This was probably the worst breakfast experience I've ever had. It's unfortunate because the food and service was really good but the atmosphere was awful. There were four couples seated together in the middle of the room with four very loud children under the age of five. We found Hash about a year ago. We were trying different spots for breakfast before or after church service. What got my attention at Hash was the coffee. I'm a coffee snob. The coffee at Hash is easily the best in the area, if not farther. Hard to find a better cup of coffee outside of Colombia (the country, not the university). The breakfast menu is creative. For example, this morning I had prime rib and eggs. Yummy! Everything we've had at Hash has been perfect. The chef and cook! and quickly. No long waits at Hash. Hash was one of our primary destinations for a Saturday tour of the Roundout Valley. While coming up with a plan for the day, I had spent an inappropriate amount of time pouring over the menu and website. I found myself asking questions, like, "Why both toast and croissant?", "Salad with breakfast?", and "Could I manage both a german hot chocolate and a house made soda?". After meeting Hash my recommend is this: if it is there on the menu, it's for a very good reason. Let the chef show you a few things. Mike and I both had the tacos because we crave real tacos and thought that these could be the real deal. They were. House made roasted tomatillo salsa, grilled corn tortillas, juicy pork and bean filling, plus the cilantro slaw. Real tacos with panache. We both had a house made soda. Mike had root beer and I had the hibiscus and rose hips. Refreshing, slightly fizzy, barely sweet. Hash is the brain child of professionals who know how to make a restaurant work in its locale. I could go on about the fresh ingredients, balanced flavors, a mix of the familiar and things contemporary on the menu, and the dining area filled with natural light. Arrived after a long drive, hoping to have some good food. Walked in and sat down, only to be presented with a menu that said a cup of coffee is $2.25 PLUS each refill $1.75. Usually, at a restaurant for breakfast, 4 cups, including refills, is common all across America. $8.25 for coffee + the bacon and eggs. WHAT? The coffee was phenomenal and seemed to be brewed fresh for each cup. Came today, Memorial Day, with the family. We showed up a little after 11am and were seated immediately. We sat outside on the patio, 6 adults, 1 child, and 1 dog. Service was prompt and attentive, and the food was top notch! Everyone cleared their plates. Great eggs, bacon, and potatoes. The mushroom trio was a hit. The gluten free bread was so nice and fluffy, and the regular white bread was amazing too. The oatmeal was great and the berries were fresh and sweet. Everything, all of the food, was so so good. And the coffee! I had an affogato!! Aka espresso with ice cream. So good. I hope to go back to try the homemade sodas and everything else on the menu. Hash is consistently the best restaurant in Stone Ridge. Really good coffee, service and food. I enjoy my breakfast or lunch here on a regular basis. Wow wow wow this place is fan freakin tastic!! We stopped in to get breakfast and it was on the money. Our waiter Dante and the other server Courtney couldn't have been more kind and hospitable. We ordered the 209 breakfast suggested by Dante as first time customers and it did not disappoint! Eggs cooked gorgeously on top of fingerlings with mushrooms, sundried tomatoes with homemade sausage and bacon with delicious toast. Every bite was filled with flavor. The ambience and clientele of the place are very hip, very Brooklyn. Lots of beards and women straight from yoga class interspersed with a few wealthy, older former hippies and some dressed-in-black aspiring author types. I got a Vietnamese coffee (2 shots of espresso with sweetened condensed milk) that was served with the parts separated and a little spoon for you to mix it. The coffee was strong and satisfying. ($4.50) Also ordered a chamomile turmeric soda which was made in house and super tasty. It's served in a mason jar, of course. They have a number of unique flavor combinations for sodas that I'm excited to try next time I stop in. ($3.50) I ate the mushroom baked skillet. It came in a little skillet with a small side salad and two pieces of toast. The eggs were perfectly cooked and covered in a generous amount of super yummy cheese. The mushrooms were plentiful and also perfectly cooked. Everything was seasoned really well. No need for salt and pepper, though I asked for a side of Sriracha because I like my eggs spicy. ($12.50) The service was a little slow, but it was the lunch rush so I can't really blame them. My bill came to $22 before tip which is more than I would usually spend on lunch, but everything was delicious so it was worth it. I will be returning soon. read more

