Very nice resort, unfortunately the weather did not cooperate. The service was very good, the facilities were very nice and the location in the middle keys was ideal for our stay. Be prepared for a large tack on of a resort fee if you stay here. The food is good, but expensive. There is also a $200/day preapproval for incurred resort expenses. What you don't use is credited back at check out. I attempted to use the Dive shop and was disappointed with the service. It's a resort Dive shop and if you are experienced you may do better to look elsewhere. The staff didn't seem interested or motivated to talk to me about scheduling a trip. read more

Always love coming here while in the keys. The pool is amazing with a great place to spend time. The lagoons access with the beach is amazing when the sun is shining. The beach side service is great and the food is delicious. Just pretty pricey. read more

Hawks Cay Resort - View from our table to the outdoor pool. The amazing view very much puts you in the islands. - Resorts Near Me - Duck Key, Florida

Here's the deal. My wife and I booked a vacation here based on the fishing show "saltwater experience." Well, let me tell you, bring loads of cash! I refuse to hate on the cleanliness of the accommodations, because they are super clean. However, if you're an avid saltwater fisherman looking to enjoy some people of your caliber, this is not your place. My tip to the folks at Hawks Cay and the cast of saltwater experience is to be very "real" about who they cater to. Lastly, provide a spot (Pier or something like it) for paying customers to cast a line when the weather is too crappy for the guides to get out. read more

Stayed a few days here during what I would call the off peak season (mid September after school is back in session). My family and I were lucky enough to stay in one of the Sunset villas, which has a full kitchen, laundry and one and a half bathrooms.. very convenient when you have 4 adults. The villas were a small walk away from the main lobby where most of the amenities are, but we were fine with that as it allowed us to get some sort of exercise in (there is a tram, we just opted to walk). Views are stunning and the staff were all very accommodating. The weekend brought a large crowd, but even then we didn't struggle to find beach chairs or reservations at the dolphin training experience. The week was quiet... which made the experience even more wonderful. My only issue was the dining - breakfast is served at Oceans, and that's it. There are 2 restaurants on the resort - Alma (pricey) and the newly opened Angler's Ale (limited menu). The stores closed early to me (being a spoiled NYer, Dockside closed at 8 and Island time at 7pm). My family didn't rent a car, so we were limited to what was on the resort. If we were to come back, I think a car would be necessary. One other thing to note - it is a nice distance between Key West and Miami. Just be prepared for about an hour and a half drive! Thanks for a true island experience Hawks Cay! read more

Hawks Cay was very clean and modern, can't complain about that! We had a nice room that led to the adult only pool. There are a few areas that really need attention!! The staff is not very informed and seemed, for the most part, more annoyed that helpful. The food is very expensive ( be prepared). They do not open the adult pool bar unless they have at least 1000 people staying ( staffs words.. not mine) and unfortunately there were only about 300 when we stayed My husband asked if he could drop a line in the water hoping to get a bite 1st staff mbr said fish anywhere in the resort. 2nd staff mbr told my husband no fishing on resort. Again ... I believe it would help if you had clear rules upon arrival to your resort. For the $. Not worth the aggravation. We will not return. read more

RACHEL RACHEL RACHEL!! One of the bartenders from the tiki bars by the resort pool gave us the best experience. She told us about some local spots, made some really good drinks, 10/10 would come back just to see her. From Tyler, Damian, and Gillian. See you soon! read more

