I live very close to Hattan Cleaners and have been going here for a couple years for my dry cleaning needs. Not once I have ever experienced a problem with customer service or how they handled my garments. This past week, I stained a blouse I needed to wear again that same week. I asked if they could do it for next day, they did it no problem and let me pick it up at a time convenient for me. I was a bit nervous as it was a white blouse with a navy stain from my suit jacket. When I went to pick it up, it looked brand new, no stain in sight! I was relieved and honestly, Hattan were life savers. I totally recommend Hattan Cleaners. Was visiting friends for the weekend during Thanksgiving and dropped by for a quick dropoff. I had previously dropped off an item thinking a 3 day turnaround would be plenty of time, but my mistake. First the price is ridiculous, and a ripoff. They tried to upcharge my garment because it was a brand. They further didn't have my garment ready, and it wasn't ready until the following week. Why try charging me for a rush job when it would've been faster to just process normally. During pickup I tried disputing the rush charge, but they gave some excuse of it being a special handling case. I didn't want to argue as there was a couple behind me, but the couple gave me a nod of the head to say they "know". Told my friend about the place, and she said that she never goes to Hattan due to a bad experience as well. Worst business ever bordering on fraud. read more

If you are going here for regular dry cleaning, there is nothing to complain about I guess. They don't have the added touches that other places do for this price but nothing noticably wrong. When it comes to tailoring though, stay away! I had a horrible experience here and when another tailor saw their work he thought it was laughably bad. I had the sleeves lengthened on a cashmere jacket that i spent over $500 dollars on. When I dropped it off they said "no problem." When I picked it up they had lengthened the sleeves but the vent or flap where the buttons on the sleeves go was gone and the sleeve was seeled like a long t-shirt sleeve. You don't have to be an expert tailor to know a suit doesn't look like that. They told me "it's not important" - I thought the customer tells them what is important! Not a good business model. Also, they shouldn't have sad "no problem" if they couldn't do a normal lengthening - they should have told me. In the end I took the jacket elsewhere and it looked like just bad work to that tailor. This new tailor was able to fix it for the same price that Hattan initially charged me for their horrible work. In the end Hattan wasted my time and charged me $40 for horrible work. I WOULD NEVER GO BACK! I had also taken the coat back to hattan to ask them to fix it before having another tailor look at it, and they told me it was impossible to do so. They claimed that there wasn't enough material. When the other tailor opened it up - there was ther material. They must have lied to avoid having to fix their poor worksmanshp or just don't know what they are doing. This sums it all up - I was told "our tailor is great. He has made whole suits before. He used to make suits in China." Have you ever worn a suit made in China!?!?! Horrible quality. I guess it makes sense now. read more

Good work, bad attitude. I was in a bind last Sunday when I needed a dress to be hemmed, and no other cleaner was open around my apartment besides Hattan. The woman who worked on my dress was pleasant, but then this morning when I went to pick up my dress, I was 'greeted' by the rudest associate I have ever encountered. I was on my way home from the gym and figured I would stop in at pick up my dress on my way home. After realizing that I had forgotten my credit card, I explained to the associate at the register that if I could take the dress with me now, I would leave my cell phone as collateral and be back right away to pay him (the place is 3 blocks from my apartment). I wasn't sure if he understood me, but regardless, he was down right RUDE, exclaiming that I could not do that. We argued back and forth until he actually WALKED AWAY from me, expecting me to just disappear (??). I would have politely backed down from my argument if he was somewhat nice. Not a great start to my day. If you have to go here, ask to speak with the younger guy who works there. If I had worked with him from the beginning, I probably would not be writing this review. I've been a Hattan customer for many years. I'm sad to say the service has really declined. I'm not sure if they're under new ownership, but in the last few months they have consistently failed to deliver all of my clothing, always claiming that I had received the items that had not been returned to me and making me feel foolish when I tried to correct them. So far everything has eventually turned up and has been returned, without an apology. It's frustrating to receive only part of what you had dropped off, but to be consistently blamed for their mistakes is inexcusable. When my clothing comes back, it is frequently still dirty and it now takes days for clothes to be returned. If the prior owners or managers returned I would happily continue to use them. however, for now, I'll be searching for a new drycleaner in the area. read more

