Definitely one of those places to try for the immersive experience and not the food. Some background on maid cafes would have been helpful as well, especially with the chants / various interactions they have you do with them and more. We went for an early-ish lunch, so the options were much more limited compared to dinner. One of our friends has gone for dinner before, and that was much livelier with a much MUCH better menu option. I did take this into consideration as otherwise lunch review for a Sunday would be closer to 3 stars. From outside the cafe to inside, everything was really cute. They have a mascot, which is shown outside and in as well. Enter, and there's a wall of merch you can see and buy. There was another door in that room that takes you to the main dining area, but before it opens, they tell you a lil chant with movements to do. Pretty cool! We were then seated and given our menus. There are combinations which included a photo with a maid. We ended up getting 2 food combos (meal, drink, photo), a dessert combo (dessert, drink, photo), and a drink combo (drink, photo) to all share. The menu had a lot of options, but the food wasn't actually available (darn, was looking forward to some maid drawn omu-rice!), as it was lunch and that was a separate menu. Some items from that were unavailable, so we were super limited with what we could order re food. We ended up trying the following - Miso Salmon - lol, not great. The sides / veggies were better IMO, but they were really small portions. Chicken Teriyaki - the other 3 thought it was pretty good, and I thought it was just mid. Lack of flavor, but chicken texture was decent. Matcha Parfait Dessert Thingy - forgot the actual name of it, but it was pretty! Our maid drew on this which made it special. Taste-wise was fine. Various Drinks - I got a cold brew with tiramisu foam, and that was quite enjoyable. She drew a dog on the foam. Cute! A friend got the coffee with sea salt foam and she requested a fish be drawn. The best LOL. Another got their magic lemonade which was pretty cool! The mixing and such was fun to watch. My daughter got the oreo oat milk drink and she requested a cat to be drawn. Our maid was really nice and explained things extremely well. For the photos, she helped us with standard poses and we all left with a lil polaroid with our experience. Many of the clientele when we were there were solo male, which was what we saw in Tokyo as well. Some groups too. There were a lot of similarities with this maid cafe and the ones we visited in Tokyo, and some differences do include quality of the frequent visitor card (actual plastic card in Tokyo versus paper card here) and the photo came in a frame booklet thingy in Tokyo compared to just the photo here. Would come back for dinner to check that out though!

Such a fun experience regardless. Though I heard dinner time is more fun since there will be more "Maids". Came here for lunch and our Maid was so sweet and kind. She explained everything and even gave out food recommendations. The hospitality here is great. The ambiance is clean, bright and exceptionally friendly. Because the Maids take such good care of you, this can be a solo date. You won't feel alone. You can order drinks, food and desserts. Some of them even come in packages so you can basically get a whole combo. Some of the drinks are interactive where you get to cast a fun "spell". For extra pricing, you can request for a fun silly dance and even take Polaroid photos that you can take home for a keepsake. Overall, very fun and entertaining meal. I got the tuna melt and it was heavenly! Only thing I didn't care for was the veggies as they were welted since it was a hot sandwich. Other than that, very good flavors!

