Great food, portions and service! Wish we lived closer so we could oils have this be our go to regular spot!

We tried the B combo dinner for three, and it was more than enough food for three people. The sesame beef was solid, the pork fried rice was good, and the barbecue pork, which was made on site, was excellent and easily the standout. Service was very friendly and welcoming, which always counts for a lot. The only downside was the bathroom condition. The men's urinal was covered with a plastic bag, and with the light switch located outside the bathroom, I was fumbling around in the dark, which wasn't great. Solid American Chinese. I got the combo with general tso, fried shrimp and shrimp egg roll. It's not common you get a shrimp egg roll in a combo. I'm always wary of egg rolls. Usually they are stuffed with nasty cabbage. This had cabbage which wasn't too offensive but just had two small pieces of shrimp. I like a more uniform filling. Room to improve here. The fried rice did no harm. Decent enough. The fried shrimp was a little overcooked but appreciated the shrimp to batter ratio. The general tso was very good. It had a really unique batter. It almost reminded me of a meat jun batter. Kind of light and eggy. I'd take all of my tso like this. The seasoning while weak in the sauce did not offend. Sometimes it's too acidic or metallic but this was just mid. I'd come back if I was ever in town again. read more

Christmas Day lunch. Great service! Great food! Got there at 11:30 fairly quiet. We took the option of $18.50 a person, which included everything you see in the picture. The food was cooked perfectly! My one complaint could have been the spicy beef was not very spicy. Hot and sour soup was way above average. 1hour drive for a great lunch, totally worth it! The food compared to other places we have been to taste so much better. Had to take my toddler to the restroom and they looked cleaned at least the woman's did. Everything was going good until the waitress brought the check and boxes before I was even done eating. She apologized I said it was fine. My husband annoyed handed the card to pay while I was still finishing my plate. We never put tip on the receipt we always leave cash. I didn't take out cash yet as I was just finishing my plate. She comes for the receipt and says "oh no tip I guess you didn't like my service uh" laughs awkwardly and walks away. After that her demeanor changed and she was rude afterwards. Like seriously we are still sitting. I am still eating because I had to take my toddler to the restroom. We hate comments like this it just ruins a meal for you! This review is tough, because I often have a 4 star experience here, then on some occasions it's just not consistent. This was one of those inconsistent times. I ordered to go, and the service was fabulous, and the wait time was exactly what they told me 15 minutes. Sadly this time the food wasn't to their normal standard. Pork Egg Foo Young was slightly burned, which had a negative impact on the flavor. Generally speaking the flavor was still good, but normally it's amazing. The crispy Noodle Chicken Chow Mein was really bland as it was missing salt. Sweet and sour shrimp was exactly as expected. This lesser experience will not stop us from going back here (unless future experience prove this as their new norm). I'm gonna assume it was just a bad day this time around. read more

I want to update my review. Since my last one we have learned something. We go when Lee is working. She is over the top excellent at service and so sweet. We love their food but the other server is just plain rude. It affects our experience so we found out Lee's schedule and go when she is there. As for the food. We love to get the lunch special. My husband always gets the Kung pao trio and loves it. I've tried the cashew chicken, sesame beef, general tso chicken, Kung pao shrimp, Mongolian beef, subgum chow mein and the twice cooked pork. All were excellent. What I do not care for is their sweet and sour sauce. It's not sweet enough for me. More like the Chinese ketchup. One of the menu items that intrigued me is on the soup section call Beef Mushroom Noodle with gravy. I finally decided to try it and omg! It was fantastic! Fresh crisp vegetables. Tender yummy beef. Perfectly cooked noodles and a rich broth. And it was huge! Enough for 3 meals for me. It has baby corn in it but I can't eat corn so I took it out before I tried it and then took this picture. read more

If your expecting friendly service this is "fast and furious" but not especially friendly, literally no words other then taking our order and the bare minimum interaction; lots of eye rolling if you ask for something. Typical Chinese, nothing special or unique. Tasty enough. Make sure if you order fried shrimp that you check for the poop vein, mine had not been removed and don't know if this is the type of shrimp they use which is not what you want to eat or just my luck? A noisy little place with no music, but lots of chatter, the air is on in the middle of a cold rainy day so had to wear a coat through the meal, but typical Chinese restaurant decor. read more

