I'm updating my review and taking away a star simply due to a very apathetic customer service experience (3 times now) , but mainly because of the huge scheduling Gap the company has. They won't call you back if they don't have a tech available for the time that you have to tell them you're available. They don't give you times and days to pick from available technicians. Instead of calling you to reschedule because no Tech has picked up your job, nothing happens. No text, no email, no call. You have to call them back to reschedule and then you have to give them another time to wait another 24 hours to see if somebody is available and then if you don't get a confirmation email you have to keep calling to reschedule if nobody is available. It seems to me a simple text, like the one they send you to get a picture of the area for install, to let you know that no one's available would be the proactive customer service thing to do. Scheduling is a nightmare. Other companies just have a list of availabilities, you pick one, and that's when they show up. HelloTech has a convoluted process that makes you pick a list of times when you're available, and then a tech will "get back to you". A tech got back to me and said he'd be free Tuesday, but then cancelled on Monday, and then a different tech said they'd see me on Wednesday. Then, on Wednesday, that 2nd tech never showed up. No explanation. I'm going with a more expensive company that knows how to fucking schedule an appointment and stick to it. read more

If I could leave less than 1 start I would and I have not even had the service done yet. Normally I do not write reviews no matter how bad the service, but this one I have got to do. We are on day 3 now waiting for a tech to mount a tv on a wall. First day tech is late, told will be here in 30, still late 1 hr later wondering what is going on, finally get a call 1hr 30 later that they will be arriving next 30 min. Think to myself ok its a bad day moving on, but then tech arrives and has no tools to do the job. OK WTF? Anyway gets rescheduled next day, tech already 30 min late so I call help center. I get told that the tech didn't show up to install shifts from earlier in the morning and they won't be making it and I am like HUH? Why is it 1pm and you didn't even contact me to let me know tech is not even coming out. ALL I CAN SAY IS WOW. Now we are on day 3 to get install, tech supposed to be here an hour ago, no text, call, sms nothing from company that tech is running late, not coming nothing at all. So once again I call ask where is the tech, answer is we are not sure, but we will get the tech to call you to let you know when they will show up. REALLY?? REALLY?? On day 3 with 2 previously bad days that is your answer WOOOOOOOWWWWW I am normally very patient, but this is the worst service I have even seen in my life and again I HAVENT EVEN HAD THE INSTALL DONE YET I am kind of fearful to see how bad that is going to be. The website very explicitly says they don't charge until the service is complete. I needed same day service, and if they couldn't for some reason, I was gonna cancel. As soon as I hit submit, they placed a hold, which for all intents and purposes from the customer's perspective is still a charge. They failed to install same day and I now have to wait two days for a $350 charge to fall of the account. Super shady that they have that language and still place a hold. They should be upfront, and not lie to have their cake and eat it too. read more

On top of that the most frustrating is that I used this hello tech service because I needed someone to install the cord covers which I had expedited shipped for the appointment today and he did not install them. The TV installation is very good. However I was charged an additional $75 and he took 5 hours for installation not leaving my home until midnight. His arrival time was 7pm. He was drilling into the walls in the apt that I am just moving into until midnight. Not a good way to come into a community with all of that noise. I would have anticipated it taking no longer than 3 hours to install a TV. I paid for cord coverage in the original package. He said the price only covered one piece of cover, billing me for additional plus way overcharging me for an extension cord. Then he said he was giving me a discount. All said the TV is secure and looks nice, although off center which I was told it had to be for the stud. Be careful that you don't accidentally click the box for membership. It will enroll you for an entire year with no refunds or cancellation. No transparency and they are capitalizing on people who don't evaluate their monthly expenses to flag subscription. Once you realize you are a member they say you are locked in for a year. Tech: He was very friendly and I felt safe with him being in my home. One door was calibrated and installed incorrectly. I found recently that a sensor was installed blocking a door so it will not open. Customer support: It took me 3-4 phone calls and multiple hours in a week long period in order to get my problem somewhat resolved. I ended up requesting a refund for the portion that was done incorrectly. I finally received a phone call from the tech and he said that he had told hello tech he was unavailable for the week in which I had my problem. He did not know why they didn't send another tech out. I will not be using hello tech again and will not be recommending this service to anyone in the future. I spent almost $300 for an install that I am going to have to find someone else to fix or fix myself. read more

They are good for a one-time visit fix, but don't get bamboozled into getting their monthly remote service... you can't cancel for a year, and they only thing they can help you with is with "virtual chat" assistance -- so you're better off just calling them about if you need something else -- or ask a tech-saavy friend to help you out! read more

