But in this case, I feel it's important to share. I came to this office years ago after moving to Cerritos, right before my wedding, simply looking for a new dentist and a routine cleaning. They had great reviews, which is why I trusted them. From the start, I was told I had extensive issues--multiple cavities needed to be redone and several crowns were recommended. This was surprising to me, as I've consistently gone to the dentist and had never been told I needed such drastic work. Still, I trusted their assessment. The procedures that followed were some of the most painful dental experiences I've ever had. They took hours, felt extremely aggressive, and left me in severe pain afterward--far beyond what I've ever experienced with dental work. I have a high pain tolerance, and this felt very wrong. What was most frustrating was what happened next. I returned multiple times explaining that I couldn't sleep, eat, or function due to the pain. Each time, my concerns were dismissed and attributed to things like not flossing (umm I couldn't floss because of the extreme pain), which didn't make sense given the level of pain I was in. After pushing back repeatedly--especially with my wedding just days away--I insisted something was seriously wrong and requested further evaluation. It turned out I needed three root canals as a result of their prior work. Separately, the crowns that were placed caused ongoing issues. Eating anything with texture would cause gum pain, and I noticed unusual gaps that trapped food. When I brought this up, I was told the only solution was to redo the crowns at additional cost. My crowns also came off. Later, I happened to see a different dentist at the same office (a female provider who may have been temporary), and she immediately noted that the crowns had been placed at an awkward angle. She corrected them, and since then, I've had no pain and no further issues such as crowns falling off. I ultimately switched dentists and have not needed any major dental work since--just routine cleanings every six months, with no recurring problems. Based on what I went through--particularly the aggressive treatment, the outcome, and the dismissal of my concerns--I feel it's important for others to have full context before making a decision.

Turns out my pain was due to my wisdom teeth but that's another story. I had an exam with Dr. Nguyen, he was kind and very informative. After the whole fiasco with my wisdom teeth I decided to come back to this office to start my dental journey. I scheduled a deep cleaning and I was terrified to go in. Chloe their hygienist helped me out and I had the best experience with her. She's very welcoming and makes you feel comfortable right off the bat. She's gentle and very careful! She truly made my deep cleaning experience a breeze. Although I have yet to get any other work done there, I did schedule my appointments for further treatment to better my dental health. I really do want to emphasize that if it wasn't for Chloe being great at what she does I probably would've not came back. Overall I'm glad I returned, and I hope all my visits from now on are as good as they can be so I can continue to come back!

Both were done the same day in a short 3 hour tour. The real kicker is I did not feel a thing. Both procedures were a lot easier than I expected. First up was my root canal. Once that was finished I immedidiately went into the second inning. The good old crown. After some more exrays and drilling The crown was made in house in about 30 minutes. It was absolutely beautiful. Once completed the crown was fitted, adjusted then I was done. Zero pain!! Everything is done in house. Each specialist is brought in. The entire staff is friendly. They take HMO and PPO. Thats the kicker. They take HMO. Most good dentists that offer such exceptional service wont touch HMO plans. If it makes you feel better the week before I had 2 fillings. Those were also easy peasy. Bring headphones and a fidget toy.

My mother had a consultation over a year ago and was told the office would submit a request to Medi-Cal to determine coverage. After a few months of hearing nothing, I called and was told it had been denied and would be resubmitted. A few months later, I called again and was given the same answer. Each time, I was told the office would contact us with updates, but that never happened. Instead, I had to keep calling to find out the status myself. What frustrated me most was that it took nearly a year to reach the final answer that the treatment was not covered and would need to be paid out of pocket. I completely understand that insurance approvals can be difficult and that offices are busy. I also do not mind paying out of pocket if needed. However, during that year, my mother's infection continued to worsen while we were waiting for updates that never came. My concern is not the insurance decision itself, but the lack of communication and follow-up. I hope the office can improve its tracking and accountability process so that patients are kept informed rather than having to repeatedly reach out on their own.

