This place is amazing! I've driven by it so many times and finally gave it a try- it did not disappoint! The guy at the register was helpful in a genuine way- poor dude is sporting a shoulder injury, but didn't slow him down. I got the Cuban steak plate with the grilled onions, which was amazing! Only complaint is the beans were more liquid than beans, but there are never enough beans for me and they were flavorful. I poured the sauce on my rice and ate every bite. The tres leches is beyond amazing though! It's soaked, but not soggy with cinnamon on top. I got it to go and gave my boyfriend exactly one bite then claimed it all for myself. They also have a pay it forward wall where you can give an amount of money for people experiencing a hard time. While I was there someone came in asking to wash dishes for some food and the register guy made sure he saw the cards and got fed. That is something special for this business to not only not look over those in need, but go out of their way to take care of them. While driving through Knaba, heading back to Texas, we stopped at the Havana Cuban restaurant. There were quite a few folks there so we were just excited to see it was a popular location. I didn't expect to see Cuban food in the middle of Utah, yet here we are. Grab a menu from the counter and have a seat or just order. Between the four of us we had: 1. Cuban Pork plate - tender pieces of roasted pork with rice and black beans. 2. The Smothered Burrito - a stuffed burrito covered with cheats sauce. My buddy had this and ate it heartily. The only comment I received from him was that it was very good. 3. Steak sandwiches- Slices of tender sirloin steak, wrapped in deliciousness. 4. I had the double western cheese burger. Two patties, cheese, bacon and an onion ring. It was very good but a little over cooked for me. All in all we enjoyed the location, the service was very helpful and attentive. We came here for the cubano sandwich which has been well reviewed. It was probably in the bottom 50% of cubano sandwiches we have had. The flavor was meh and the sandwich overall was quite dry. The cheese wasn't melty. We had it with mustard. We also tried the steak sandwich. There wasn't much steak in it and it was also very dry. We prefer our meat tender and juicy. The French fries had a light breading on them. This seems to be a popular thing now, but I personally don't prefer it. The tostones were also quite dry. They came with a sauce which was much needed. The service was good. You order at the counter and then they bring the food to you. It's open seating. They kept my water and my husband's iced tea full. I was craving Cuban food while visiting Kanab for my birthday. This place did not disappoint. Traveling with our dogs so we took the order to go. I called and the man on the phone was very nice. He verified the Kanab location and said it would take about 15 minutes. They also text you when it's ready. My boyfriend picked up the food and he said the place was cute and service was friendly. He also saw some outdoor seating. We got the pork plate and the steak plate. The steak in our opinion was the most flavorful. The pork was very tender but needed a bit more spicing. What a gem we found passing through Kanab. I was shocked to find a Cuban restaurant and my hubby was craving beans and rice so we stopped here for lunch. We had our little dog with us and they let us bring him onto the outdoor patio with us. The owner was concerned for us since it was chilly outside but thankfully we found a table with full sun so it was very comfortable. We ordered the Cuban sandwich, a Cuban rice platter and fried yucca. Service was prompt and delivered with a smile. The sandwich had a lot of meat and was very good. I could only eat half of it and took the rest to go. The fried yucca was delicious and especially the sauce that came with it, yummy! My husband enjoyed his platter of rice, black beans, pork, maduro, tostone and salad. When we wrapped up I went in and saw they have a pay it forward program. I had never seen that before so I had the opportunity to speak to the owner for a few minutes about it. It's a beautiful program for people from the community or passing through to help others in need of a meal. The place is super cute. We rode up to Kanab, Utah from Miami. Much to our surprise there was a Cuban restaurant here. The owner was very friendly and greeted us and told us of the specials. The specials were mostly what I would consider "local affair". We told him that we wanted the Cuban menu. He smiled and showed us the menu. We ordered a Cuban steak dish with "tostones". It came with white rice, black beans and maduros. We also ordered a Cuban steak sandwich with an appetizer of tostones with chicken. The food was rather authentic and very good. Service was friendly and prompt. We spoke with another guest who is from Switzerland and a frequent traveler to Cuba. She was also surprised and excited to find this place. I highly recommend this place if you want a taste of Cuban food and something different. The Spanish music was a nice touch. read more

After a whole day of hiking we decided to stay at Kanab before going to the Grand Canyon. We were quite hungry and thought to give this place a chance. We ordered pork plate and a steak plate and were quite disappointed with the food, even considering that this is a small town. The steak dinner was 4 or 5 pieces of small flat pieces of beef which had very watered down sauce. The pork was pulled pork which was seasoned with maybe a bit of vinegar, salt and pepper. I like my food low sodium where I rarely cook with salt but this tasted like the sauce was watered down at least 5 times where the cook was confused with making sauce for 1 person and 10. The "steak" was probably pre frozen eye of round and cooked on stove. It was really tough, even though it was thin. The rice was not cooked right either. The "steak" was so tough and dry it was really hard to cut, and even harder to chew. As the beans were the only food that was reaonably seasoned, we ended up slicing the meat as small as possible and dipped them in the beans. Ended up doing the same for rice and pulled pork as well as they too lacked flavors. To be fair, the ingredient were good quality (which was more sad it was cooked like this), salad was fresh, black beans were ok too (though probably just out of can). The portions size was adequate, and service was fast and nice even though there were many customers. Overall, even aside from blandness we couldnt tell how this was cuban aside from a small piece of griddled plantain and a small piece of fried plantain that was served. The food tasted like watered down americanized mexican food. Later I was told the whole town was full at capacity as there was an unexpected snow the day before. Maybe the kitchen wasn't prepared for this many customers and had to rush or use frozen reserves. Anyways we decided to skip getting dessert or ordering anything else here and grabbed snacks from the grocery instead as our disappointing dinner wasnt enough for us after 6 hours of hiking and driving. read more

We dined here for breakfast prior to departing Kanab for the Balloons & Tunes weekend and I immediately wanted to recognize this lovely establishment that has landed in one of our most favorite Utah hideaway towns. There were six of us and every bit of our order was on point. The food was delicious, we nearly licked our plates clean. The refried beans and cheese were to die for. The arepas and pancakes amazing. Every last bit of breakfast burrito bigger than my husband's head was devoured. My only regret is I didn't order the Cuban French Toast I saw float by to another table. The owner (I think, I failed to ask his name?) joked with my kids several times when passing by the table, as he kept the entire dining room happy and flowing nearly entirely by himself. He was magical. You could tell his heart is 100% in it and he has a heart of gold! I don't want to bag on Kanab, but the restaurant options are super limited, and I would have totally overlooked Havana Cabana had it not been for the awesome reviews. This will be a staple visit for us every time we return to Kanab! Bonus points for the Community meal dollars near the register. Now we know the owner has a Servant's heart. Absolutely remarkable! The Cuban food was a great change from American when in Kanab. Everyone in our group opted for the recommended Cuban rice plate. The portion size was perfect for me. The chicken was cooked perfect and had good flavor. I enjoyed the beans included with the dish. Normally, the beans seem like a side thought, but these were excellent in my opinion.