HONESTY IS NOT A HAWKS CAY POLICY Following is a summary of our stay at Hawks Cay The day we arrived at Hawks Cay I noticed large yellow stains on the ceiling of one of the two villas we rented. The second day there was significant water on the floor and water flowing from the ceiling. The maintenance man who came to the villa told us the resort was aware of the problem at the villa and that it should not have been rented. I met at the villa with hotel manager and a man who I assume was her boss. They agreed to the following: 1. We would be relocated to another villa. We repacked and moved and the second villa was very warm. The inside temperature was 80 degrees since the AC did not work. We had to repack again and move to a third villa for our 4 day stay. Note that the second villa had a board with exposed nails on a closet floor. 2. I requested a mold report for the first villa out of concern that the young children who stayed there may have been harmed. I was promised a report by the next day. This never happened. 3. The manager and the man who accompanied her promised I would be immediately comped for one of our villas. This was  witnessed by my family. The amount is about $3,600. I never received a master charge credit.  My travel agent's company then contacted the resort and was told a credit would be processed to my account in a few days. This also did not happen. Do you sense a credibility issue at this resort? Because none of the aforementioned promises were kept, I called the hotel manager on 3 occasions while at the resort. She did not answer the phone and I left voice mail messages for her to call me. There were no return calls. I know the manager was there because there were 2 overcharges on our bill when we checked out (not a surprise based on our experience at Hawks Cay) and the desk clerk called her for approval to correct the bill. The manager answered that call immediately. Basically, I feel resort management made empty promises and hoped we would just go away without receiving the promised credit. After we left the resort I again called the hotel manager to discuss the issue of our not getting the credit. As would be expected, she did not return the call. I noticed how the General Manager apologizes in response to the negative comments on Trip Advisor and promises to improve. Based on our experience, these replies are pure dribble without substance. If the General Manager really cared, our calls would have been returned. Bottom line, truth, keeping ones word, and being honest with customers are not part of the resort management policy at Hawks Cay. For shame!!!!!!! read more

I've stayed at hawks cay a few times but this last trip was perfect! Would like to give a big thank you to Andres and amazing customer service and taking care of us making this trip one of the most relaxing and memorable ones at Hawks cay! We had the perfect villa on the corner which had an extended porch over looking the adult pool and ocean which was great because we could see the Labor Day firework show from our porch. We got to meet the guys setting up the show in the marina, they added one heart firework for us The show was fantastic! Thanks again for a great weekend! Will be back soon! read more

We were fortunate in that our 2 bedroom sunset villa was well maintained and very clean. However, it was not representative of the $1,300 a night price point. It was very cramped: the second bedroom was so small the twin bed extends halfway into the entrance to the room and the 1 bathroom for 5 guest was so small we had to close the door to use the sink. There is a total lack of privacy between the villas. There were direct sight lines into our master bedroom from the adjacent villa. We were told by other guest the 3 bedroom units in Harbor Village are more spacious. The staff was awesome, especially Odalys, Radar and Jason. Odalys was fantastic and because of her ability to schedule all of our activities and dinner reservations we had a great time. Jason and Radar took great care of us at the adult pool areas. If you get an updated room the resort is fine; however at their price point they need to upgrade some of the facilities and add dining options. read more

Although the food was decent, the hotel is quite outdated. We stayed at one of the houses and it had cockroaches. The tub was dirty and there was no hand soap. We've alerted the front desk and no one has called us back. Very disappointing. Strongly discourage families from coming here. read more

The resort is amazing but the housekeeping at the hotel is very poor! We paid over $500 a night and had to ask daily for the room to be cleaned (which didn't happen!!!) and when we complained, a rude manager named Andres was dismissive and said that he is sorry but the hotel is full capacity. He was rude and dismissive... After 3 days the room was cleaned for the first time and we had to call twice that day to make that happen. Unbelievable!!!! We are not coming back... read more