Where do i begin.. I put a quote in to have a TV removed from the wall and stated that a ladder was needed. The tech called me a couple of times on the day of the appt and didn't leave a message. Once i called the number back he informed that that he did not read the ticket until a couple of hours before and didn't have a ladder. He asked if there was another day he could do the task. I called Hello Tech back and I said I have time tomorrow but i need the tech at my home by 4:00 pm and done by 6:00 i need to leave. They put me on hold reached out to the same tech and he accepted the job and said that time worked for him. Great appointment is rescheduled the tech knows he needs a ladder so we should be all set. That was not the case an hour before the tech is supposed to be at my home he releases the appt stating that he did not have a ladder.. how is that possible when you knew you needed one and could have canceled error so another tech could be assigned. I proceed to call customer service an only thing i was told is the tech released the job and we are looking for another tech. i stated you are going to find another tech to be at my home in 30 mins.. pure silence... So i stated is there a email or phone number to call and complain about your service.. i was told a supervisor would be calling me but here i sit still waiting for that call. Zero stars!!! A refund has been requested. No communication from tech telling me he was en route. He was 13 minutes late and I had no idea if he was even coming. This was a reschedule from 4/9 when a different HelloTech technician no-showed and didn't reach out to me at all. I decided to give your company a 2nd chance. When he arrived, the tech was not wearing HelloTech branded shirt or badge to identify himself. Tech was not wearing any face covering to follow your Covid-19 protocol and did not have one in his possession when I requested that he put one on. Most importantly, the problem was not fixed. Appointment was to set-up printer/scanner. Tech was apparently able to get them both to work while he was here, but did not work after he left. I am in the exact same position as I was before he arrived and was charged $85.02. And finally, tech requested that I pay him $50 with either cash or via Venmo when he was done. I told him that my credit card was on file and he said I was responsible for paying him the $50 directly to him in cash or Venmo and that HelloTech would bill my card for the remaining balance. The tech was about 20 mins late and didn't call to let me know and he didn't even acknowledge that he was late. I was able to see him on the tracking system but I at least expected an apology. I was very surprised that he strongly smelled of marijuana. I had to open my window when he left to air out my bedroom before my young daughter smelled it. That smell makes me feel nauseous. I understand that its legal, but I didn't think it was professional of him to reek of it while on the job. This was the worst service and biggest scam I've ever been through. No one at customer service is answering to make it right either. We hired hellotech to install three simplisafe outdoor cameras. Our tech came unprepared, damaged our house, and may have permanently damaged one of the cameras. He hung one of the outdoor cameras with command strips when the package clearly said those were for indoor use only. So of course the camera fell down the next day. It is now upside down and has been rained on. We can't get it down because we don't have a ladder, hence why we hired hellotech in the first place. He also left a knot in the power cord and tried shoving it under the siding which is now damaged??? It was pure laziness and disregard for our property. On the other side of the house we now have three holes in the siding and a ripped power cord because the tech did not have the proper tools to feed the wire through to power the camera and just kept poking holes with his drill. We immediately reached out to hellotech and they have offered no help nor response from their level two support team. We asked for a more experienced tech to come out and fix it, no answer. It's been 6 days. At this point we just want a refund and to forget about this awful company, but they have left us stranded. Our camera may be completely useless due to the rain and now it seems we are left to foot the bill with replacing it. NEVER use this company. read more

Tech did not come with enough people as directed when I setup the appt to be able to lift the TV and tried involving my wife to help him install it. The tech did not mount the TV correctly it's completely off centered. He left with it that way. I still do not have a follow up appt sent to me yet with a new tech. I overpaid to have a TV mounted $208 to Hello Tech, plus $250 directly to the Tech(John P) because it was mounted up to high, I expressed to him the next day that my Neck was in pain from looking up. Tech told me it couldn't be mounted lower the night they mounted the TV, he came back the next day and lowered the TV correcting the problem, and charged me $250. I tried to hire a computer tech to optimize my computers performance. I sat on a 3 hour remote session which ended with them telling me they'd have to send someone out to look at my hardware. The next day a "technician" arrived. Technician is in quotes because the man who was sent by hello tech was not a software engineer. He was not a certified computer repair person. He was just some guy. Some guy who "has been using computers a long time." He told me he has been using computers for so long he used to have a hotmail account. As if that was the only qualifier for writing code. Not only did this man make my computer run worse, he stole my wallet that was sitting near my computer. HORRIBLE! Two techs arrived at 6:38 PM and didn't leave until 10:30 PM. The only reason they left is because I was fed up with the entire ordeal. I still had to program it myself after they left, and I had to get a locksmith to make sure it was mounted properly. So what exactly am I paying you for? My front door was open for FOUR HOURS. I'm sure my electric bill will negatively reflect as such. The "assistant" knew more than the main guy. He kept dismissing every statement the assistant made; which, by the way, turned out to be accurate. From the very beginning the assigned tech tried to pitch me his security firm options, and stated my door lock was for an office not a home. That was complete nonsense. When the assistant gave up on trying to convince the assigned tech of what needed to be done, I was finished. I'm so frustrated still this morning! Hello Tech is a great software driven service. I explained my service request and the rep took a little time to research the work and gave me an estimate. I agreed and gave the dates and times that the work could be done. My project was put out to available techs. Two hours later they emailed and texted a confirmation of date and time for a Hello Tech technician to perform my work. Although it was during the time I had provided them, my wife had altered our scheduled availability. The Hello Tech software allowed me to enter a schedule change request with another list of dates and time availability. The next day they confirmed a new appointment. Again my wife asked me to change the revised appointment. So for the second time Hello Tech software allowed me to request a schedule change. A few hours later I received a confirmation for the revised third appointment. Oh yes, each time they provided a name and photo of the technician. I bought an item and ended up returning it. I got like 5 UPS notifications telling me no one is there to pick up the package. I have never had such a terrible returns experience. Why would they provide a shipping label to an address where no one is there to accept the package? Their return policy also has a deadline so it makes no sense. I'm a General Contractor, stuck with a bunch of brand new Honeywell thermostats (over $600), that they indicated will work with my mechanical system. After spending $200 working with my plumber on trying to find a way to make them work, discovered they are not compatible. When we gave up and plumber decided to go to his supply house and get different ones, I contacted HelloTech about returning, to which they replied we were past the 30-day window... which I guess they start counting the day you place the order, so watch out!
