I have been to the hecks in Avon and from that experience I recommended it to extended family for a hope they could enjoy it just as much as I did. Sad to say my hopes were shot down. the appetizers were cold and hot (showing the lack of attention in cook times for different items since they were all hot appetizers) oh and the waitress? beckah becca or beka I am not sure how she spelled it, but just because I am a man does not mean I want to be sexualized while I'm out dining. she kept physically touching and rubbing my back while calling me pet names. if I was there with some of the guys? maybe I'd let it slide. but I was there with family and it really put a rock in my stomach and gave me a mild panic attack. everytime she came by she would find a way to have some point of contact with me and would never refill the water unless I asked. She promised the burgers would be medium but instead they came out more well/well done. the majority of the food was lacking essential seasoning (salt & pepper at the very least) in most of their dishes while some had too much salt to the point where I was forced to drink water. overheard other tables that were also not having the best time while also being served by Beccah. the decor isn't much to look at. it looked like an upscaled version of peiwei with gimmicky plates and glassware that didn't make sense with the menu. and at the end to top it all, of she begged us to leave a positive review. don't sexually assault strangers trying to enjoy a night with their loved ones 1/5 stars. go to the Avon or Ohio city location read more

Have always loved Hecks for its easy vibe plus good burgers and salads spot. Have been to the Ohio City location many times. Very happy to see the Beachwood location open this year. Went on a Sunday at 5, and it was packed, but was able to sit in the bar. Had excellent service from the bartenders and maybe a manager or two. The reviews stating no music or ambience might have been early on in the first days, because they had both happening on my visit. Bathrooms and space were clean and food was great. My mom got the salmon burger and I got Mediterranean salad and both were fresh and tasty. Good wine list and I don't get burgers but the ones I saw other people ordering looked great. Hope it stays this way. We'll be back. read more

Dining at Heck's presented a great time, with good food, and service. I don't usually eat burgers, so I planned to order the Brussels sprouts and onion rings. Our server was so lovely she began to tell us about the menu and her favorites. She was so convincing I ordered a burger with pastrami and whiskey-grilled onions. It was delicious. My husband ordered the burger with short ribs. He is a burger guy that doesn't like change, and our server got him to try the burger as is. He enjoyed his burger. Diner beware! SHRINKFLATION is on the new menu at Heack Beachwood Cafe! Heck's has always upcharged for a side of onion rings, which were the best around, but now you on get FOUR onion rings. You used to get a mess of wonderful, plump, battered onion rings, fried to perfection. Now you get four stinking onion rings. Half of mine were over fired, dried out batter, no onion. If you order the appetizer size, which gives you and your friend eight. I mean the price of onion rings has gone up, maybe .10 per ring. When I mentioned this to manager, they said, "but they are bigger.". Thats a side of bull**** with my side of onion rings. I mean even fast food restaurants are getting a taste of their greed, and are now adjusting some of their prices down. Shame on you Heck's. Seriously. this is a cheap a** move, and it's an insult to your customers. Moreover it symbolizes everything that is wrong with the shrinkflation economy. The Beachwood Heck's has a bad rap, and they have earned it with hot food served cold, orders coming out wrong, and servers who disappear, leaving you without water, left wonder what the hell is going on. So shaking people down for a skimpy portion of something like this isn't going to improve their business Maybe this all explains why on Friday, the restaurant was practically empty, the outdoor dining was empty, on a beautiful evening. Really disappointed at my service for dinner the other evening. We decided to sit at the bar and have dinner and watch the game. The bartender asked what I was drinking and I asked for a lemon drop however I asked if they squeeze their own lemons for the drink or if they use,a pre-mix or bottle juice. i was given excuse after excuse why they did not squeeze their own lemons for their drinks, and the quality of the bottled lemon juice should be sufficient for me and they didn't have time to do so. I've been to this location under the Hecks Banner, two or three times and they hardly ever busy at the bar, I imagine it's because they take the lazy out and doing their drinks and want to charge a premium. I will not be going there again. I also was disappointed that I looked at the menu online before I chose to go there only to get there and find out that they had changed their menu the prior month and had not changed it online Menu that I could eat didn't seem willing to accommodate me when I asked. At Heck's Cafe in Beachwood, it is either feast or famine but the last several visits for me have been famine. We get seated, and eventually, the server finds their way to the table. We place our order, usually burgers because when Heck's does them right, they are very, very good. But when ours arrive they are usually undercooked. A medium-well burger should be cooked through, and that is the recommendation for eating ground beef. It even says on their menu, that that is the recommendation. A medium-well burger shouldn't be rare, with all sorts of pink. Last night was virtually steak tartare. The problem is, that the cooks aren't doing what they should be doing, which is paying attention. Maybe one person at the table gets their burger cooked correctly, three others get semi-raw, and then the servers fail to follow through and ask how the meal is. The other problem is that the food runners ask "Is there anything else" and when you ask for basic condiments "I'll get that," is the response, but then they never show back up. IF you send your meal back, it can take twenty minutes before the plate returns. By then, the others are done eating. Since they take everything back, the burger may be hot, but the fries, which were not refreshed, are ice cold. The manager is always apologetic, and they can see that the meal wasn't even prepared to their basic standards. We were offered a second burger to go, which I declined. The point of going out for a treat is that you should be able to enjoy a meal with good company. Taking your meal home to eat by yourself, or in front of others isn't a good time. I understand that it is hard to find good employees, but should the owners of Heck's invested in a fancy Italian restaurant next door to their newest signature restaurant that barely gets it right consistently? I mean if you can't find the right help for Heck's, what are you going to do when you have to staff next door? read more

