I had the number 16 extra large and it was humongous and delicious. It definitely ranks right up there with the best Pho I have ever had. The best thing about this place is that the service was friendly and the place looks really clean and hygienic. I asked them to go easy on the noodles since I didn't want to waste food and they actually remember and gave me a normal amount of noodles so that I was able to finish the entire bowl without busting my gut!:-) I also shared the table with a really nice UC Santa Cruz grad doing Med School application, I gave her my biz card in case she stops by Shanghai. Easily one of my favorite pho places. I love going here with my sisters and boyfriend, we all love it. And the owner is really friendly and loves sparking up a conversation. I always get the same style of pho, just with steak slices, but I love the broth and the noodles are cooked perfectly. However their Vietnamese sandwiches are amazing too, and the only local place I've found that sells them. No matter what I'm craving, pho, egg rolls, sandwiches, I always leave full and happy. The owner can also tell when my table is hungover and will joke around with us and give us hangover tips lol, pho always does the trick! read more

Good location. Good staff. By far, the best pho in Concord, but much better locations within a thirty minute drive. I did find a dead beetle/cockroach in the pickled jalapenos, which was gross. That and the fact that it's not the best pho in a reasonable range caused a one point deduction. Note - I feel like I have to address this every time a review a Vietnamese restaurant: You do not wait for the check to be presented to you. I'm not sure if 5 stars is entirely deserved but I'm just happy I found my pho place out here in this part of the east bay. It's among the top two places I've been for pho. The interior is decent looking and clean (more than can be said of so many pho places lol) and the waitress was very nice. The broth tastes really good on its own and has more character than more standard broths (sorry Kevin's Noodle House). Less oily and less of that slightly over-salty semi-chemically MSG taste than a standard pho spot. Also living in Walnut Creek I've gotten in the habit of saying "expect quality, but not value." The XL was a nice big bowl with a lot of noodles for $8.75 which is actually comparable or less than what I'm used to paying in Davis and Campbell. Can't complaint. They have MSG free vegetarian soup. The soup is always made fresh to order and there is no doubt the veggies are fresh. They are still crunchy -- not soggy -- when you Pho arrives. Fresh spring rolls with Tofu are awesome -- and they too are fresh. In fact, the Tofu is usually still hot inside the roll when it arrives. The Pho comes with a large dish of sprouts, cilantro, lime, and basil. Service has always been friendly (well, we had one snaffoo but the owner corrected it and made it right so I won't mention anymore about it.) I keep driving out of the way just to come here. My wife and I got the chicken and pork Bahn Mi. This place is now one of our favorite Bahn Mi spots.

Came here for lunch with coworkers . Great home cooked meals but the service is slow. Small place, maybe accommodates only 20-25 people total. Even though the service is slow, the food is really good so I will definitely come back. Writing a review after the second time coming here. The first time I believe I got white rice with grilled shrimp, simple dish. The second, I tried the beef Pho. I used to dislike pho but I have to say it's the best i've had so far. The beef was nice and thin which made it easy to eat (I hate when it's thick and chewy at other places). The atmosphere is great, nice and clean. NOT busy at all which i LOVE because I hate being in a crowded place while trying to enjoy my meal. The only downside of this place is the service, employee's aren't very friendly (but most asian restaurants don't have friendly workers- in my experience anyways) so I don't hold it against them too much. Great authentic Vietnamese food tucked away in a little strip mall. Other than driving all the way to San Jose, this is close enough. I had their Han Noi style vermicelli and it was delicious. Just had a nice meal here. Yes, it is a small place, yes it is in a strip mall, but the place is clean, the pho is great, & the staff are wonderful! Quick & friendly service, but we did not feel like we were rushed at all, and it wasn't "too quick," (i.e. I felt that all of the food was prepared to order). The best part (for me) is the tofu & vegetable pho! ON the menu- I didn't have to ask for it to be specially made! It was exactly the way I like it- tofu is fried to give it a nice texture, rather than the big mushy chunks I typically get. There are actual vegetables: broccoli, carrots, celery, greens- I get so sick of pho where the "vegetables" are just huge unappetizing chunks of bok choi or cabbage. AND the menu offers a choice of broth- including vegetarian (can't say if it is good- I like the regular beef pho broth with my otherwise veggie pho- it was flavorful & not greasy- another win!) Veggie fresh rolls were good, BF enjoyed his enormous bowl of beef pho, and the lemonade was tasty & not too sweet. This is my new pho place! read more

