honestly awesome and I feel like she's one of the best coordinators around. She also has a great eye for style so if you're creative side is feeling stuck, she can probably make recommendations and help you with styling the wedding. My friend, the bride, has expressed over and over about how great Lorraine was throughout the process too. She will contact you to make sure everything is going as planned and will literally help you every step of the way. Lorraine is a magical fairy that sprinkles her magical coordinating dust around and poof! Your wedding is amazing. Like my friend Angel (see her Yelp review for her experience), I was initially skeptical about a wedding coordinator and the accompanying increase in wedding costs. But I quickly realized I wanted -- no, NEEDED -- someone to make things just go on the day of. I didn't want to look back at my wedding day and regret being stressed out that not everything was in place at the right time, or being rushed because I had to set everything up myself. I didn't want to be pestered with a million questions by well-meaning family and guests about where to go next or where xyz was. I wanted my husband and I to be able to enjoy the day -- and thanks to Lorraine, we did. And above all, our wedding ran completely on time! We hired Lorraine for month-of coordination, and she worked seamlessly with the venue and our other vendors to put everything in place during crunch time. Even though it was blazingly hot the week of the wedding, Lorraine was calm, cool, and collected through it all while I was a sweaty ball of stress. She is superbly organized and took careful notes on everything we asked for. Her assistants were also invaluable: holding my bouquet, carrying around water for me and my makeup touch-up kit, fixing my petticoat, etc. She and her team set everything up beautifully, from the dinner tables to the favors to the tea ceremony to the decorations to the cake. And did I mention that Lorraine has excellent taste? If you're looking for a Pinterest-worthy wedding, she can absolutely deliver. Our tastes were much simpler than that, but she executed flawlessly from my mumbly vague directions to "put these candles in these jars and scatter the succulents around randomly." Not only that, but Lorraine went above and beyond the call of duty by providing her own supplies for our use and enjoyment: reserved signs for ceremony seating, little baskets for foisting succulent cuttings on guests, even glowsticks for the dance party. To further prove her selflessness, she even offered the use of her own china for our tea ceremony when we were trying to figure out logistics without a kitchen. Although I did not get the chance to work with Lorraine for my upcoming wedding, I was so impressed by her responsiveness to my email inquiries within a day. From the way she articulated herself through our email exchanges, I could immediately tell she was passionate on what she does. One thing to note is that Lorraine is no longer doing any Chinese vendor weddings due to the language barrier. Too bad my wedding is going to be at a Chinese restaurant..... otherwise, I would hire her right away. I've had the privilege and pleasure of working alongside her on a few occasions (weddings and bridal/wedding inspiration editorial photo shoots) and I 100% recommend her for wedding: planning, styling, and coordinating in a heart beat! What I love most about Lorraine is her dedication and creativity. I think she must spend hours collecting and thinking up ideas and inspirations because she really brings it to the table in terms of wedding styling and design-- she has a knack for beauty and class! Lorraine is extremely creative and shares her DIY projects with brides to make their weddings personal, original, and fun. She is great at working out and managing all the little details that come together to make the big awesome picture. Also, Lorraine is very thorough and sketches her plan ideas and brings everyone to the same page. I love her sketches (she water colors them too!). Brides take note. When your wedding planner/stylist is this good, the rest of your vendors will thank you. From a photographers point of view, GOOD wedding planners are gift from the heavens. If your day of timeline starts getting off the tracks and everything starts running late, it cuts into other things such as Bride and Groom Portraits, maybe take out some group shots, etc. Five minutes late here for makeup, five minutes late here getting ready, five minutes late here getting to the venue, etc, adds up and soon we're 30 min behind schedule. For photographers, we need that time to let loose and be creative to take great photos, it's our lifeline. If the reception isn't ready in time, we can't take photographs of all the details you planned for. Family needs to know where to go for photos, instead of getting a little tipsy at cocktail hour while everyone else is trying to track them down. A good wedding planner helps with all of this. Lorraine does all this and helps keep the wedding running smoothly. I've worked with her on several weddings where she did full service planning, and I've never had to worry on my end. She also is very accomodating to the guests AND vendors, and is polite to everyone. She takes charge so that the Bride doesn't have to, and always consults with all the vendors when it's almost time to start things such as the first dance, cake cutting, etc, to make sure everyone is ready to go. She also has amazing style and an eye for details. As a photographer I am drawn to aesthetically pleasing colors, composition, and details, so whenever I do a shoot with Lorraine, I'm always blown away with what she comes up with. TRUST ME, if you are on the fence about hiring a wedding coordinator, or a wedding stylist to take care of your wedding, just pull the trigger. I booked Lorraine VERY early on into my wedding planning (Feb 2014, and my wedding was May 2015) I'm a very DIY-oriented person and I knew that I couldn't get the venue setup done without help, so I booked her! Not sure if I stumbled upon her on a wedding review website or yelp, but regardless I am extremely happy with my decision to book her as my month of coordinator. I met with her in person several times, and I corresponded with her through email many times. Also, her document management and organization skills are EXCELLENT, and being type A, I appreciated that so much. Since the beginning she has always put me at ease when it came to answering my questions or picking her brain about the logistics, and she was very easy to talk to. Navigating through wedding planning is TOUGH and I was relieved to have her. Throughout wedding planning I was very detailed about my plans, setup and instructions and on the day of, the venue looked better than I had ever imagined. Lorraine brought a few helpers for the day to set up and attend to the wedding party, and they were all excellent and very accommodating and nice! My parents loved her. Since I was planning a wedding in California from out-of-state, she even went out of her way to check out vendors for me when I was not in California. Originally my husband and I were thinking we'd coordinate the whole thing ourselves since we are both accustomed to managing projects, but I am so glad I had friends ask me "do you really want to be preoccupied with the details on your big day?" I tend to like to double- or triple- check that things are taken care of, so on the day of I still did a little texting with the make-up person and photographer to confirm arrival times, and found that Lorraine had already been in touch with them and we were aligned on timing for everything. No detail slipped through the cracks with Lorraine; she did a stellar job of keeping it all organized and making everything look beautiful! It was also wonderful to have Jess with me for most of the day -- she even helped with bustling my dress right after the ceremony! They did so many thoughtful things throughout the day, like having water ready and bringing us appetizers since we missed out on most of cocktail hour for photos. It was also incredibly helpful to have Lorraine accompany us as we visited each table at the wedding reception during dinner; she kept us on a ~1.5 min/table timeline that allowed us to at least briefly engage with everyone. The end of the night was also stress-free with their help; they cleaned everything up and had it loaded into our car (with help from a couple wedding attendees we had asked to help in advance of the wedding) in no time. Lorraine was everything we could have asked for in a wedding planner, and more! When we first began the wedding planning process, we had a venue and vision for our wedding weekend but knew that our busy work schedules would make it hard to turn everything into reality. We needed someone who could keep us on track, answer questions, provide vendor recommendations, design the final decor, and pull it all together the day of. Lorraine was exactly what we needed, and not only did she turn our vision into a reality, but made the process fun and (relatively) painless for us. Her calm and reasoned approach gave us a lot of confidence. And the final results were beautiful! A couple of highlights: Organization: she kept us on track with clear, easy to follow lists and monthly status checks. She didn't miss a thing and kept everything simple. Despite having worked in the wedding industry for over eight years, when it came time to plan my own wedding celebration, I was blown away by the level of service and attention that Lorraine offered. Her communication was always timely and patient, despite my crazy late-night texts regarding potential Craigslist finds for our tea ceremony! We hired Lorraine to help plan our traditional Chinese tea ceremony but in reality, she provided SO much more.