The location is breathtaking. I booked our stay here in November for my fiance's 40th birthday. I only have a few complaints---but first the good. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a smile and an opened door from Demetrius; he was amazing our entire stay. We got a personal greeting every time we encountered him. The check-in process was seamless, we even got there a tad bit early and our room was nice and clean. The evening of our check-in, we wanted to go for a stroll and we ran into Tristan (our FAV!) as we were walking to the bar and he pointed us in the right direction. OH BOY am I glad he did. That night my boyfriend became my FIANCE!! I was proposed to by the Dolphins, under the stream of lights while a live band played good music and the fire pit was lit. It was PERFECT! The ladies at the front desk could here my excitement and immediately congratulated us upon re-entry into hotel. The very next morning we went down for breakfast and guess who our server was...Tristan! I was so excited to tell him the wonderful news and to show off my beautiful new ring. Tristan was an angel to us our entire stay. His customer service and friendly manner was nothing short of top notch. There was a woman working at the bar (I am drawing a blank on her name but I remember her say she was from Maryland) who was very sweet to us and makes great drinks! We met some pretty cool guests, others who had just gotten there for their honey moon. NOW... The spa and a few other things we closed, which I was pretty disappointed about BUT we are in the middle of a pandemic, right? I got over that pretty quickly. The food options are very minimal and we had to Uber to different food spots off the Island BUT we're glad we did because the scenery was outstanding. On Sunday evening, my fiance and I decided to take a swim in the adult only serenity pool but when we went down the towel personnel were gone. My fiance looked around to see if any were left out for late swimmers like us. Once we realized the pools were actually closed we just went to sit at the bar to enjoy a few drinks. Well...one of the nasty guests decided to complain to a staff member (WHO IS BLACK) that "the black guy over at the bar was rummaging through their things." How DESPICABLE! How terrible of a person do you have to be, to accuse and describe someone like that! We are people and we paid the same currency to stay at the same resort as you! My fiance was livid and embarrassed. A staff member came to the bar and told my fiance he needed to speak with him and told him but after explaining what we were doing and the miscommunication regarding the pool times (one staff member said sundown, another said 11pm), the staff member apologized. It took a lot for me to encourage my fiance not to confront the guy. We were both ready to go after that. We spoke to Kim at the front desk and she gave us an apology as well. As much as we would like to stay again (because we really did enjoy ourselves) it's a terrible feeling to know that the guests there are so comfortable saying things like that in the open or even at all. read more

Always a great time! We love coming here for the family experience. This is trip number 4. The view is amazing! You can almost see dolphin. The new sportsbar they have is delicious! There prime rib is to die for. I was sad to see they didn't have the mind reader this year. I purposely brought my son here to see him. Touches like that, seriously make the difference at Hawks cay. We stayed in the Marina Villa (8402). Had a great view of the marina (only two rooms on a floor). Rooms were very clean and comfortable. Two bedrooms each had a bath and king size beds. One bath was a oval tub and other a large walk in shower (had a washer/dryer also). It had a full kitchen with everything; dishwasher, toaster, microwave, oven, stove, etc. Furniture was all heavy duty and sophisticated. Dining room could seat 6. Both bedrooms opened to the screened in balcony, which had a dining table and lounge chairs. Everything seemed top shelf. Parking was nice under the building so car stayed cool. Sunset cruise was nice and we enjoyed snorkeling. At night, we sat in large cushioned chairs with cushioned foot rests, and enjoyed the water fountain with the fire while listening to live entertainment (acoustic guitar) and drinking cocktails. It doesn't get any better. We arrived late at night. We opened the door and saw the lights were on and fans running. It was a fantastic sight. We used the main pool, the adult pool and one of the spas. The water was clean and inviting. We watched the activity in the dolphin area, and it looked like fun. Overall, we had an excellent stay (four full days). Next time, we'll take the kids. read more

I am giving this a 5-star for one reason - they go above and beyond. Minutes after checking in, our 10-year-old daughter fainted and hit her head on a rock as she fell along sidewalk. The travel day was long and hard for her. After an ambulance ride, a CAT scan and an IV (she was dehydrated), she was ok to enjoy rest of her vacation. Hawks Cay sent us dinner at the hospital (on them) with plenty of snacks and water for our daughter the rest of the stay. They truly turned a horrible situation into a more worry-free one. I will note prices are high but that's to be expected with a place like this. But it's places like this that are worth every penny. read more

I can't simply say enough about Hawks Cay Resort in the Florida Keys...if you've ever wanted to have a tropical getaway styled vacation and you don't want to leave the US, this is the spot for you! Let me start by telling you the first time we came here we rented a three bedroom townhome which was just spectacular the only thing we had to do was just buy groceries... everything and when I tell you everything was included in the home from towels to dishes to every utensil cooking pot and pan, big screen TVs in every room (but whos got time for TV) free Wi-Fi and the list goes on and on... EVERYTHING! Oh and let's not forget the breathtaking views remember you're surrounded by water on a little island called Duck Key! I won't try explaining more just get there and see for yourself and don't forget to have a margarita! read more

The resort is a bit older and the service is not great! They run out of regular things all the time! Like salt, oatmeal and regular stock alcohol. Not impressed and was disappointed of that outcome. If they could step up their game in service that's would be helpful. Needless to say we will be looking for another place to stay in the future. Not impressed. read more

