The food was HORRIBLE. I would give a 0 if I could. I ordered scallop tacos. They had a very fishy smell, and I did not even touch them. My mom tried one, and it tasted like a clam according to her. Scallops are supposed to be fresh. We told the waiter that we will pay but the scallops where fishy, and we would not eat anything. The waiter then back talked us. Being a pescatarian, what he said was offensive. He said "It's seafood,have you had it before?" And "You waited all this time to tell me this?" We usually don't come during the weekdays so service is pretty fast and pretty good. It's a Friday night and this place is running like a chicken with its head cut off. Everyone is being courteous but service is just all over the place. As for the food... Some of the best I've had. Not sure I understand some of the bad reviews Hector's Mariscos has but having eaten there with my family 3-4 times (some lunch, some dinner), I have been impressed with the service, food, and even the value. Some of the menu items are a little pricey but you get a ton of food! Having read many bad reviews of their competitor in my area (Karina's Seafood), I have stuck with Hector's and I would recommend it. I will try Karina's soon if their reviews improve. read more

Taco Tuesdays! Even though we never have the fish tacos, they do offer them for a buck on Tuesday. The 4 stars are achieved mainly because they have a solid wait staff. They always provide good service with a smile. My oldest son loves to order their Pulpo al mojo de ajo, Octopus in garlic sauce. the other 2 have the breaded filet from the kid's menu and it's great! Last thing I ate there was the ... tuna ceviche.. it comes serves with a good amount of fresh tuna and mango and it did not disappoint. We ate saturday lunch. I ordered 7 mares(7 seas) soup. Its has a little bit of fish, shrimp, octopus, calms, crab legs and calamari. It was a 3 star soup. I have had this soup many times and this was my least fav. It was not bad but comparded to more hole in the wall mariscos it was small. The crab sucked butt. It must have been the oldest crab ever cus the meat has tiny and black. I have never seen such a thing. and there was no rice with my soup thats a first. Decent food, HORRIBLE service. Especially if its an all girl table and your server is female, prepare to get ATTITUDE and sh*t service. The other server there that day was a male and he was straight up on his cell phone while seating some customers. That was really unprofessional and wrong. The food was okay, not too flavorful. What really bothered me was the service. When I went, we were waiting for 15 minutes to get water. Didn't even see our waiter once. So I just started going here but my wife has been going here for quite a few years. Mainly we've been going for the fish tacos on Tuesdays for 1.25 and it's honestly not that bad. The service has been a hit and miss but lately it's been very good they are fast and very nice I would recommend this place if you are in the area and you are looking for a place to get fish tacos on Tuesday . Monday evening my adult son and I drove over to Hector's Mariscos for something a little different than the typical burritos, tacos, etc. We were waited on by a young man (forgot his name) who was very attentive and provided great service. I ordered the fillet of fish in garlic sauce (Pescado al mojo de ajo) and my son ordered camarones al ajillo (Garlic Shrimp?). Our dinner started with a fish soup appetizer (included with the meal) and it was DELICIOUS!! I thought to myself that if the soup is this good, then the rest of the meal would be fabulous as well. I was wrong. The garlic shrimp was very bland, it was butterflied cut and served with the shell still on and one wasn't devained as well. Now it could be that we were jaded by eating fabulous Mariscos in Mexico, especially in a restaurant call Mr. Fish (no longer exist) that made Camarones al ajillo that were out of this world. They were large shrimp, stuffed with cheese and wrapped in bacon. The ones at Hectors were just... ...OK. My fillet in garlic sauce was equally disappointing to me. I was expecting a fillet in a rich garlic and butter sauce and that's what I got. However, the garlic appeared to be the kind that you get out of a jar (it has a distinctive taste) rather then fresh garlic. The fish was cooked just right but the sauce was very disappointing. I will probably try them again but only because I loved the soup. Maybe I'll just order a large soup next time. read more

Ordered the calamari with garlic. Five minutes later, our server said that garlic is 1.50 more. We went with the lemon. The calamari was served inedible - it was deep fried so long that we couldn't bite in to it. The little pieces tasted like burned popcorn. 13 dollars for inedible food. Hector's was A-OK. I went there for brunch with my mom on Sunday. The food was pretty good, but not anything I'd rave about or go out of my way to go back for again. Came here for lunch today with my dad and siblings. We were pulled in by the outside sign for their weekend special: paella. We were seated super quickly onto the patio. Our waiter was polite but his politeness didn't take away from the fact that he didn't really check in with us too often and he wasn't that attentive. My dad asked to see if they served a special mixed drink for which the waiter said he would check with the bartender though there was no follow up for our request. Likewise, we asked again for a basket of chips before our entrees arrived but we felt the need to ask again after the entrees arrived (brought by another server) since nothing had come. Not sure if it was because we were the only people seated outside (and thus separated from other guests). I will mention though that our waiter brought out cheesecake and other staff to sing "Happy birthday" to my dad since we were eating out for his birthday--which I very much appreciated. Anyway, food-wise, portions and taste were average. We ordered a carne asada burrito, a smoked fish taco order (two tacos with rice and beans on the side), a tostada, and an order of paella. Everything but the paella seemed pretty steep on the prices. The tacos, burrito, and tostada were very comparable to local taco shops in terms of quality (if not subpar in comparison) but cost much more than their counterparts. The only outstanding item was the paella. For $13, the paella came with a soup and salad. The soup was a tomato based soup with rice and fish and the salad was a little on the acidic side from the dressing. The paella itself had chicken drumsticks, pork ribs, shrimp, octopus, mussels, clams, and scallops. I was pretty surprised at the variety of proteins featured in this dish. I've never had paella before so I can't really comment on the quality or authenticity of it here. Bottom line: would I come here again? Most likely not. read more

Realy good Mexican seafood. I have been happy with every entrée I have tried. I don't really care for the rice and beans, but I go for the fish really. The fish is good, tacos and soup.
