Bangers and Mash - Nicely crisped casing, fresh and well cooked vegetables ... very tasty!
    Caleb T.

This place was a lot better than I expected it to be. First off, I am not an expert on Universal Studios restaurants in anyway, shape or form. While I've been to damn near every food spot in Disneyland, Three Broomsticks was the only place we ate at within the Universal park on our visit. I assumed it would just be more about the location and ambience, an extension of Harry Potter world where people could relive their favorite scenes from the movies. And yet, the food was actually pretty good. My wife and I split a plate of their Bangers and Mash. The sausages were well seasoned, cooked well with a nice crisp to the casings. The mashed potatoes tasted and felt fresh, as opposed to something that came from a boxed or bagged mix. And the veggies were delicious, from the light char on the tomatoes, to the sweetness of the grilled onions, to the fresh crispness to the peas. All topped off with a nice, thick, and salty gravy. The real star of our visit here, however, was the warm-served Butterbeer. Sweet, salty, and frothy, it was a pretty extreme treat on multiple levels. It was kind of like drinking a cup of butterscotch pudding before it has had a chance to cool and set. More than anything else we had, I come back to wanting this closer to home. Then there's the decor. The servers and cooks are all in costume, though most don't really try to stay in or even have a character. But, the restaurant itself is decked out in thick wooden beams, wrought iron railing, stone framework, wispy lighting meant to mimic candlelight, and various bits of farming tools and hunting trophies to complete the imagery of how the Three Broomsticks is described in books. And to give it that true Potter-verse feel, there are hanging gangways and stairs that seem to lead nowhere to give that extra level of whimsy and ... well, magic. And it really does work. If and when we ever come back to Universal, this is definitely a place we'd be happy to eat at again.

Love stopping here at Universal! Went with the fish and chips! The fish was flaky and the batter was delicious! The fries were large wedges that were super good! Washed it down with the Daisy beer , one of the lighter beers they offered and it was 10/10! One of my favorite spots for sure to stop at Universal! The inside of the restaurant serves up the perfect Harry Potter esque spot with decor that matches scenes from the movies! Staff was friendly as well, the bartender was super nice and offered a really solid recommendation. Only bummer is the que outside to wait and the que inside, so plan accordingly!

Stopped in about a half hour before the park closed and ordered through mobile. It didn't seem clear at first, but a worker directed us to the pick up area where we waited about 10 minutes to get our order. The place was pretty empty, so we had our choice of where to sit. We were pleasantly surprised with how much we liked everything. The only other place we have had a scotch egg from was the Ren Fair, and this was better, not to mention cheaper. We don't know what the wait is like during the day, but definitely suggest heading there at the end of the night, before the park closes.

I've been here more than enough times but never actually wrote a review before. Let's just say I'm a repeat offender...I love this place! Honestly one of the best food places at the park. From the breakfast meals to their lunch offerings, there really has not been anything that I did not enjoy. The workers are all super friendly and just to be in the same atmosphere in the Wizarding World.....what's not to love about this place. I would love it if they created a Great Hall in the future but I think they would need a ton more space. Try and go to their Butter Beer season! So many goodies to try.

Located at universal studios inside Harry Potter world. From the entrance gate keep left. You'll see the wooden door entrance. Head inside and keep left to place order at registers. Pick up window number will be on receipt. Pick any table it's self seating. Large space but may be hard to walk through when tables are filled with guests. Food was ok but the fave was the Hot butter beer! It's a velvety hot cocoa sort of texture. This will be my first stop when visiting.

Located inside Universal Studios. Enormous portions and pretty decent food for a theme park. Love the frozen "butterbeer". My favorite thing was the ambiance and decor of the place. There is a lot of seating as well. It's a stand in line, order your food, and wait for them to call you to pick it up. Hardy meal for a long day at Universal Studios.

For Harry Potter theme, it's cool. But for everything else, meh. Wait time didn't take long. The worker taking our order was rude. He also didn't put in a food item when ordering. As for the food: Roasted Chicken Platter- Corn was better than the rest of the dish. Roasted Potatoes were greasy. The chicken breasts we're very greasy. It was pouring down my hand and arm as I was eating. Dry tasting. The lemonade was watered down. Free water better than that apparently. Overall, place was cool, food and service was not.

