Armature is pretty pricey when it comes to food. One of the restaurants that almost hits its value is Hemingway's Cuban kitchen. A fantastic Cuban sandwich and I loved the rice and beans. The atmosphere around armature works is where it's at. Very good. read more

Hey hey hey so far so good. Had to grab some breakfast before heading back home. Got here at 0930hrs and sat down quickly. I ordered the west Tampa breakfast. So far so good. Hemingway's at Armature Works! This is one of my top favorite places to eat at Armature Works. Their Chicharróns are da bomb! If you are on a keto diet....this is the dish for you! If aren't on a keto diet, you may want to share this appetizer with a friend. Regardless...give this a try. It comes with a slice sauce, creamy cilantro sauce, and a lime wedge. I suggest squeezing the lime over the the Chicharróns. Then trying the sauces. I like them both so now I drizzle both on top. On this particular visit my party and I were sharing a table with strangers and I insisted they try one (they never had them before). They were very hesitant to try them. The black bean burger was fantastic. It had such a different taste to it as it has plaintains mixed in with the black beans. It was well seasoned and it all came together so well with the coleslaw, sauce and the super soft brioche bun. The yuca fries were good. We came to Armature Wrirks for Noon Years Eve kids party. We decided try a Cuban sandwich from Hemmingways. Overall the sandwich was just okay, lacked flavor and was bland. Ordered a side of the cilantro rice, also very bland. Service is really the only thing I liked, the gentlemen taking our order was polite and efficient with the crowds. We waited about 20 minutes for the sandwich and rice. Probably won't eat a Cuban here again, may try something else. read more

The only reason I'm giving this restaurant 2 instead of one star is because of the cortadito, the yucca fries and the friendly staff. I ordered a Cuban sandwich sans salami, which is served with yucca fries and a green dipping sauce. Everything in the sandwich (the pork, ham, cheese) was bland, even the pickles (I had to ask for more to give the sandwich some flavor!). I honestly don't think I've ever had a more bland Cuban sandwich. Also for the prices they charge ($16) they should be providing better quality food. The yucca fries on the other hand were so different and good! They almost look more like yucca sticks (or fingers?) and they are so soft on the inside, like deep fried mashed yucca. The green dipping sauce was also good, not spicy. The cortadito was nice, strong, flavorful coffee with just the right amount of sugar. The staff was very nice, friendly and accommodating. read more

The food here is tasty and full of flavor (at least what I've had). Their El ultimo sandwich is really good. The garlic sauce that goes with the yucca fries or tostones is very yummy and of course garlicky! The tostones themselves are just OK. I've enjoyed their sangria happy hour real well. It's overall decent place in the area, if you're in the mood for cuban style food. As expected, they do get reasonable lines during peak times, but the lines at least move better than the other surrounding food places due to the fact that they take your phone number and text you when the food is ready so more people move out of the way for efficiency. I haven't tried dessert here yet. Hope to come back for that. It's one of the many tasty options I like to try while meandering through armature works and after a good walk up and down Riverwalk Tampa. read more

For not being your traditional quaint bistro or bar, this comfy little modernish take on a Habana Vieja-style Café sports radiance, comfort, and friendliness the moment you walk in the big doors... It stands out in cluttered concentration of other eateries where what you at once smell is the aromas exuding from the vicinity of Hemingway's. And, once you've tried the food, the wonderful encounter, you most definitely want to come back for more! Their take on everything we checked out during our visit was unique, tasty and delectable to Cuban Cuisine Traditions, yet with a fabulous taste and quality that is hard to put your finger on, and they nailed it on the head as to what a modern rendition of what the Pearl of the Caribbean seasonings should be like - spot on! David the manager has an awful attitude, he is rude. Lacks patience. Food waited on the counter and was cold by the time we got it. The staff who placed the order didn't explain their food order process. The tostones with shrimp are extremely salty. The ultimo sandwich is good and highly recommend.
