What a great place to wind down with friends! Starting the evening with cocktails in the cozy waiting area near the bar was perfect. The drinks and experience were upscale but not pretentious. The staff was engaging, warm, welcoming, and happy. On to dinner, every bite of the food was perfection, starting off with the appetizers. The app for 4 was delicious, the sauces paired perfectly with the dishes and the elk tacos were a true standout! The burrata was good, but I would not say there was anything super special about it so I would probably pass on ordering it again. The entrees were all perfectly cooked and paired beautifully. I give kuddos to the chef, the steaks were perfectly seasoned and cooked to the exact temperature ordered. The "icing on the cake" was your selection of a compound butter to top the steak. On my second day in Dallas, one of my co-workers recommended Haywire. I came for lunch after a conference. My waitress recommended I try their 8oz garlic stuffed angus steak $49. Wow, this was terrific. I've never had garlic placed inside a steak before. The closest thing I had previously was at a Korean steakhouse where they put a small foil tray on the side with garlic and butter where you can spread the overcooked garlic as a spread. The chef at Haywire did a good job with searing the outside of the filet with the proper seasoning. Service was excellent. This was one of the best lunches I had in Dallas. Sunday Brunch * If you are staying in Uptown and want a brunch spot, this might be worth trying. Parking garage a few steps away the validates parking when you come here (parking is typical big city, hard to find, easy to miss the public spots, etc) * We started with the Mini Elk Tacos and flavor house it is! Never had Elk before but nothing weird to it at all. For mains, we choose the Wagyu Pastrami Hash and the Crabcakes Benedict. Hash was nice and filling and the pastrami was perfect. The Benedict was my favorite flavor but mine had shells in every bite. It happens, not mad about it but that's the only reason this review was not a solid 5 of 5 stars. The Chicken Fried Steak was great especially with the jalapeño gravy there was a perfect amount of gravy on it, not sure why some reviews are saying it was too much, it was just enough to cover the steak but not too much where the whole plate was packed. The panko was crispy and well seasoned as well. The mash potato it came with was decent, pro tip, ask them to cook the green beans more or else you may get it tasting almost raw. The elk tacos were good, I just think they needed more flavor on their own, but our server suggested the chipotle salsa and that saved the day. The lump crab dip was one of the best crab dips I've had in a long time. We had the pecan pie, because we couldn't go to Texas and not have it. My boyfriend doesn't usually like pecan pie, and I'm personally a foodie so if they made it well I love it. Well, we were both surprised st how awesome it was. The cold vanilla ice cream on top was a beautiful touch and the sauce was finger licking good and I'm not kidding when I say finger licking!! We also had the Texas red chili but their take on it replaced the beef with venison. And I've had plenty of chili before but.... this Chilli was fire!!! It might have been the best Chilli I've had or at least top 3. We had Cadillac margaritas, and they were strong but smooth. We were surprised how much we enjoyed it. Okay so, the food here is almost perfect. But the service is even better. Athena was our server and she knew the menu well, made good recommendations, was super friendly, and just had a really positive and nice vibe to her that made our dinner even more enjoyable. Not often are we in downtown Dallas for lunch, but today we were. Haywire was just the place for the four of us to get exactly what we wanted. Ambiance gets a 5 Stars plus! Such a fun place to relax and visit while waiting and watching them prepare some great food. I always enjoy visiting Haywire. Uptown's location is nice because they offer valet, which makes the experience so much better and you don't have to circle around trying to figure out parking. I prefer the dinner menu over the brunch menu, but brunch is still great! Today I ordered the barbacoa grilled cheese, which was unique and good. The coffee cake in a can is an absolute must! Mel, our waitress, took great care of us and provided great recommendations. She was so attentive and made sure we were enjoying our meal. Went dining at Haywire twice did take out once . So here is my review The Caesar salad was delicious I got double grilled chicken perfection on the seasoning. Had the pleasure of eating at haywire for a company dinner while on a business trip. They had great great drink options, and I ordered the red fish. I'm normally pretty skeptical about ordering fish at new restaurants, but it was cleaned very well and well seasoned. Our server was polite, informative about the menu and very funny. As far as the vibe, I definitely gave modern Texas restaurant with a Instagram a bowl twist. We sat on the outdoor patio and I'm not sure if this is props to the weather or their great AC but it didn't feel like we were outside. **Rating: 3.5 out of 5** I visited Haywire in Uptown