Nothing is better than finding your new favorite Persian restaurant right in the middle of Anaheim while visiting for a multi day water polo tournament. We had many options for lunch today and when I chose Hatam I figured it was going to be like pizza even bad kebab is delicious. The little difference is I noticed were the Peppercini served with warm bread and onion as a simple appetizer. Another difference is the unlimited Persian tea otherwise known as chai and always make sure you choose the sugar cubes for the ultimate beverage drinking experience. My enthusiasm must've worked because I was able to get an order of Tadig as a hot appetizer which is only available on a limited basis especially for new customers. It's was amazing and a great way to break our fast at noon. The lunch specials are unbelievable. Kabobs, Fish, Stew, Lamb - you name it! We ordered the Dual topping Tadig with Ghormeh and Gheimeh: YES!!! Then we ordered the Bademjan with Beef and half rice/half salad and the Trout Fish lunch special. All this food and tea was just $36.95 before tax and tip. The service was so outstanding by our server Komeil. He made us feel welcome and at the end - he told us how much he loved the Bastani/Faloodeh combo. We had to try it too. It's called Makhloot (not on the menu) The BEST! a friend of mine took me here for dinner since its next door to our office, I was expecting a great experience but it wasn't great at all! the lady taking my order was very rude and seem bothered by me asking questions about the menu items like I was supposed to know everything about persian food (I'm Mexican) lol I clearly told her it was my first time there, of course the order was wrong because she was in a hurry to take the order and go do nothing by the cash register, never came back to check on our table if food was ok or if we needed anything, food was good to be honest but that doesn't matter when they make you feel unwelcome, she only came back to give us our bill (about 100 for 3 plates and 3 drinks) I was upset for the experience but I still tip 20% since i was in the industry for many many years I believe in supporting local , family owned restaurants, It wasn't till the day after when i was about to throw away the receipt that i saw a charge for 18% tip already added to the bill, for a table of 3 ?? that is straight THEFT!!! nowhere in the restaurant says that they add gratuity to ALL checks, so not only it was a BAD experience but i end up tipping almost 40 dollars to the rude lady! lol I was going to go back and talk to them but i know they do this often and won't accept they are stealing from customers so i'll let Karma take care of that, this could be a place to have lunch and dinner often for me and all my coworkers but obviously I will never go back to this place. read more

I requested my kebabs to be cooked medium rare and they executed that to my liking. they have a large menu, with many things to choose from including different flavored rice is, meats, slow cooked dishes, kebabs, and salads. my favorite dishes from this restaurant is the lamb shank, it is slow cooked and the meat is fall off the bone tender. The lamb is seasoned nicely, light and fragrant with a side of green dill rice topped with yellow saffron rice. The green rice is a little too heavily seasoned for me, I prefer the white rice with extra butter. The ground beef skewers are also juicy and fresh tasting. before Covid my husband and I used to dine in this location, it has a very relaxed and quiet environment that we both really enjoyed, as we do not like loud obnoxious music especially when we eat. The waiters and staff are always very kind and greet us with a smile when we walk in, even just for takeout now. Great appetizers but this place is mediocre when it comes to the entrees. The rice was bland, did not have the proper aroma of good basmati, and they use yellow food coloring to mimic the usage of saffron on the rice. The koobideh portion was large but the meat lacked the really delicious flavor that good Persian food is supposed to have. The salad olivieh was delicious and the tadig was fresh and tasty and the service was pleasant. With so many choices for Persian food within several miles, it's unlikely I'd come back. read more

There Kabab Burg, Makhlot, and Kobideh was the best. I recommend this place. They are awesome.

