My experience was actually horrible & I didn't have the courage 4 years ago to be honest about what happened. When Helen did my Brazilian wax she sped through it. I checked her work before getting dressed & saw how sloppy it was. There were patches of hair all over. I decided to call her back in & you could tell she was barely able to control her anger. It was very, "how dare you?" I was scared having to sit through it a 2nd time bc that's when she pulled out the tweezers & grabbed her magnifying glass. Ooohhh girl! I felt like a dipsh** for calling her out but at the same time I knew it wasn't right to pretend I was okay with a poorly done wax job. Yuki did my facial and did a great job In a relaxing environment and made sure I was comfortable. She is a delightful person. The spa is clean and in a wonderful location about 1 block from Main Street and about 3 blocks south of Bellevue Square. This is one of bad experience i had with a spa by using groupon. I get that they receive less money for groupon client. But if you decide to make contract with them, please treat the customers equally. Ok. To give you the back ground story- i called in first. I specifically asked "i wanted to see if you have any appointment for me to go in?" She asked me "how did you find us?" I said "groupon". Then she asked me to "purchase" the groupon and give her the boucher number then call back. Well i purchased, and then call her back literally in 5sec. She asked me to give her a boucher number. I said, no i dont wanna open unless i can get an appointment today. She goes "honey, i can get you scheduled for tomorrow. We have a policy to limit number of people with groupon per day". So she just wasted my time to purchase, call back and then emotionally get angry then cancel?????????? Why would someone have to be that shady??? I am speechless. read more

I went here today for a sugaring and a pedicure. It was wonderful! Very sanitary, organized, and clear instructions for infection prevention. Cinderella performed my sugaring service and was highly professional, kind, and skilled. This was my first time getting my legs waxed. Helen's staff able to squeeze me in at the end of the day near Christmas and accommodated my schedule wonderfully. Helen herself was practical, soothing and personable. That's quite an achievement! I may not go back, but only because much of my hair grew back ingrown. This isn't Helen's fault! I remarked to her that waxing didn't seem to leave my legs perfectly smooth like shaving does. They looked hairless, but my finer hairs hadn't been taken up by the wax. Helen advised that when transitioning from shaving to waxing, because hair grows at different speeds (based on the individual follicles, maybe?), that it can take two or three waxes until hair syncs up and they all become fine or something... which I hope means they would eventually feel smooth, as well as look flawless. It was great to not have any nicks after hair removal, and the only place that hurt was definitely my knees. read more

This salon is nice, clean and quiet. I had a Brazilian sugaring with Olena and she was very sweet and professional. She made me feel very comfortable and there was zero awkwardness. The sugaring technique was a little different than I've had in the past, it was more like a waxing with heated sugar mixture and waxing strips. Previously, the ladies at different salons have only used a baIl of sugar putty and their hands. I have super sensitive skin (I had to stop waxing in general because I kept getting burns) so the treated zone is a little more sensitive than it typically is after sugaring, but nothing bad. Brazilians are not fun, but the 10 minutes of misery is worth the several miraculous weeks after! read more

I came here for a brow and chin wax and Yuki was great. She worked quickly but I'd don't feel rushed. She also gave me a chance to look at things and give feedback. Lastly this was the most full chin wax I've received! Usually people just do the bottom of the chin, but she started from the area under my bottom lip. Good facials are hard to find and after trying multiple organic facial places in Seattle area, I would say Helen wax spa is my favorite. I work with Claire and she is amazing. She customizes the facial according to my skin and talks through the entire process. They don't push products which I think is a big plus; as a customer you are not left in an awkward place. I went to Helen Wax Spa for my first-ever Brazilian Wax and a leg waxing. Helen herself ended up doing the waxing. She was extremely fast and efficient and the waxing was actually not so bad, particularly the Brazilian. She zipped through all of it and I was out of there in a flash. So why only 4 stars? She missed a bunch of hairs, and I had to go back and get it fixed, which they did free of charge. So they did a good job ensuring they provided the service I paid for, but I did have to go back, which was disappointing. read more

