They were served tasting very sour so we politely asked for them to remake and they added ice and no vodka. Feel ripped off. Ok, first and foremost, I absolutely do not mind paying for quality, it's actually priceless. But the prices here certainly do not reflect the quality of your meal. I don't mind ordering burgers for the kids, four of them for $64, that would be OK for an outstanding burger, but that's not what we got. Asked for medium, got the hockey puck well done, which wasted the idea of a grass-fed beef selection. My pastrami ciabatta sandwich was not cold, but not hot, either and was sort of rubbery and chewy. That is something I hadn't ever experienced on a pastrami sandwich before. As a whole, I didn't really find good value in the food offerings. For the prices the restaurant is charging, I would expect a much better effort in their offerings. The Porter House just stepped up their game! If one were to refine what worked at the previous location and completely redo everything that didn't from the ground up, you would get the Hearth and Tap. The menu has been completely redone (for the better), lots of beers are on tap, service was pleasant and attentive, and the cigar bar sections have stayed right where they were. Perfect. I was not hungry yesterday. My husband got a regular flatbread and asked me to taste it because he said the dough was good. I would have to agree with him that it is indeed good. The waitress was a bit loud but I think she was trying to offer good customer service. The Mac and cheese my son ordered was very good according to both my son and my husband. I've been coming here for years and still think of it as the Porter House. Great cigar pub with an Irish theme and a good cigar selection. My biggest gripe is the menu and pricing. Whether you buy a beer or something from their now overly complicated menu, prepare to shell out a good amount of cash. The menu will make you go cross eyed. Don't get me wrong though cause whoever the chef is, 5 stars. But this is a pub and this place needs a special menu for the bar! I still don't understand the name change because they need to do a lot more than that to draw a new crowd. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Large outdoor patio is a huge plus too. My first review! I loved this place! The atmosphere, the ambiance, and the food were all out of this world good. My sister had the steak and it was really excelent. I had the meatballs and salad. I can't say enough about the meatballs - for a pub it was really a homemade tasting tasty dish! :) We will definitely be back because the drafts were on the mark and the food was served hot. Went on a date night and had some small plates (appetizers) and a flat bread. Our server was very helpful in recommending some of the more popular dishes and she did not disappoint. The crispy brussels sprout was a delicious experience; as was the avocado ciabatta toast. Went here for dinner and drinks with a few friends. We decided to order a bunch of smaller plates, and share, family style. Crispy Brussel Sprouts: A+. Cooked perfectly, really great glaze/sauce that reminded me of a gourmet version of sesame chicken sauce. Braised Short Rib with Fried Gnocci (Main Dish): Nice portion of beef, tender, great sauce reduction. Gnocci were fluffy inside, but nice and toothy outside due to the frying. Great dish, we all enjoyed it. Macaroni and Cheese w/ Braised Short Rib. Solid, tasted good, but somewhat of a letdown. I was expecting something a bit more unique, with more gooey cheese and pulled-beef saucy meat. This was spiral pasta with a few chunks of beef in it. Again, tasty, solid, but not mind blowing. Tempura Cauliflower: Like an asian buffalo wing, but instead of chicken, cauliflower. Unique dish. Homemade Empanadas: Very delicious, solid empanada. heartily stuffed with beef and fillings. Pork Belly and Egg Flat Bread: Definitely a true flat-bread, not a "pizza", per se. But the crust was tasty, nice runny egg yolk, plenty of chunks of pork belly. If you're a pizza snob expecting a neapolitan style crust, you won't fine it here. Nonetheless, a tasty item. Overall, HATCO delivers some unique dishes, and does a fairly decent job of elevating a pub menu to "gastropub" status. I think it's a wee-bit expensive for a NJ bar - especially the cocktails. But the food was solid, portions were ample, and I left satisfied. The meal was given to her without any mention that they were out of coke slaw. Then, when my wife asked, they simply ignored her question. Finally, I asked to speak to the manager. The manager nicely explained that they ran out. We explained that this should have been explained before they placed the order or gave us the plate. Ribs without Cole slaw is like a cheeseburger without cheese to many. Tonight, my son ordered the steak. He loved it last time we were there. This time, it was tough and overcooked. We told the waitress. My son said to pack it up since we would:be done eating by the time the steak cane out. The waitress was nice and did this. We were shocked that a manager didn't come over to speak to us or offer compensation for the meal essentially being ruined. Just finished up a great meal at Hearth & Tap. The main manager/host went above and beyond to correct a hiccup with getting seated. He genuinely cared to make sure the rest of our meal went smoothly, and made an effort to check in with us again as we were leaving. This speaks volumes for a great manager. As for the food, everything came out hot and was definitely delicious. Would certainly recommend the chicken pot pie! The brussel sprouts appetizer was a huge hit, we all said we could