Food was okay. I got ropa vieja with a side of beans, rice, and plantains. It was good enough to eat but was lacking flavor. I wish I saw some of the peppers & onions that are usually cooked in it but was just meat and sauce. The beans were absolutely flavorless which was disappointing. The fried meat pies were good. Mariquitas (homemade plantain chips) were extremely good as an appetizer, but could have used an additional lime slice and a bit of chimichurri sauce. Couple of Cuban sandwiches in our group were good, fries were lackluster. Kicker for us was the lady we think was the owner or manager (she was pulling in the staff to be on her call) sitting in the dining area talking very loud on her phone as if we all wanted to be in on her conversation. I used to frequent this cozy little cafe when I lived in Dallas, now living in the suburbs doesn't make it so easy, but decided to revisit this place once again, and it never fails to satisfy my craving for tropical Cuban cuisine. We started out with appetizers, ordering the Yucca Frita, Cuban Empanadas, and Bolitas de Bacalao. All of the sharable plates came out hot and fresh. My dining partner tried the Ropa Vieja (my all time favorite Cuban dish) and I decided to try the Arroz Con Pollo. Both were exceptional, and both tasted great! The Arroz con Pollo is enough to feed two people! We also had dessert, the bread pudding and the Chocolate Coconut cake and both were the perfect ending to a tasty meal. I was the only person waiting for some to-go food while one table was getting their food, and it took 23 minutes to make one cuban sandwich. The waiter/cashier was not very friendly either and did not apologize for the wait. I wish I could say the food made up for it, but it's not anywhere close to as good as it used to be. The fries were overcooked and tasted like they'd been sprinkled with artificial lime flavor. The sandwich was just so-so. Nothing great. I am going to preface this review by saying that I am born and raised in Miami and spent most of my life there. My ancestry has Cuban in it, I ate it all my life since my family cooks Cuban food. Sadly, I was disappointed ordering from Havana Cafe thru Uber Eats. I was tired from two flights to Dallas, I wanted some good comfort food before I turned in for the night Firstly, if someone orders food to a hotel, it would be nice if you include some utensils for them. How exactly do you expect someone in a hotel to eat their food?!?!? Thankfully I was able to find some in the hotel. I ordered the following: 1) two croquetas de jamon (ham croquettes). For those unfamiliar with what these are, they are fried meat logs which when done right are heavenly. It is one of my favorite Cuban foods to eat. 2) Masa de Cerdo (Pork) 3) Arroz con Morros (rice and black beans) 4) Cuban Bread One thing the Uber Eats menu doesnt explain, the food comes with black beans and rice... so I got them in two different ways (arroz con moro). Wish it was clear, I would have saved money. Now for the most part the food was disappointing. Both versions of the rice and black beans were bland. The croquettas, were some of the worst I have ever had. They were inedible and gross. It was like they were old/stale. The pork was delicious, flavorful and perfectly seasoned. The cuban bread was good. Still the positives of the meal were outweighed by the bad. Wish It was not the case, as I said I really wanted to have some great Cuban food. Has an authentic south Florida Miami Cuban cafe vibe. Open and bright space. Pastel accent walls showcase eclectic Cuban artwork and photography--like a gallery space for local artists essentially. Full bar with a seasonal mojito menu. Mojitos are handmade at the bar with lots of mint and sugar cane, and they're really good! Stellar classic 80's music playing in the background, though there is also a small stage for live music performances. There were actually quite a few native Cubanos eating here while I was visiting, so that's definitely a good sign. Server was super nice and quick. Cuban sandwich and maduros were excellent. I was excited to find a good Cuban restaurant in town, and I saw this place had really good reviews. Well I am not pleased. Arroz con pollo is a pretty safe dish, so I started with that. The rice is soggy and watery, like literally so much liquid at the bottom of the container. I have never seen it prepared this way. The chicken was bland. Just didn't like it at all. Couldn't eat it. The plantains were good but after sitting in that sauce, I just couldn't finish those either. Not to mention, the woman behind the counter was not friendly at all. I will not be back. read more

