I'm a regular here and cannot recommend this place more highly. Excellent whiskey selection and the food is superb (try the venison chili). The place has three floors, each of which has a distinct flavor: You can sip bourbon in the classy first floor bar, have a drink or a sit-down dinner in the elegant restaurant on floor 2, or (weather permitting), enjoy a cigar and a tasty beverage in the open air at the rooftop bar. Food was undercooked - to the point when I and my 2 coworkers cut into our pork chop, it was red. I was most disappointed with how the restaurant handled this. Sure, they were apologetic and sent complementary dessert at the end, but when we opted to have our entrees replaced with beef (ribeyes) because we were not comfortable ordering another pork item, we were charged for the higher ticket price of the beef. Now, I understand restaurants need to make money and I respect that. But to have made such a foul on the initial go, mgmt could have least considered comping a percentage or leaving our ticket at the lower entree price. This was a first impression dinner with a new functional leader and we were all embarrassed to have recommended a restaurant that would have this sort of occurrence and manage it so poorly. read more

I've been to Haywire several times love Haysire! We've been several times with friends and the atmosphere and food is amazing. The salads are always fresh and the fabulous entrees and desserts (try the pecan pie!) never disappoint. Trevor was our server recently and he is top notch. I have always wanted to try this restaurant So we decided to have our weekly Sunday night family dinner here. I made a reservation for 5:45 early but generally a good time for family dinner. I was seated immediately in the big dining area. It is very warm and cozy. There are really 3 things that I look for in a restaurant they are; Atmosphere, service, and the quality and presentation of the food. Atmosphere first impression is good. Service. Serious issues and lacking The lack of service attention is turning me off and resulting in a low rating. When I first arrived the dining area was not crowded and there were only a couple of tables occupied. There were alot of servers standing around and yet it took nearly 5-7 minutes for someone to even come over and acknowledge me. He finally came over, to take my drink order as I am waiting on others to join. I dont think he even introduced himself. He then brought my drink order and started to leave and I had to speak up and ask about starters. I ordered a couple of starters for our table and the rest of my party arrived just as the starters arrived. However the server that brought them just put them on the table and immediately left as I was trying to get his attention about one of the starters he ignored me. Then our waiter did not come back over for another 5-7min to get the other guest drink order, they had to get his attention to request a drink. Truly bad service all night. The food was delicious. Not sure that I would recommend this restaurant, as service is key to the experience. read more

This is going to be my new spot! OMG! 5 star service, gorg atmosphere, and AMAZING food. We cannot wait to go back and try all the things. The margarita on the rocks was my kind of jam. Fresh, light and not overly sweet. Decided to try the barbacoa grilled cheese with spicy tortilla and man I'm sure glad I did. Cooked perfectly, lots of meat and OMG that soup. One of the best I've had. Hubby got chicken fried steak, mash taters, and green beans. The steak was actually tender (hard to come by on fried steak at times) fluffy, buttery mash taters and flavorful and well cooked green beans. I haven't been this excited about a meal in some time and WE CANNOT wait to go back! Just wish I lived on that side of town still but it will be well worth the drive. The restaurant itself is very big with a lot of cool different seating areas, For valentines day we choose to sit in their patio area which has heaters making it perfect for any time of the year. The waiter was on top of everything and the hostess was very welcoming when we arrived. I did make a reservation online ahead of time but it looked as if they did have ample seating if you wanted to just stop in without a reservation. The food was delicious and appropriately priced. Wanted a great date night with my love and they came through. They hooked us up with a fantastic table with the greatest service. We ordered a bottle of wine and a charcuterie board both were flawless and well priced. For entrées I ordered the garlic steak and it was so tender and delicious. The mashed potatoes brought me back to my grandmothers house as they melted in my mouth. The red fish came out cooked perfectly with an amazing glaze a flavor. This is the 4th time we have been to Haywire and have previously enjoyed it there. That is why we returned of course. This visit, I ordered the blackened catfish which was great a previous time there; however, I was very disappointed tonight with my meal. The shrimp was overdone - chewy and burned. The etouffee was not rich but was thick or dry, like it had been on the stove too long (that's the only way I can describe it). But worse yet; the fish was "fishy" tasting. When blackened fish taste fishy, something is definitely wrong. For a "ranch to table" ingredient, as they advertise, this piece of fish was not fresh. I wanted to say something, but most of the night our waiter was nowhere to be found. For instance, when we asked for sweet and low for our iced tea, he disappeared. We waited and waited. He obviously forgot. He never refilled my wife's iced tea and when he did refill mine close to the end of the meal, it was so light it looked and tasted like it was half brewed. It took forever to get our bill. We saw other waiters helping customers with containers to take home their leftovers and placing them in a bag for them to carry out. Our waiter handed my wife a container and took off. I realize that I should have said something when I was there, but with a ghost waiter I didn't want to ruin the night by hunting down a manager to complain. Sorely disappointed. I hope this was just a slip on their part. I know I am being nitpicky, but for the money we paid for our meal, there really is no excuse for the poorly prepared and tasting meal and poor service. There is too much competition out there in Dallas and Plano, so next dinner out will be at the competition...........not Haywire. read more