I usually stick with the same Hygienist for this, as I am a creature of habit. Now... my last two cleaning sessions literally broke my heart. The ladies at the desk have ALWAYS been very kind to me, but on these last two occasions, it was as if... I don't know... something PERSONAL was happening with me. First, she all but snapped at me when I walked up to the desk, and then DEMANDED that I "pay first"... like they used to do to Denny's patrons back in the day (which REALLY made me uncomfortable) so, according to her, "...we can all get OUT of there and go home!". Then, my usual Hygienist was not available, and I wish they had told me this beforehand, and some other... person... did the cleaning, to the point that I can honestly say that she was DEFINITELY UNHAPPY with me!! I didn't know that a simple cleaning can HURT so badly!!! At any rate, I don't know what it was that I did wrong, or who I made angry enough to deserve this treatment, but I can take a hint. I made an appointment here because they got on the schedule for next day! Out of pocket for teeth cleaning is $70. If you want xrays, its an additional 30. I opted not to get them because I didn't think I would need them. Dr. Park was my hygienist/Dentist. I've never had a dentist do the plaque removal and polishing before. This was the fastest cleaning I've ever had in my life. It was literally 15 minutes. lots of buffering and spitting. Tbh, it wasn't very enjoyable. I know most dentist appointments aren't. But everything hurt. Apparently, I have 4 cavities and a bunch of surface abrasions. I was quoted for restorative procedure but I'm also getting a second opinion. if you're without insurance and want a cheap and fast cleaning.. this is the spot.

Sadly with the passing of Dr. Kanemaki (Lord rest his soul) and the selling of part of his practice, practically everyone there now is new. My 1st visit there last year was because my tooth had cracked and I needed a crown. Thankfully I got 1 out of the 2 original doctors left there treated me, but all the assistance were new. When I went back for the actual crown to be put in the assistant had a hard time getting it to fit right, it took quite a while and quite a few times for her to get it in. After that visit I felt as if my crown didn't feel right but I thought it maybe because I was feeling a little soreness from the amount of tries when putting it in and it being new. Unfortunately my crown continued to not feel right and then a little aching started, and unpleasant pain when chewing. I know I needed to go get it checked out but life got busy and I just delt with it until I couldn't take it anymore. Which brings me to present day, just about 1year after the original placing of my crown. I called and they were able to see me in 2 days. When I got there, once again everyone was new to me, and upon checking in the receptionist said she didn't see that I had an appointment. I explained to her that I had called 2 days ago and was told I could be seen on this day. She proceeded to tell me that she didn't see anything down for me and that maybe I called their other office. I said no, I called the office I'm in right now. Before she could say anything another gal there in the front office (who was on a call but I'm sure she heard everything) she jumped in and said to me "It's okay Ma'am have a seat, we will see you shortly." As I was waiting I was able to observe a few of the office staff and dental assistants doing their jobs, but not one of them looked familiar. When I got called back, there were 2 assistants clearly going back and forth as to who was going to take me (pretty awkward). But thankfully the assistant Floř that I ended up with was very very nice and friendly. I had asked her which doctor I was going to be seen by and she told me Dr. Robin. I asked if the original doctor I had seen last year was available. She said no, he was no longer there that he retired. I was a little sad to hear this news. I asked for the only 1 original doctor left which is Dr. Trent Kanemaki but he wasn't working in that office that day. Unfortunately he only works in the Buena Park office 2 days a week. So I was seen by Dr.Robin, she was very nice and thoroughly explained everything that may have been going on with my crown and what needs to be done to fix the problem. I now need a root canal, she referred me to see a specialist for evaluation & CT scan before proceeding with the root canal which is normally procedure. All in all despite the fact that I need a root canal, I feel good and am satisfied with the service & experience I received from Dr.Robin and dental assistant Floř. I would have given 5 stars if it weren't for the situation upon checking in. Hopefully everything works out great for my future appointments with ALL the staff there in the Buena Park office.