First off, we rented in the Marina Village and the room was very disappointing. Smelled moldy and was not impressive at all. After my husband experienced a fall from a hole outside we switched rooms to the Sunset Villas. This room was much nicer. We were super disappointed the Pirate Pool area where all family activities are located closed at 7:00pm. Also it is a walk all the way to the pirate pool area. They did not allow us to bring in juice boxes for the kids either. We asked to open an umbrella and they said they could not due to the winds. It truly was not windy but thats what they said. The worst was when we were accosted over towels. My sister grabbed some towels and I stayed to put them under our room but the pool attendant said he needed to either go to my car and check or follow me to my sister because he did not believe the number I gave him. I have never dealt with such a rude and basically hostile employee at any resort. Management did call me to get more information about my complaint but fair warning we would NOT recommend this resort. If you do decide to go despite this review and you have children, take your own towels to avoid pool attendant. Also take a stroller to get to the pool area. Super disappointing and not what you expect for the price you are paying. Honestly there is better places to stay at the keys which have been way more convenient and a so much better experience for us! read more

#1) wouldn't tell us if the room was ready over the phone, made us come in and then told us it wasn't ready (this wasted 2 hours of our time on the first day we arrived) and were condescending when I asked about this policy #2) Reserved a two-queen second bedroom, got a two-TWIN second bedroom, was told "sorry sir, there's nothing we can do." -had to arrange another room in town for our remaining guests #3) was told the room we had was waterfront, turned out, you could "see" the water from the room #4) room was never serviced the entire 4 days we were there #5) no extra garbage bags, no cleaning supplies, beat up kitchen supplies #6) had reserved a one hour lake check-out, yet housekeeping was knocking on and opening our door 5 times between 10am and noon. Summary: this place looks nice on paper, but service is horrible, units are aging and noisy (have video), parking was a nightmare (and as a result, someone damaged my fender) and management shrugs their shoulders on issues. Highly recommend you don't stay here read more

For what we paid I'm super disappointed. First day we witnessed a kid throw up in and outside the main pool. We told an employee and they did nothing which was shocking. After that we told the front desk who also did nothing, but gave us drink tickets smh. The mom of the son ended up throwing pool water over the vomit and that's how it was "cleaned up." We watched several couples walk through it, we were totally disgusted and took our kids to another pool located by our villa which was super quite. The best pool is the kids pool and pirate ship. The staff was friendly and attentive there, the kids had a blast! Our villa 507* had an amazing sunset view, it looked run down and had broken glass on the side of the house. I woke up to make breakfast only to find a COCKROACH AND GECKO in our kitchen cabinet, no I'm not kidding! They offered us a new villa, but we didn't want to move all our belongings so we had them spray. We figured the new villa would have cockroaches too and at least this one was sprayed . Day 3, we had a man setting off commercial grade fire works right outside our villa which woke up my young kids. I was very thankful the hotel security stopped that quickly. Of course the man or staff didn't clean up the firework mess. When turning on the shower black flakes fell into the tub (not sure what that was). For the price this "experience" was totally unacceptable. read more

Went with friends last week. The service and attention from employees is really good. But they don't tell you when you book that the hotel is not 100% open. So that was the first disappointment. I will never stay here again. We walked in on a male house keeper exiting our condo at 1030pm while our female nanny and two young daughters slept upstairs - which was completely unprofessional and unacceptable. We spent a week at Hawks Cay as a family in mid-March and had a great time. The people were friendly and the service was excellent. The all inclusive nature of this resort made it very convenient and relaxing. All charges could be made to our room which made enjoying all of the activities they have to offer very easy, both from an enjoyment standpoint and when it came time to checkout. We very much enjoyed the dolphin experience, snub, massage the lagoon, kayaking, paddle boarding, and hair braiding for the girls. We stayed in Sanctuary Village which was very nice, quiet, and within walking distance of everything. The fire pit in the evenings was wonderful as was the live entertainment. Puglisi's pizza was prompt, reasonably priced and excellent. The ice cream shop was similarly enjoyable. For beaches, we were able to make a very short drive to Marathon and take advantage of a number of nice beaches. All in all, a fantastic vacation location and plan on visiting again. read more

