Buyer Beware: He comes across like a likable guy, but he's just blowing a lot of hot air. I had three years of major home repairs due to his company's very shoddy work. When my insurance tried to get paperwork for the sale from him, they found out that he kept no records. No records, no tracking. Look him up with the BBB. He closed one company down and started one with a very similar name, because the first one had such a bad rating. Honest, he is not. Update: Today he texted me to blame me for being so revengeful. I'm sorry, what? I told the truth. I also informed him that it cost me an additional $5000 to have another HVAC company come and finally properly fix the unit. He had come several times throughout the last three years to "fix" it and could never figure out the problem. He actually tried to say it was "something about THIS house." Talk about shifting blame and not taking responsibility. FYI: there were a lot of problems with the way the unit was installed. The A/C is ancient (likely installed early in Bill Clinton's presidency!) and despite his valiant effort, it had finally just given up the ghost. I was referred to Heatleaders, Inc. by my old HVAC guy, who was leaving the business to live in the West Coast. I called Raymond to check out my boiler which was making a loud banging sound each time it started up. It was very cold blizzard like weather, I could not get anyone to look at my Williams wall heater that kept turning off. He came late in the evening the same day. One big name company would not "touch it" when they came to my home. Mr Raymond went above and beyond to find the problem from the previous repair person. I have used Heat Leaders for two repairs to my A/C and couldn't be happier. Raymond is extremely nice, easy to work with, punctual, and professional. One evening, I noticed a puddle of water on the floor beneath my furnace. I turned the air off for the night, and it got quite hot in the house. I called Raymond first thing the next morning and left a voice mail, he got back to me with in a half hour, and was at my house a few hours after that. Fixed the problem with ease and charged me a very fair price. A second time, after the tornado strength winds we recently had in Chicago, I noticed my A/C was once again not working. This time, it was not getting power to the furnace. I have a little knowledge when it comes to electrical work, but opening up a furnace with all the wiring is behind my expertise. I called Raymond and explained to him my problem. He was unable to come out to my house that day. After hearing my problem, coupled with the tornado strength winds we had the day before, he stated many people had similar issues because of power surges and other electrical problems caused by the storm. Ray is hardworking, efficient, genuine, and extremely knowledgeable. He is also pleasant to work with and makes sure that you are a satisfied customer throughout his service and even checks up after. This is my second time working with Ray and I have yet to come across an HVAC service that is even remotely close to being on par with Heatleaders. But to be fair, I also stopped looking for other services after Ray's first visit. :) And this is why... I have a two-floor townhouse plus a basement. During the summer seasons, the top floor would be 5 degrees warmer than the rest of the house because the airflow was much weaker on this floor. And during the winter, it would be 5 degrees cooler. I called all the big HVAC services in Chicago and they all told me the same thing: I would need to replace my entire furnace and get a blower that was stronger and more efficient because mine was now obsolete (14 years old so it was very easy to believe this). I received quotes that would set me back almost $10K which didn't sound too attractive since I didn't know if the new furnace would actually fix my problem. Enter Ray. I explained to Ray my problem over a couple of pleasant calls and texts and within couple days, Ray came over to diagnose the issue. Within an hour and a half, Ray had taught me about how to redirect air the most efficiently to different parts of the house using the dampers coming out of the furnace, how the expensive Home Depot air filter I was using actually restricted more airflow than the much cheaper and more effective ones he replaced it with, and how some of the AC vent covers I had also restricted airflow. 1.5 hrs. That's how long it took Ray to diagnose and fix my heating and cooling problem on the second floor...a problem this house has had for many many years now. This was over half a year ago and I'm very happy to say that I've gone through the most comfortable summers (and now winter) I've ever had in this house. I couldn't be more grateful for Ray. My second time dealing with Ray was also very memorable. I needed a new filter for my furnace and after a few text messages, Ray goes out of his way to come by, drop off a box of filters (the cost for the box was a FRACTION of the price of a box of expensive filters from Home Depot), and even replaces the old filter for me! Ray is awesome! We have a very odd heating system in our home. It has been nothing but headaches since the day we moved in. Ray came out to our home the day we called him to figure out why our Nest thermostat would not call for heat and why our boiler was turning on and off sporadically.
