I have been a patient of Dr James Edmonds since 2001 when he was with another dental office downtown just a few blocks from my office. I had a bad experience with that dental office as a whole but found Dr Edmonds to be honest, ethical and not willing to follow the marching orders of a boss who was out to make money off of the county dental plan. The owner of the clinic wanted to do thousands of dollars of dental work that Dr Edmonds felt was unnecessary. At that moment, I knew I had found my new dentist. I was willing to follow him wherever he moved to! Flash forward a few years when Dr Edmonds left that practice and began working in Des Plaines. Despite not having any business or friends or relatives in the Des Plaines area, I continue to drive twice (sometimes more) yearly for my scheduled cleanings and routine dental care. I had a filling redone yesterday and it was a doozy. Despite a long time in the chair and tons of drilling, once the novocaine wore off, I had no pain of discomfort. Throughout the procedure, both Dr Edmonds and the dental tech, Rebeca, were courteous and sensitive to how I was doing, etc. From the staff to the decor to Dr Edmonds cheery disposition, I cannot say enough positive things about him and this dental facility. To illustrate their kindness and flexibility, yesterday, while I was comfortably waiting in the waiting room, an elderly woman in a wheelchair was brought in by someone I assume was her son. According to the front desk, she had called twice earlier that day to cancel her appointment. It turns out she had some dementia, which is so unfortunate. New Age Dental had filled her spot, which she had canceled twice, with another patient. Even so, they still scheduled her for care that day. I'm sure this meant someone had to stay later than planned, but that's a small price to pay for such excellent service. My hygienist, Tori, is the one I almost always see to work on my mouth (we didn't have fluoridated water where I grew up; my parents and the town thought fluoride was a communist plot, which, combined with having soft teeth, means I have a lot of metal in my mouth, not to mention plenty of crowns). Tori is such a wonderful, personable, and skilled technician that I no longer need to take Diazepam before going to the dentist. She always considers any of my concerns, and with a mouth like mine, there's always something! I should also mention that the entire office is equipped with the latest dental technology, whether it's for x-rays, teeth cleaning, or anything else. The office is clean and well-maintained. Dr. Koko, whether he's checking on my mouth or replacing a worn-out crown, is always friendly and inquisitive, and more importantly, a skilled dentist. The procedure took way too long at 6.5 hours for a root canal over 2 days, my jaw locked up because he left me sitting there while he jumped from room to room (I swear he has ADHD)! I'm not sure the procedure was even necessary! He books multiple people at one time, there's 6 rooms. I left after seeing him a few times that was enough!
