I've been persistently cleaning, brushing and flossing around my upper wisdom teeth; in an effort to save them and avoid having them removed. It finally got to the point that they were impacting my chewing molars so my Dentist referred me to Alamitos Oral Surgery in October, 2024 for a consultation. During my consultation with Dr. Pham, I explained that local anesthesia, rather than general anesthesia, was my preference. Although it was only a consultation appointment, he gave me the option to schedule the surgery for a later date or perform the surgery immediately since he had time in his schedule to do it. I was caught off guard but decided to proceed with the extraction procedure to get it over with. I'm so happy that I did. He extracted both teeth in a matter of minutes. I felt no pain and it was quick and easy. Just had to repack gauze in my mouth for a few hours afterwards. I didn't even require any pain killers or ibuprofin. I highly recommend Dr. Pham! He is awesome and so is his staff! I wish I had my wisdom teeth extracted 30+ years ago. I've never felt better! read more

I highly recommend Alamitos Oral Surgery! I got all four of my wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Pham, and he was very thorough in explaining the procedure and the aftercare associated with it. The staff at the front desk as well was extremely nice. The surgery happened in a blip since I was under anesthesia, but there were no complications with my extraction sites post-surgery. I had minimal swelling after, but I also took care to keep an ice pack on my face often and also drank a lot of pineapple juice beforehand LOL. I also had a one week follow-up checkup appointment, and Dr. Pham took a look at my extraction sites to make sure everything was fine and taught me how to flush out the holes moving forward to keep the healing areas clean. I originally went to a different oral surgery clinic, and I had a terrible experience there. The doctor only had a 1 min consultation with me before leaving the room, and the nurses rushed me into getting my wisdom teeth taken out ASAP without prior notice when I thought I was just here for a consultation only. They gave me my invoice total while I was still in the chair and asked me to approve it before getting my teeth extracted, but the total for my extractions was almost $3K which was ridiculous considering I had insurance. Turns out the surgeon wanted to add bone power (essentially a bone graft) into each extraction site to help the bone heal over, but none of it was covered by insurance and each bone graft was $500. They also had nitrous oxide as the method of anesthesia, and that wasn't covered by insurance either. I asked for a few minutes to think about it - to which the nurses asked me to hurry up since the doctor only had 15 minutes left before he had to go to his next clinic... I asked to reschedule my appointment to a later date since I felt uncomfortable with the price tag and the pushiness of the staff and left with only paying for the x-rays. I asked around some family friends as to where they got their teeth extracted, and one family friend recommended this oral surgery clinic. I voiced my (new) concerns to Dr. Pham during the initial consultation since my previous experience felt very sketchy, and he answered all of my questions with good clarity and length. He said that I won't need the bone powder and that he's seen rates of infection increase in patients who had bone grafts compared to those who didn't. Plus, for my age and procedure, he said that I will not be needing the bone powder. He also said that nitrous oxide isn't the right type of anesthesia for the procedure I'm getting, and he added that the IV anesthesia at Alamitos Oral Surgery I'll be getting will most likely be covered by insurance. My total for all four teeth after insurance ended up being less than $300! I typically don't write reviews LOL, but I figured that I would share my experience in case anyone else is in a similar situation. I highly recommend Alamitos Oral Surgery, and (God forbid) if I have a case where I need an oral surgeon later, I'll definitely come back here! My 8 year old son needed surgery to have three teeth extracted. It goes without saying that this is a very stressful situation for any parent. This review is for Dr. Heena Chandra, and the horrible experience my family had with her. In all fairness, this happened over a year ago and I should've written this sooner. I hope she's grown as a person and as a doctor since then. I took my daughter here for a consultation for oral surgery. The consult seemed fine until I asked a simple question: which drugs would be used during the surgery. I like to know the actual names of the drugs being used, rather than hearing it's "a sleepytime drug." Dr. Chandra's reaction was completely unexpected and unprofessional. She seemed uncomfortable and began making jokes about who died from overdosing on which drug: Propofol and Fentanyl...was it Michael Jackson or Prince, etc. She was laughing and even dragged her assistant into the "joke," until her assistant was laughing too. I don't find it in any way amusing that those two human beings lost their lives from overdosing on these drugs, nor was it in any way comforting to hear the DOCTOR making jokes about the drugs she'll be using on my daughter in the context of an overdose. She even handed us a