Hello, Potential Customers, It is hard to think of all the ways that Duane Smelser helped me. First, he recommended that I have Vocational Rehab pay for my new hearing aids. That was a tremendously helpful suggestion. (Vocational Rehab paid for my new, much higher quality hearing aids.) Duane then got me into Siemens/Signa hearing aids that were a big improvement over my previous brands. They lasted years. But then my hearing declined further and Duane felt that it was time for me to go to a specialist who is more knowledgeable about cochlear implants than he (Duane) is. As I wasn't satisfied with my prior hearing care experience I had occasion to visit Duane as I needed some maintenance done on my hearing aids. I am certainly glad that I checked Yelp first before selecting an audiologist as my experience was exceptional! I found that my original hearing aids had never been fitted properly as a result I missed most conversations and couldn't even hear the TV. Duane offered to give me a hearing test while I was there and found my hearing aids so mis-programed he offered to re-program them for me. I spent well over an hour there and walked out not only with my hearing aids cleaned and some parts replaced but a completely different hearing experience after the re-programming. I found I could hear conversations around me that I hadn't heard in years. When I returned home I turned on the TV and much to my surprise I could hear it just fine! I would highly recommend Duane to anyone who has a problem or suspected problem with their hearing or are dissatisfied with the performance of their current hearing aids. I have been to numerous audiologist's and I have never had as positive an experience as I did with Duane. I should mention that this didn't cost me anything!! There have been a lot of exciting changes in technology in hearing aids in just the two years since I received my hearing aids and he took the time to explain all this so when the time comes to replace my current pair I will certainly go here. read more

I had a situation where I needed to get new hearing aids in less than a week turnaround (1st appointment Thursday; fitted and ready to roll the next Monday). I did not think this would be possible but Duane went above and beyond the call of duty (as did the manufactor Signia) to make this happen. One important feature of Duane's service is his good relationship with the manufacture company. This was crucial to our success in getting an aid fitted so quickly. He treats his manufactors with the same respect as he does the customer. As a result, he is able to make things happen that others might not otherwise be able to do. Went to see dwane in December as I was trying to beat my insurance deductible deadline. He's a nice guy , very informative but in the end told me I was borderline deaf in both ears not just one as Costco told me . I after consulting my insurance in his presence was able to have him submit insurance forms to my insurer but they were rejected . This company was not on the provider list. This company doesn't deal with insurance companies as a business practice, they wish to be paid when the products are fitted and delivered . I did not find out about the rejection till I called my insurer in January 2019 . After being directed to another provider that was on the list I was informed according to the test results I only needed one hearing aid ... I consider this a poor business practice to be selling a client a product they do NOT need. These products are very expensive so being informed you need something you don't constitutes a one star rating read more

My spouse has had hearing problems for many years and has used several brands of hearing aids. But it is our whole family that benefits from these hearing aids. So the service that is being provided by Duane at Hearing Health is appreciated by my husband and me and our family and friends. There are several good brands of aids available but it is the SERVICE in this office that has made all the difference for us. The initial testing was more extensive that any rec'd in previous years. We were there to purchase new instruments that day, but he found that the hearing aid we have was not adjusted correctly, and in fact, one portion had not even been activated by our previous hearing office. So we went home with same hearing aids but he is now able to hear so much better....now he can hear all the birds singing again and also has turned down the volume on the TV so much that now I can hardly hear it. Before I went to Hearing Health, I had already had what I thought were pretty good experiences with two different audiologists over the last 8 years. But since both of them had retired, I needed to find a new practitioner. I spent time reading reviews and then calling several different clinics. I was impressed with the very good reviews that I found online for Duane and his clinic. I also had a favorable experience when I called the clinic and talked to his wife. I decided to schedule a simple consultation in order to learn more about Duane and his clinic. Right away, I could see that Duane was very knowledgeable about most of the hearing aids on the market. As a physician, and as someone who has already worn hearing aids for a number of years, I am more experienced than many people looking to purchase their first hearing aid. But even though I had already worked with two different audiologists, I felt that Duane offered me something better in terms of his experience and commitment to caring for his patients that I hadn't experienced before. I went ahead and ordered a pair of new hearing aids and am working with Duane to get them adjusted to my personal preferences. We took Mom in to see Duane about an assisted listening device for her to use in her event room at her assisted living facility. Her hearing really needed serious help in general, but she had no interest in hearing aids due to a prior negative experience somewhere else. Duane was very thorough in his exams and evaluation. His demeanor was friendly, professional and very respectful. He is very knowledgeable and was able to explain very clearly how untreated hearing loss impacts the brain. He was able to show Mom what he could do to improve her hearing. We had no idea that Mom would end up with hearing aids that day!
