The small #2 (beef) is the perfect amount of food for 1 person. You can go low carb on any meal and skip the rice and Mac salad and get a nice medley of mixed grilled veggies. Don't let the outside of the business scare you.. it's in an old Burger King that shut down years ago.. so yes it's dated, but still feels authentic with some good Hawaiian music playing. read more

Don't expect your customers to know your store policies! Very disappointed coming away today, was not able to go through drive-through because it was closed. Placed a to-go order for Kahlua pig as always and they didn't put ANY sauce on or in it! Or fork or napkins! I have come here often and always gone through the drive-through. I call the store asking what's up, why did I get plain everything with NO SAUCE AT ALL? She tells me that they only provide that to drive-through customers. WTF? That makes no sense at all and frankly is just crappy customer service. I won't be coming here any more because of this policy that customers AREN'T INFORMED OF when they get their meal...it's just plain STUPID. And I'm hungry because dry rice and dry pork SUCK. You should provide the same condiments for both drive-through and take-out orders and not expect random customers to know things only your employees know. My first experience (drive thru) here was amazing, food was so delicious! My second (drive thru), not impressed... Let me first start with I am from Hawaii and I love me some Hawaiian plate lunches especially being so far from home. My first order was the combo (medium size) Kalua and Huli chicken w/ rice and mac. Amazing! Soo delicious! The rice was perfectly cooked (I have a 'thing' with imperfect rice), meats were hella tasty and fresh, and Mac salad was the BEST I've ever tasted (even from Hawaii!), and portions were spot on. I was sooo stoked to find this place which isn't far from my work. Unfortunately, my second experience wasn't the same :( ... I ordered the same, Kalua+Chx. I was disappointed with the Kalua, it had no flavor and was unsalted, sooo bummed. The chicken was warm, not hot. And the rice was super mushy (they added too much water when cooking) and I could not eat it... Even with this bad experience I would def try Hawaiian Time again. Ok, so the wife and I where so hungry we needed to find something quick. I remembered that there was a Hawaiian place not to far from us. We arrive to Hawaiian time. And let me tell you I came in with low expectations but then once I got my food I felt the cold hands of depression hug me like a family member he hasn't seen in years. I got the mix plate, kaluha pork and some in their words "spicy" chicken. I open the box and that's when I knew my day was going to be terrible. They stuffed the box with mac salad and rice like they where giving out prizes on the price is right but the portion of the meat was so small it was comical. I first tried the chicken....... HOW DO YOU TAKE THE FLAVOR OUT OF CHICKEN?!! It taste like the smell of a freshly opened bag of meow mix with honey. Now I'm a little upset from this but I go on and try the kalua pork..... I should of just jumped in the recycling bin outside and ate some wet news paper and that would have had more flavor. My family and I ate at Hawaiian Time for the first time last week and though the food isn't authentic Hawaiian food, I really liked their teriyaki beef. The mac salad did have a bit too much black pepper in it to be authentic mac salad but I actually welcomed the change as I like black pepper! The rice is rice... don't know what people are expecting from it. Put some shoyu or teriyaki on it and call it good! The staff was awesome, very friendly. The food was disappointing. I came here because it was recommended to me but once I got there the service was pretty bad and I thought the food would be better than it was. I got the chicken but it was really chewy and dry. The rice was the only good part of my lunch but use rather just make rice at home than pay for it. I would recommend 808 grinds much better service and food, if you go to Hawaiian time for location 808 grinds is about 5 mins from there. My review is biased - I had never had "Hawaiian" cuisine before eating here. This was my first Kahlua pork and huli huli chicken experience. I have to say either I get lucky and come here on their good days or I'm just a total sucker for this stuff. I get cravings for it, and I've had a few other places in town too. I don't know exactly why but I think this stuff is just way more satisfying than it should be. After all its just pork and chicken, with teriyaki sauce... but every time I have gone the meat has been moist, succulent, tender, flavorful. The mac salad is creamy, peppery, and great with more teriyaki sauce. The rice has always been hot, and fresh. I really can't complain about anything. They even have a drive through, which I have used with great success as well as eating in. They will even sell you a whole bottle of sauce, and the lady working there was nice enough to double wrap it in plastic bags. I drive across town to get Hawaiian Time, I highly recommend you give them a shot too. read more

This was my first time and I well go back again. I like the fact that the lunch plate comes in three sizes. I got the small plate and it was plenty of food. Chicken wasn't overly sauced. We are visiting from the Seattle area so my son took us here for dinner. Now, 3 days later, I still can't get it off my mind. I'm glad I did not read the reviews till now, because we all LOVED it! (8 of us) We went to Maui on our honeymoon and have never found Kahlua pork like there until Hawaii Time! And I am not a macaroni person but I loved the Mac salad! I will never give them another dime!! I went in for lunch yesterday and ordered my food with NO rice and NO mac salad as I am on Keto and can not have the carbs. I asked for Broccoli in replacement of both of those items and was told "No problem" when I got back to work I was not able to eat my lunch because there was rice and pasta salad instead of the broccoli. I went back in today, and ordered my food again asking for ONLY Broccoli and chicken, and was told again " No problem". I told "Olivia" that my order had been messed up the day before and how I was not able to eat the lunch i had paid for. He did not offer me any kind of apology and so when i got to the window I asked for the manager because I was a bit surprised not even an apology was offered. The manager told me they do not offer just broccoli and only offer a mixed veggie. I told him that Olivia told me they did offer just the broccoli and added it to my order. The manager then went and looked at my order and proceeded to tell me that my order had mixed veggies and NOT Broccoli. Clearly no one that works there knows their menu and have not the first clue in providing GOOD customer service! I left without my meal because I refused to give them another dime of my hard earned money for food I DID NOT ASK FOR! Had there just been a simple " I'm sorry" this all could have ended differently, but they clearly do not care about their customer's and only about the money. read more

My husband & I have been driving by for weeks & finally decided to stop by & try the newest Hawaiian restaurant in town. The girl at the counter was nice & said she was from Maui (like me) we did take out of kalua pork and chicken. It wasn't until we got home & I started scooping out my kalua pork that I noticed that they had packed down a giant scoop of rice and then put the entree on top of that, along with another giant scoop of rice and the macaroni salad. It looked like alot of food but the entree was barely an inch deep with at least an inch of rice under it. My husbands was the same way. I felt really ripped off, like they thought they could fool us since we were doing take-out. My pork was dry & didn't have enough salt. The mac salad was the only good thing. We will never eat there again just because they acted nice to us and then were dishonest about what they actually gave us. You can't stay in business treating people like that. My first impression when walking in at the beginning of the lunch time was "wow, not many people are here." As I approached the counter, there was no hello from the staff when me and my dad walked in. It was not welcoming at all. We have been back multiple times for the food not the atmosphere, not their service. Don't expect quality service expect good food. Some of the highlights for food are there tender Kalua Pork and their Mauna Loa Chicken which both pair well with their fantastic mac salad. The mac salad is delicious to the max, you will be amazed. There rice is pretty dull, if they had an option of yakisoba or fried rice that would help. A suggestion would be having authentic Hawaiian shaved ice, that always attracts kids. Now to the atmosphere, the only 2 problems are sticky tables that the staff don't care to clean and there puke colored walls which kind of make me sick. we go here all the time and the service is always very prompt and friendly and the drive through is super convenient. once we had fatty chicken, bad cut of meat maybe, but otherwise the mac salad is fantastic (we always get an extra bucket to take home, it's great cold and stores well in the fridge) and their teryaki-sauce is great. headed there for lunch right now. the rice is always perfect, and based on the reviews I'm going to have to try the huli huli chicken! read more
