we've been here several times and excited to have more sushi nearby. the fish is excellent but I think it's just overpriced for the handrolls where they are just scooping pre-made yellow tail or tuna onto rice. Tucked into an unassuming strip mall in Mckinney is this new sushi bar. Intimate space with a casual feel, chefs at the U-shaped bar are serving up some of the freshest handrolls in town! The rice is perfectly seasoned, the nori is crisp and the quality of the fish speaks for itself -- simply delicious. Limited menu with some nice small-plate options. Kara-age was average but the Brussels sprouts were delicious. Handrolls are definitely the star items here: the nigiri sushi looked great but the prices are premium given the casual ambience. I was surprised to see a higher end sushi restaurant pop up in McKinney. The restaurant was well decorated and the wait staffs were very nice and attentive. I feel that their setup reminded me of Kyodai Handroll & Sushi Bar and the price range of their food was also similar. I tried their $80 Omakase, which was a 7 course meal that starts with a miso soup, followed by tuna/salmon sashimi appetizer, then an assorted sashimi, an assorted sushi, 2 handrolls and finally an ice cream dessert. The miso soup tasted common, but the tuna/salmon sashimi appetizer was quite enjoyable, especially after it was mixed with the sauce at the bottom. The assorted sashimi was very tasty. The assorted sushi was mostly great except the last piece that was a bit tough and chewy. I felt that I enjoyed the handrolls the most and I ordered the scallops handroll and unagi handroll. The green tea ice cream was also very good. I felt that their omakase was obviously not the best I've tried, but for the price range, it was a very enjoyable experience. read more

My fiance and I went there late last night (sunday) I felt bad for only showing up a half hour before they closed. But I am so glad we decided to check it out. I've been to many sushi places in many states, and so far this is the best sushi i've had. I only wish I had tried more. Each piece of nigiri has its own little special way that the itamae prepares for you. The yellowtail, salmon, and fatty tuna melted in your mouth, and the unagi was made to perfection. The price was a little high, which sometimes may take it down a star for me, but I mean it when I say that the price matches what you receive here. Sushi is soooo good for price! I was always too scared to try nigiri or sashimi before but Heian convinced me to try some and it was delicious. The service is great and the staff is really friendly but I will say that expect some wait in between dishes if you're going in on a weekend - especially dinner. Ambiance is a nice mix of classy but inviting enough to where you won't be imitated if you're wearing shorts or a t shirt. One thing I'll say is that portion sizes are smaller than you'd think so I preferred going there for a light lunch over a filling dinner. read more

This is my favorite sushi and hand roll place in USA!!! We went 2 weeks in a row to make sure that it was not a fluke. We have eaten at Michelin stars sushi in NY, Las Vegas, Beverly Hills and Miami- Chef Son's fishes are awesome and you will see it by their color. I consider myself an expert and could not identify the fishes. Don't let the strip mall look fool you- this is a neighborhood gem for those in McKinney. Hands down best Japanese restaurant in north DFW. The quality of the fish, rice, wasabi, and everything else we had was superb. I have lived in McKinney for almost 4 years now and I have no problem saying that this is hands down the BeST sushi around these parts for sure! SO FRESH, SO CLEAN, and I feel like I'm eating fine dining sushi for a fraction of the price. Honestly...so great! And some of the sweetest people working there also. We came with two 4 year olds and a toddler and they were so sweet. They even let the girls come behind the bar to give them hugs goodbye. Soooo nice to not feel like our kids were a burden, and our server was a gem. My husband is going to freak when he tastes this place. It must be new, because we lived right down the street from here and never have saw it till now. This will be our new date night spot! Or lunch date spot with me and my little ones.