Just spent my anniversary dinner there. I am a little confused on why the reservation asked if the reason you are dining is a special occasion if it's not acknowledged. Speaking of which, we had a reservation but was seated in the bar area. They were working very hard and constantly busy, but waited 25 minutes for our food order to be taken. And yes, we tried to get serviced in between. Again, they were moving, but? Maybe there's still a staffing issue? The food was just ok. Drinks were strong, but order all you want at once. The service was terrible. We were there for two and a half hours (arrived at 5:30). Delays in taking order, food delivery, bring condiments, bringing plates so we could share appetizers, all plates were wet when they did arrive, clearing plates, taking dessert order, bringing desert and coffee and again bring plates for us to share the dessert. Manager stopped by to see how everything was. We complained about the service as we had been waiting more than 20 minutes for the dessert. He apologized and said he take it off out bill and go get it. It did come shortly after because he brought it. However, he forgot to tell our server to take it off the bill. The server did do so when we brought it to his attention. On our way out manager realized he hadn't taken it off our bill and apologized. Overall the food was good. One burger was overcooked according to the person who ordered it. While most of the food was good, the dessert hamburger consisting of ice cream, brownie and cookies was not good, the ice cream head started to melt, and the cookies were hard. So hard we could not break them with our hands. Thankfully, we did not have to pay for it. I have been to Heck many times over the years at the Ohio city location. I was very disappointed tonight. Hecks on Chagrin, very well, may be the worst restaurant I've ever gone. After the first meal, we swore we never go back, but friends convinced us to go who had not been there, and my wife under no circumstances will let me go back, and I agree I don't eat meat and the first time I got the veggie burger the second time I got the salmon burger and not only did I not finish either time, but the first time I was up most of the night sick, it's truly a shame because there needs to be more restaurants like what they're trying to do and they came in with a good reputation and while they may still be busy soon enough people will know how bad it really is it's a shame read more

I picked up take-out from Heck's Beachwood. My burger (cheddar, mushrooms, grilled onions) was separated from the bun, wrapped separately, so the bun didn't get soppy. Good idea. The onions were white and limp, not what I would call grilled, and the cheese was pretty sparse. The mushrooms were really good. The burger itself was cooked exactly the way I asked for (medium rare). The fries, by the time I got them home, were pretty limp and soft; I can't really blame them, though. I have yet to get crispy fries with a take-out order unless I eat them right away. No idea if there's a solution. The half-portion of salad was a good size, but it came without dressing. Pretty sure I forgot to choose one, oops. Good food, probably even better if you eat it hot in the restaurant. Service was fast and efficient. read more

Dinner party of 7 on Sept. 21st at 5:00pm. Very few diners although by 6:30 it was almost full. Dinner service was very, very slow. Excellent service at the bar was provided by Leigh (Lee). Our hostess was also professional, getting us seated and carrying drinks to our table. What wasn't excellent: short ribs dinner was actually a one rib dinner, lamb meatballs were dry and need another two spoons of sauce, calamari was thick, tough and overly oily (worst we've ever had in Cleveland), tortilla soup lacked flavor, small piece of Salmon on a very large salad, Creme Brulee tasted and had the texture more like a Flan and was served in a large shallow dish rather than a small, deep Brulee cup, there was no brownie for the Hamburger Dessert but we weren't notified until all the other desserts were served, we suggested that extra cookies be added and the dessert came back with one extra cookie, waiter did not round for 2nd drink orders or water (walked up to bar for 2nd drink), loud conversation between employees lined up to get drinks at the bar, dirty entrance runner with bits of paper, restroom with wet paper towels and TP on the floor, lacking a motion detector light in restroom (someone turned off the light and customer was left in a pitch black room), sloppy booth arrangement (benches were to far from our table for comfortable seating. Needless to say we won't be back to Heck's Beachwood. We live in Chagrin Falls but will keep driving to Avon for the best burger (Heck's Burger) in town. read more

The Potstinkers were burned in dirty grease and flavorless, but the Calamari was far worse. It was as if I'd ordered freezer-burn and Calamari, hold the Calamari. I walked in and was greeted right away. We had reservations for a birthday. Our server Brenda was excellent and very attentive. My drink was a Born This Way it was good could have been a little stronger !! We had pot stickers which were very good, calamari was okay. I had the Market Burger with a side salad it was excellent!! I probably will never be able to eat a basic burger again. It had shredded short rib yum !!! My husband had lamb meatballs he said they were light and good.