Asayoru Maid Cafe is a themed café experience that goes beyond a typical restaurant visit. We walked into a space that leans heavily into the maid café concept with a cute, playful atmosphere where the staff stay in character and create an interactive experience for guests. The interior is colorful and inviting, with themed decorations and small touches that reinforce the fantasy of stepping into a different world. It feels less like a place you visit just for a meal and more like a destination where the environment and performances are a big part of the appeal. The main draw is the experience itself. The maids are welcoming and energetic, and the interactions are what make the visit memorable. We had the chance to take themed photos, including Polaroid-style pictures that the staff decorated on the spot as part of the experience, adding a personal touch that you do not get at a standard café. The energy of the room shifts depending on the time of visit, with daytime feeling more relaxed and evenings offering a livelier, more performance-driven atmosphere. The special events and stage performances add another layer to the visit, making it feel more like an entertainment venue than a simple dining stop. The food is more of a supporting part of the visit rather than the main reason to come. The menu includes Japanese-style comfort food, desserts, and drinks, with items like omurice, chicken katsu curry, and parfaits that fit the playful theme. The omurice, in particular, is often presented with a cute design drawn in ketchup, reinforcing the interactive nature of the meal. While the food does not aim to compete with dedicated Japanese restaurants, it gives you something to enjoy while taking in the performances and interactions, and the portion sizes are reasonable for the café format. Service is where Asayoru really stands out. The staff put genuine effort into making guests feel comfortable, especially for first-time visitors who may not know what to expect from a maid café. They guide you through the menu, explain the interactive elements, and maintain the energy of the room without making it feel forced. The commitment to the theme makes the experience feel unique and memorable rather than just another themed restaurant. Asayoru Maid Cafe is worth visiting if you are looking for something different from a normal dining experience. It is best approached as an entertainment café where the atmosphere, staff interactions, and themed details are just as important as the food. Whether you go with friends or by yourself, it offers a fun introduction to maid café culture and leaves you with the sense of having experienced something that feels more like an outing than a meal.

I mostly come here for the cute performances and the parfaits. The food is meh. Maids are always sweet and funny.

You come here for the experience, not the food so make sure you lean into the vibes--otherwise, it's just not that fun. The cups and decor is minimal but cute. I liked the plates and the star cups, though the star cups are very impractical to drink out of without a straw. Honestly, the food is much too overpriced for the quality. The katsu rice was dry and tasted too instant for me. The maid service leaves much to be desired as you really just say their magic spell before you eat to make sure it is delicious. It was cute but that was the most interactive experience you get. You can take chekis (photo) with the maid which are pretty reasonably priced, but they can only accommodate (when we asked) a party of 5 in one large photo.

Asayoru is my favorite socal maid cafe and I've been to a few similarly themed maid pop ups and permanent cafes both in the LA area and in Japan and Asayoru definitely lives up to service you receive abroad. Staffing, food and outfits are where Asayoru excels. For a kitschy themed café the food is pretty decent and the parfaits are delicious. The maids are kind and entertaining, vibes are good. The only thing I would hope they improve on is decor, which is a little plain and the chairs are uncomfortable. The desk like tables, lack of sunlight and the bright overhead lighting makes you feel like you're in the waiting room of urgent care. Parking is free and there's a large lot connected to the building.

Wrote one of my most thoughtful and long reviews of Asayoru Maid Cafe, one in which I felt I addressed the decor and ambiance of the establishment, its food, and most importantly the gimmick service at play here, one of "maids" that serve food and take pictures with their patron "masters." I tried to imbue my review with a sociological commentary of the restaurant and the activity I witnessed and Yelp removed the review despite it getting many likes!?! Personally, I think someone from the management, owners, waitresses and/or devoted customers complained to get Yelp to take it down, so here is my leaner and less specific review in its place... Let it be known that an actual cosplay loving and anime devotee brought me here and that, while Asayoru was intended for people like her, the majority of patrons at lunch were men of a certain ADULT age and they were regular patrons fawning over their favorite maid-waitresses serving them expensive but subpar food, the quality of which can be found at most any 7-11 for a third of the price. (** The maid waitresses themselves apologized for the food in advance and explained the menu was being retooled so we should positively come again soon to experience the new one!) We had a traditional Japanese egg sandwich that was anything but proper and right as the ones I've had both in Japan and in restaurants about LA use the characteristically soft style milk bread and this was served in a stiff ciabatta roll that seemed old. It also lacked the characteristic flavors and seasoning of Japanese egg sandos. Our tropical drinks were fine enough, but nothing to merit their price either and the kitty kat sundae my date had was tasty enough but less so than anything procured at Baskin Robbins 31 Flavors Ice Cream Parlors. It was just cuter. Really what one comes to Asayoru for is the show, for lack of a better term. The performance by the nicely costumed and enthusiastic maids that take your orders, make you engage in chanting with them, and ultimately try to sell you "chekis," really just Polaroids with them that they mark up after they've been developed. It seems like it was designed for a younger audience, certainly not me, a man in his 50s, but the whole experience made me feel taken for the fool somewhat... and I really felt conflicted about a man in his early 30s I met at the restaurant who boasted that it was his 115 th time there, what with the thousands and thousands of dollars he must have spent on photos, merchandise, exclusive memberships they push, and the like. Asayoru played out in a manner that invoked Chippendale's or Hooters, sans nudity of course, and it really just was not my cup of tea.