This place has amazing pho & amazing customer service. I ordered a chicken pho & ate is so fast that my husky self was not able to take a decent photo, sorry folks. Lol From the onset you can tell that people who come to this establishment not only come for the food, but come for the service. With so many good yelp reviews - I thought I'd give this place a try. And was sadly disappointed. I love a good fancy meal - but I have nothing against a cheap dirty meal in a strip mall. I was looking forward to this. I ordered a Thai iced tea, fried spring rolls, and pho tai gan - pho with raw thinley sliced beef and tendon. I grew up eating pho in Oakland so my standards are pretty high. To my dismay this place fell short. I like the tendon to be a big, floppy, chewy gelatinous deliciousness. This tendon was thin and disintegrated into the soup. The soup didn't have very much flavor so it didn't do much to the barely-there tendon. The thinly sliced beef was extremely small too - thin is expected, but they were size of quarters rather than silver dollars. The fried egg rolls didn't seem right - the meat seemed a little bit off. And that nuoc mam dipping sauce even seemed a little bit off - not dilute enough. And even the Thai iced tea was way too sweet for me. I had to keep diluting it with the glass of water. The best part was the staff was very nice and when I got the rest of my off-putting egg rolls in a to go box, they included a small container for the sub par sauce. My boyfriend said this place gave him the LA feel in restaurants for how spacious and well lit this place is, which I think it's cute for their money tree to be displayed there at the counter. Lol. The service looked like it was ran by a family. A young man served who was attentive, very nice, and welcoming. I saw there was a middle aged lady working in the back probably washing dishes or cooking. A girl sat at a table right across from us finished eating, talked to the guy who served us and she carried her bowls and plates to the back which surprised me because I thought she was a customer. Lol. She sat back at the table, coming from the kitchen, and since the only customers were my table and two others, the middle aged lady from the back came to sit with the girl and decide to have a chill conversation. They weren't slacking as a staff just if you are wondering, there weren't a lot of customers so it was cool to see them sit down. Once another new customer came in they'd jump up to go to the back & work again. After every customer was attended properly, the guy served himself some pho but occasionally left & came back to it to attend customers who wanted to ask for him again for an extra fork or something. Loved their service overall, very cute family, too (if they are one because this is based on assumption). We ordered a Vietnamese Sandwich w/ Pork, Combo Pho & Vietnamese Iced Coffee. Sandwich's price was reasonable for its size. I wished it had more ingredients inside, and a bigger sandwich size. Other than that, the flavor was good, and the bread is well-baked & crispy. As someone who can't handle spiciness, my half of the sandwich (which I shared with my boyfriend) had one pepper slice and he had 2 or 3, which isn't quite bad as I thought it would be. It had a few kicks and I only sipped some tea twice to cool it down. My boyfriend thought the pho was bomb and was the greatest pho ever in his life. We had take out for the rest of the pho we couldn't finish for his mom to try out and she didn't like it cuz she said she tasted better and her mouth was dry afterwards (which means she thinks she detects MSG being put into the pho which idk if that's true or not). I thought the pho was okay but not savory enough, and we ordered the Large size for $8.00 (Small was for $7.00 & X-Large was for $9.00). I saw other yelp picture and they had A LOT of meatballs which I was expecting to get but we had 2 or 4, which made me cry inside because I would like a meatier pho which is why I got the combo! There wasn't that many ingredients as other places would give so I wouldn't get a pho at this place again. The Vietnamese Iced Coffee tastes great, but there wasn't much since the ice filled the rest of it from top to bottom. I have only had the ban mih and the spring rools so I cant comment on the soups and other items. I ordered the spring rolls, honestly I could find any shrimp in them. I ordered the beef ban mih again very VERY stingy on the beef. I would imagine they can make 100 sandwiches out of a pound of rib eye. The price is cheap and there's a reason why. The service can be painfully slow, expect to wait and wait. We waited 25 minutes for 2 ban mih and an order of spring rolls. read more

The pho here is good. Unfortunately i found a wrapper in my water but the server quickly replaced it with a new one. I ordered a beef noodle soup with thin steak and it was actually really good. I don't like to write bad reviews for a small business like this but the quality needs to be improved. My wife and I orders dumplings, beef stew, and beef curry. The dumplings looked great but didn't taste very good. After two bites we decided not to eat anymore. The beef in both dishes was gross. We ended up picking it all out. There were barely any veggies in either dish and the taste was lacking. Maybe we ordered wrong, but we will not try again, and do not recommend. read more

Me and my friend both got food poisoning here. The pho was not hot enough to kill the bacteria. It tasted old and the soup was not steaming hot like most other pho places. The onions were dissolved and mushy, another indicator that they served us old soup. The basil was going bad. The fruit in the front in those cups was going bad. The pineapple was brown and really pale yellow. The lady that helps waitress was staring at me and pointing while talking and laughing with another woman who works there, even while making eye contact with me. This went on for 10 of the 30 minutes I was there. She went in the back after me and my friend started talking about how rude she was being. Also, it's not really their fault but it smells like a nail salon in there because there is a nail salon next door. I don't really like smelling strong acetone while eating. Great Pho, some of the best egg rolls, tasty grilled meats, awesome service, and good prices.

The noodles were hard, uncooked and the soup was hella salty. How this place got 4 stars, I will never know.
