This was my second meal at Iron Horse, 3 years apart. We sat inside this time, next to the hilarious raccoon table. Duane was awesome, very attentive and made mild conversation with us. I had the salmon, daughter had the NY Strip, and hubby got the last brisket of the night. Everything was delicious and I'm very happy we came back to this restaurant. My daughter loves the outdoor installments (no spoilers - come see them yourself!), she loves taking pictures out there.

A great family-friendly stop with delicious, filling food and plenty to keep kids entertained. This restaurant is an excellent choice for families. It has a spacious outdoor play area with games, fun photo props, and an old Western wagon that kids can climb on and explore. After a long day in the car during our road trip, my kids had an amazing time playing while we waited for our meal. There is also indoor seating available. The food was delicious, and the portions were large and very filling. Meals were around $20 each , which felt like a fair value for the quality and portion size. If you're traveling with kids or looking for a family-friendly restaurant with great food and entertainment, this is definitely worth a stop.

I wanted an authentic meal while on the road and staying in Kanab. Headed over to the Iron Horse, and the staff were warm and welcoming. A family friendly restaurant with a western theme and some special guests (pictured) made the ambience lively and enjoyable. Sadly, the food fell short of what I was hoping for. I opted for the country fried steak with mash and gravy, and seasonal veg. The steak was tough, overly chewy, and inedible in places (lots of gristle), but the mash and veggies were good. In summary; great service, but the food needed to do a bit more.

Kinda slow service even at the bar...understaffed on a summer Friday? Hmm IPA tap was all foam...that's a bust! Brisket sandwich wasn't anything to write home about. Kinda bland. Cowboy beans were better. I don't think I'll be back eventho I'll be in town for a week. Clean place, not too loud, patio was 1/2 full, decided to eat at the bar

Long weekend with Travel around the state and stopped into the Iron Horse for a late lunch. Now this place is all about BBQ but could not resist an opportunity for some pastrami and the waitress liked it and since she was from back east had to give it a try. It was ok although the amount of meat was light and use to it being greasier/juicier. Back east it would have been piled high. It came with coleslaw and the other meal was fish and chips, was ok, think black bear is better. Also ordered onion rings and chicken wings to-go for a "by the fire" snack, both were good. Service was excellent and if back down this way will give the BBQ a try. This place seems like it's a big hit on weekends, indoor and outdoor seating plus bar area. Since I had a dog we could sit outside which was the key decision to eat here!

Nice restaurant setup with good service. The brisket sandwich is great but the rest was just ok. I didn't get a photo but skip the cornbread.

Cute place to eat. Large area but still may have a wait due to Waiters. They have a gift shop to browse while waiting. We ordered the chicken and ribs platter. The chicken breast was smothered, was really good but not the ribs. They covered the ribs in a rub. Really thick seasoning! We could not even hardly eat them. They were tender and meaty but hot from seasoning. And I love hot but not these. So just order chicken platter and you will be ok.

You remember those old Reese's Peanut Butter Cup commercials?…read more "Hey! You got your chocolate in my peanut butter!" "No, you got your peanut butter in my chocolate!" That's basically what happened here, except instead of chocolate and peanut butter, it was an art gallery and a gastropub. Somehow it works. The vibe here is funky in mostly the right ways. The decor has a yard sale chic aesthetic that's somehow carefully curated without looking like it tried too hard. The staff had just enough piercings and tattoos for me know they would love to talk to me about their record collections if I asked, and the whole place manages to feel both laid back and just upscale enough that you can justify ordering anything from a burger to what looked like a pretty respectable ribeye. I went with the Shroom, a portobello mushroom burger, and it was enjoyable. Tons of flavor, perfectly satisfying, and paired with one of the crispest side salads I've had in a while. Bonus points for the edamame. I will happily eat edamame in just about anything. Not with jello though. Everyone at our table enjoyed their meals, although we collectively demonstrated the adventurous spirit of a group that mostly ordered the Pub burger. So I can't claim we've fully explored the menu yet. This just gives me an excuse to come back. Service was friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The only moment that caught me a little off guard was when the owner stopped by to let us know he had baseball cards for sale in one part of the restaurant, along with an upstairs gallery featuring local artwork. I felt like he might next open his coat to show me some watches. He's just down for the hustle I guess. The art ranged from "that's pretty nice" to "someone really, really loves painting Utah's red rocks." Most of it was priced well beyond what I was looking to take home, but honestly, I have to respect that they're giving local artists a place to showcase their work. So maybe I'm just being a little grumpy. Get off my lawn. By the way I'd be happy to eat here again

