Hash Kitchen is an Arizona based group of brunch restaurants that are soon to go nationwide. They offer a long list of all kinds of dishes, crazy drinks, a Bloody Mary with food buffet and it's busy, energetic and VERY LOUD inside with music and a disk jockey. I tried to dine at the Peoria location but they were on a hour and a half wait to get in. A week later I tried the Gainey Ranch location and the wait was similar. This week I noticed that this North Scottsdale location and the Arcadia locations have wait list threw Yelp so getting in is easy and quick. I tried the Bloody Mary bar buffet. You have choices with the flavor and heat of the Bloody Mary and then pile up all the food you want on sticks. You can get full with just the Bloody Mary buffet. They offer lots of different pickles, eggs, cheese, some meat and lots more. For brunch I tried the hot Louisiana chicken and waffle. I do have to say that the waffle was incredibly GREAT! It was so light and fluffy. The waffle was really the best waffle that I have ever had. But the chicken was tough and difficult to cut. It also had a soggy exterior and was tangy and not so spicy. But the waffle was amazing! My husband had the green chili pork hash. We don't think that this is actually hash because to be hash the potatoes are suppose to be cooked with the meat. The potatoes looked fried and added. Anyway the green chili was good. Three stars is a positive review on Yelp and translates to A-OK. Worth a Try! read more

For my last meal in AZ my friends suggested Hash Kitchen. They're definitely super invested in brunch and try to 'take it to the next level.' There's a lot of hashtags everywhere and a DJ, it definitely seems like they super hard to get that brunch is cool attitude. I'm not necessarily for that but fortunately you can mitigate that a bit by sitting outside and you can separate yourself from some of those shenanigans. So, if you take out some of the more...gaudy trappings what you get is a super hearty meal with some fairly fun twists food and drink wise. The Ultimate Brunch Hot Dog was good, you get that bacon wrapped goodness with the egg and hash brown together. The table next to me had a mimosa flight and that looked fun so I ended up getting that as well. I did not get the glitter bomb because that's just not how I roll, more power to you if you do but not me. The kiwi one was the only one that was a misfire but the rest were good. Service was great, I thought with all the glitter and DJs and stuff staff would be like activity directors on cruises but they were normal. Be sure to save room for dessert, my local friends brought me here because of the cannoli donuts. I was wondering why they would bring me here; they're a little older and definitely not the type of people I pictured here. First time here and I have mixed feelings. Came in with a party of 5 for a business breakfast. The menu offers tons of great options and the food was delicious. The ambience is cool but the blaring music on a weekday morning was a bit much. That coupled with mediocre service is what led to 3 stars and not a higher rating. It was not that busy but the server was MIA for long periods of time. From no coffee or water refills to me needing to ask someone else for our bill and to get cashed out, service needs improvement. Back to the food though, it was really good. The potato tacos were flavorful, crunchy and a must order item. I got the birria on the side as I unsure how good it is... wrong move on my part. It was delicious and you must get it inside the potato tacos. Everyone else loved their food as well, just disappointed that we needed to speak so loudly and that the service was lacking. Grabbed Hash Kitchen off door dash right before we headed back to the airport from a long weekend in Scotsdale. Portions are absolutely huge! I give this an 8/10 just for the simple fact that we didn't have it fresh. Would love to try the actual restaurant next time in town. CHRIS ROCKS! He was nice, kind, funny and completely capable of handling large party groups. He listens and has a great memory. I am a hard critic on service because it's hard to find good servers. He deserves recognition for sure! The food was great. There was nothing at our table of 10 that was not amazing. The mimosa flight is good if you want variety but if you buy individual mimosas I think it's a better deal. Excellent place. One downfall for those older folks and hard of hearing. We were seated right away. The menu is expansive and it is hard to pick just 1 thing. We shared the mimosa flight which was really large and plenty for 2 people. I had the Effin Big Breakfast Sandwich. It was good but need a sauce as it got dry. It didn't come with anything and I didn't think to ask. My husband had a skillet which looked amazing. Initially wanted to sit outside because it seemed loud inside with the DJ and all, but rather than wait for a table we took a booth inside and within 2 minutes realized it wasn't too loud, and enjoyed the tunes throughout our meal. Have to say I enjoyed my peach mimosa but looked a little skeptical at the sweetness level of my husbands s'mores coffee concoction (I don't use sugar in My coffee and he does so the drink was not too sweet for him) Great service. Pineapple is