on Sunday, June 30, 2024, and had a mixed experience. Starting with the valet service, I was put off by the attendant's rudeness. The valet stand is across the street from the entrance, and when I asked him to cross the street so I could get out and walk right in, he instructed me to meet him across the street instead. He didn't even open my car door. The restaurant manager informed me that the valet company is a separate, third-party service. Once inside, the dining experience was better. We started with the Lump Crab Dip, which was delicious and well-seasoned--perfect for sharing between two people. My date ordered the Smoked Angus Prime Rib, but it arrived cold, so we sent it back. Not sure if it had been sitting out or if the server delayed bringing it to our table. We opted for the Ribeye instead, which was juicy and flavorful. The Mac & Cheese he ordered was also tasty. I wasn't very hungry and decided on the Gulf Coast Ceviche, which was just okay. Being from Panama, I'm used to a different style. As I'm limiting alcohol, I chose the Mojito Refresher mocktail, which was so good and refreshing. The service was good overall, and the restaurant wasn't busy during our visit around 3 pm on a Sunday. Valet parking costs $7 plus tip, but they do have self-parking with validation available. Located in downtown Dallas and a nice spot for dining and some Texas vibe. This might be five stars however we were told the wait would be 45 minutes but that the bar was open seating so that's what we did. There were so many open tables and lots of servers present so it wasn't a service issue. Disappointing. However- The food and drinks did make up for the seating situation. Their cocktails are made with a specialty agave syrup- Backyard Nectar- which lend a very special flavor. Biscuits and Gravy were phenomenal. The bacon alone is worth the trip. This is an enormous restaurant! I had a work holiday dinner here last night and it was lovely! Our servers, Perry & Denise were Great, patient and courteous. They handled our group really well. The seating is a bit cramped the closer you get to the kitchen, so just pray to not be seated there. Drinks are good, food is good, and nothing is dry which is a BLESSING with southern comfort food. If I'm trying to impress someone from out of town with good Dallas Southern food, with a hint of bougie, I'm bringing them here and feeling confident about it. Great food! The fried green tomatoes were the best I've ever had, crab cake Benedict was delicious....could definitely taste the crab and wasn't over powered with breading. Chocolate cake was moist and not too sweet. The male half of the world food traveler duo was on a business trip In the Dallas area and was invited to Haywire, In Legacy West in Plano. This is an up and coming area with trendy shops, restaurants and apartments above. Our party of five ordered Chef's Favorite "4", a platter with queso blanco, onion rings, mini elk tacos and fried green tomatoes. We also had the Cornmeal Fried Texas Gulf Oysters and more Fried Green Tomatoes. The queso blanco came with they light and airy chips that were flavorful without the cheese dip. I'm not a fan of fried oysters, preferring them au naturel but these featured tomatillo pico de gallo, chipotle remoulade and micro greens and were delicious! Entrees included Roasted American Bison Filet for me, two had the 10oz Charbroiled Angus Filet, one opted for Shrimp & Grits, and another had the Chicken Fried Steak. One diner had the Venison Chili as a side. The bison was very lean but so tender and juicy; I prefer it to most cuts of beef. I tasted the Venison Chili ... wow, explosions of flavor in each spoonful. The Shrimp & Grits was declared a hit and so were all of the other dishes. We didn't have wine and I opted for a couple of Hendricks Gin & Tonics. When will bartenders learn to serve Hendricks with a slice of cucumber rather than the ubiquitous slice of lime? That, and the "just okay" cup of coffee were the only nitpicks I had for what otherwise was a fabulous meal in a very lively restaurant with very reasonable prices. Highly recommended! read more

Starting off with the bad-- 1. My friend ordered the chicken fried CHICKEN because she does not eat red meat. In fact, she hasn't ate red meat in over 10 years. Anyway, this was the day that she accidentally ate steak because our waiter had gotten her order wrong and put in chicken fried STEAK. 2. The manger, being a sweet soul, apologized and brought back what she had originally ordered which was the chicken fried chicken. She cut into the chicken and immediately noticed that it was raw. I've been to the Haywire in Plano multiple times and it was my first time at this location. My friends and I made reservations that came along with a 20 min wait. When we were seated it took another 20 minutes to get any service. The manager gave us a free app for the wait so that was cool. I had the rib dinner with Mac and cornbread. The ribs were decent (bigger portion size at other location), the Mac had a nice flavor but was watery, and the cornbread was good. The location in Plano is way better but my experience here was just okay. FYI, if you park in the garage attached to the restaurant they will validate parking. read more

