If you see the Hefty Gyros' fire engine red food truck about town, check them out. They serve up hefty hefty hefty portions of Mediterranean food. The menu consist of gyros, falafel, chicken, pita, hummus, salads, and fries. Did I mention the portion sizes are hefty?! They literally pile on the food. I ordered a chicken plate. Whoa. In one container they literally piled it on... rice, chicken, salad, fries, and pita with hummus spread already on it. Plus they are heavy handed with the white sauce. Sure the portions were huge. But my food was assembled like a Dagwood sandwich minus the bread, in layers. Saucy dressed layers. Not how I like to eat a non sandwich meal. But great for a gyro. The flavors were terrific though. Moist grilled chicken slices. Fries were hot n crispy for a hot minute, same with the cool crisp salad before the blend of layers of taste crept in which didn't take long. My salad got lost in the layers and I couldn't distinguish that stand alone flavor.

Flavor bomb! The staff were efficient and effective handling orders and food prep. The food truck dynamic is standard across most. The lack of prices on the side was a bit frustrating, I prefer to decide on my food based on the prices. We ordered a gyro which came chock full of ingredients. I think the unique ingredient is banana peppers! Super good. The meat and sauces were flavorful. $14 for one of these seems a bit steep to me, but for a quick and easy lunch, I'd recommend it.

Quick and kind service, definitely worth the line. Gyro Pita - 9/10 Very nicely seasoned, salty and acidic combo works well. Good amount of food, even if messy. Peppercinis add a nice amount of heat.

Hefty Gyro is my gyro! A gyro pita and a side of falafel at Food Truck Friday in Idlewild Park in Reno from a Sacramento food truck. The pita is warm and holds together the lamb meat, tzatziki sauce and fresh vegetables just fine. It was a perfect pita wrap. The falafel was not made into patties it was more freeform chunks. Some were very crispy and others near to doughy. The taste was ok but texture off. A small cup of sauce would have helped. I enjoyed the meal but the falafel has to be in patties that cook evenly. The pita is worth another visit so stop by and try it or one of the other wonderful looking items on the menu.

Hefty Gyros was one of the food trucks at my work today that comes every Friday and I finally decided to check them out for lunch. I ordered the Chicken on Rice plate which is a HEFTY amount of food - it comes with rice, chicken, a salad, pita bread, hummus and even fries! Everything was nicely seasoned and you definitely get some bang for your buck! So filling! Service was friendly and quick! I can't really comment on the ambiance as it is a food truck, but you can tell their food is fresh and there was a longer line to order than the other food trucks that were around. I love Mediterranean food and I can definitely see myself ordering from them again!

So good! That's all you need to know. Everything on their menu was amazing, but their fries? Those were the main event right there! 10/10. Had the chance to try them at a work event and I honestly wished I lived closer to their pop areas so that I can enjoy it over and over again. The staff was super friendly and had great energy even with the mass amount of people they had coming to their window. I got the fries with a combo meat option and it was so loaded up you had a good bite each time. Can't wait for another opportunity to have their food again.

Best waffle I've ever tried! He came out super quick and the staff was very nice. I tried it while I was at the winter. Wonderland and I was happy. They were tables to sit out around. Definitely change my past experiences that I have had with Mediterranean food.

Food: Loved Hefty Gyros combo style plate. Chicken, meat, veggies, tzatziki, humus, and pita. You gear a lot of bang for your buck. Easily 2 meals in 1 large plate. Flavorful and fresh sums it up. I will be back again for sure. Ambiance: Friendly and patient staff. Quick turnaround with the order. Fun environment since this was at an outside event. Definitely hit the spot on many marks. Parking: Food truck pop-up locations so there's parking all around. Always nice to go to an event and see them there.