very strong and so is the strawberry in terms of taste. Blueberry, is the most subtle. We ordered a handful of things as we were a large table eggs Benedict, s'mores French toast, a salad, biscuits and gravy, a big breakfast, and breakfast pizza). All of the food was good, the s'mores French toast being the favorite. Egged Benedict, we've had better but they weren't awful! There seems like a handful of good places to take photos inside and somewhere different to go while visiting. Our bride loved it! When I am visiting different states, I love to try restaurants that are not otherwise in my city. My family recommended Hash Kitchen and I was excited to try it because I loved hearing about the concept. Great music (live dj on the weekend), great drinks and good food, right? I wasn't able to visit on a Saturday due to timing and I knew the dj part would be out for me (I went on a Monday afternoon) and I was ok with that. We also knew that closing time is early here (2 pm) and we even called the restaurant to ask if it was ok if we arrived later in the day (1:30 pm). We were told that as long as we made it by 1:50, we would still be served. Our waitress (Kate, I believe?) was really nice and friendly. She came over to get us started with drinks and all and I was still excited at this point. Things really went downhill for me when one of the kitchen staff came out and was rushing us telling us that the kitchen was about to close and that he needed to get our order back there so that they could "get started before the register closed for the day". I was perplexed because (1) he was not our server and (2) our server had already started taking care of us and didn't mention anything about registers closing down. I thought it was very rude of him to do that. We also overheard him rushing the party behind us as they were finishing up. I ordered a mango flavored mimosa and my sister ordered the mimosa flight which was 4 mimosas in a cute little tray. I wasn't impressed, but....*shrug*. The breakfast was the real disappointment thought. I didn't understand why leeks were the star in both of these entrees. I probably was flustered after being accosted by register dude. In my shrimp and grits, the shrimp were big and juicy (win) but the flavor was just lacking. It was basically a plate of leeks on top of grits on top of home fries. I asked for no egg but I almost wonder if that would have gave it a little more kick had I left it. But, I don't like eggs. The chicken and waffles were the same sadness. I shared it with my husband and was not pleased. A plate of leeks on top of a mediocre waffle with chicken tenders that were not good at all. They were dry and hard to pull apart. It was a disappointing waste of money coupled with the rudeness from the register guy (who I honestly think was the cause for the bad food). Our server disappeared for a bit during the meal which was unfortunate because we ran out of syrup for that dry chicken and were just kind of sitting there. Based on this, I'm not sure I'll return again when I come back out to AZ to visit. I've had better. Maybe the vibe is what draws people in? I wouldn't know. read more

After 15 minutes more, we were able to order. 45 minutes later, our food arrived. My omelette was cold. We had to flag down someone for ketchup as the food runner sprinted away before we could ask for condiments. As someone who has worked in this industry for nearly 20 years-- and from someone who has probably bartended or served at least 1,000 brunches, I have one huge piece of feedback for the staff at Hash. Yes there are two tacos and birria sauce but the meat is not in the taco, the tacos are hot and greasy so you can't really dip it...and the meat, potatoes just didn't have any flavor. Oh where to start... We had a reservation for six at 10 AM. That was the best part. They sat us pretty fast. Mind you I HATE sitting on high tops. But as always, it's the food that piques my interest, and makes me go back to a restaurant. In this case, for my meal I had The Best F#*%ing Birria Hash, this delicious meal served in a skillet. It had hash potatoes, slow chile-braised beef, cheese, onions, cilantro, and a couple of fried eggs on top, served with a consumme, and taco shells. First, it was perfectly seasoned, and everything was hot. The braised beef was exceptional, a real treat to eat. Bringing it all together with some hot sauce and those taco shells, made for three delicious breakfast tacos as I devoured this amazing dish. I have nothing but great things to say about it, and it was just another amazing dish on a really great culinary journey while in Scottsdale. Vibes were great- my biggest mistake was taking my car because I could have spent hours crushing bottomless mimosas. Instead, I took the complete opposite route... drove and ordered a black coffee. That's on me, and it's something I'll need to live with for the rest of my life. Trust me, I'll never make that mistake again. We ordered the avocado toast and the breakfast potato tacos. Both were really good. The reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that I felt as if there were too many "over the top" options. The hashes looked incredible, but I felt as if I'd be incapacitated for the next 48 hours after eating one.