little reminder sticky note that said something like: Michael Jackson - Propofol, Prince - Fentanyl. I was so shocked and uncomfortable, there was no way in hell I was going to allow this person to do anything to my daughter. I later spoke with the office manager for a refund, which I was granted. Dr. Solomon Poyourow, her partner, called me and seemed sincerely sorry for Dr. Chandra's actions and agreed he would've also been uncomfortable in the same situation. He was the doctor we were initially referred to. If you're going to this office, I recommend giving him a try. Dr. Chandra left a voicemail apology that sounded forced and insincere. She never took accountability for how egregious her statements were, she simply apologized saying she was sorry if she made us feel uncomfortable. She said she was actually trying to "lighten" the conversation with jokes about overdosing??? I apologize for the lateness of this review. I felt I still had an obligation to share our experience for anyone else who would share the same concerns. Again, I hope Dr. Chandra has grown up since our interaction. read more

I wanted to leave this review to thank Dr. Lee Pham for being my surgeon during my wisdom teeth removal. I was referred to Dr. Pham, and I could honestly say I was terrified walking into the office for my consultation. I had put off my wisdom teeth removal for so long, but my wisdom teeth were finally becoming a huge problem due to constant infections. However, upon entering the office, the receptionists were friendly, and the overall environment was very clean and calming. With Dr. Pham's kind and professional demeanor, my consultation went smoothly, and he patiently answered all my questions. During the day of my surgery, I was knocked out via anesthesia per my earlier request; there was no way anyone could convince me I was staying awake during the procedure. I was seated, Dr. Pham and his team reassured me that everything would be OK, and then I woke up groggy with 4 successfully removed wisdom teeth (2 were removed completely intact so I got to take them with me!). Dr. Pham actually reached out to me a bit after my surgery to make sure I was doing alright, which goes to show how much he cares about his patients. I had ZERO facial swelling or pain in the days following surgery, which I attribute to Dr. Pham's skill and my luck. However, I did run into a surprise bleeding issue about a week after my surgery, and I freaked out. I called the office, and the receptionist was able to squeeze me in to see Dr. Solomon. During my follow-up visit with Dr. Solomon, he was very kind and reassuring. His advice and recommendations gave me peace of mind; from there, I haven't had any issues since! Went in to get a tooth pulled due to a cracked root, tried to save tooth with a root canal before with a, good endodontist, but i had to have tooth pulled back molar #14 due to a small infection, that was coming and going. I always take care of my teeth so i needed this done. I was referred to Alamitos oral surgery from my wonderful dentist Dr. Edward Luong to see Dr. Pham, and all I can say is it was a good experience all around. I've never had to have a tooth pulled other than my wisdom teeth, and it worked out great and I'm looking forward to my new implant. My 20-year-old son had his wisdom teeth removed a few weeks ago. Generally the experience was great. They are on the Delta PPO plan, so the price was fair and they differ from many practices in that they are not doing a large number of patients constantly. While the dealings with the office staff were typical, Dr. Solomon was actually quite accommodating and fit my son's surgery into his schedule earlier when he understood my son's schedule. When I wanted to know what medications would be administered, he discussed them with me and we left with a copy of the medical notes including the rather long list of what was used. In that sense, he was forthcoming and thorough. My son had very minimal pain, which was different from the experience of his sister at a different practice, so I was impressed by that. I will say that the overnight on-call care disappointed, and I want to share my experience in case others experience something similar. My son staggered into our bedroom in the middle of the night clutching his chest with pain. He is a tough kid and we are not the type to run to the doctor for most things; however, his pain level and demeanor alarmed us. We called the overnight service, who merely noted our issues. When we did not hear back, we ended up taking our son to the emergency room. They quickly gave him an EKG and determined he was not having a heart attack (unlikely but not impossible) and then kept him for another 10 hours for various tests. It was helpful to have the surgery notes for the ER doctor. When I finally received texts from Dr. Solomon in the morning, he was of minimal help. He acknowledged that the medications might cause severe stomach pain in rare cases and suggested a stomach virus. Ultimately we think that our son was having heartburn from a combination of minimal food intake and ibuprofen (of which he took very little). All turned out well, and we are fortunate to have medical insurance that allowed us to access some very expensive medical care for a $50 ER co-payment. In the 23 years we have raised our two kids this was only our second ER visit. We are not panicky parents, but in this case I think it was the correct call to make. read more