Valet was convenient for $7 and when we went inside we were immediately seated, this Is where things went down hill. Haywire did not appear busy but we were not greeted for 5-10 minutes. Next, after ordering our drinks and appetizer we still waited quite sometime for our server and food. The ambiance was ok but the retractable windows were attracting moths and other bugs which made it less appealing. The ribs were overcooked but, the broccolini was pleasant and seasoned well. Arrived for our dinner reservation early so we headed straight to the bar. It's has a very cozy setting inside, kinda Texas sheik, but not Texas tacky if you know what I mean. Me being a bourbon guy, I was excited to order some nice pours. Unfortunately, they didn't have the first two pours I asked for off their bourbon list. Oh well, settled for my third choice. The pricing is interesting because you'll find some bottles priced nicely and some priced ridiculously. Either way there's something for everyone. The lump crab dip appetizer is an absolute must. Super creamy but super fresh. Didn't know the mushroom would lend itself so well to the dish too but spread on to their warmed bread, it was a oh so comforting. The pork belly burnt end is also a must order. It was kind of dry but the flavor was superb, the sauce was delicious, and the bark was nice. It was a tasty bite of food. My entree was the blackened catfish with the gulf shrimp, jambalaya, and basmati rice. The fish had very good Cajun flavor and was cooked very well. The shrimp tasted fresh and had a very good texture but was also kind of bland. The jambalaya also tasted nice, loved the sausage bits, but it kinda tasted like it had been on a steamtable all day, not too fresh. The rice kind of felt like an after thought unfortunately. The entree as a whole was successful, it's filling without being too heavy. Our waitress treated us astoundingly well. My final take on Haywire is, even though the food and service was very good, it didn't match the value for how much we were charged. Save it for a special occasion. read more

Came here for drinks and their rooftop but it was a pretty cold day so we stayed inside. We didn't have a reservation but it was Boxing Day so there weren't a lot of people present when we arrived although it seemed to pick up right when we were leaving. I had planned to have an entree but they had happy hour so we decided to try everything on their happy hour menu first then go from there. When I say everything was soooo tasty. I was pleasantly surprised how good everything tasted. My personal favorite was the lump crab dip (not on the HH menu). It was well seasoned, the right temperature and the bread was baked to perfection. I also really loved the bourbon smash drink off the HH menu. Our waiter rounded on us pretty frequently and our food and multiple rounds of drinkssssss arrived very quickly. By the time we were done with appetizers, we didn't have room for an entree. Had dinner at Haywire before an event nearby. The place was was not packed on a Tuesday night. Mainly the office happy hour crowd in that night. Appetizer: mini elk tacos (spicy elk picadillo / picoso cheese / grilled corn pico / cilantro crema / micro greens) Main dish: pan seared gulf snapper (chile rubbed / orzo / roasted jalapeño chimichurri / spinach / pickled tomato / citrus / micro cilantro) The elk tacos (comes in an order of 3 mini tacos) were delicious. The ground elk was paired with corn, cilantro, and cheese! I love the unique spin to traditional tacos. Definitely would recommend. For the main dish, I opted for the snapper. I had to keep asking for things we should have had or checking on our orders as they weren't coming out timely and not at the same time. The menu is southern comfort Texas food. We ordered several dishes and they all lacked flavor. The best part about our meal was the fried oyster dish. Other than that nothing really stood out to entice a second visit. My friend and I recently stopped in before an event in the area. We got the Chef's Favorite to share which has four appetizers. They were all delicious but my favorites were the queso and onion rings. The sampler is also very filling. I have now dined at the Uptown and Legacy West locations. We walked right in on a Sunday night, seated immediately before it would get crowded for dinner service. We started with dirty martinis and ordered the spicy crab dip. I liked the ambience even if it was playing country music, it wasn't too distracting. After reviewing their menu, we made our entree selections. The crab dip came out piping hot, crunchy on top and with pita bread to dip in. It was very good! Then, my hubby ordered the smoked prime rib. I ordered the wild game sausage charcuterie board and fried green tomatoes. Those also flew out pretty quickly! The tomatoes were good but I'd pass on those next time. Holy cow, that prime rib was delicious and juicy. The au jus and creamy horseradish were perfect. My board had some bratwurst style smoked sausages and some smaller sausage with crispy skin. The green tomato pickles were a great pairing with those meats. The cheese was great. There was honeycomb, some kind of fruit preserve and a creamy white cheese called labnah! Yum!
