This experience will probably be my last here. The food is great but the service was terrible. We arrived 20 min before closing, to place a to go order and we were greeted with we are closing soon. We asked if we should even order and did not get a response and then when we asked if we could order she rolled her eyes and said of course. The entire time we were ordering 2 burgers we got rolled eyes and attitude. The kitchen was still making 3 orders in front of us so it wasn't like we came in and the kitchen was already closed down, one of those being an order to eat there. Then at the end we were told this order if for to go just so you know. While waiting for our food the girl who rang us up was talking to another other girl in the back clearly about us glaring at us through the window. One of my biggest pet peeve's about restaurants is when they offer something on their menu and you go to order it and they tell you that they have run out. We get there at a little after four in the afternoon After looking at their yelp reviews which talks about their steak sandwich and I go to order it, I'm told unfortunately that's a popular item and we run out. If it's a popular item wouldn't you think you have enough on stock not to run out? And actually she was really unapologetic about it which was even more disappointing. I don't expect her to grovel at my feet, but at least give the impression that you're sorry. Especially as that is one of the main reasons I took everybody there. The restaurant had maybe six other people sitting outside eating and our drinks came fast, but it took them more than 30 minutes to bring out our food. I would understand if the restaurant has been busy, but it wasn't and all we ordered were hamburgers and fries and sodas. My wife felt her burger was extremely bland and was very disappointed, I ended up ordering the California burger which was pretty good. My daughter Ceasar's salad was just OK. If I am everback in that area again, I may stop by again and try to get the steak sandwich as that looked pretty good, But I definitely won't go out of my way. read more

Pretty bad unless you're partial to mediocre lukewarm food; extremely slow service; food that arrives in installments; and complaints from a grumbling, self-pitying owner. When we ordered our food, there was only one customer ahead of us. Oddly, several people who arrived after us received their food while we continued to wait for ours. We inquired politely - twice - about our missing order. Our 2 hamburgers with the not-very-good French fries finally arrived lukewarm after 30-35 minutes. They were delivered on a single, small metal baking sheet. (Huh?) When I asked the owner if we could please have 2 plates, she grudgingly said, "OKAY, I'll get you some plates," as though I had asked for something unusual. She handed me 2 paper plates. But still no milkshakes. We waited another 10 minutes and then inquired about the shakes. Then one them arrived. The 2ndmilkshake took another 10 minutes. Both shakes were so thick they were nearly solid, sort of like the consistency of wet cement. The owner came out to tell us she was "upset" that we had inquired concerning the whereabouts of our food. (Really??) I reminded her that the food was late and barely warm. YUMMY! This place is a great alternative to a sit down, pricey meal at other places. The burgers are juicy, flavorful, and are cooked perfectly. My boyfriend had to stop here after seeing the menu and pictures. We came after the barrel tasting wine event. He ordered the mondo cheeseburger and thoroughly enjoyed it! He was told that it was a big burger with double meat, which is fine with him! We were also told that the large fry comes over flowing with lots of fries. So it was nice that that information was disclosed up front. My blt was delicious! The fries were nice and salty if you like that. Cooked just right. Very cool little old school burger stand. Has a really neat outdoor area unfortunately it was way too cold to eat outside on the day I went. This is what they call a "fast casual" service kind of place. You order and pay at a counter and then they bring your food to your table. The ordering process was very slow today at lunch. There were about ten people in line and the person at the counter had to take everyone's order, act as cashier, run the ticket back to the kitchen and get and deliver all drinks. As a result, it took about 15 mins. of waiting inline just to get to the counter to place your order. The timing was off on the delivery of the food to the tables. The fries arrived about ten minutes ahead of the burgers. The sweet potato fries needed salt and were limp and mushy. No crunch on the exterior at all. No ketchup on most of the tables. I had read the review below that said the cook was touching raw meat and the veggies/buns with his bare hands so I watched the cook during the 15 mins I was waiting in line. He did the same thing, touching raw meats like bacon and then grabbing raw potatoes to put thru the potato slicer. Granted, any bacteria on a potato that was subsequently deep fried would not survive, but this is a bad habit for the cook to get into. Burger was good, however. read more