Come for the Maids, not for the food. Every Maid served to perfection and made our experience so fun. We ordered the deluxe combo which came with drink, entree and dessert and a discount on the pics. The entree food was luke warm, but the desserts and drinks were good. Overall a super fun experience.

Amazing vibes! Had so much fun there and especially felt welcomed with our maid tomo and maid nyann and maid soul and the I love our service and especially the performance that we got to see with maid tomo and maid nyan. The food there was amazing as we'll definitely recommend the katsu chicken and the drinks too were amazing!!

We got the deluxe food combo with the oden udon, Santa parfait, and s'mores latte. It was cute and I got to chat with the maid about gatcha games and more. I got serviced by a nonbinary maid and they understood how I wanted be addressed in a nonbinary way. The ambiance was fun. I've never gotten to go to a maid cafe before this.

They do custom drawings on drinks really good place.

Great place and amazing service, really a Moe experience do recommend. I recommend their curry rice.

You don't need to travel to Japan to go to the closest and cutest maid cafe, you just have to take a trip to Monterey Park My sisters took me for my birthday and it's an experience that's stayed with me, I can't wait to take my daughter for hers! The egg salad sando I had was in the simple side, but the drinks and desserts were so delicious and absolutely adorable! The service is unlike any other, Maid Poyo took incredible care of us and made sure we had a sweet and memorable time. There are different entertainment options you can choose from, you will never be bored in this setting, only delighted! Check out ASAYORU Maid Cafe and I can't wait to go back next month!

When I visited I wasn't told of any sort of membership stamp card program, it wasn't until afterward when I was browsing the website that I noticed a membership tab. Is it still a thing?

Hello, yes we do! We sometimes mention it on people's second visit so guests don't feel pressured. If you're interested please mention it to your maid next time! If you have pictures from your last visit we will add the stamp too. Thank you and hope…

    Do you guys have reservations?

Yes! Please go to https://www.asayorumaidcafe.com/reserve to make your reservation

Do we need appointment or is it open anytime?

We welcome walk-ins but highly recommend making a reservation as our cafe is small and wait times can get very long!

We never liked the "entrance fee" that I obviously know about and I stand by what I said: ADULTS ARE FORCED TO ORDER THEIR SUBPAR OVERPRICED FOOD FOR ENTRY aside from the entrance fee for their kids. The SGV eats post - I wasn't talking about one post. Geraldyne has posted several times and most of those times people have chimed in with their experiences and she removed her entire posts so people won't find the comments. Once again, trust the low star ratings. If you read them, you'll see a lot of them echo what I've posted here. --- If you have a toddler or a young kid, avoid this place. Read the lower rated reviews, because those paint a more accurate picture than glowing reviews from people who got discounts to this place. Adults are forced to order a meal as an entrance fee, and all the choices are subpar and overpriced. There was only one lovely staff member, an African American woman that unfortunately seemed to have left, because everyone else were not friendly nor helpful, and are barely present. The husband who supposedly cooks the meal made the driest, toughest, inedible steak salad and I couldn't even get help with my meal because there was no staff around to help, and whenever the husband came out, he would just be zipping in and out so fast I couldn't even catch him, and I couldn't leave my daughter by herself. The food choices for kids are also subpar. The play area itself is also subpar. There's very little options to play with, and whatever is there are mostly broken toys or have missing parts. The "separate" area for younger kids are always a huge mess to the point where it's safer for a 1-2 yr old to be in the general area with how disorganized it is. It's nothing but an afterthought, and bigger kids go there to mess up that area all the time No one really goes to clean up or check the play areas periodically, so even though it's part of their "rules", you see kids throwing toys at other kids, kids leaving messes around, etc. The positive reviews about these place are probably from people who've only been there once and have had some sort of discount. As a previous repeat customer who tried to give this place multiple chances, it is nothing but a cash-grab by greedy owners who care nothing about kids. The owner, Geraldine, also loves to promote her business on Facebook groups, and even whine about lack of "support" from people, but when previous customers try to make suggestions or anything remotely resembling a valid criticism, she'll remove the post so no one sees it. It's very dishonest, and shows what kind of people run this business. There are better places to go to entertain kids in SGV, don't waste your time and money here.