As a huge Harry Potter fan, dining at the Three Broomsticks felt like a dream. It was an amazing and authentically immersive experience; I literally felt like I was in a pub in Hogsmeade and all of the other guests dressed in their wizarding attire definitely contributed to the magic. Orders are taken at the register and I felt the service was great! Crystal was extremely patient with us as we tried to decide what to eat, and even recommended the Sticky Toffee Pudding for dessert. After a little wait, our order was ready at one of several pickup windows, and we were off to find a seat. There is indoor and outdoor seating, so I imagine even on their busiest day there are plenty of options open. The Bangers & Mash was absolutely delicious and I really enjoyed the savoriness of the gravy. Mashed potatoes were perfectly creamy and it was a very satisfying meal. The Herb Roast Chicken Platter also had a great portion. Surprisingly, my favorite part of this meal was the corn on the cob! Super buttery and sweet. There were two pieces of chicken, one of which was juicy and still tender. The other was a little on the drier side, but it still had great flavor. For dessert, we had the Sticky Toffee Pudding and it was truly the best bite of the afternoon. It was similar to a cinnamon roll with a nice gooey center and the cream on top was a great complement to the sweetness of the pastry. All in all, it was a delicious and highly satisfying meal at a decent price ($56 with an AP discount) for an amusement park.

I really enjoyed my meal here. The beans were flavorful, and I absolutely loved the Butterbeer waffles and the adult Butterbeer drink. Everything was delicious, and it was the perfect breakfast before heading off to enjoy the Harry Potter rides. The food, atmosphere, and experience made for a great start to our day. Highly recommend stopping by if you're visiting the park!

Decorations inside are so dope. I feel like I'm in the movie lol In general, I feel like amusement park food is notoriously mid and everyone who goes to Universal is probably going to flock to Toadstool Cafe -- which is really cute, but let's be real. Cute is the only thing it is. Now if you want a real MEAL and you want to get FULL, I feel like Three Broomsticks is the much better bang for your buck. If you go during the holidays, the holiday meal with turkey, veggies, and cranberry sauce is as good as it gets. I also had a cold butterbeer, which I was afraid was going to be sickly sweet but it was actually not as bad as I was expecting. It was refreshing actually and I drank a lot more of it than I thought I would.

We loved it here! As soon as you walk into the restaurant, it instantly reminded me of pubs in England. I was hoping they'd have some classic British pub food, and we really enjoyed the bangers and mash. While it wasn't exactly the same as what I had in England, it was still good. I probably wouldn't recommend their sticky toffee pudding though, it's obviously nothing like the real thing lol After our experience at the Toadstool Cafe, our expectations weren't very high, so this ended up being a much better experience overall. It's also a fun Harry Potter themed spot, which made the visit even more enjoyable. We'd definitely come back!

Their Bangers & Mash was on point especially the gravy - it's probably one of my favorite dishes at the park. It has sausage, mashed potatoes, roasted tomatoes, sautéed onions and cabbage, peas and gravy. It definitely fills you up for the long day at the park. My wife ordered the Herb Roast Chicken Platter which is served with corn on the cob and roasted potatoes. She loved it! It too is her favorite food at the park. As for the Sticky Toffee Pudding, ours looked off seeing other posts of it. Looks like ours was the bun and a dollop of a cream topping while others on Yelp was showing caramel and toffee bits. Sadly, it was dry too. Service was quick and the food was ready in about a 10 minutes, which wasn't bad considering it was the weekend.

Ask the Community - Three Broomsticks at Universal Studios Hollywood

How do I make a reservation?

For this restaurant, you will need to wait in line. They have the best food in the park. You can also check with guest services

Do they still have the gluten free pancakes for breakfast?

I don't believe they have breakfast at all, could be wrong though.

Is their food or baked items sold anywhere on City Walk? The apple pie is so good that I wish I could buy it without paying for admission to park.

No, all wizarding food and drink items are only sold at specific WWOHP locations inside the park.

What are the must-have foods to try here?

The chicken and the pie! All of the food was GREAT!

    How's the fish and chips?

I personally liked it. The meal came with two medium-sized pieces and a smattering of wedge fries. And, it was reasonably priced for an amusement park.

Can you eat here if don't have park ticket, if just want to eat there with friends who are at the park for the day?

No, you must have a ticket to enter the park.

Are there any new or secret menu options for 2019? We're going today and would like to know what's on the menu this year. Sometimes they change it and was wondering if they have yet or if they'll wait until Summer!! :)

I know that during the release of Fantastic Beasts 2 the dessert menu was different. They've added butterbeer ice cream too. It's spring now, and we're about to go into the April show of the Dark Arts at Hogwarts, and I heard they're doing…

Does anyone know what is on the holiday menu right now?

They have a turkey dinner and prime rib

    Any vegan options?

Yes they do actually. They have a veg plate I believe as well as salad options...just have to ask them about their salad dressings, or get it on the side. But there are plenty of vegan options :) HAVE FUN!!

    Do they accept reservations?