The food is really good but the service was awful. We waited 45 mins and asked 6 times before we all got our correct drink orders and it was 6 ice water with lemon, a coke, an ice tea, 2 apple juice and an oj (not hard). There was a spill at the table and i had to ask 3 times before anyone came to help clean it up. They charged us extra for a drink we didn't order. Everything took way too long to come out. We used to live literally around the corner from one of the best restaurants in Little Persia in West LA and we ate there a lot. But Hatam is better! First, they offer a great variety of rice blends which is always fun and they don't skimp on the added items. The kebab reviews from the group were all raves. But I'm all about the fesenjon (pomegranate and walnut stew) and this is the best I've ever had. And I've had it from a LOT of restaurants. Here, they go heavy on the walnuts, which somehow balances the flavors. It's almost creamy. And I'm not alone in this, I suspect. If you go late, there's a chance they will have run out! Nooooooo.... I really love their new location with a great patio and a cosy interior. The staff is attentive and friendly. The portions are big. All around, a great place to go! read more

Just north of the "Little Arabia" section of Anaheim on Brookhurst is Hatam, a Persian/Iranian restaurant in a strip mall. We started with the Eggplant Barani, which is a cooked and mashed spiced eggplant topped with yogurt and crisped shallots. This was a good a version as any and I topped the flatbreads with it and mixed it into my rice. My favorite kabob is the chicken koobideh, which is a ground chicken kabob, and I was pleased that they offered a combination koobideh of beef and chicken at the same price. Most restaurants will charge a premium to include both types of kabobs. The plate that arrived was one of the largest and certainly generous in portions. A heaping mountain of basmati rice was accompanied by 1 kabob each of ground beef and chicken and a toasted tomato. The kabobs were over a foot long, extending past the edges of the plate. Value aside, the dish was dry. Both the chicken and the rice really lacked moisture. I usually don't need to mix in butter with my rice but I felt the need to here. Also, the grilled tomato was on the small side, leaving less tomato juice to moisten. Noticeably absent was the grilled pepper. The Lamb Chop plate was very tasty. It was moist and not very gamey - I really enjoyed the flavorful marinade and the char on the chops. read more

We visited the shopping center where Hatam Restaurant's located to verify some property comparable features. Of course, when we saw Hatam, we had to check it out. SERVICE: we love our server (female). She's very friendly and communicative. She described each "new dish" that was served to us. FOOD SELECTION: very interesting choices, I must say. The only curiosity left is why is there a lot of "DILL" in most dish items, including the Yogurt Milk. That's the one that costed 1-star off this rating. This is our first time at Hatam so we may have probably ordered all the items that has that ingredient, who knows. THE WOW FACTOR: is its free appetizer: "THE ONION". we have never been served RAW ONION before in any of the Persian restaurants we regularly visited in Glendale. We tried it with trepidation at first... but delighted at how wonderful the flavors blended together after biting into it. Maybe they can make a better presentation of this great dish? We were shocked at the image of half a bulb of onion on the table, but then we eased up to it. We may visit again soon. read more

When my food came, there were all sorts of things on there that didn't belong (koobideh, lamb chops, etc.). Realizing my mistake, I figured I'd just eat what I had. Best mistake ever. I was thinking of a healthy meal one day and Hatam Restaurant fell on my lap. This Restaurant is located in Anaheim and this Persian joint did give me would I've asked for that is: Flavor, Portions, Chicken, and some Halal love! I've ordered the Chicken Shish Kabob served with persian rice, grilled chicken,grilled green peppers, grilled onions, and a single grilled tomato. I even used the butter that we got from the appetizer to spread on top of my rice (this i've learned over the years of going to many middle eastern restaurants) it adds taste to the rice. I also like to top it off with some of that prune tasting seasoning (sorry, not sure what it's called) but it adds a unique flavor, btw wait I did squeeze out the life of that lemon to shower it all in. My wife ordered one of their entrees, I forget the name of it but it had a half-cut of marinated chicken along with persian rice with some cherries in them. When that plate was brought to us we were like wow! thats a lot of food! Lol but hey this plate had flavor! The chicken was marinated to perfection and I say perfection! because it was tasty, it wasn't grilled but it was either boiled or something that made the meat come off the bone easily. I had heard a lot about this place, on our way to San Diego we stopped for lunch, service was the worst I have ever experienced, we were told the staff are too busy with the online orders therefore can't service us (don't seat customers if you don't want to service them) soda was flat tasted like sugar water.
