The decor is incredibly immersive, from the mushroom-shaped booths to the digital windows that show a thunderstorm happening outside every few minutes. You can also see mushroom toad people in chefs outfits cooking your food :) The menu has a massive variety with something for everyone. They have pasta, desserts, sandwiches, burgers....We tried the Mario Burger, the Luigi Chicken Sandwich, garlic knots, & fries. Unlike a lot of theme park food, everything was super flavorful, well-seasoned, and great quality for fast-casual dining~~ Plus, at around $20 per item, it's an absolute bargain compared to most places nowadays. You are 100 PERCENT going here for the aesthetics, decor, and the dining experience. Unfortunately, like most of the other food that I've tried at Universal, the quality is pretty mid and standard all the way through. Definitely make a reservation to ensure that you can speedily go in and order, grab, a seat and get your food ready ASAP so that you can enjoy the rest of your time at the theme park. You can do this through the Universal Studios app and it's pretty straightforward. There's a grace period, as with most reservations, and unlike Disney, they don't charge your card if you're a no show (at least I don't think they do). My group went during Fan Fest nights and the reservation made a faster check in than what I think usually goes on (there was a line and the restaurant was packed, but we were able to get a seat and our food in decent timing). I let the staff know that I had a reservation, was promptly instructed to go to the cashier to order, worker was super patient and friendly, got in our order, was given a buzzer, then checked in with the front of house staff to be seated at a table, food came out first and then one of our drinks that took a bit longer. Pretty seamless and they're great at accommodating their guests and making sure things run smoothly. Hands down, breathtaking experience and amazing attention to decor the entire visit. There's Chef Toad cooking in the queue, the back drop area of the cashiers was cool, and the dining room area is incredibly impressive. Each wall has panel screens showing what's going on in Mushroom Kingdom from the Toads having fun and hanging out and when the big bad swoops in and causes havoc (which I think is synced to the other screens throughout since they don't show the same scene for each one). For our visit, we got the: 1) Super Star Lemon Squash: -This is a standard honey lemon soda with mango stars and tropical boba. 2) Yoshi's Blueberry Ube Smoothie: -This is a Fan Fest limited menu item and not really a flavor I'd go for but I figure I would since it's the most unique (though thinking of it, I really should have done apple melon, but somehow it didn't click). -Very cute, comes with whipped cream on top and some flavored drizzle, a sprig of mint and it's in a Yoshi cup. -Extremely BIZARRE taste. Not sure why but it tasted like coconut (probably the ube) banana with specifically grape Nerds. Maybe it's just my taste buds. It wasn't bad, and someone at our table said it was good (another said it was gross because it was too sweet), but it's not something I would like normally so I was powering through it. 4) Super Mushroom Soup -Comes with the classic toadstool red mushroom plastic bowl and lid. They even give you a power up block to store it in and the characters you meet also use it as a point of interaction. Very cute. -I like that the soup came in it's own little aluminum container so it doesn't sauce up and stain the bowl. Very nice! -Soup has some mushroom crackers on top, resembling the red toadstool mushroom. Very cute. Decent creamy mushroom soup. Not the biggest serving but hits the spot on a chilly night. 5) Bowser's Fireball Challenge: -Heard good things about this from someone who went to the Orlando park. You can also pay an extra $10 to keep the souvenir bowl. Since it was sauced up, we asked staff and we got a completely new one in a box and in a Super Nintendo World bag. Quality customer service and glad we didn't have to wash it out. -It's a huge meatball with mozzarella cheese and mushroom marinara sauce. Bowser puff pastry on top, brings together the look and adds a bit of carbs. Definitely mix in the hot sauce and marinara together. -Simple dish, but easy to eat and the sauce went great with the fries from the Mario burger another friend ordered. And since my boyfriend was dying from the long day and the longer night ahead, he got himself a hot coffee. Standard hot black coffee but it came in a cute cup. Not the finest dining out there, but the experience alone is worth it. This is what themed dining should be like. As a consistent Disney goer, I feel like Disney tries, but it still always feels like I'm still in a theme park (even in Galaxy's Edge), so it's either the IP or the actual attention to detail and stage set that truly blew me away here. Toadstool Cafe is in Universal Studios and has a surprising amount of mushrooms but that should have