I think I was greeted when I entered or at least acknowledged. Young lady finished up with the other customers in front of me and came right over. I got a bowl with brown rice and added: corn, seaweed salad, squid salad, corn, avocado, ginger, shrimp and salmon, garlic crisp w/ponzu sauce. She put a sauce on the rice as well but I don't recall what it was called. I think the base price was $12.50 but since I didn't get an itemized receipt I have no idea how I got to $23 lol that's literally double the cost. The bowl was delicious and ingredients were fresh. I'm very surprised that there aren't a lot of reviews for this restaurant as this place is truly awesome. I heard of this place before, but I never had the chance yet to eat here but one day I did. I ordered through the UberEats app and there was so much to choose from but eventually I chose the Ramen and the Japanese Milk Tea. The food and drink was so good and the service was just as wonderful. The ambiance here makes you feel like you stepped into another place to just relax and eat wonderful food. Stopped by Hello Poke for a quick to-go dinner when coming into town for a work trip. It was after 8pm and I was unsure if they would still have all the menu items available and fresh. I was delightfully surprised to see they were still open with all the options. There was a good amount of diners coming in and out, which is always a nice sign. Total took less than 5 mins to park, order, make my food & hit the road which was ideal after a 6.5 hr car ride. I took a bite in the parking lot to check the raw salmon quality and it was great - possibly even better than my favorite spot back at home! The food is always great here! My wife and I frequent Hello Poke, usually on a weekly basis. The food is always fantastic, good portion size, and the service is always great. The employees have come to remember our orders and are always friendly with us. They also offer a military discount which is extremely commendable and helps out a lot. The prices are high, but it is worth it due to the quality and quantity. Since they are the only poke place in the Augusta area we don't have much to choose from. This is their second location and I'm probably the last person to eat raw fish, but I saw they offered chicken, and knowing that had to be cooked, we decided to get half the experience lol. Savannah was so helpful when we ordered. We had never been here or their original location, and she walked us through everything, answered our questions of what some ingredients were, and was just so patient with us. Thanks Savannah! I did a create your own with brown rice, carrots, corn, edamame, green onion, and sweet onion. I got a little crazy and went with the spicy chicken and spicy aioli sauce topped with toasted(?) garlic. Over all, I was pretty happy with the bowl. It's a little weird for me to have the chicken cold, but I did feel like I was eating a deconstructed sushi roll. The crunchy veggies stayed crunchy and the softer veggies were firm and not mushy. I heard if you want a sweeter bowl, try the sweet soy sauce. I also found out they do bubble tea! I went ahead with the lychee although I did ask they go easy on the boba. The lychee was delightful as you get little pieces inside too not just flavor, and I was pleasantly surprised. I'd get that again, but I'd have to try the honey dew first. I love the amazing bowl with brown rice. It's got shrimp salmon tuna, plus seaweed salad and other good stuff. I get it with no jalapeños and less onions, plus a bunch of the crunchy toppings. Wife introduced this place to me when I returned from my last deployment, and it's amazing. The food is fresh and made the way you want it. The staff is absolutely fantastic, they accidentally messed one of the orders we placed and they quickly fixed the order exactly as it should have been. My wife and I go there at least twice a month. Poke bowls are a bit of a trend in urban and suburban American cities. Hello Poke is the restaurant/franchise in Augusta, GA that seems to hold the local market share. Poke as one of the websites describes is a bowl of chopped and small ingredients that are often the primary ingredients of a sushi roll. Why eat it in a bowl? It's a matter of convenience I expect, no need to sit down, use chop-sticks, and dip in soy sauce. It also allows you to use less common ingredients and combine more options into a single dish, to include things like edamame or carrots. Now onto the restaurants themselves. I don't know if Hello Poke is a large scale franchise or just a local one. That being said there are two in Augusta and the neighboring Grovetown. I have eaten at both locations and enjoyed a consistent experience. Regarding the base, I always recommend the sushi rice, after all isn't that why we're at a poke joint. I've ordered the tuna and the salmon and both meats were fresh and flavorful. The sauce options have always been tasty and I usually do the honey wasabi, sriracha aioli, and/or ponzu sauce. After that it's really a matter of personal preference regarding the vegetables and toppings but I usually stick to some combination of the classics, like avocado, cucumbers, onion crisps, tempura crunch, roe, etc. They do have some pre-built options and I will gladly recommend the Samurai bowl as a nice place to start. I don't usually get drinks and have been trying to drink more water but they do have some fun Asian beverages you can enjoy with the meal. The portions are healthy and I always leave full but not bloated, which is great if you want to get a bowl for lunch. The service has always been pretty quick too, even when there was a line of people, their assembly system allows for a fast turnover. I especially like the price point for their poke and have had to pay upwards of a 25-33% more at other poke restaurants around the country. Regarding the décor, both restaurants are in a strip mall and while they share the same logo, there is nothing especially noteworthy from the street view. The insides are decorated and have a clean aesthetic with some minor theming from modern and Asian sources. While I know the Augusta location across the street from the Regal theatre is open. During the COVID-19 lockdowns last year, the Grovetown location across the main drag from the Walmart super center completely closed the inside and simply sold take out. Their makeshift front of house alcove was actually very impressive and I think they had like a 99 or 100 from the health inspectors. Because both locations are in strip malls, parking should never be an issue, while you may not grab a space right in front, you'll probably be able to get one within thirty yards. The only comment I have for their online presence is that while I can find their information, it doesn't do so in a singular location and you may have to click around to see the menu and order. The two locations also don't seem to share a web presence even though they have the same menu and logo. If you don't search for it on an interactive map, you might not see that there are two nearby locations. All that being said, you can definitely find the information you're looking for so long as you're willing to click around a few times. Overall, I really enjoy these poke restaurants and will gladly go back when I'm feeling the craving. read more