This place was SO good! My husband and I were visiting a winery nearby and they recommended that we try this place. We stopped in, I ordered a burger and my husband ordered a hot dog, fries and a chocolate milkshake. They brought our fries out first with Sriracha and ranch...yum! The fries were so good! We have always loved this place ... food is really terific. This was our first trip out for food in the pandemic and have been dyting for a burger from this place. The door has a sign that says absolutely no admittance without a mask, which was comforting. When I went to pick up my order, I saw one of the cooks, a tallish young man with his mask around his throat joking about not wearing a mask ... everyone else was wearing one. Mix that with hand cut fries and onion rings and you've got something great. My sister and I ended splitting a bacon cheeseburger with sweet potato fries and a beer. It ended up being a fifteen dollar lunch but honestly it was more food then the two of us could eat. So overall I believe it is a very good value. My girlfriend ordered a special sandwich from the combo board which was a steak sandwich on sliced sourdough. It was piled high with lettuce and tomato. She felt that the bread was not the right bread for the sandwich. It couldn't hold up to all the steak deliciousness. I want to go back and try one of the milkshakes. This is the first time I've been here in five years, a lot seems to have changed. The signs and marketing look nice, the experience ordering food felt like a high school lunch line, really it was just unorganized and the person taking orders since socially uncomfortable speaking to people. Not a big deal. But we waited about 30 minutes to receive a very simple order, once I received my steak sandwich the bread was so soggy it completely fell apart. They were quick to toast me up another piece of bread, just ended up tasting like a really playing homemade sandwich due to the new toast not having any condiments. Kind of a bummer considering I don't spend money to eat out often. The employees all seem to have a smile on their face so I'm assuming they're treated well. About 20 minutes later, I recieved my lunch. 6 small onion rings, placed on a skewer sticking out of my burger. The top one was the smallest and inedible. If I knew how to load a pic, I would. Went here for lunch last Friday. This place is a gem. I had the tri-tip sandwich, which isn't something I believe they offer all the time. Meat was tender and the sauce was a perfect compliment. I have eaten here before and thought the food was good. today I went there with several other people and we ordered two Lamb burgers and I had the sourdough burger. The Lamb burgers were very dry and did not have much feta cheese on them, and they came medium well almost a little burned. We weren't asked how we wanted them cooked. The onions on the sourdough burger were totally burned. The fries were the only good thing about this lunch. The fries were served to us at least 10 minutes before our burgers arrived. Burgers average around $8.50 and fries are $2.50 for a small order, The Lamb Burger was $11.50, very expensive.... I am in the restaurant industry and would NOT recommend this place to others and will not be returning. My wife heard this place was good from a coworker. I had the 14 oz mondo burger with cheddar and Swiss. My meat cooked properly and dripping with juices. The sesame bun was unremarkable. Garlic fries were crispy on the outside and soft inside. Mild garlic flavor that was not overkill. My son had the kids meal which was standard kids fare (corn dog and fries) it was appropriately priced Adult food was slightly over priced but close enough that I would not say don't go here. My wife had the BBQ bacon burger ordered well done (I know she's crazy but I still love her... I mean well done?). Anyway they did it medium so we sent it back. The staff member said "is it not well done enough". The meat was one hundred percent pink throughout. It was a very red medium... Redder than mine which I ordered medium. I don't know if the staff was just giving attitude or didn't know what "well done" means but either way that's a problem. 4 stars otherwise... Come on people!! Where do you get burgers? There are only a few decent relaxed atmosphere burger joints to enjoy a VERY GOOD burger!! and this place is one of them... The owner and wait staff are all wonderful.... they give you extra portions of both fries and onion rings... the onion rings are not minced (John S.) but REAL onions with a good quality batter. The burgers are 100% real beef.... not like some of those places (further up north along 128) who claim to have "World Famous" burgers and taste like cardboard and as thin too... and charge $$$$ for absolutely dogfood. Healdsburger is a great place to come with friends and enjoy nice BBQ style burger .... I've had a few of the burgers and the last one was the blue cheese burger which was wonderfully cooked and served... the drinks were cold, the fries were hot and plenty and the service was great...... and the price was fair market value... So people go try this place and then go up north and try the other place... and you'll surely be back to Healdsburger each and everytime... !!! read more

The "garlic" fries were good but severely lacking in garlic and parmesean (as I was expecting based on other pictures!) The service is good and sitting outside on an old drive in restaurant is fun. We just didn't care for the burgers we got. They had a burned charcoal taste. Pretty strong. Maybe they need to clean the grill or use less heat so the burgers don't burn on the outside. The best burger in town in my opinion is hbg. Healdsburger has a new owner, as of May 2008 -- and it ROCKS! It really gets 4.5 stars! It's kind of on the "other side of the tracks" but it is definitely worth the visit. My mom and I were in town for her high school reunion ("54 for '54!") and came for the weekend. We didn't want a huge formal dinner, and as we passed this on H'burg Ave (formerly West Ave) we said, "what the heck." She remembered the old A&W and we had no idea what to expect, and we were very pleasantly surprised. The new owner is great at customer service. She is 8 months pregnant, so don't expect to see her much longer for a couple months! Order at the counter and sit wherever. They'll bring your huge portion of food to you. Hamburgers, turkey burgers - all fresh - not frozen! Even the french fries are made once you order them, and wowza, they are amazing! Seriously. They are, of course, fried, but they are not overly greasy or salty. The also have a gardenburger for us vegetarians -- and the lettuce they use for everything is green leaf lettuce, not iceberg, so that is such a great touch. The bun is lightly toasted on the inside It's definitely a blue collar kind of place - guys coming in after a long day of work - but it's very comfortable. Although 3 stars isn't bad, I really wanted to give Healdsburger a better review. First, their burgers are really good to excellent, a must try. And the folks working here are fun, nice and attentive so they get good props too. So why only a 3 star? What wasn't good was the milk shakes, our were very runny, we even had to take one back, all they did was drop some ice cream in it, not even mixed it up again. The french fries, although you get plenty in an order, they were limp and not very tasty.