Too bad we wasted time & money to stay here. Should have stayed a few more days in Key West. Not much to do around resort, unless you're into baby sitting other people's kids that are out of control. Eating options very expensive, esp for kids. Snack bar is minimal and many items out of stock. Resort fee doesn't get you much, esp for adults. The area outside of resort is dismal. Some okay places to eat, however, be ready to drive up and down highway hoping to find something interesting to do. Forget this place. PS-reserve a visit to Turtle Hospital at least a day in advance if interested in going to this exhibit. read more

We had to cancel this hotel stay 4th of July week this year due to illness. We booked two rooms, the other for our traveling companions. They were still going. We paid UP FRONT for the first night of both rooms. Hawk's Cay had extreme difficulty only cancelling one of the rooms. Here it is September, and they NEVER refunded our money nor charged the other party/room correctly. It definitely appears we were double-charged. We had the same situation in Key West and that hotel had absolutely no problem rearranging our reservations. We are out several hundred dollars and obviously Hawk's Cay does not give a flip about customer service. On every phone call we made to them, they acted so confused, told us they couldn't help us, and could never even get us to the proper person to help with the situation. Since the Key West hotel was so courteous and helpful instantly, I'm giving Hawk's Cay a big fat F. When we reschedule our trip, we will stay elsewhere. Edit: Thanks for the reply, but reach out to WHOM??? We have obviously "reached out" several times already!!!!! read more

Service was beyond terrible. Not coming back again. Shuttle never came to pick us up to take us to the restaurant. Service at pool was awful. This is about their Thanksgiving Buffet, rather than the resort. We made Thanksgiving Dinner reservations for 8. The food was actually good, and there were no lines for the various food tables. The issue was (mostly) the service. They were woefully understaffed for a sold out dinner. We saw our waitress 3 times during the entire meal - she took our drink orders, 40 minutes later brought us our drinks (!!!), and then delivered the bill with a required 18% "gratuity" for the (lack of) service. Unreal. We walked around the place looking for water pitchers to fill our drinks. We grabbed other waitresses at various for things like silverware. The automatic tip was the insulting part of the horrible service. Additionally, the resort thought it would nice to bring in live music. Except they placed the singer in the middle of the restaurant and used near concert level volume. For a family Thanksgiving dinner. Absolutely brain-dead decision on management. You literally could not even talk to people sitting next to you. The resort is nice, but whoever was responsible for the entire (expensive) Thanksgiving buffet should no longer be involved in planning events. read more

Beautiful Place, great setting and plenty of swimming for my grandkids. Not too pricey for the accommodations we had - a three bedroom waterfront condo with plenty of room as well as a great setting! My grandkids swam themselves to exhaustion! Why not 5 stars, you ask? A few things. The brochure touts high speed internet. Not! With 4 pre-teens with iPads, iPhones etc. you can imagine the howls when I told them that dial up speed was the best they were going to get! Not in the condo...not anywhere on the property. I was told by the front desk that they were having technical issues with their wifi setup. They offered to refund the $39 /day facility fee for the inconvenience. At checkout, I had to remind them of the offer. You should check on the progress with the IT department before you book - if this is an important item for you. The cable TV did not work when we arrived. So, just after the wifi revolt, I had to tell the boys that the cartoon network would have to wait too! Here is the good news - literally minutes after I hung up with the front desk we had two techs knocking on our door! They triaged the cable (kids TV first) and made sure all four TVs worked before leaving. Impressive. The food is said to be great. I wouldn't know. Twelve bucks for a cheeseburger is too much for a large group like mine. We left the Cay and ate in Marathon. Speaking of Marathon, you would be doing yourself a disservice if you don't check out the other Keys. Bahia Honda, 20 minutes to the south is absolutely fantastic if you like white sugar sand and a beautiful setting. The locals are quite friendly throughout the keys. read more

Wonderful place to stay. Found this place from a tip on NBC's Today Show. Kathie Lee claims to love this place, and i DO see why. Easy to find, free valet parking (if desired), heated pool, adults only area, very friendly and warm staff, family friendly games/activities held by pool on daily basis, swimming-with-the dolphins held ON location, several grocery stores and pharmacies located within 15 minutes. But now for the negatives: bars close early, restaurants are mediocre (at best), lagoon is a bit rocky... and once you get a taste of the heated pool you gotta wonder if getting into a cold lagoon is really worth it? Tips on where to eat (you will thank me): -Lorelei Cabana Bar -Kaiyo Grill You're welcome. read more

