We came in before others and they served the others first. Parking was difficult to find and the restaurant was small. The waitstaff seemed under staffed. I was disappointed since I was looking for a great Colombian restaurant. The food was in smaller portions than I expected. The ajiaco wasn't bad, expect for the rice that was undercooked. Can't get enough of this place. It's 1 of 3 Colombian spots in DFW, as far as I know. I've tried all three; all are great, but this location and Arlington Sabor have consistency with their flavor. You're probably going to experience a wait; consider utilizing their BOYB option which nobody seems to know about. I recommend vodka with their passion fruit drink. Bees knees! Take your person on a date here. It'll impress and give you a chance to talk. Trust me. Came here on a Sunday with a party of five. We ordered a ton of food, and every single item was seasoned, hot, fresh, and delicious. We had picada, empanadas de carne, sopa de ajiaco, carne guisada, platano relleno, side orders of papas criollas and yuca frita, buñuelos, pan de bonos, and both deserts --the pastel de maracuya and the milhojas. My wife and daughter are Colombian, born and raised, so they have high standards for their Colombian food. Some takeaways: - The empanadas are exactly like the ones we like in Colombia, and very similar to the ones my mother-in-law makes - The pan de bonos are the best we've ever had. We ordered 4 more to go for our ride home. - Everything fried was fried perfectly (which is a skill, and most places fall short). The fried sides of papas criollas and yuca were particularly good. We had a lot of yuca and papas criollas, because they were in the picada and the carne guisada. - The carne guisada was excellent. The guiso was highly seasoned and the combo of beef, guiso, onions in the guiso, yuca, and papas made for a great bite. The little side salad of dressed cabbage was not an afterthought, and was great. The plantains were not an afterthought and were great. - The aji was excellent. Refreshing and cut through the fat of the fried foods and the richness of the guisada. - The picada was excellent (though pricey at $30 for one person, and $45 for two people). The beef and chicken, which are usually boring, were both freshly grilled and highly seasoned. The chorizo was a standout. The chicharron was exactly how we like it: fried to crunchy! Soft chicharron in a picada is a sign of a bad picada. The yuca frita and papas criollas were so good that we ordered both as sides. Yes, I dipped them in ketchup and mayo, a sort of separated salsa rosada (gasp!). No regrets. - The sopa de ajiaco was freshly made, and that hurt it a little, because the starches hadn't been bathing for long and so hadn't gotten a chance to release their thickening goodness, so the broth was clear. However, it was seasoned and delicious. And a steal at $13 for a huge bowl with rice and avocado. - The maracuya dessert was incredible. Mousse de maracuya over a layer of cake, and topped with maracuya glaze. - My daughter said the milhojas was the best she's ever had. I thought it was delicious, but missed the crunch. Service was fully Colombian restaurant in Colombia experience. Super nice. Not always attentive in the American way, so get over that and you'll be fine. But super friendly. Wow! I was super excited to know that there was a Colombian restaurant in Dallas. We love Colombian food and many times, had to go far away from Dallas home just to taste this amazing culture. The food was great. I could remember my mom's fried plantains taste. The beans are well cooked and flavored. The salad had the perfect season, not too much. Chicharrón was great too. My husband got the day special Sancocho de Gallina which was better than mine. The service was good and friendly. Everything tastes very fresh, but at the same time lacking. Nothing in my bandeja paisa had enough salt. So bland. The pork belly was nearly impossible to cut and chew. The empanadas have an interesting texture, but you can taste the vegetable oil, and the filling is mostly potato and not meat. read more

Stopped in for a quick bite & am very glad I did. While I have experienced Latin American cuisine, to the tune of empanadas & plantains, Columbian food was not on my radar. This was a clean & bright little spot, in a strip mall on East Grand, right off I-30. The owner, Fernando, took exceptional time to explain the menu choices to me. I took his accurate recommendations & had an excellent meal. Very fresh ingredients, full of flavor & served with a cilantro & chipotle salsa. Fernando made salsa rojo for me, when I asked if there was any other salsa available. I can tell when someone has heart & soul invested in their cooking. Or should I say I can taste when they do. While the neighborhood might be a little sketchy late night (where isn't?) it's in a hi visibility area that I wasn't worried. I was visiting Dallas with my Colombian mother and son. We were craving Colombian food and found this on our search. It was amazing! The food was all homemade, fresh, and simple. Most Colombian places use a lot of sazon that isn't natural - here you can tell they made everything from scratch. Definitely recommend to visit and have some traditional Colombian food. The juices were great too! We had mora, maracuyada, and Lulo. Food we had bandeja paisa. We originally wanted soup but they were just making a fresh batch and we didn't have much time to wait for it. It's tough to find a Colombian restaurant, especially one that has great food. I found this place on yelp and had to go immediately. I placed an order Togo. I wasn't in the mood for a big meal so I ordered snacky things, the arepa de choclo, empeñada, and the owners suggestion- pastel de yuca. The empeñadas here are truly fantastic but what really blew my mind was the pastel de yuca, it's pure heaven!! (Shout out to the owner for giving me an extra one, so nice!) And the sauce that came with is drool worthy. The only con was the arepa de choclo, it wasn't sweet and was almost a bit sour tasting and fell apart (not pictured because I had to throw it out) I'm guessing it was a bad batch? But I'll try it again next time I go. Oh yeah I also got a blackberry juice which tasted just like it does in Colombia. Another plus is that they have colombiana soda, which I love mixed with a light beer so I I got one Togo (don't knock it till you try it). All in all this place is amazing! We were really excitedto have Colombian food so we ordered an arepa, chorizo, pandebono, a chicken empanada, and a beef empanada to share for lunch. The chorizo and chicken empanada were our faves. Only three stars because the menu wasn't posted on their website so we ordered to-go at the restaurant because we aren't comfortable dining in right now. But it took forever (45 minutes I think). We were there so long it felt like it negated us trying to be safe by getting take-out. A group of four women that came in after us for dine-in received their food before us. And our order was missing another arepa we ordered. As we were paying the man could tell we were annoyed and tried to make it better by assuring it wouldn't happen next time. He also told us he didn't realize the menu wasn't on the website but it's on their Facebook page. Hopefully, they get it on their website soon (and online ordering would be nice too). But our advice would be to definitely try the place out because the food is good. But look up what you want on Facebook and then order it to-go so you don't have to wait so long. I lived in Bogotá for three months, and the empanadas here, at Sabor Latino, are better than any I had an Colombia. The bandeja paisa is similarly amazing; the steak is so well seasoned, the beans are delicious, the little salad is refreshing alongside all the meat (steak, sausage, chicharrón)--and the plantains are perfectly candied. You can tell the owner takes pride in his restaurant and taking care of his customers , an area that I feel a lot of Latin restaurants fall short in. Pastel de yucca was very good as well as are their empanadas . Best Aji salsa of any Colombian restaurant in DFW, hands down.