drink the sauce. This used to be one of my favorite local places. I loved the Short Ribs and the Brussel Sprouts dish es so much that I used to order them for delivery at home at least once a week. The last few times, however, the food has not been great. I'm not sure if there is new stuff but the food now is salty and not flavorful. My boyfriend had to send his steak back twice because it was dry and overcooked. The manager was rude and our son overheard her talking about us when he went to the bathroom. Just terrible. Fries in truffle oil with parm--pleasant surprise. I had the New York strip done very rare ...and it was! Too many restaurants over cook a steak. They didn't. my wife had salmon. Very flavorful. Desert was as brioche bread pudding with creme Anglaise and a vegan chocolate desert that was terrific. Service was professional and with a smile. Watching the staff perform at other tables was to notice that others had a similar experience to what we had. No grumbling. No one looking at their food and complaining. We sat at the bar - cozy and well appointed - with an excellent bartender, Brian- the perfect combination of conversation, menu recommendations and good service; the beer was cold and the dishes - Mac & cheese with braised beef and Lamb/beef herds (Shepard's) pie absolutely delicious. Looking for a great burger--googled and found this place. Staff very friendly and accommodating, server's name was Dan (I think)-great service. Asked if our first time, so he showed us the cigar bar and the member only cigar club. A great ambassador for this place. Food was excellent--burger did not disappoint and on point! Now regarding dessert, maybe the owner won't appreciate this, but we asked if the Tiramisu was made on premises--Dan is honest and says no but key lime pie is--order it and it was excellent. I'm kind of torn on this place. My first visit a few weeks ago was really good (I had the fish n chips) and the fish was flavorful and crispy, although I noticed a faint unpleasant odor in the restaurant that I eventually realized was cigarette smoke. I'm assuming this establishment used to have a lot of heavy smoking going on before the laws changed, and nothing was done to eliminate the odor. 2nd visit was last week, and it was disappointing. I ordered the hangar steak sandwich, and everything was good except the steak (bland, chewy, and not much of it). Again, I noticed the faint aroma of smoke. I'd give them another try, but probably stick to some of the small plates or just not order a sandwich again. Service is usually good for the most part, but they seem flustered when accommodating a party larger than 5 people (first visit, our group of 6 was split between 2 parallel tables and last week, a large party came in for lunch and the staff was trying to figure out how to seat them first at 2 large round tables, and then settled on long tables behind us, causing a server to continually bump into my chair each time he had to move between the 2 tables). read more

My wife and I have been dining at this location for years. We've generally had our dinner on the patio. Over the past 7-8 years the food has been steadily declining. It went from a regular in our rotation to out of the rotation. This 3 star review is rounded up from the 2.5 I think the restaurant deserves. We'll give it another try to see if it was just an "Off" night for the kitchen. Pros The appetizer croquettes were fantastic. The appetizer cauliflower tempura was the highlight of the night. Cons We ordered onion rings and they seemed to use breadcrumbs to coat them. Besides the fact that they had no flavor, they were extremely over cooked. The fish in the fish and chips was also very overcooked. My wife and I were split on the mushy peas with mint. She liked it, I thought it was awful. It's a matter of taste. When I first heard Porterhouse was changing pretty much everything, I was quite upset. However after returning to the wonderful Hearth & Tap, it was the best thing they ever did. The menu is better than ever (I didn't even think that was possible) and their drinks, as always, are fabulous. My friends and I try to make sure we get out to Hearth & Tap every few months, and this past Wednesday we ate at the bar and had phenomenal service from Bob & Erica. It pains me when I look forward to something and it turns out to be a flop! So we were driving back from a long day on the range and I decided to google something on our way back. This place pops up we call, no reservations required, but I gave them my name and seating was available immediately. The place is mobbed it's prime-time Saturday night. We're greeted by our waitress with water and menus. Menu selections looked great, another man approached our table and took our order for appetizers. Then waitress returned took our order for dinner. I order a bacon cheeseburger, medium-rare. An hour goes by, we ask our waitress for the appetizers and confused she said you never ordered any, we explain about the other man walking around taking orders and she apologies and says "we're swamped as Fu**, but your food will be out soon" Okay so no apps, food arrives, burger is well-done, no bacon, manager comes over and apologies offers dessert on the house. Waitress then comes over and says "since you didn't get two appetizers, you'll get two desserts" there were 3 of us. So then the bill comes and there's an extra beer on there that we didn't order and a soda. To summarize, not only did they not deliver apps, food arrived in an hour with well-done burgers, our waitress uses profanity to explain the mishap, we're shorted a dessert AND they add extra items to the check.