My company used Hefty Gyros to cater our lunch on New Year's Day. Upon their arrival they had the entire site smelling AMAZING!! Most of the workplace goes to lunch at the same time, yet nobody waited longer than a few short minutes to get their food. The entitr menu was open to for us to order from. When I placed my order the gentleman was kind enough to take the time to answer all my questions about what comes on what and he even allowed me to make substitutions. I got the Gyro Pita and Special fries, which they made even more special by allowing my substitutions. Everyone was raving about their food when they arrived, and they did not disappoint!! It's just hella good. The famous hefty fries are well seasoned with a delicious mix of seasoned chicken and gyro meat with sauce and cucumber and pepperoncini - and they serve you up a generous portion. The wraps are also awesome with plenty of meat and the perfect amount of sauce and salad ingredients. Just delicious. The guy serving - Ali - was also just an absolutely awesome guy creating a great vibe with all the customers and genuinely giving great service. You will not be disappointed here. And don't forget to try the bite sized sweet nutty desserts: the sweetness is just right and they have a heavenly flakiness like the Virgin Mary's dandruff. Just superb. read more

Hubs and I were at the Drake's the Barn and decided to order our first Gyro while the truck was there. The man working the truck was very quick and nice. For $16 we got a gyro pita, some fries and a sprite. The gyro itself was okay. Kind of underwhelming honestly. There was way too much tatziki and not enough protein. The "special" fries were cool. It's just their house sauces drizzled over fries lol nothing really special about it. It wasn't the best first gyro experience since it was kind of whatever. read more

Experienced these guys last night at McConnells Estate Vineyard for a concert last night and highly enjoyed the food! Ordered the gyro platter but got the combo platter. The gyro was a bit salty and the chicken was surprisingly a bit sweet and salty. I was a bit disappointed in their chicken since it was sweet a bit, but then again I only asked for the gyro. Woild I buy from them again if I saw their good truck? Probably not. The amount given is enough and I do like how they have peppercini with the salad. Price is reasonable. The fries was good but if you are ordering fries for a kid and you want it plain, do let them know. They season the fries a little and may be a tad spicy for younger kids. read more

Heftys catered our company employee appreciation luncheon yesterday and was AMAZING! Great selection of food and all the team raved how good the food was and giant portions. The owner even packed us a few to-go boxes with the leftovers. The owner communicated and confirmed with me from the point of 1st contact. Highly recommend and will use again! Decided to try this truck at the Vallejo 4th of July "Mad Hatters Festival." There were three trucks all serving a form of Mediterranean food like shawarma or gyro on top of loaded fries. I decided on this one because the pics on the truck looked appetizing. Ordered the "Loaded Fries" with gyro meat. Also ordered a large plain fries. The service was quick, but the fries came soggy and pale and limp. The loaded fries had a ton of season salt on them, tzatziki and what appeared to be small bits of what I can only assume is previously frozen gyro meat. The fries were also soggy and pale except the parts that got coated with the season salt. For $26 I would not order from them again. 2 stars because the dude working there was hot. read more

Caught this food truck at the Folsom Premium Outlets (check Instagram for updates on the truck's location). Seemed like the hefty fries are the way to go (based on the many many pics of them here) so I got an order of those. I chose chicken as the protein (lamb is also an option). As appetizing as they look, the taste was pretty average overall. Don't get me wrong.....the chicken was super flavorful, but I wish there was more of it because the crinkle fries themselves were really bland (maybe more tzatziki sauce could've even helped). Also, the fries were a tad undercooked. Eh, for $13 I expected something a bit more. Setting aside my fries snobbery, these fries do hit the spot if you're starving. Definitely recommend sharing! Three stars for the food, but I'll throw in an extra star because the dude at the truck was very friendly. read more

First time trying them out and since I wasn't sure what to get, thought I'd play it safe and try one thing: Their hefty fries. When in doubt, always try their signature or most popular dish. Got it with chicken. Took a while for the guy to make it but it was hot, fresh, and good. A bit spicy but it's good. All the flavors were well incorporated and the chicken was moist. I give the fries a 4.5. Looking forward to try other items off their menu in the future. read more

This tried this food truck at the Marysville Bok Kai Parade and it is crazy good!! I had their Hefty Fries and regular Gyro and it didn't disappoint at all. There was so much food and talk about a taste bud explosion. The Ingredients they used were fresh and flavorful. I forgot to add that you can't enjoy the full perfection of the meal unless you get their strawberry lemonade to enjoy the entire experience. I fully intend to eat here everyone I see them. So please make sure to eat their food if you see them they won't let you down. Thank Mariah for a great food experience. read more