No, they do not accept reservations because it’s just an “order at the counter and pick up at counter” then seat yourself type of restaurant. They MIGHT take reservations for breakfast...but I’m not sure on that one, I think it might come with a…

Does Three Broomsticks offer breakfast everyday?

    Yes they do.

    Do they offer military discount?

Im not 100% positive on this but I’m pretty sure that they do. I think there are places all over the park that accept the military discount.

Do you actually have to be 9 and under to order from the children's menu?

Anyone can order from the children's menu. If the cashier makes a big deal about it just say your kid is sitting down already...

Do they really close at 5:00pm?

Yes if park closing time is 6pm. They close one hour before the park closes

What are the gluten-free options (the universal app says there are gluten-free options, but can't find indications on the menu)?

If you can click on this link it will take you to a website I found that lists the gluten-free options for the menu. :) hope this is helpful.…

Do they provide containers for leftovers to take home?

From the above answers I guess they have foil but it's a good idea to bring big ziplock bags. We always do and they come in handy for more than just left over food.

Has anyone seen the Holiday menu yet? Or Remember last year's holiday menu? What are the changes from the regular menu? Thanks!

The only addition is the English Holiday meal which is basically a turkey dinner.

Would they have anything for two granddaughters' 10th birthday?

They will give you a cake and maybe other stuff. Tell the people when you enter the park in guest services that it is her birthday and she will get a pin. Everyone working in the park will say happy birthday and you might get front of he line…

Do they have options for vegetarians? Is this a good option for a birthday dinner for a 19 year old Harry Potter fanatic?

There is one dedicated vegetarian meal called the "Sautéed Asparagus Plate" for $13. It is a lot of food, please see my posted pic. I believe they have or had a corn chowder, but not sure that didn't have chicken broth in it and I think it may be…

    Do you need a reservation?

The three broomsticks do not take reservations

They do have parking behind the building which seems to fill pretty quickly if they're busy, but it's easy to find parking around the neighborhood. I am not usually in the tavern scene so I was surprised that we had to order and pay at the bar, but it wasn't a big issue. My friend and I split the kale caesar salad and the macaroni and cheese. For the table, I ordered the waffle fries after being informed by the kind waitress that that was the better choice over the pretzel (which she also said was amazing). Since the place was filling up for the final, the kitchen was a bit slow, but we barely noticed with how attentive the staff were in getting us drinks and refills. When it came to food, we were pleasantly surprised with this place and is honestly the reason I'm writing this review. The first things we got were the Beef Tallow Waffle Fries, Caesar Salad, and mac and cheese. Obviously the fries were much better, however the salad was also divine but just swimming in dressing. Back to the fries, we all were mindblown with how tavern fries could be this good and had so many flavors. Even the skinny queens in our group kept snacking on them which tells you how good these were. Mac and cheese came and it was standard and creamy but not necessarily something I'd return for. The surprising thing on top of the fries that majority of us loved was the Vegan Tomato Scampi with shrimp. It was fire and had me questioning if it was even Vegan. Would definitely return here if I find my way back to SoCal from the Bay. Great unassuming place with great food and vibes. Their bathroom as well is super clean and nice! Love this place!

We obviously cannot help the ranting you have made and the quiz patrons feel free to not come back if you are going to falsely slander our business they way you have. Very disappointed in the amount of false statements you've made but that what Yelp is a platform for people to hide behind rather than calling an owner or manager to discuss true facts. Good luck in your future endeavors at better restaurants we obviously aren't the place for you. so kim... exactly what did I say that wasnt true? that one of my teamates won't come anymore because your ladies room is not up to cleanliness standards? that your food is wildly inconsistent? that your managers have told me that ownership doesn't give a crap about quality? Hate to break it to you but no one in the room of 60+ people was disappointed when our quizmaster told us that we wouldn't be having trivia at the crown and anchor anymore. There were even a few cheers! and we didn't miss a single trivia night because he had pre arranged to switch our wednesday night trivia to a different restaurant that although it is an even further drive for me and my team, the food is much better, completely consistent and ownership of the restaurant takes pride in the product they put out. We have been asking our quizmaster for years to find an alternative to the crown and anchor.... We go to wednesday night trivia because we love the quality of the quiz and we suffer through your food as a sort of "necessary evil" and you can accuse me of not approaching you personally when there was a problem with a meal but the fact of the matter is that I have approached your managers several times with issues (like when the iced tea had no flavor or the fries tasted like they were cooked in filthy oil or the chili breadbowl was stale) and those same managers (multiple) said that you weren't there and you didn't really care about the product the crown and anchor put out. you could have just apologized for my negative experience but instead you accused me of lying and slander. And just because you manage to stay in business doesn't mean that you are putting out good/consistent product.