Dr. Lee Pham is an oral surgeon and works with Monty Wilson and Sanford Ratner. We were visiting Southern California when my girlfriend got an infection in her gums due to her wisdom teeth and needed them to be removed immediately. We were referred to Dr. Ratner by my aunt and Dr. Pham was available to squeeze her in during his lunch the very same day! We arrived at the office and the office staff was very personable and friendly. They walked us through the paperwork and escorted us to the consultation room. There, we watched a short video on the wisdom tooth removal process. Dr. Pham came in to consult and examine shortly after we finished the video. He was very funny and welcoming. He thoroughly explained the process and answered any questions we had. Afterwards, another office staff sat down with us and explained payment and insurance details. After all the necessary paperwork we were escorted to the surgery room and a very nice nurse helped my girlfriend get ready for the removal and situated in the chair. They were very friendly and even brought her a blanket because she was cold! (A side note the nurse was raving about how much she enjoyed working for Dr. Pham) The surgery was very quick and only lasted about 25 minutes for all four teeth. Afterwards I met my girlfriend in the recovery room with the nurse sitting by her side. The nurse walked us through all the necessary post-op details. After that I pulled the car around and the nurse walked my girlfriend out to the parking lot and helped her get in the car. Several hours later Dr. Pham called to check up and see if everything was okay! So far the pain has been unnoticeable due to the pain meds and she doesn't have any noticeable swelling yet! (This is approximately 10 hrs after) We highly recommend Dr. Pham and his staff. We couldn't have imagined a better experience! read more

Dr. Chandra is the best!!! I got four wisdom teeth out (kind of late - in my 30s) and was quite worried about the pain. I asked for laughing gas and it was great! Pain free! And I followed her guidance post-surgery and everything went well! I was worried because I am one of those people that worry about everything... the only negative thing I could point out is that I requested a pre-treatment estimate and from what I remember, they did not give me a pre-treatment estimate before the surgery. I found out on the day of the surgery that they didn't have that done because they had the wrong social security number for me. I had called a few days before the surgery to follow-up with them about the pre-treatment estimate too... and it was too late to receive the estimate in time. Just had a tooth extraction this morning with Dr. Pham. Dental work gives me anxiety but Dr. Pham and his staff are wonderful. His assistant, Sierra, was very sweet, empathic, and really had wonderful bedside manners. She made every effort to ease my anxiety and was encouraging while I got prepared with the iv sedation, etc. I highly recommend having her in the room if you get nervous. Dr. Pham was fabulous. He answered all my questions and I like how he looked at my case from a clinical standpoint and not a financial one. For me, bone grafting was not in my best interest at the time. Perhaps in the future. He just wanted to be sure my infection was clear before moving forward. I like that since I'm a breast cancer survivor. I felt comfortable with him and had high confidence in his abilities. I highly recommend this place. I had my molar tooth removed earlier today, due to hypereruption and the surgery was performed by Dr. Heena Chandra. She is by far THEE most professional, caring, thoughtful Doctor I have ever encountered in my 36 years of living. I wasn't too thrilled to have this procedure done, but she was great with her communication; explaining in detail how the procedure was going to go. Even before the surgery, we were able to converse a little about things not related to the surgery, which helped calmed me down. Just a testament to how personable she is and how she connects with others. The one thing she did that made me realize how amazing of a person she is, was send a text message to me later that evening, checking on me and seeing how I was progressing. I have never had a doctor reach out to me after a procedure. This small gesture had such a BIG impact on me, as it meant so much. I am beyond grateful and thankful for her act of kindness. Dr. Solomon and his staff has been outstanding since day 1 when I walked in for consultation back in January. Dr. Solomon offered to take care of my extraction the day of consultation because of an infection, even though room was not prepared for surgery, and it was close to their lunch, or for me to come back another day. I took up on his kind offer and surgery and bone graft experience was fantastic! Not rushed and he even put my tooth back in as it was my front tooth, something he never does. Now months later my implant has healed beautifully . Although I paid for abutment already, something the dentist asked him to do, he recommended me to just do permanent tooth on the screw (correct term?)to save me $. Fully Refunded my money back and prices here are very fair. Dr. Solomon and the entire staff here has been outstanding with every visit. They are very empathetic to all my concerns.