Wushiland Boba is my new favorite spot for boba in Sac!…read more I found out about it from a recent Feed Mei Mei YouTube video, and of course I had to check it out asap. I looked up the origin and it turns out Wushiland is a spin off from the Taiwanese boba chain 50嵐 (if you speak mandarin, it says Wushi Lan). Located on Sutterville in a tiny strip mall with minimal parking right next to the Freeport area where there are plenty of good eats, some of which are my favorite places in Sac to eat at, Wushiland is in an optimal location. Bright, clean, and with a decent amount of seating, you have the option to order from kiosks or up front at the counter. The AC was blowing cold and a nice respite from the El Niño heat. The workers are friendly and drinks are made quickly. Be advised that the drinks are voluminous, especially if you're like me and ask for less ice. Coming from someone who considers Chicha San Chen their favorite Taiwanese tea chain (but alas we don't have it in Sac), the difference in quantity is huge. Obviously if you're looking for a refined style of tea chain, Wushiland doesn't compare, but still the taste of their teas shine through and there is a good variety for everyone's palate. The first time I tried their earl grey tea because I have been craving an earl grey for a while, and that was deliciously smooth. The mini boba were so fun to chew on, and I usually prefer them over the regular size. They provide a ton of boba here as well. The next time I had their yakult green tea and that was very refreshing indeed. Both times my husband went with fruit teas, and had nice remarks to say about both of his drinks. He also tried their new QQubes and their texture was very QQ (I had a sample). We will most certainly return to Wushiland, especially since it's so accessible. Prices are standard, and honestly for the amount of tea you get, it's very worth.

My friend ordered the uji matcha latte macchiato with the mini balls, and he wanted another one to-go! The shop is a tad small and cozy(ish) since the seats and tables are close together. The theme is very colors of a bee; black and yellow. There's a long bench with cushions so it's a good place to sip and chill, and people come here to study it seems. Ive been here a few times mainly on a Saturday and all 3x it's been busy. They have 2 kiosks you can order from, or you can order from a human. Wushiland choose a good area of Sac to post up shop because it's the currently the only boba drink shop (for now) near Hollywood Park/Land Park and very close to Sac City College. They're located in the corner of a strip mall type plaza. And parking isn't too bad. Overall, good drinks for a reasonable price and service is decent. They have a fun logo, too. I would definitely come back here to try more of their drinks!

