    Heart Hearty Country Platter

First the food was great! I ordered the hearty breakfast platter and loved the country biscuits! Also loved how much variety was in the menu. That being said, the service was very slow and the waiter seemed annoyed when we had to remind him for things we ordered. Once the food was delivered, we didn't get checked on once and had to wait a while for the check to come. The food was decent but I don't know if I'd come here again.

Our favorite pies in the Bay Area! An institution that's been here for decades (and hope it remains). Our favorites are their Mango Sour Cream, Banana Cream, and Blueberry Sour Cream (if we had to pick, this would be our number one favorite). Such a unique and delicious combination. We've had pies to go and inside, but haven't tried their regular diner food yet. Has a old timey charm.

I've only tried the pies but I thought they were really good. The most popular according to the employee was banana cream and I saw a lot of posts about the blueberry sour cream. My favorite was the blueberry. Both were delicious, light, and didn't feel super heavy. It's a good ratio of crust to pie filling. I got my slices to go. At $10 a slice (very generous sizes), I feel like the whole pie is a better deal. There's a small 4% fee if you use a credit card so I recommend cash.

Really love how flakey the crust is and the pie filling is just right not too sweet. The pie that they are famous for the blueberry yogurt one is really good. It's a great place in the bay area to have fresh Pros Nice sit down style diner. Good place for families The pie is warmed if it's a warm pie Icecream / cream can be added to the pies. Seems like a family establishment Cons Pie slices can sell out during the night. And not all pies are available

Heidi's Pies has signed a new three-year lease and is staying open, with master pie baker Victor. Its hours have not been 24/7 since Covid times. Check online and call to double check. The good pies can sell-out and lines are crazy during Thanksgiving.

I was devastate to hear that Heidi's will be closing at the end of the year. This was my one and only go to spot for pies. They have a variety and all their pies are delicious! Since I was in the area, I stopped by for some banana cream and peach pie. They're very generous with their slices so recommended to share. Staff are friendly and service is quick. Will need to make a few more trips back before they close down.

No explanation needed! Friendly staff, solid American-diner fare, and...OMG...the pie! The picture speaks for itself.

This review is strictly for the pies! My favorite is the sour cream blueberry followed by banana cream. This has been a favorite for years and we often get Heidi's pies for family gatherings. The downsides are the cost of a whole pie is now around $30 and you can't reserve pies in advance. It is strictly first come first served which often results in them selling out of the populars during the holidays. It also doesn't seem to be an efficient way to operate in this day and age. I haven't ever dined here nor have I tried any other dishes other than the pies. Four stars for the pie experience!

Service was very friendly and swift. I picked up two pies to go. The pies are the best. I remember when they were $10 each, and that price is long gone. You can get expect to pay $25 each for a pie, but the variety and quality of pies can't be beat here.

Apple pie with vanilla ice cream

$9.99 per slice of pie + $3 for vanilla ice cream add on. The price does not meet the quality of the food. The pie filling contains too much sugar syrup and not enough fruits. Everything about this pie was so mediocre. I think you can buy a healthier ingredient pie & less price at wholefoods.

Have driven by this San Mateo institution many times but didn't get a chance to check it out till now. We heard it was going to shut down so we figured we'd give it a shot. The staff/owners were all very friendly and vibes reminded me of a bygone era. Blueberry sourcream seems to be their most famous pie so we got a slice of that to try and it hit the spot. It was messy in a good way and we only wish we had little more sourcream to balance the sweetness.

Great pies - I usually get the banana crème pie. I come here sometimes with friends later at night, and it's just good vibes all around.

Ask the Community - Heidi's Pies Restaurant

Is there return deposits for pie tins?

Those days are gone. Used to get 0.25 each long ago.

    Is Heidi's pies open?

Yes. It is. They do close early on thanksgiving and run out of pies early morning.

    Is this restaurant dog friendly?

Hello William, I've never seen dogs inside Heidi's pies. Possibly they might accept a service dog? It's an indoor restaurant if that helps?

Is Heidi's back to being open 24h/day?

Not the last time I was there, about 3 months ago.

Do I need to preorder pie for Thanksgiving or can I just pick it up?

No PreOrders, it's First Come First Serve. I had to wait almost an hour for 6Pies.

How much does a whole pie cost? I can't seem to find it anywhere

    It's still $25/pie!

How much is the current price for a whole pie?

I bought a blueberry sour cream pie a few weeks ago and it was around $25.

How much are your pies? Like the entire thing?

    About $25-$26

What we ordered: Prosciutto Di Parma Arugula Pizza (+ burrata) = 100000/10 FOOD: 9/10 Served hot, fresh, and made to order, this pizza truly hit the spot. The crust had those delicious wood-fired charred bits and was the perfect thickness, not too thin, not too thick. The burrata (worth the extra charge!) was rich and creamy, while the arugula added the perfect fresh, crunchy bite. Every ingredient worked so well together. I'm literally salivating as I type this! Paired with some good wine? Chef's kiss! SERVICE: 9/10 Every staff member we interacted with struck the perfect balance of being friendly and laid-back. We sat at the bar, where the bartender also served as our waiter. He was personable, kept up a great conversation, and was attentive without ever making us feel rushed, all while mixing drinks and taking care of other guests. AMBIANCE: 9/10 Spacious, clean, and incredibly inviting. I loved the relaxed atmosphere and all the train station-inspired decor throughout the restaurant. The large windows let in so much natural light that it's an even better place to sit back and enjoy a meal. I'd happily come back the next time I'm in the area.

They are located right next to a train station. As in, the train is a few feet away from the dining area. Whenever the train stopped, it was so loud and screechy. This happened at least four times while we were having dinner. What I'm baffled by is that they have windows that can be closed, but they didn't close them. We shared four pizzas amongst five people, and it was the perfect amount of food. We got the BBQ chicken, Calabrese + honey, funghi, and Margherita pizzas. The BBQ chicken was my personal favourite, while others liked the Calabrese + honey. I thought that one just tasted like a plain pizza with tomato sauce and honey. I really liked the funghi as well as the cheese was rich. The Margherita was normal. A lot of these pizzas had bitter-tasting leaves instead of something less sharp like spinach. Each pizza was around $20-25. Service was fine.

Sit at the bar, eat something, watch 20-year-olds destroy their ACLs for my entertainment, and go home. Then I ordered the pork chop. I don't know what they're doing to this thing back there, but it was quite possibly the best pork chop I've ever had. At minimum, it's the best one I can remember, and frankly that's the only version of me qualified to write this review. Perfectly cooked, ridiculous flavor, and one of those meals where halfway through you stop watching the game and start paying attention to what you're eating. I came in for football and somehow ended up having a private moment with a pork chop. The bartender was great--friendly, attentive, but also understood the sacred relationship between a man, his dinner, and a television showing college football. The atmosphere was equally good. Relaxed, comfortable, upscale without making you feel like you need to know what fork to use. Meanwhile, behind me were two real estate guys splitting a bottle of wine that looked expensive enough that I briefly considered asking if interest rates had dropped. They ordered a couple of chicken dishes that also looked incredible. I didn't try them because apparently society still has rules about reaching over and eating food off a stranger's plate, even when you've been staring at it for several minutes. That's probably my only regret. I came in looking for a quick meal and ended up finding a place I'll absolutely come back to. Great atmosphere, excellent bartender, and a pork chop good enough that I'm now suspicious of every pork chop I've eaten before it. Definitely found my new watering hole after moving to the area.