They don't want my money I guess. They sent out an email on 9/16 promoting a Cowboy Whiskey dinner with virtual participation as an option. I thought it sounded fun so I click on the email to RSVP for the virtual dinner option. It prompts you to email the sales director to RSVP, so I do so. On 9/18 the sales director finally responds to inform the dinner is full, and directs me to a virtual dinner at their sister restaurant in Irving and copies their event manager. Now, why would I want to drive all the way to Irving to pick up dinner for a virtual dinner? And how in the world is a virtual dinner already full when I basically responded immediately about it? I respond to her email with questions, and I never hear back. Nor do I hear back from the sales director at the sister restaurant. Then, on 9/21 I receive another email promoting the Cowboy Whiskey dinner. Wow! How about that? So I email the sales director again and I call the restaurant and leave a message. Never got a response. Horrid customer service. read more

**DISCLAIMER** This is strictly a review of the third floor lounge, not of the restaurant itself. The atmosphere on the third floor of haywire is excellent. It is well protected from the elements, ample heating in colder weather, and a few TVs and a lounge area by a fireplace that provides entertainment as well. You can either catch a view of the Box Garden at Legacy Hall on one side, or a part of Windrose Avenue to watch the hustle and bustle of the Legacy West strip. Tablets loaded with a drink and cigar menu make it easy to find what you're looking. Cocktails are excellently made, with simpler pours and beer available as well (including craft beers from the next door brewery, Unlawful Assembly). I'm not much of a cigar guy, but the flavor profiles and descriptions provided helped me find a good one. Cocktails are slightly more expensive than next door; a Maker's Mark old fashioned ran me a couple of dollars more than at the neighboring food hall bars. But atmosphere is what you're getting here. It feels much more relaxed, mature, and adult here than at Legacy Hall (which later in the evening, especially on weekends, caters to the late 20s, early 30s party crowd). Here you can relax, enjoy a drink, and smoke freely without having to run outdoors on the street like a social outcast. For this alone I highly recommend stopping by and enjoy some of the finer things in life read more

What a great experience! We came here for an anniversary and they brought us a cute lamp decoration for the table that said "Happy Anniversary"! For an appetizer, we ordered the onion rings which were pretty good, but not sure if we would order again. For dinner we had the Cobb salad (one of the best Cobb salads!) and a steak, which was also amazing. To finish off, they brought us out a bread pudding for dessert to help us celebrate. We have always had a great experience at this location. We had 12:30 reservations for Easter Brunch on March 31. Traffic at Legacy West was absolutely horrible, there were people everywhere, so we arrived around ten or fifteen minutes late. There were three hostesses at the checkin when you walked in the door. One of them in a black cowboy hat and black jacket asked if we had reservations. I said yes and explained that we had been stuck in traffic, all she had to do is look out the window and she could see that it was bumper to bumper. I apologized, which she either didn't hear or just didn't care. So she announces, where everyone standing around waiting could hear; that since we were late they no showed our reservation and now we would have to wait. She was completely and totally unprofessional and just rude. There was no reason or excuse for her behavior. She could have discreetly explained what happened without making sure everyone could hear what she was saying. She also could have had some empathy and acknowledge that I apologized for the inconvenience, but she didn't. We got a table, our server was great and the food was excellent, but the attitude of the hostess put a damper on the whole day. Then there was another employee upstairs that appeared to be a manager who was oblivious to what was going on around her. She had on jeans, flannel shirt, cowboy boots, cowboy hat and was blonde with small pigtails. More than once she was in front of me in the buffet line blocking the line while she was sweeping or changing out plates for the serving utensils to sit on. She was in the way and causing the line to back up and she just kept doing her thing without noticing what she was causing. One time a server came up to her and was telling her that someone else needed to help him go downstairs and get glasses because he couldn't do it alone. They stood there in the line discussing this. They should have moved to the side if it was such an important issue instead of holding up the line. I know we will be back; however, the behavior of these two employees is not the level of service we are used to getting at Haywire. read more

Update Thursday Night: My hubby and i returned here tonight for dinner. Lunch was SO good yesterday that we had to go back! Again, Haywire rise to the occasion! We started with wine (him) and a local beer (me) and both were fabulous. REED was our server and he was outstanding. Super attentive and professional and willing to assist us with any requests or questions. My husband ordered a ribeye. I ordered a filet with hand cut French fries which were seasoned lightly with a Cajun seasoning. Super yummy! We also shared a Caesar salad which was quite good! REED was again very thoughtful and divided it into two plates for us. We were remembered by several of the staff that remembered us from yesterday! Which was very cool and flattering! People don't always remember what you say but they remember how you made them feel. You feel welcomed here at Haywire. Patrick, one of the staff members, came up to our table and we had a fabulous conversation. Danny from the bar also cane over and stopped by our table to welcome us back. We were very touched that we had been remembered and that they cane over to say hi and welcome us back. I wish we had saved room for dessert because i understand that their desserts are legendary! We will remember next time!!! Thank you to Reed, Patrick and Danny for making us feel at home and serving us amazing food! I love the spacious and comfortable design of this restaurant. The three levels each have different seatings, so whether you are here for a bar experience, nice dining, rooftop drinks or relaxing on one of the big couches you will find your spot. Haywire seems great for every occasion! If you are a wine and cigar lover you will find your pick as well. I don't smoke so the cigar smoke by other guests at the rooftop was a little annoying. The service was good and my waitress Rachel was really friendly and checked back often to see if I wanted anything else.