Really pleasant experience with this place. My specialist was Claire who was super friendly and very detailed. I was able to arrange a same day appointment for arms, shoulders, and back. She did a great job making sure she got all the missed hairs with tweezers after the wax session The wax session was quite efficient and got almost all the hairs the first time around, it was painless for me. Helen is the best wax aesthetician I have ever been to. Quick, but thorough and efficient, she does the job in 15 minutes or less. The first time I went to Helen, she made me feel completely at ease with her sweetly bawdy sense of humor. Due to some last minute scheduling changes I was unable to see my regular waxer at a different salon. I turned to yelp to try and find someone who could get me in and wow I have been really let down. Granted the waxer was not Helen, so maybe this made a difference?I suppose my first red flag should have been the fact that their schedule was wide open. I was going to count this as a PRO, but alas it is definitely not a good sign. So here's the scoop... I regularly go in for leg, brazilian, underarm, arm and eyebrow waxing. In other words I am not a newbie and I follow the pre-wax regiment. I went in to Helen's for a full leg and brazilian. Why I wouldn't go to Helen's again: -Right away when she was waxing me I had itchy/burning feeling. I looked down and noticed my legs were covered in red bumps. This has never happened to me before, and I'm not sure if I was having an allergic reaction or what. -There are patches of my skin that were completely ripped away, to the point where the skin is bright pink. Again, I've never had this happen. -I have burns in some locations from where the wax was clearly too hot. I've had this happen before, but not to this severity. -There are large, I mean the size of my palm, sections of hair that were not waxed. Not to mention numerous hairs that were long enough to be waxed, but somehow were missed. Again, I've had the missed hair or two but not entire sections. -The waxer got wax everywhere. It somehow got on my shirt, arm, etc. I guess one could chalk this up to sloppy workmanship. -She took less than 45 minutes for both the brazilian and the full leg. I would be all for a quick wax IF the work was done properly. - I've been treating my legs with tea tree oil spray and aloe. It helps, but man I am in a ton of pain... I have a patchwork of skin; some hairy parts, some no skin parts, other parts burned, and then the bumpy/rash-y parts. I would rather have the hair than what my legs look like now. In the effort of fairness I will say that the lady doing my wax seemed like a nice person and was friendly. She used tons of different sticks and waxing cloths, so I suppose they are good at keeping things clean. Prices are also on par... mine was $130, but honestly with the quality of work it is not worth it. OVERALL: I have never had such sloppy, physically painful waxing ever. This should have been an easy 4-5 week maintenance wax. Instead I look like some zombie creature and have to tend to my messed up legs/lady parts. Oof! My advice, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE for waxing or I suppose ask specifically for Helen as she is indicated to be great by other reviewers. read more

Helen is amazing! It's always easy to get an appointment and the place is very comfortable. It's very difficult for me to find someone that does my brows well but she always does an amazing job! She knows exactly how to wax them to match your face, and she is a perfectionist - not satisifed until every hair is in place. I love Helen Salon and Wax Spa. I've been going to Jessica at the Bellevue location (she's at the Belltown location in Seattle, too) and she's AMAZING! I go in on a regular basis for Brazilian and eyebrow wax. She is always very professional and the results are wonderful. I've never had any problems! Be aware that if this is your first Brazilian it will be a bit tender after the first wax - but no bleeding or red bumps! She uses a combination of soft and hard wax which helps a lot. Jessica is very friendly and fun! Her personality makes it seem like you're just chatting with an old friend. I've recently moved away from the area and I will miss Helen Wax Spa and especially Jessica! I hope people keep going to see her! When I'm in town, I'm going to do what I can to get in for an appointment. :) Other notes: The price is very reasonable, especially for maintenance waxes. Parking is easy at both locations. This review is for Helen and her Brazilian wax. It was the worst I've ever had. Not only was it super painful, it was not even a decent wax; I ended up with uneven hair in several areas. She made me wait for 20 min until I finally had someone call her to make sure she knew I was there. It looked like she was in a rush and she did not take the time that a proper wax in that sensible area deserves. I've had many Brazilian waxes and she was definitely the worst. I went in for a Brazilian a few weeks ago. Like the other reviews say, Cinderella is really great at making you feel at ease, and very professional. They also have a membership program for waxing which I'll try out! Less cost per time if you plan to go regularly. Great idea. It's a Brazilian so yeah, its not pain free. But avoid caffeine right before i find that helps, and just try to relax and breathe normally, don't hold your breath or tense up. Chit chat helps! I've never tried painkillers personally but know they work for some. Definitely recommend. read more

This review was long overdue! I had purchased a Groupon to get 3 microdermabrasions. I finished the 3 sessions a few weeks ago and had the best experience! Cinderella is awesome and she really knows what she's talking about. I would definitely recommend anyone to get their microdermabrasions here. The only reason I didn't continue here was because I had a few other microdermabrasion deals to use...but man, none of those places compare to here! I think once I'm finished with my other deals I'll be coming back to Helen Wax Spa; full priced they are a little pricey but I definitely trust them with my skin! read more