We loved Hash! My boyfriend and I spent a Wednesday night at Hasbrouck House just up the road and we came to Hash for a late lunch and again for breakfast the next day. I had the brisket sandwich (great) and he thought the lamb burger was outstanding. The salad and little roasted potatoes were perfect. For breakfast, we highly recommend the baked mushrooms. We went to Hash on a beautiful June day. We sat outside on the back deck. It was very lovely and peaceful. My friend and I shared the pork tacos. They were so flavorful and delicious. yummm! Then we shared the bread pudding with caramelized bananas for dessert. It was melt in your mouth delicious. My friend lives up there and I'm on Long Island. My wife and I have been going to this establishment for the last 4 years, starting back when it was called Lekka 209. We went there because of the great food and service. We were returning today to Saratoga Springs after watching the Jackson Browne concert in Bethel Woods. As we walked in the first thing that we noticed was that the deck had no tables and was closed. We also noticed that it seemed like there were less tables. Oh well we walked in and waited as is normal. We sat down and ordered juice and coffee. Took a few minutes and then the waiter came back for the order. We ordered and waited for the drinks. About 10 minutes later the coffees came, as well as the orange juice. The coffees came with no spoons do we used our knives to stir the coffee as the waiters seemed busy. We waited for the food, and waited, and waited. About 20 minutes later my wife's food came, but mine was nowhere to be seen. We waited for my order about 15 more minutes and watched 2 tables that came after us being served their food. At that point I asked the waiter what was going and and heard him order my food to the cook!! They had forgotten to pass my order. So I wait about another 20 minutes and my order finally comes. Noticed the bacon was overdone, toast was cold. The rest was ok as I figured you can't screw up eggs, mushrooms, potatoes and sausage. ( standard fare). At this point we also noticed that we were the only table not served water! So we are thirsty and eating our food. This was funny as the table that had sat after us was leaving before us and they also mentioned the slow service. We finally waited again to pay. We were extremely disappointed but not angry at the staff as they were clearly understaffed and running like chickens with their heads cut off. Need help there. Shame but I think we will try an alternative next time we go to stone ridge. read more

AN ABSOLUTE MUST TRY!!! The Spanish Chorizo Omelet was so incredible that I still dream about it. A perfectly made Latte topped with excellent service made for what was a truly enjoyable experience. Very vegan friendly menu that was a hit with my girlfriend and friends. Chef Moll's attention to detail as well as passion for his creations are evident in each and every bite you take. Not to mention that they have a wide variety of Coffee/Espresso/Tea/Hand Crafted Beverages to choose from if you are looking for a quick stop to get your day going. Truly do not get the hype. I've been twice now, once in the winter during the off season and once in early spring and had the same experience both times. Both times there was a wait not only to be seated but a wait to even have someone take our names down. There's nowhere to write your name when you come in so people just line up and stand around aimlessly until someone comes over to take down your names which in my experience has been at least 5-10 minutes after we walk in. I wouldn't mind that if the service from there on out was efficient but it's not. It was an appreciable amount of time before our food orders were taken and then at least 40 minutes for our food. We then had to wait a good 20 minutes AFTER our plates were cleared to pay. I just can't with this place. The food is fine, but it is certainly not worth nearly TWO HOURS of my time. I feel like I wasted my whole afternoon. And the attitude of the woman who took our names down and was our waitress was so, I don't even know, just awkwardly stand offish. When she went to take down my name she just stood right in front of me and looked up at me. No "hi can I get your name?" Or "hi how are you today thanks for coming in!" Felt like she thought she was doing me a favor? It was very odd. Similarly no real personality when we ordered or got our food. Was a very all business kind of attitude. While sometimes I appreciate people who are to the point, it makes the atmosphere seem so stiff and unwelcoming which is obviously the opposite of what they're going for. After two major disappointments I absolutely will not be going back here. It's a shame because I'm local. But there are other places where the food is just as good that don't cost me two hours every time I go. Let the Brooklyn / NYC weekenders spend a quarter of their Saturday or Sunday here while they sip over priced bone broth. I definitely won't be. read more
