Modern Flames electric fireplace in place of my old unsightly wood burning one, displaying Seattle colors.
    Julien Y.

In the year since my wife and I had purchased our townhouse, our wood burning fireplace had become rather unsightly. We wanted to replace it with a modern electrical fireplace but was not sure it was even possible. When we walked into Hearthside & Home the staff immediately treated us like family. They were able to provide me with the modern electrical insert fireplace that I wanted at a price that was lower than I expected. When the stones we wanted could not be ordered, the staff went the extra mile to make us happy by giving us the acrylic crystal stones from their own display model. If you are in the market for a new fireplace we highly recommend Hearthside & Home, they are a family owned business that truly treats you like family.

We bought our free standing gas fireplace about 20 years ago and it is still going strong. Hearthside is very reliable and will make sure you're happy. Highly recommended!

They have been in business since 1977 for a reason! Approximately 20 years ago we bought a furnace from them at a home show. Believe it or not it's still working but we remodeled our hearth which required a new face plate. Unfortunately the manufacturer went out of business and I was left with a major problem. I needed to swap out an arch plate for a rectangular. I decided to call Hearthside & Home. I couldn't believe they still had all my info and the model we bought and was happy to help us. Lucky for me they have a fabrication shop and had to build me one. It took a few tries as this was difficult in getting all the measurements. It ended up being pretty tricky because of the venting and electrical. In other words it had to be exact. But they back up their work and we finally got a perfect plate! I definitely go back to them to buy a new furnace them when it's time. They are like having a friend in the business. You just can't find that anymore!

Great service, after getting three estimates from local companies we chose Hearthside & Home. They were not the cheapest or the most expensive but supporting a local family business with such expert knowledge in their product made me feel comfortable with our investment.

    Warm and cozy!

Hearthside & Home provide excellent customer service. We love our gas fireplace and use it 8 months out of the year. Our install was a bit complicated due to a unique issue with our chimney - but they problem solved until the job was done. Highly recommend!

We got our fireplace there and they were so nice and accommodating! We finished our remodel and love our bedroom/bathroom fireplace!

We bought a Kingsman gas fireplace from Hearthside & Home a little less than 2 years ago. The sales team was great we really liked the idea of a local family owned business. We have had them out 3 times to replace parts on the fireplace, the last time was mid November. The service tech did not have the parts to fix the problem and said someone would be in contact to schedule the repair once the parts were in. 2 weeks later the shop called and asked if it was OK to order the $275 part to fix the problem. I asked if that shouldn't be covered under warranty, nope the unit was only covered for a year even though the same part has failed before. Well it's now a month and a half later and as you can see by the picture, the fireplace isn't working. No call from Hearthside letting us know the part has been ordered, when the part will be in or a timeline on when it will be repaired.

They showed me how bad it was falling apart to the touch...this got the ball rolling in my head (since i do have some roof leaks from around the chimney maybe) to address the chimney. These guys (again, off the street, no truck or anything) weren't going to be who i hired. So i had 2 companies come inspect & bid (both priced the same) and i went with Ed's. Oscar is the owner, Ed's son, and he's been doing chimneys for his whole life. When the owner is actually doing the work himself (like i do) is always an "im sold" situation for me. He and his assistant were at my place, on time, at a time that worked for me, for 5 hrs/3 days. Oscar explained every detail, answered all my questions, spotted some minor leak related stuff on my roof and fixed it at no extra charge. He is VERY in tune with maintaining high customer satisfaction. He was also conscious of making sure no carbon monoxide would creep into the house. He improved upon that exact situation that a previous heating company handled in an inferior capacity. They left no mess. I'm super happy with the new chimney! i have no doubt if there is any issues in the near future, he will be on top of it.

I signed up for the annual maintenance plan to save money. He made good recommendations based on my needs and concerns of my allergies. Much appreciated! 2026 update - our heat pump stopped working and needed replacement parts. I paid for them to send a tech to diagnose it and they followed through with the work which is under the 10-year warranty. Tech, Hagen was very nice and professional and made sure to answer all of my questions. Kudos to the office staff, Brittny, Erin and everyone who took my calls while I was eagerly waiting for parts & repair. They treated me very kindly and proactively communicated each step of the way. I hope that this fix lasts a long time, or at least until we upgrade to a newer, more environmentally friendly unit.

When it stopped heating in Winter (thankfully, we have back-up propane), CM quoted us $3,200 for a thermal expansion valve (TXV) replacement. They explicitly said that while the parts were covered under warranty, the labor was not. We got a second opinion -- and while the part failed, the second company pointed out that we had a 10 year parts and labor warranty (he was easily able to get to this info, which means CM should have, too -- especially since they sold it to me). I've now called CM several times to inform them that they need to cover the repair, but I've been ghosted. I assume this is likely because they can charge a higher rate for labor on a customer-pay job than they can be paid by the warranty company and are hoping I'll go to another company, but I have no proof of that. As far as I'm concerned, they sold me the unit and the warranty -- and they can do the repair. Once the warranty is over? I'll never deal with CM again.

The secondary air tube is visibly significantly bowed, the firebricks are destroyed or missing, the ceramic baffles aren't even there anymore. I requested a fireplace inspection and chimney cleaning and got told 9am-noon. The inspector showed up at noon, took a picture up the insert with the flash on and told me it was rusty. Didn't go on the roof to inspect the chimney cap or flashing, didn't offer to scope the insert to see if it was deteriorated, didn't even turn the blower on to see if it worked. Then I pull the outside cover of the firebox off myself and find the flue isn't even attached to the firebox. Once I show him and he tells me he can put some high heat duct tape on it instead of mechanically securing it first. I explain that I'm not looking for a temporary fix and he says it will work fine, it's an old stove. At this point I just want to pay him so he can leave so I can google the obvious issues myself. If you can't physically buy $50 of chimney sweep tools and clean it yourself and would rather pay someone $400 (I talked him down to $350) to do it then go for it. If you're looking for a professional to do professional work then look elsewhere.