been obvious by the name! They are very accommodating with modifiers when you order. Orders are taken when you arrive at the front counter, you pay and then someone seats your party. I was with a huge group. Made a reservation. They won't let you come early so don't try. The area it is in is very far from the park entrance so keep that in mind when planning. I ordered the short rib and it was awesome. Everyone loved their meals - even the picky ones. The specialty boba drink was great and unique. Very sweet and yummy. Would come here again in a heartbeat. For theme park food it is bomb! Like rainforest cafe they play a little clip on the "windows" of the restaurant every 15 minutes with thunder and stuff. Fun spot for all ages. Love the concept and interior decor. The "windows" are animated with TVs and fun to watch. I actually really love this place! It's really cute! My boyfriend got the Mario Burger which came with some fries. The burger had mushrooms (which he gave to me (: since he's not a big mushroom person) and bacon. He liked it and thought it was a decent burger. Mine was the Mario Mini Burger Adventure set which I thought was MUCH better and absolutely worth it! It was $14.99 and the burger looked the same size as his, just didn't have the bacon and mushroom. I also got fries (no ketchup though ): )along with broccoli and corn! You can book approximately two months out too! Once at the registers, place your order and any drinks you ordered will be handed to you along with a numbered buzzer. Don't forget to ask for cups of water if you'd like some as they don't have any stations inside to get any. You will take everything to another line in which they will ask how many people are in your party and when a table is available, they will seat you. Staff will place your buzzer on the table and you'll wait patiently until your food order arrives. Utensils, napkins and condiments are available at stations throughout the restaurant. Grab them while you wait for your food. This trip, the kids ordered the Mario Mini Burger Adventure Set. It's a great deal and they both could barely finish it. The kids meal comes with a cheeseburger, fries, corn on the cob, broccoli and a coin cookie for dessert. You also get to keep the figure of Mario and the flag. I ordered the Bowser's Fireball Challenge which comes with a pound of meatball topped with mozzarella cheese, mushroom marinara sauce, and a Bowser puff pastry with hot sauce on the side. I usually order the Chef Toad Short Rib Special (in my opinion the best entree here) but wanted something spicy to have with my beer. Excited I was coming to universal studios after maybe 6 months. The your ride has changed and same with super Mario world. You'd think Mario is the GOAT and gets all his stars, yet he loses stars for yet another memorable experience in not such a good way. Perhaps the food itself would compensate for the experience. I ordered a $20 salad. My friend ordered a four piece marinara and bread appetizer that resembled small mushrooms. The sauce and mushrooms come together. He also ordered a fettuccine Alfredo limited time Luigi meal. In addition, we received an order that was not ordered by us specifically, but given to us for waiting over 1 hour and 15 minutes for our food. Mamma Mia, as Mario would say and us by this painful experience. The dessert was a box with a question mark on it with tiramisu inside it. The food itself was surprisingly not bad. I was expecting an overpriced meal but I felt it was not as bad as it seems. The portions were decent and the flavors were good. However, my salad was drenched, bathed in this creamy sauce that was way too overpowering, I couldn't finish it. It had star shaped croutons and tomatoes and a giant golden starfish with eyes on it presumably a cracker of some sort. Very unique design. We also received a soda with lemon lime flavor. Our total order exceeded $70 mind you, very pricey and ridiculous. Service was atrocious in terms of wait time. 1 hour and 15 minutes to be exact and the place was not busy. This is actually strange to wait over one hour given a normal weekday. Overall, it is questionable to say whether it is worth it or not to come back, but that's a lot of wasted time to receive our meal. I got the Flower Power Spaghetti and Meatballs and it was pretty...pretty... pretty good. And it's a little bit spicy. The meatballs were a generous size. I also got the Superstar lemon squash drink and it was tasty. It has these little balls that squirt in your mouth when you bite on it. The Toad theme is fun. They have screens all around the dining area and the toads are cooking and Bowser attacks them. I made a reservation a few days in advance on the Universal app. You could enter 5 minutes before the reservation time. There's a person at the front checking your reservations. When you go inside you just line up behind a register to order. I didn't like that set up because people in front of use were taking forever and it's not like there was