I'll give this one a fiver based on being the strongest overall resort experience I've had in the Keys. Plus, there's fins right there outside behind the saltwater lagoon (what?!!) and they're extremely friendly. I'm not talking the Ricky Williams type, I'm talking the cool, squeakin' kind that just make you want to dive over the tape that says "premises under video - don't even think about diving over the fence and swimming here" - is that reverse psychology or what? The main lobby is quite posh and has a quiet Keys elegance. Well-designed with a nice waterfall wall, very clean and modern guest services area, great, semi-private sitting areas and decent separation overall within this space. This is the kind of lobby in which you can sit on a comfortable couch or armchair and just enjoy people watching and the smooth ambiance music for hours. Bar to the back right. Pools: very clean and beautiful. 3 to choose from, if you are over 21. (Adults-only tranquility pool and associated hot-tub.) General 50 meter lap pool, very well-managed and laid-out with 2 associated hot tubs. Hot tubs are hot. That's a strong plus. Finally, the saltwater lagoon. (don't go swimming in the boat channel or in the 'fin pool unless you are trying to make your stay short.) Aforementioned 'phins are kickin' it off to the side, stage left behind the capilla (one of two) and the mega restaurant. They must like the mood music because they are always leaping and frolicking around having a good ol' time. Big area. The signs mention that the 3-dimensional pool is roughly 16-18 ft deep in case you feel that the surface area to their pool does not allow for enough freedom to roam. Rooms: good, Ritz-Carlton standard in a paradise setting. Not to be sniffed at. Special accoutrements, nice touches like high-quality lamps, Gilchrest and Soames (sp?) products and mega-hurricane safe sliding glass doors (think that Jim Carrey movie where he whips them open and shut, screaming) block out not only noise, sun's rays but also add to the privacy of the cocoon... The staff is very helpful and attentive. IE: call ahead for your valeted car to be waiting for you. IE: don't want to walk to the gym or spa? golf cart call-ahead and they'll be waiting. Luggage to the room promptly, unpacked, etc. That's the good. HOWEVER, the food here needs a major upgrade. I would like to see a Gordon Ramsey show (Kitchen Nightmares) on this place and see a total turn-around, complete with a menu facelift and scrapping of everything that they have on the menu. The only thing cool about the food is that it all comes in these little bamboo steamer baskets, I guess so that they can sneak it in and out really fast without showing any other diners how little was actually eaten. So, don't come here for eating. Well, breakfast buffet is ok, but not a good deal at $18.95. I'm talking dinner and lunch aren't worth sticking around for - but don't expect too much on the roads close by. Make a drive to Marathon for some real grub. read more

5.11.2012 I have raised my review from 2 to 3 stars. Nothing below has changed except I have heard from the resort manager. He was deeply apologetic and, after frank discussions, I was impressed by his willingness and intent to make needed improvements in staff and room conditions. I will give them another chance. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- We stayed in junior suite for 6 nights. All in rate $500.00/night (taxes,25.00/night resort fee[tips]). The grounds were beautiful. However, the adult pool was much too warm. Nice size room, huge balcony, but the layout was not done well. The bed was great, but going to one side would either cause you to be impaled on the bed post or entertain hip bruises from the small dresser that created an opening that would only allow an anorexic to pass freely. Some of the worst lighting I have experienced in a hotel. Natural light was limited due to trees. Low wattage, eco-saver bulbs would lead eyestrain. The whole affect was gloomy. But perhaps not gloomy enough! Lincoln did not sleep here, but some of the carpet and furniture stains dated back to that era. We came in late and unpacked. The next day we noted a paper match on floor; we did not have any. Stains were numerous on the carpet. Management did offer to change rooms but would do nothing to at least spot clean carpet. TV reception was TERRIBLE - especially in the bedroom area; seemed like 1960s rabbit ears would have been an improvement. The front desk's response: that is our cable service ... live with it. No in-room movies; no DVD player available. Room service ends at 11:00AM restarts at 6:00PM ending at 10:00PM ( maybe a sandwich available until 11). One morning we called to have room service pick up and asked for housekeeping service. Housekeeping put the room service remnants outside the door; 12 hours later it was still there! Housekeeping had their own issues. Besides thinking that one wash cloth/day for a party of 2 was adequate ( I later called and asked if the hotel had a shortage); they were so sure of hotel security that they left our door ajar for over 10 hours! I saved this for last. The next morning I met with Lisa the day manager. I reported some of the events above and specifically the "open door policy". I stated that we could have asked the hotel to replace my 17" Mac Book Pro but that was not how we worked; we did not lose anything. I also stated that I thought $500.00/night was a lot for such poor service and amenities. She asked what she could do. It was not until we walked away that I realized the final element of poor service--- she should have offered something, not asked! We left, paying our bill in full. It's right next to the marina and ale house all the staff was friendly. Don't forget you can swim or watch dolphins that they have. The only little factor was they had no heating in the VILLA'S what is up with that! If you ever did not wanna walk they have a trolley system which was a great help! And also they are not closed. Made my family have a unforgettable trip! Recommend the Keys Fisherie. read more

