The food was wonderful. So fresh, flavorful and cooked perfectly.. The atmosphere and decor magically let you escape from the everyday. I love the new Porterhouse!!! The food is outstanding, I've been a lot in the very short time it has been open. First I love the room in the front, it used to be a boring dinning room... not any more. It's actually broken up into 2 sections (all non smoking) the very front of the restaurant in a homey place to sit and have dinner with lots of really cute booths that make it feel like you are having a private dining experience. The back 1/2 of the room is now a bar with a pizza oven, it's really an amazing space, fits in very well with the old bar (that still has smoking). Btw I didn't smell smoke at all in the restaurant, I didn't go in to the smoking part. Now the menu... OMG!!! Amazing. Had lots to eat so far as I have been with multiple people. You absolutely must order the brussel sprouts and the cauliflower tempura (both apps found on lunch and dinner menu) they are sooooo good. The "salt and pepper" baby squid on the lunch menu was cooked to perfection, as good as it gets. The croquettes were very good but the sauce that comes with it... out of this world. Mac & cheese was amazing got it once plain and once with pork belly, IMO didn't need the pork belly, I thought it was perfect without it. The avocado toast was very good although I thought it could use more watercress. Chicken pot pie... to die for. My husband who is Austrian got the Stroganoff, he said it was good, not like the real thing but still good, he said he could have done with more sauce. All in all I don't have a bad thing to say about Hearth & Tap and I would highly recommend this place to anyone. read more

Our first time here. Comfy place, airy, very good service that suggested all the right items. We started with the tempura cauliflower with sirracha . I loved it! Crispy edges and accompanying chunks of bleu cheese. We split the candied bacon flat bread. Large portion..enough for 3..with Nuestche bacon and pineapple. Nice pairing! We both ordered the HATCO burger with a fried egg atop, bacon, cheese. Being a burger snob (nobody makes burgers better than me), I had my doubts. It was the best burger ive had in a very long time. Hot, juicy, cooked perfectly to my liking..the fried egg delicately breaking, oozing all that rich goodness. The fries were very good..appeared to be hand cut. We split the apple crisp..very good, and the pecan pie..which should've come out warm. A very good experience. We will be back!! read more

My wife and I had dinner at the Hearth and Tap Co (previously known as the Porter House) recently. It was their official opening night. We were warmly greeted by the receptionist and seated promptly. This is a Gastropub with an Irish flavor. We also spoke with the general manager Michael and the assistant manager Michelle., they both were very helpful in describing the various menu items. This is a Farm to Table restaurant where every effort is made to grow the foods locally adding to the freshness of the food preparation. The food was very good, Alex or server was excellent and the atmosphere was nice. There is a beautiful outdoor dining area also. If you are looking for a nice evening out, I would recommend this restaurant. read more

We were frequent patrons of Hearth and Tap but went recently and did not have a good experience. Our favorite items were no longer on the menu (including braised short rib with gnocchi and roasted bone marrow). The broth for my salmon and my husband's burger were so salty that the dishes were almost inedible. The octopus appetizer was mushy . Consistently good items include their flatbreads , empanada of the day, and Mac and cheese. Service was spotty. Great service, and pretty delicious food. They also offer a lot of promotions, like a shuttle that pick you up from home and then drops you off, its a pretty great idea. They offer their own containers when you take food home, you put a deposit down and get your own Hearth and Tapco dish. read more

I was pretty disappointed with this place. Based on other reviews and the menu, I decided to try it out. They have a wide selection of flatbreads on the menu so I figured they must be known for such. However, I was very disappointed. Bread was simply doughy without flavor, not much topping versus the ratio to bread. And for the price, absolutely not worth it. We have tried this place twice and both times they disappointed. Place has great service. The wood stove pizza is delicious and they have a nice selection of beers. The rest of the menu is subpar and over priced. We ordered a panchetta and mushroom Mac and cheese and didn't realize it was 25.00 until we reviewed the bill. Twice was enough for us. read more

Food here is fantastic, really well put together menu and I have never had a bad meal food wise. Flatbreads are awesome and it's a great feature having a wood burning oven especially in winter. Well why the three stars you may ask! Well, it's the service. If you sit at a table in the non smoking bar then it's hit and miss as to whether anyone will remember you are there. If you do make eye contact with anyone then they turn and walk away. Last time I was there we had three different servers and they were all terrible. We had finished the main courses and they then brought out a salad special that should have come out prior to the mains. No one cares. They just stand around chatting, ignoring the customers and not checking in with the kitchen. This place could easily be five stars but they need the right wait staff. read more

Heart & Tap is an excellent restaurant. There's a cigar bar on one side and a regular bar on the other. Definitely one of my go to favorites. All the food is delicious, the specials are so good that they usually make it into the main menu. Their flatbread pizzas are made right in front of you with a unique wood burning oven that uses multiple types of burning wood. Fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Food was great! When we tried to retrieve our vehicle from the valet parking we stood in the freezing cold for 25 minutes. When I asked the guy when our vehicle was coming (I would have gone back inside again!) he started yelling at us that we were ridiculous. The worst service ever received. The waitress was fine it was the chef who was not accommodating at ALL! The waitress asked if we had any questions. I told her I need the meal to be gluten free and a few more sensitivities I have. The reason I came here in the first place because my previous visit was awesome, but this night, not crowded for Friday night, the chef made no accommodations. The previous visit I had octopus and steak. Friday night, I had a beet salad and steak(the same steak from the other visit). The chef would not make octopus because it was marinating in somethings I couldn't have so I ordered the beet salad. The steak was also marinated in white wine and herbs. It was disclosed but i took the risk and ate it because the chef wouldn't budge and the waitress said well there's nothing else as the chef is not willing and is too busy. I ate the steak and now I'm suffering... I would never recommend this place to anyone. Really shitty service! read more