Found this little cafe heaven on our way home after dinner. We were looking for coffee and dessert. I will say that I ordered the cafe con leche and it was a bit too sweet for me but I generally drink my coffee without sugar. So it was probably just right for those of you that drink coffee with sugar. My hubby ordered the cortadito and that drink was absolutely delicious! It has sugar but is meant to be stronger so in my opinion it cut out the sweetness. We also ordered the flan and bread pudin dessert. Incredible. This Cuban Restaurant is so authentic and delicious - I am already looking forward to the next time I can come back. I have been craving a Coco Mojito ever since my husband and I got married in Puerto Rico, and this took me right back to the Caribbean. The colorful decor instantly put me in a good mood. There is an assortment of seating arrangements from couches to tabletops and got to sit wherever we wanted. The ceviche was absolutely delicious. There are plenty of overcharged ceviches out there in Dallas, but Cafe Havana does it right for an amazing price. Plus you get crunchy salted banana chips, which I'd choose over fries any day. It's really hard to find good Puerto Rican food in the DFW so Cuban is the closest thing to it I can find to it. MUST VISIT ALERT! Want to visit a place of great fun, SUPER food and wonderful people? My date had her trip to Cuba cancelled due to Washington and Havana politics stuff. I thought, if you can't go there, then let's go here! Chalk up another good idea to Ray! First, this place is EASY to see from the road! Lots of parking in front and even more in back! It is quaint but on a Saturday evening, it was a happening place with a live band in the adjoining Mojito Bar! From watching the other customers, you can see they are regulars and are treated as family (the kind of family you LIKE coming over)! My first time looking over a Cuban Restaurant Menu. I really hope I didn't insult anyone with my mispronunciations. I have enough trouble with English! All looked delicious! My spying on what the others were eating was useless as it looked great but I was clueless as to what it was! Our drinks were before us (me with an iced tea). Our server helped us through the menu and order was placed. As I savored the most delicious iced tea in years, if not forever, our croquetas (home made croquettes) appetizer was before us! Yelpers, this was beyond delightfully delicious! (Sorry, no pictures as hard to photograph as I enjoyed the croquetas.) So you know how it is polite to leave the last bite for your date? Not so much with these great tasting morsels. It was a scene from an old Errol Flynn Pirate movie sword fight except with forks! No crumbs were left behind! (Note: We should have gone with the Tour of Cuba appetizer that was carted out to a nearby table. WOW did it look great!) Our order arrived and the plating, color, aroma, temperature and taste almost was a tear shedding experience as it was so lovely! My date had the Arroz con Camarones and I had the Bistec Salteado. Mine came with arroz and frijoles negros plus fried plantains. The thinly sliced hearty portion of beef steak had heavenly flavors. My belly was quite happy! For dessert we had slices of rum cake and chocolate-coconut cake. Oh my! Perfect levels of moist and sweet with both. What a disappointment. I drove up to the restaurant and could see that there were only two people eating. I placed my order and the estimated time was ridiculous. I waited and waited for a notification that my order was ready. I took over 30 minutes to get my sandwich. I walked in and it had just been sitting on the table, for who knows how long. I had to ask for a bag and the waitress offered no napkins or plasticware. The sandwich came with fries and there was no ketchup. Regarding the food, the sandwich was average and the fries were so salty they were inedible. I will never bother with this restaurant again. read more

I think it's the music, the artwork, the natural lighting, the authentic service, and the expansive menu. This establishment is bright, spacious, neat, and clean! You have to try the platters; that way you get to experience all of the "fan faves" like plantains (sweet & delicious), cheese empanadas (crispy and gooey), the tamales (pieces of meat all throughout), and the stuffed potatoes! Don't leave without trying the classic Cuban sandwiches! I ordered the "Havana" version which comes with salami. Yummy! The bar is an amazing place to venture into. I was strung out on the Mojitos!