This place is mammoth, and perfect for a couple day family or group two day trip. If you want to stay longer than a Friday to Monday you are going to want to have a car to explore other parts of the keys. Other wise you will be happy to spend all of your time here. The main road to the resort takes you from US 1 into the complex which is on the left, while actual neighborhoods are on the right and also on small Islands further down the road. (The founder of papa John's lives on one of these small islands and his famous car is often in the drive way). We have always stayed in the town houses when we go, which have three bed rooms, a big kitchen, decks, up stairs and down, three bathrooms, and a large family/tv room. From any of these town houses it is a short walk to the harbor, with beautiful views, boats, as all ice cream stand and of course the standard pub. A nice place to take a stroll in the dark hours. There is a pool and lagoon area just outside the main building, which sports two pools, a family and an adult pool for quieter swimming. There is also a small lagoon, surrounded by sand but filled with rafts, kids, and staff. Just past the lagoon is a dolphin area where you can get close and watch them swim in their pens. For a bunch of money you can swim with them but I have not taken that plunge. Through out the complex are tennis courts, mini golf, a volley ball court, all free to guests. You can also rent bikes cheaply and go explore the above mentioned islands. It is fun to go look at the giant houses, and all of the islands are loop roads, so you will not get lost. Be aware that the entrance and exit to each island is a little but very steep hill. Have strong quads or walk you bike. In the early morning hours I have gone for long runs out the front area and along US 1, and have felt safe the entire time, even over long distances. Just head south first. This is an awesome group get away. Bring your own groceries and drinks, and enjoy. read more

As I didn't get to enjoy my Memorial Day weekend this year, I opted for a relaxing end-of-summer getaway instead in August. Destination: I chose Key Largo, FL as I wasn't interested in driving all the way down to Key West this year again. Friends of mine had visited Hawk's Cay before and I liked the idea of the villas, so that's what I chose... I rented a Premier Bungalow Villa with 2 bedrooms and a pull-out couch for 3 days. I made the reservations on the internet through the website and didn't have any issues once I arrived. The villa comes with a full kitchen (microwave, oven, toaster, blender, refrigerator, dishwasher, and all the pots/pans/glasses you could want). As we were trying to save on some things, we brought more than enough food and/or drinks to last the weekend. We were able to store everything in the refrigerator/cabinets and cook our breakfast every morning. Six of us stayed and we were all very comfortable (2 on the pull-out downstairs) and 2 in each bedroom on the 2nd floor. For comfort, we had a half bathroom downstairs and the full bathroom upstairs. The bedrooms and bathrooms were very clean and we even had a nice balcony, both on the top and bottom floor to enjoy. Our villa had a view of the water and you could even watch the sunset. During the day, we called the shuttle to take us to the main lobby area (where the hotel is) so we could go to the pool and/or man-made beach. We remained here all day in the water and at night went back to the villa to watch TV, shower, and eat. If you get bored during the day, you can go rent a kayak or canoe or even a boat; and if you have kids, they can enjoy swimming with the dolphins (of course there is an extra fee for these type of activities). All in all, great vacation! Definitely didn't want to leave. read more