I ordered hearth and tap this evening and it was probably my fourth or fifth time doing so. My initial order placed online through their website was at 7:30 PM... An email confirmation never came through to me so I called around 815 to confirm my order placed. Upon calling the restaurant, I was advised that my order was not received it so I placed it again... Estimated delivery time would be roughly 9:15 PM. Around 920 my order arrives ice cold with melted plastic containers no condiments or any proper cutlery. I chose not to eat ice cold food with melted plastic and call the manager, Brian, who explained had a few staff call out sick. Having worked in the hospitality industry for years, I completely acknowledge the situation and would have refunded a disappointed repeat customer. Rather, Brian just asked that next time I call him when I place an order. Call me crazy but the last thing I want to do is place a food order with somebody I have had a poor experience with. Last time I spend my money here. Had he refunded my money I may have considered a future with this restaurant. Unfortunately that wasn't the case. Order at your own risk. read more

My wife and i stopped by for a beer and to share some small plates. We ordered the farm egg flatbread which was incredible. We also had the brussel sprouts, grilled octopus and the croquettes. I ordered the braised meatball dish and the skillet mac and cheese. My dad had one of their burgers, can't remember which one, but he said he liked it. Getting back to what I ordered, the braised meatball dish is around $12 and came with only 2 meatballs. I called the restaurant back and asked if only 2 came in an orderorder, thinking somerone fouled it up. NOPE. So, there might be meatballs out there that are worth $6/ea but not at this place. Their sauce was a step up from jarred sauce. On to the skillet mac and cheese. Horrible, hardly any flavor and the portion was suited for a 5th grader, not a full grown adult. All in all, I paid roughly $24 for my entree and received 2 meatballs drowning in sub-standard sauce and roughly a cup and a half of mac and cheese. $24!!! Still had to make myself a sandwich, as this would not fill me or anyone else up with an appetite. Will not ever order from this "restaurant" ever again. read more

I'm disappointed to be writing this but I feel compelled to give this PSA. Hearth and Tap is one of our go to restaurants when my husband and I are looking for local gastropub fare in a family friendly atmosphere. We made a reservation by phone today (a Monday night) for a party of 4 adults, 2 kids in high chairs and 1 stroller at 5:30 (2 families). We were told they were able to accommodate us no problem. Our table was set with the high chairs upon arrival however we required a little more room for the stroller so we asked if that would be a problem and apologized for the inconvenience it may cause. After speaking with the other part of our party, we decided we could just use another high chair instead of the stroller to minimize the amount of space we would need. When my husband went to tell the owner/manager (not sure which role he was) of our new plan, he walked in on him talking to his hostess saying "we should move that other table by them so they don't have to deal with that bullshit." My husband responded that his comment was unnecessary and uncalled for and the manager said "sorry, but your reservation was not written down with children." However I don't know how this is possible when 2 high chairs were waiting for us at the table when we arrived. Had I known what was said about our party, we would have left before our orders were taken and taken our business elsewhere. We have always been pleased with the staff and their accommodations for us as we have one year old twins. We have even developed a rapport with a waitress that remembers us when we come in and enjoys seeing our girls. Unfortunately tonight left a bad taste in our mouth and even though yelp claims this is a kid friendly restaurant it isn't. This "pub" style restaurant has lost customers tonight and I hope that all the parents who want to enjoy a nice dinner out, at an appropriate first seating time, doesn't experience this "bullshit." read more

Ate here with my husband last night & dinner exceeded our expectations. The octopus was tender and perfectly cooked with great flavor, the tempura cauliflower was tasty and not greasy (a bit too much blue cheese for me but my husband loves blue cheese so we were split on it), and the flatbread (pineapple and bacon) made my mouth water. We both had red wine by the glass. They were good selections but they were a bit warm. The only fail of the night was the blueberry mohito which had too much mint, so much that I couldn't taste anything else. My wife and I ate there a month ago and we had a good time and the food was good. Went back tonight and the same burger we thought was so great was just another burger tonight. The best part was, i got ketchup on my shirt and asked for some club soda. No problem! Do you believe they charged me $3. When it came out with a straw I knew it was a problem. My bosses decided to take us to this restaurant for our Holiday party. Although the food was great the service was horrible! Our waiter was very kind but it was the manager on duty that day that was very rude. We had 10 people for dinner that evening. There was another large party that had reservations after us which is understandable but that meant that we would have to be kicked out of the table we were sat at. Instead of trying to accommodate us and offer us seats at the bar or even offer us another table to move to. The manger gave us dirty looks with his hands crossed across his chest and continuously gave us dirty looks. The staff was kicking us out before we could even finish our drinks we ordered. We really did enjoy the food, but the manager was so un professional and made us feel very uncomfortable that we will not be coming back to Hearth and Tap. read more

Food is awesome!!! Beef Stroganoff, Half Chicken, Brussels sprouts and flat breads were among the dishes that were fantastic!! The desserts were terrific, too, especially rice pudding and chocolate lava cake. I'm looking forward to returning!!! read more