a lot to choose from. And then people in the other lines were getting their orders taken. They need one line and call the next person. Once you order you check in with another person to get you a table. Definitely recommend reserving a time slot in advance. A couple days or even a week in advance. This place will not allow walk-ins once they are fully booked and there's a slim chance of being put on the guest list. Experience was pretty nice with the interior having a Mario theme and Toad theme around. The lighting will change at times to darker because there is a video looping in the back with Toad village being attached by Bullet Bill. The first time I visited Super Nintendo World, I wasn't able to get a reservation at Toadstool Cafe, so I was excited to finally snag one for myself and a group of friends this time around. The menu is full of adorable, on-theme items that really add to the experience. I ordered the mushroom soup, which comes served in a collectible mushroom bowl you can take home. It was around $20, which feels a bit steep, but the soup itself was good. I'm still trying to figure out a practical use for the bowl at home. I also ordered the kids burger for $15. Unfortunately, it arrived cold--the buns weren't warmed at all, and it felt like the cheese and patty had been sitting out and were just placed together at room temperature. On the plus side, the truffle fries were really good, and I was pleasantly surprised that the meal came with steamed broccoli, which I actually enjoyed. Just a heads up, you must make a reservation on the Universal app to be placed in a queue for entry (unless the attendant is in a great mood & lets you in) . In the meantime the ambiance is a lot of fun, watching the screens of your food being made by the mushrooms LOL! The staff and the ambience of the restaurant were great. You get a meal and a show with Bowser coming in the restaurant changes from happy and cheerful to dark and gloomy and it's a battle of getting him out and it's pretty cool to watch all the food was really good. This was such a surprise! Pricing is honestly pretty reasonable for a theme park especially considering that some of the dishes include souvenir items. Our group of three had the regular Mario burger, the Yoshi fettuccine Alfredo and I had the vegetarian Mario burger. For the meat eater, my brother, the regular Mario burger was such a shock with how good and well made it was. And for someone that always adds salt he didn't add it to this one. The fettuccine was a surprise to all of us with being on the right side of dry vs too creamy and very garlicky, which for three garlic lovers was perfect. It did need a little salt, but not a lot. The Vegetarian variant of the Mario burger is an impossibly patty and no bacon, and was honestly so good I can not say that enough. The sauce was tangy and paired so well with the patty and mushrooms. If you're not into pesto and pepper from the Luigi burger, this is a must. The two burgers came with truffle fries as well, thick potato fries and decent truffle seasoning, though I still think they needed salt. The quick service aspect of this is placing your order but then you get seated and the food is brought to you. Booths aren't terribly comfortable if you're a certain size (a theme in this particular park as a whole) but the animated windows are so cute with lights that flicker during one particular part of the show. We came near the end of April on a Wednesday. I made reservations the night before. We were immediately let in to order food. There was only one party in front of us in our line. We ordered, then stood in a line that had about 6 or 7 parties in front us. Took us about 5 minutes to get a table. Overall took about 10 minutes from when we arrived to be seated! The highlight of my birthday trip to Universal Studios! Upon entry you wait in line to order your food, you are then given a number where a server will deliver it to your table. Wow... truly a fun & interactive dining experience! I loved all the food I got to try out. The Garlic Cheesy Knots were delicious with a marinara dipping sauce. The Mario Burger & fries were presented adorably & tasted amazing too! Love that you can substitute and make it vegetarian! The Rosalina cupcake was fruity & delicious, it was too much frosting for our taste but the cake itself was awesome! However the surprising highlight of the menu for me was the Super Mushroom Soup! It was savory, creamy & comforting. My best friend and I love mushrooms so we thought it was perfect, if you don't love mushrooms chances are you won't love this soup either. After this visit to Toadstool Cafe, I've learned that the best experience is had when visiting on a weekday when it's less busy! The ambience is great for Mario fans and the food is delicious, but of course, at a theme park price. I personally really enjoyed the mushroom soup despite what other reviews might say. I'm now looking forward to my next visit and trying all the other dishes they have to offer. read more