One combo, one entrée, one appetizer. Worst wonton ever: A typical fried wonton order is wonton with a meat and maybe seasoning and other things, fried. Their version of fried wonton...literally an EMPTY WONTON, FRIED. The most egregious bait and switch overcharge I've ever been a sucker for from a restaurant. The sweet and sour chicken, in places that do entrees, is usually battered fried chicken, sauce, onions, bell peppers, and pineapple. In buffets, where you self-assemble, is usually some fresh fried battered chicken, and a vat of sweet and sour sauce you can self-apply. My order had no veggies, and the chicken was dry and not fresh. The rice of both steamed and fried were OK, as was the BBQ pork. The other sides were meh. The fortune cookies were well aged. Since the person doing the floor work and answering phones could not stay for more than a few seconds to take part in any conversations, I suspect any improvements are not forthcoming. read more

I specifically asked for extra spicy and yeah, I know my level of spicy is way beyond most people's since I like habanero and ghost peppers, but this was no spicier than sweet and sour. New Lantern is one if the very best restaurants I've ever visited. It is clean and fresh, with a lovely ambience. The waitstaff are happy, exquisitely courteous, and exceedingly efficient. And the food. Oh, my, that food. It is delivered so quickly after ordering, hot and fresh to the table. The flavors are beautifully nuanced, the meats are tender, the noodles and rices are perfectly prepared, and the vegetables and even the mushrooms are fresh! So everyone, make the short jaunt to Estacada and enjoy some of the best Chinese food you will ever have. I even took a few dishes home for my children who devoured it and look forward to more. We are still here eating! So much food. Quiet and very clean. Mid afternoon lunch so it's not too busy. Inside dining currently. Server is amazing! Attentive to every table. I wanted to love this place (because I really want there to be at least one GOOD restaurant in Estacada, but alas, it probably won't be New Panda. PROs: my pork chow mein was piping hot and my guess is freshly prepared. Fried shrimp were large, and while not freshly fried, they didn't seem like they'd been sitting around either. Portions are large. The staff is all very accommodating, when you can catch them. CONs: Came in the week they opened, and despite the place not being full, the full staff were all running around inefficiently (one busser walked back and forth from a single table three times carrying one place setting at a time and then had to go back for a towel to wipe it down?!) and after a long wait with no acknowledgement and hearing the folks trying to cash out complain about how long they'd been there, we left. Came back a week later hoping they'd figured some stuff out. While we were seated quickly I watched as each table (and then our own) had plates brought out one at a time with long waits between. This is fine if a restaurant serves family style, but this one doesn't. My boyfriend got his food and it was nearly ten minutes later when I got mine--he was 2/3rds finished! Luckily I'd ordered a second appetizer and it came while we were waiting for my food--but if he'd waited for mine to arrive to start eating? It would have been cold. They really need to figure this out. The place wasn't close to full (a Monday night). Also, Kung Pao (labeled spicy) was not at all spicy, and no hot sauce on tables, fried rice was pretty dry, egg rolls were very, very greasy (though the fried shrimp weren't as bad). This is typical Americanized Chinese food, not too different than Sandy's Double Dragon, though with prices several bucks higher. If neither the staff nor the food is going to be distinguishable in quality, then the prices are a bit high for what you get. read more

Our first visit will definitely be a great moment in time for our quest for good food in Estacada. We found it here. Thanks New Panda! American Chinese food. Large portions of fresh veggies and meats. Good sauces, try the Egg Food Young for sure. We had that and: Kung Pao Shrimp, Beef With Sno Peas, then Almond Chicken Sub Gum Chow Mein. The standards that are very respectable. Like other reviews, food needs more spice. I say, carry a small Rooster Sauce when you visit, we didn't ask for some so unknown if available. Maybe a good addition to the on table sauces? Go, you will be delighted. PS About MSG. Read on Google Reviews saying, uh oh, this restaurant uses MSG!! If it's used here, whatever.