I often go to food truck events seeking out new and great food. But sometimes its hard to figure out which ones i should get food from. so how does this truck stand out from the rest? When you first see the food truck, hefty gyros, you are automatically drawn to it. first off, there truck is a bright "fire engine red" color with contrasting bright pictures that are very clear and help you get a sense of fresh mouthwatering food before you have even order. The prices are also in a nice bold font so you can easily get a sense of what you are paying and compare prices before you get up to order. And the prices are very reasonable, much cheaper than many other gyro places i have been to, and cheaper than most other food trucks. When you get up to the truck to order you are immediately greeted by there friendly staff. If you have any questions about the food they are very helpful about explaining things, and helping you choose the best dish for your specific taste. I have actually tried every item on there menu... I love them all. When you receive your order... your once again greeted with a smile... and treated to a freshly made plate of food (or gyro) that is also i great size portion for the cheap price you pay. The sauce they use in the gyros is really great and just adds the right touch of added flavor and spice. I also love the lamb and rice plate. You get a really good portion of lamb to go with your rice and salad. Was sooo excited to try their food for the first time today but was severely disappointed! I arrived 20 min after they opened at 4pm. By nearly 6pm I was still waiting in line JUST TO ORDER FOOD! They were concentrating mainly on online orders and leaving the long line of people waiting to order on the back burner. It was not fair because a lot of people were waiting in line before a lot of the online orders came in, but those online orders got their food first. The food truck should have either shut down in person orders or online orders. Because it was very clear that they could not handle both. As time went on, the crowd of online orders grew bigger and bigger. Which meant they were taking orders from my line slower and slower. It was literally only ONE order taken from my line every 12-15 min. Seeing that it would take over 2 hours for me to get my food and let alone order, I decided to leave and figure out a plan B dinner for my hungry family. I was excited for the food truck to come to my town because of the convenience. But over 2 hours for food?? I should have just driven to Falafal Guys in Yuba City. To whom it may be of use, Hefty Gyros is the best gyros i've ever had. I have had there food many times but today they finally stopped by my place of work. I tried there gyro pita with side fries at Kaiser Permanente in Elk Grove. I usually am a chicken on rice guy but i wanted to see what the hype was on the gyro. (Side Note there chicken and rice is AMAZING). As upon order the food was served in less than 2 minutes per usual. That is something I love about this truck, staff is super nice and quick. Usually when that happens at other places it comes with the cost of bad quality but the gyro and fries were amazing. They were perfectly cooked and seasoned, the gyro was at the perfect taste of tenderness. The sauce really was something otherworldly. It truly is a flavor bomb upon the first bite. The young gentlemen who helped me even added a baklava free of charge after recognizing me. All in all Hefty Gyros has always been top notch to my family and friends. Another Homerun Food truck in town: HEFTY GYROS. And Im giving them a solid and strong 4. A little different than traditional gyro where the meat is stacked and pressed on a huge skewer and cooked rotisserie style. HEFTY GYROS serves the same meats but cooked more individually instead of large skewer and thats understandable since you never know how many to expect at different locations. I ordered the biggest platter they had. 3 meats were lamb, chicken and beef. ALL were fantastic. Great taste and perfectly cooked. The tasiki sauce was mildly spicy but just right. The crew was friendly and it was cooked pretty fast. The only reason I rated it 4 Stars is because they didnt have any rice. I dont know if they forgot to bring it but it was early in the evening and Im sure they didnt run out yet. The least they could have done is lower the price a buck or two to make up for no rice. This place has a food truck that comes by where I work a lot of weekends and they are AWESOME. The guy at the window (I don't know his name, but it's always the same nice guy!) will take good care of you. So I get the pita gyro with lamb. The pita is thick and fresh, super delicious. The tzatziki sauce (cucumber yogurt sauce) is light and refreshing with a hint of sweetness that pairs really well with the slight spice of the meat. Fresh veggies finish off the gyro. Wow! The first time I ate here, I had falafel. I've tried falafel at other restaurants and it's always dry. But the falafel at Hefty Gyro was crispy and delicious outside and warm and moist inside. A puffy cloud of yumminess! The next time I went, I had a chicken gyro. This was by far the best gyro I have ever had! But the best thing about Hefty Gyro, is the people. The service here is phenomenal, the guys here take care of you quickly and in an amazing manner. I don't even get me started on the food. This will be my second time ordering the Hefty Fries and they are absolutely divine. Absolutely massive portion sizing for a great price. Hefty Gyros was a fantastic experience. They were catered for the company I work for and I have nothing but good things to say. Their customer service was absolutely amazing, very friendly and helpful. They had the food made very quickly and very fresh. What I ordered were the Hefty Fries with Gyro and Chicken mix. The fries had sriracha with another sauce and banana peppers I believe. Do not hesitate to check them out and get some fantastic food. read more

I had the ultimate (no lamb) and split the special fries. I have heard great things about them but was nervous about it not living up to it. Let me tell you it did and more. Not over priced like some food trucks can be which was a nice surprise. It was more than delicious, it amazingly satisfying with just enough kick not to over power the flavor of everything else. Outstanding! Hefty Gyros exceeded my expectations. Today their food truck was downtown and I had an opportunity to try the food. I ordered the Hefty Fries Gyros and was pleasantly surprised by the large portion served. It look amazing and tasted even better. I can honestly say Hefty Gyros is one of the best gyro places in Sacramento. I'm from the East coast, I love gyros gyro cheese fry yummm. But Hefty Gyro pitta is to die for. I've been missing my East coast food so much. The taste of hefty gyros brings it home for me it's so flavorful. I follow these guys everywhere. I LOVE LOVEEE, HEFTY GRYOS! I would buy it over and over if I could. The first time I tried their food, was on 4th of July this yr 25. I literally fell in love with their food, it tastes so good. Then I got it again at one of these music festivals this month in oct. it still tastes amazing, I was so happy to eat it again. Food is absolutely amazing!!! My personal favorite is the chicken over rice plate. The chicken is nice and tender and once I taste the rice I can stop devouring it. The salad is nice and refreshing and overall it's a delicious meal and my favorite lunch spot. 10/10 recommend. Staff is always super polite and get my food to me quickly. You can also order ahead which is perfect if you're trying to avoid the lunch rush. read more

I LOVE Hefty Gyros. They started coming to our community a couple times a week, and I'm not ashamed to say I've had them at least once a week for the past month. Tonight I ordered the specialty fries and they forgot the tzatziki sauce and sriracha. When I went back, they were more than happy to add a lot of sauce, but even gave us some baklava. Highly recommend for great food and even greater service! read more