Helen is the best! I have been using Helen for waxing services for 2 years. She is by far the best waxer I have ever hade (and I have had many!!!). She gives the best sexy brow and the quickest/most painless Brazilian ever. She also does great facials. Helen's new spa is amazing. It is quaint, charming, clean and relaxing. In addition to waxing and facials, Helen has added mani and pedi services and permanent makeup. I had a pedi today with Cindy and it was the best pedi I have ever had. It included a "mask" session where I was basically given a facial mask on my legs and feet with heated booties. Helen insists on a full 45 or hour long pedi for all clients regardless of walk-ins. She is all about quality service! The other plus about this spa is that Helen uses and provides the most quality products. The facial products used for facials and the wax used are fabulous! Helen Wax Spa was the worst eyebrow wax i've EVER had!!! I called in a couple days before and it was fairly easy for me to get an appointment. I did my Yelp research prior to booking an appointment, however Helen was not available during the times I was so I decided to just go for whoever was available as I desperately needed an eyebrow wax. I got to my appointment 10 minutes early. There were no other customers so they were able to take me in earlier. Parking is available on lot, so that is definitely a plus. Anyway, the location is very clean which is another plus. As I got settled, the aesthetician was about to get started and a suddenly runs out as another customer came into the salon (this happened twice). I found it a little strange that there was no receptionist or another person greeting clients up front. When she finally took care of the other clients, she came back and got started with my eyebrow was. I specifically told her to just clean up my brows, keep the shape, and just trim them a little - she gladly agreed. She was very friendly and could keep a conversation. At the end of it all, my eyebrows were SCREWED UP!!! The right brow was nice, clean, and kept the shape. The left however was overwaxed!!! The inner portion of my brow was definitely not lined up with the sides of my nose. She practically took off about 1/4 of my brow!!! I was and still am VERY DISAPPOINTED..... With that said, I am NEVER visiting Helen Wax Spa ever again! Granted I didn't see Helen, I had high hopes for this place. I now have to wait for the weeks/months until that portion of my brow grows back again. :( read more

Before coming here for Brazilians, I went to another Bellevue-area spa... and I have to say, the differences are incredible. I have seen both Jessica and Helen and both have done a terrific job, and the pain experienced during the appointment is negligible. I saw Helen yesterday for an eyebrow wax. I called a little earlier and she told me I could just walk in. I really needed a wax and never go to people I don't know. So, I was very nervous going to a new person (who knows what they will do to you eyebrows??!!). I also have very sensitive skin. Helen was really nice, she also said she knew how I felt, going to a new salon and let me see where she put the wax before she pulled it off. Honestly, I've never had an eyebrow wax take so long. But this is a plus, because she is a perfectionist and really wants them to be perfect. She said, "You can't hide your eyebrows so I am a perfectionist!" I've been going to Helen's for about a year for her wax and sometimes facials - which are really great! I hadn't been happy with my hair color for a while and she told me I needed to go to Donnie. Now, even though I wasn't happy with my color, going to someone new always seems scarier. You know, that whole "devil you know vs. the devil you don't" thing. However, as my roots were nearly 2 inches long now, I made up my mind to try Donnie out. You see, I'm a pretty light blond and I had lived in Scottsdale where almost everyone is blond. It's easy to find someone there to do the exact color you want. In the past, I've been turned strawberry blond and for some reason, everyone wants to make me into a gold blond. It's okay but not 100% my thing. Donnie took a look at my hair, and noted the brassiness and said that I'd look better with a beigey-er blond. I was like "yup - I'm in the right place!" He also said he loved working on blond hair - and that's exactly what you want to hear when you have 3 colors in your hair. He went to work and after an hour and a half, my hair was GORGEOUS. Seriously, the best highlights and color I've had in probably years. Even how he styled my hair was beautiful. He has a magic touch and definitely knows what he's doing. And he's priced evenly with places like Gene Juarez which just means you get a better end product for what you pay for. Go, Go, Go and do not hesitate if you are a highlighted blond and are not happy with your color. And Donnie is definitely not hard on the eyes as well as just a super nice dude. I needed a cut badly, so I called up one Saturday morning and made an appointment for about 45 minutes later with a guy named Donny (Donnie? sp). It was real easy to get in there with short notice which is a big plus for me since I don't tend to have great foresight for when I need to plan things like haircuts etc. Anyway, Donny was awesome. Tall, handsome Viet guy with awesome hair - so I knew I was in good hands. I didn't really know what I wanted other than I wanted to look good for my lady, so that's what I told him and let him go to town. I walked out 30 or so minutes later with an awesome haircut, some product by his recommendation (which was totally the right stuff for me) and in a great mood PLUS wide awake because they brought me a fresh coffee and cream while I was getting trimmed. Donny was cool, easy to talk to, and def. knew how to cut mens' hair. The girls just hung out and chatted with us while he worked. They were also super friendly and polite. In all honestly, I thought that this place may be over-hyped as not very often do you see a place with 5 stars beyond the first 5-10 reviews and I am more than happy to report that I was not disappointed. Helen is very friendly and made a what is usually an awkward service into a very pleasant one. I called for a same day appointment and although she was quite booked, she still made it happen on the schedule. She did warn me that I may have to wait for a bit but it was not for more than 5-10 minutes. The environment is clean and relaxing with a friendly staff. Lastly, Helen's prices are incredibly reasonable.