I have been taking all of my cleaning to Hattan for 6 years, since I moved to the neighborhood and was told by everyone in my building that they were the best (note that there are several cleaners closer - I walk right by 2 others on my way to Hattan). They do a great job, fast, reliable, etc. and are an absolute pleasure to deal with. They remembered my name after the second time I went there and that means a lot. For a while I still took my alterations to a fancy tailor, but I had Hattan take care of a few small things and was so pleased that I now take all of my alterations to them. They re-lined my winter coat beautifully and last week I had a dress tapered from top to bottom. It was $36, done in 2 days, and came out perfectly. BUT HERE IS THE 5 STAR CLINCHER: After I got married, my $3000 wedding dress was covered in dirt and mud and had a wine stain on the front. I took it to a high-end cleaner uptown and was told that they probably couldn't get all the stains out and quoted me $500 to try. So I took it to Hattan instead. They said no problem, we'll take care of it for $100. I was skeptical. But when I picked it up, I couldn't believe how perfect it was. There was not a single trace of any stain anywhere. I have been going to Hattan for a few years and have always been happy with how they treated my clothing. Until this morning when I went to drop off a few blouses that had stains (food/drinks... nothing outrageous). They actually (rudely) told me that they DO NOT REMOVE STAINS. I don't know how a dry cleaners can claim they don't remove standard stains. But I was actually turned away and will never go back again. read more

I am so disappointed to have to change this review. After coming to this dry cleaner for over a year, I found the third instance of moth holes in my clothing. This time, it wasn't just an item I was willing to wear with the holes in it, but custom made suit pants. Two moth holes on each leg of custom made suit pants. You can imagine my frustration. I brought the pants into the dry cleaner to ask if they would be willing to help me pay to have them rewoven, and was told that they would not. They said they recognized me and were aware that I was a good customer, but that they have a policy of not paying for issues like this. If you have recurring issues like this, you need to fumigate your premises (and your off-site premises), and offer to cover some of the cost to fix the ruined item! I get that we live in manhattan and pests are an assumption here. But this business is does not take responsibility for their issues and, after over a year of returning here, I will now be taking my business to a responsible dry cleaner. read more

Poor dry cleaning quality. Even when I personally drop off items and mark stains, 50% of my clothes come back with the stains still present. Additionally, they have extremely POOR customer service. When I asked why they were sending clothes back to me with stains the gentleman (who is always) at the front said, and I quote, "we never advertise to be the best cleaners". This is a fantastic dry cleaner. I have moved since I first started started going to Hattan, and even though it's farther away, I've stayed loyal to them because the work is that good. They double check each garment after I drop it off and if anything needs stitching or extra work they send a text message to ask if I would like it taken care of. In the six years I have been coming to Hattan, they have never lost or misplaced any of my garments; the work is always done beautifully and on time; everyone there is very professional and friendly. I've been using Hattan cleaners for almost 2 years now. At first, I loved their service. Quick pickup & delivery and reasonably priced, at least with the laundry. However, after about 6 months some clothes started to come back looking like they'd only been rinsed and not washed, and my collared shirts come back with flat collars and the chest puffed out. It seems they changed their dry cleaning system to the point where I had to re-iron all of my shirts before I wore them. read more

I had just bought a new white suit jacket and wore it with a red shirt underneath. This caused some red stains under the arm, and I was so worried that it wasn't going to come out. So I looked for the closest cleaners and saw the good reviews for Hattan and decided to try it out. I told the man at the front that there was a stain and to see what he could do. They lost my shirt, yelled at me, and refused to compensate me for the loss. On top of that, the man who works there on the weekends doesn't speak english, and will tell you to come back on a different day if he can't find your clothes.