The first time was back in May with a friend during a special event that had a costumed character and a pretty long line outside. I also came back recently to try their limited-time Captain Buggy dessert and stopped by about an hour before closing. The atmosphere is easily one of the biggest reasons to come here. The entire inside is decorated to look like the interior of a pirate ship, and the walls are covered with the characters' wanted posters. If you're a One Piece fan, there's a lot to look at and it definitely makes the experience more fun. Service was great both times. During the first visit, there was a long line because of the event, but the staff were still really friendly and helpful despite the crowd. The second time I came in right before closing, and the staff were still welcoming and didn't make us feel rushed. I was actually pleasantly surprised by the food and drinks. The first visit we ordered the matcha horchata, onigiri, katsu sandwich, and fried rice. Everything was better than I expected, especially considering this is more of a themed cafe experience. On my second visit, I got Captain Buggy's Carnival Crunch dessert, which actually tasted better than I was expecting! You'd think the fried PB&J uncrustable covered in fruity pebbles and topped with vanilla ice cream and sprinkles would be overwhelming, but surprisingly the flavors and textures went really well together! I'd honestly get it again. Overall, I really enjoyed both visits. The prices are pretty standard for an LA restaurant, so I didn't have any complaints there. Obviously, the biggest appeal is being a One Piece fan, but even beyond the theme, the food was solid and the staff were great. Definitely worth checking out if you're a fan of the series, especially when they have special events or limited-time menu items. I was hoping to have my own AE86 built and ready when I finally stopped by, but maybe for the new location. As an honest critique of the actual storefront, the appearance and decor is very charming. In a very bright, Japanese themed cafe kind of way. But because this is an Initial D themed drink and snack spot, I can see this being a place where mostly guys use this place as a meet-up hub. Especially for a small car meet. Very niche right? Especially for the dying breed of 1980's 1990's - 2000's JDM cars. That said, how many guys in the city could you actually get to come here regularly for soy and soy-based accessories, drinks, and snacks? The dessert was okay, and I wasn't in love with the drinks. Light, tofu refreshing, but not captivating. Personally, the menu doesn't appeal to me, since I try to avoid soy since it tends to be a pro-estrogen consumable. I don't think they had to box themselves in into being a purely tofu-only cafe. They could sell tofu products, and also have something simple but repeatedly addictive; like In-n-Out, Wurstkuche, Howling Ray's, Tea Master Matcha Cafe, Savoy, Langer's, etc. The closest idea I can think of that would be forced into tofu would be like really excellent, authentic mabo tofu, agedashi tofu, or like a karaage or Tokyo fried chicken style fried chicken with a mabo tofu dipping sauce, heavy on the ma-la flavors. Hell, I might even stop by more if they imported more car parts, from like Impulse, TRD, or Apex'i. But the way the AE86 market is, it makes more sense to sell online to the global niche. Wonderful atmosphere and mood for the Initial D/MF Ghost/Subaru to Subaru fandom. It was fun just to follow on instagram and catch a glimpse of all the influencer personalities in the car community stopping by. I'll look forward to what their next Project T(ofu) looks like. See you next time, Space (cow) boy. Oh-oh-oh. I need you babe.