In the "downtown" area across the street from the Wild Thyme Cafe. - Exterior: Nothing special. A boxy building with outside seating. - Ambiance: Country French...or as close as you can get in Utah. Actually, nice and comfortable. - Menu: Not big, but with interesting choices in each category. - Food: Excellent. We started the meal by sharing a Caprese Salad ($15). Large and tasty. My entree was one of the night's specials...Vegetable Curry ($22). Big bowl of fresh diced vegetables with a moderately spicy sauce. A fine dish. My wife chose the other special of the day...Chicken Marsala ($25) on a bed of mashed potatoes. It's one of her favorite's and she said "it was as good as any I've had". For dessert, we shared a Chocolate Mousse ($12). We could have had 3 more. For drinks, I had a Belgian Blond beer ($10) while my wife had a glass of French Chardonnay ($16). Both did the job. - Service: AMAZING describes our server, Wendy. She was the only person taking care of a roomful of customers. I counted 30 with more coming in. But Wendy helped us as if we were the only people in the restaurant. AMAZING. And one other question stumped us. How did the ONE chef handle 30+ orders and maintain a steady pace in the kitchen? Wow! - Price and Value: Not cheap, but worth it. The total before tax and tip was an even $100. - Parking: Fine, both behind and on the street. Vermillon might not be as "country French" as you'll find in France, but it was great and a lot closer to home.

A delightful encounter in Kanab, the small town along the way on our road trip to Salt Lake City. A…read morewonderful meal. Pistachio Chicken: The chicken breast was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with a thin, crispy crust that was especially impressive. The sauce blended the mild aroma of Poblano chili, the creamy richness of butter, and the unique fragrance of herbs. Most precious was the pistachio aroma, both vibrant and subtle, without overpowering or masking the other flavors, creating a delicate balance. Even the saltiness was just right, subtle and delicate. The surface was garnished with pico de gallo, fresh, sweet, tangy, and spicy, balancing the potential heaviness of the sauce. The asparaguses were also very fresh, with a natural fragrance, but perhaps a little too mild with the sauce. Kanab Cowboy Ribs: The pork ribs were slow-cooked and roasted until they were so tender that they easily fell off the bone, offering no resistance when cutting into them. The homemade barbecue sauce coated it thickly, rich and sweet, with an authentic American barbecue flavor. It might be a bit too sweet for most Chinese palates, but I thought it was quite good. The agave mustard vinaigrette seemed more decorative; I nearly couldn't really taste it. Lemon Sorbet: Homemade sorbet, offering the most soulful finish. It was breathtakingly beautiful at first glance; the simple white porcelain plate and glass were limpid and elegant, perfectly matching the sorbet's style. Unlike typical sorbets that emphasize extreme acidity, this restaurant took a different approach, with a gentle, even subtle, acidity that brings out the natural, lively fragrance of lemon, like Lolita's touch through pale silk. The texture was also delicate and smooth, without any ice crystals. Everyone was captivated; some even ordered an extra to take away. The restaurant claims that ingredients come from its organic garden. This might be a pointless gimmick, but the cooking and presentation of the dishes conveyed a consistent level of refinement and care, making it all the more valuable.

Whereas, you go up and order at the counter, and the very busy cashier, server, order taker, takes your money, and eventually will bring your food out. We lucked out and there was no one at the counter when we walked in. However, by the time we left, there was a long line waiting to order, probably about 20 minutes just to order. I only saw one cook in the back, but there may have been someone else. The food was remarkably very good. Also, this is Utah, so expect the 'third degree' and a caution to not take your beer outside should you choose to have a beer with your dinner. They ID everyone if you order a beer. You have to do your own bussing, and be prepared to sit down at a table that has not been wiped down. They need a larger staff in my view. I will probably not return as Kanab as several other options for dinning.