This was hands-down the worst dining experience. I hope this encourages you not to go here. We had a reservation, but it means nothing. You still have to stand in 3 lines before sitting down. First you stand in line to get to the front (about 20 minutes), then you stand in a new line to order food from super slow cashiers. Then you stand in ANOTHER and 3rd line to greet the hostess to sit you. Once we were sat, it took another 20 minutes to get our food. The total time from getting there to getting our food was over an hour. To make sit WORSE, the new Super Nintendo World at Universal does not allow you to bring in your stroller. So this was an hour of us passing off a 1-year old who was not happy, didn't want to be held, but couldn't be put down either. This is a kid restaurant and couldn't be less kid/parent friendly. The food was subpar. It cost us $96 for two chicken burgers, one kids cheeseburger and soft drinks. That is outstanding for a poor fast-food experience. What a waste of time and money when our time should be spent in the park, not waiting in line for over an hour for crappy food. read more

The interior is incredibly cute! It honestly feels like stepping into Super Nintendo World! Every dish is beautifully presented and clearly made with a lot of care. The flavors are great, though I personally found it a bit on the salty side. The portions are a bit small and slightly pricey, so you'll probably need to order a few more dishes to feel full. The staff are very friendly and took the time to explain the menu in detail, which I really appreciated. It does get extremely crowded, so I highly recommend arriving early and making a reservation right away if you want to get a table! read more

No complaints here about the Toadstool cafe. I love the look and feel inside. They have screens where you can see Toad and other Toads walking around and working. It's easy to make reservations at this place. All you have to do is go on the universal app. We usually get the Mario burger, the kids burger, and my husband recently tried the fire power spaghetti. The theming here is incredible!! You really feel like you've stepped into the Mushroom Kingdom! You order at the counter, and the super friendly staff brings the food right to your table. I also had a chance to fill up my water bottle here! We tried the Mario burger (a bacon cheeseburger). It was tasty, but nothing to write home about. The real standout was the Fire Flower spaghetti with meatballs. It was slightly spicy, with flavorful, well-seasoned meatballs that totally hit the spot. For dessert, the Block Tiramisu was solid, while the Mt. Beanpole Cake was just okay, I didn't really taste the matcha flavor in it. Well your definitely going for the ambiance here. Toadstool Cafe is super themed out. As soon as you enter the screens, chairs, menu, staff, etc. are all Toadstool approved. Which makes coming here a fun experience. Ive come a couple of times now, and the food was just meh. The Mario Burger has been the best so far. The Fire Flower Spaghetti was too spicy, the Super Mushroom Soup too expensive for soup, and the Block Tiramisu was bland. The wait is also pretty long. Even with a reservation you still have to wait once inside. The reservation just gets you in the door. Once in you still have a long line to order your food. Then another line to wait for a table. I think its worth going here once to check it out. But thats about it. Ive only gone back because other people Ive gone to the park with want to try it out. Long lines with mediocre food in a nicely themed out restaurant ... about sums it up. read more

Overall it was a pleasant experience. Yes, it was pricey. Yes, you pay for the ambiance. Yes, the food could be better, but I also went in knowing these things. The service was quick in receiving our food. The wait to place the order was about 20 minutes. The hamburgers were pretty good as was the chicken sandwich. The truffle fries were perfectly cooked! if you are here it's definitely for the vibes and fun atmosphere provided by the restaurant. got the chicken alfredo, Luigi burger, tiramisu dessert and lemon drink. - chicken alfredo 4/5: pasta was cooked fun, chicken and broccoli are always a delight. sauce is well complimented. - Luigi burger 3.5/5: burger itself lacked some flavor. bun was sort of try. chicken patty was fine. fries were super crunch and tasteful! - Tiramisu square 5/5: super creamy, not sweet, cookie adds great texture. not too much coffee taste as other similar sweets. would highly recommend Super star lemon squash 4/5: tastes like sparkling soda lemonade. popping boba was a nice addition. staff was very friendly. also note, made a reservation but staff did not even check. you order food and pay at the same time, then bring it to your table as staff directs you to it. the animation on the walls is so fun and cute, as well as all the decor inside. would definitely recommend to visit at least once while going to the park. read more
