I had a terrible experience with this company. The technician they sent was lazy and dishonest; he barely touched the system before recommending an unnecessary multi-thousand-dollar overhaul. He performed zero actual testing and provided no written proof of his claims, yet still demanded a service fee. Advice to others: Get a second opinion. Based on that, I'd be happy to hire again. --- There was a lot I liked about them: they responded super quickly and sent someone out and he diagnosed the issue and fixed it right away on the service call. That part was A+ But they put, what I thought, an unreasonably high markup on the parts. A $400 blower motor was marked up to $1150. (This was on top of a $550 per hour labor charge ... which I think was fair). Markups are totally normal but the amount of markup felt unusual. They came quick, and after 10-15 minutes of diagnostic work, the tech gave me 3 options: 1. change some parts for $3500. 2 year warranty 2. half rebuild, $4500. 5 year warranty 3. full rebuild, $5500. 7 year warranty I asked the technician to send me the details and I will think about what to do. The estimate came, and its $6347 to replace 9 parts. I assume this is a full rebuild with 7 year warranty but I am not sure. Got a different quote for a Lennox furnace for about the same price with: life warranty for labor. life warranty for parts. 20 year heat exchanger warranty from the manufacturer. He was helpful and gave me some pointers. I manage properties and heater was not working. The furnace blew a motor and capacitator( think that was what it was called?). I went through my trusted Yelp to find one and I put a request in and it automatically blasts it to other competing companies as well. Right away I received a call from an unknown area code thinking it was a scam call, I let it go to voicemail. The guy called right back three times, so I thought it must be important or associated with my recent Yelp request and so I finally answered it. It was this company and I spoke with Omar ( or Omr?). They didn't charge extra to come out on a weekend( I was willing to wait til Monday, but they had someone in the area already). The diagnostic fee would be waived if I did the work with them. So fine, I went with them. They found the problem and gave us three scenarios on how to approach the repair and the prices. None of them were cheap and I selected the least expensive. Good to know they would deduct the cost of the repair if later my furnace goes kaput and I need to replace it. They were efficient. Great technician, Baker,and I asked for the Yelp discount that was 20%( THANK YOU YELP!!!) off which was very helpful. It went from around 1900 plus to around around 1500. Yup that was my cheapest option -sigh. Service was 5 stars as well as everyone I encountered. Very friendly. I took off one star because I do think 500 plus dollars( think it was 550- my memory escapes me since I did this Yelp a bit later) per first hour( idk how much if it lasted more than one hour- but I would ask next time just in case so giving Yelpers a heads up)! Even though it is not my money, I was having a heart attack with the first bill of 1900( almost 2k) bill and how will I break it to the landlord gently! I thought of the Yelp discount which saved us around 400. Or so at least and brought it down to 1500. The parts of motor and capacitor was about 900. So rest was labor and taxes. Yes, we still have to pay taxes -sheesh! It was an old furnace so I was happy they just had the part even bc we know how that is going lately post-Covid! So other than the per hour charge, which is like more than a doctor makes- sheesh- we are obviously in the wrong field these days! Otherwise, everything else they did a good job.
