Great Cuban dishes. After visiting the zoo, we decided to Grab lunch at this location so the kids could have a little taste of what Cuban food should have been. Ordered a Cuban appetizer which was very yum. The restaurant was huge. We went for a late lunch around 1:30 on Wednesday and were seated in less than 5 min. The food and drink menus were very extensive but figured we should get the Cuban sandwich combo and a bowl of Bahamian conch chowder. As for sides for our combo, we got a salad and yuca fries. The conch chowder was 4/5, the Cuban sandwich was 3/5, yuca fries were 4/5, the salad was a salad. Overall I thought food was somewhat bland. The service was amazing though. read more

Came in as soon as we rolled into town for vacation per recommendations from family. Melissa was our waitress and was very attentive, refilling our drinks multiple times. We opted to share two dishes - the Carbonara pasta and the Chorizo burger and opted to get the pork empanadas instead of sides. The pork empanadas came out so quickly and really hit the spot, especially with the perfectly balanced guava bbq sauce. The pasta and burger were both to die for, some of the best food we've ever had. There isn't much more to say, besides this was a perfect meal! We ended the meal with the Ultimate Brownie and the crunchy caramel popcorn and caramel sauce was soooo good. Definitely save room for dessert!! read more

This was a busy place on a rainy Sunday afternoon. But they seated us quickly and took our order. Our food was out so fast I could hardly believe it. We ordered a bowl of corn & shrimp chowder and their cubano sandwich. It was all delicious. I would definitely return to try something else on the menu. Two years ago, I ate here on the patio and wasn't very impressed. To be fair, the loud table of ladies next to me may have tainted the experience. Now, now, they have got it going on for your palate! We are here for the 2nd time in a week! The appetizer, guacamole on curly fried plantains was out of this world delicious. The black bean hummus was incredible. The Santiago's catch, with eyes on you, was great. The chimmichuri sauce fixed the creepy vision issue. Delightful waitresses. Lovely atmosphere. After coming to appreciate good rums while working in SW Florida last year, the first thing I searched for when I received an assignment in Melbourne was a polace with a good rum selection. That led me to Hemingways, where I was certainly not disappointed. Made a first visit, solo, and sat at the bar, where I encountered their bar lead, Tyler, who is as fine a mixologist as I have experienced anywhere. Friendly, courteous, and knowledgable, we were off to a fine start. That visit I went with their Cubano and soup special. The traditional Cubano was as good as I have had anywhere, the black bean soup was sublime. When my wife came for a visit the following weekend, there was no question where I was going to take her for dinner. A stop at the bar while awaiting our table brought another enjoyable encounter with Tyler. I know this will sound strange, but doi you have any idea how hard it is to find a bartender, especially a young bartender, who knows how to make a classic Daquiri? I promise you in 7 months last year in Fort Myers, the only one I found was one I taught how to make one! Dinner was amazing, Hemingways take on the classic crab and artichoke dip kicks it up a notch with lobster meat instead of crab. Perfectly seasoned, we could have made a meal out of just that dip and the Naan served with it. My entree, the Snapper Hemingway, ws a generous filet of red snapper, lightly breaded and perfectly cooked. The Buerre Blanc and crab meat sauce atop it was a great compliment. My only critical comment would be that the rice caribe, with golden raisins and (I think) papaya, while delicious, was too sweet to accompany the sweet snapper and the rich sauce. Perhaps a more savory rice mix would have been better. Bonu points for the perfectly grilled asparagus. My wife enjoyed a special -- a salmon dish. I was too busy with my snapper to pay attention to what all was in it. But as we left she told me she wants to come back next visit. As with the bar, the table service was great. Our server was fast and attentive. She offered detailed information when asked about dishes on the menu. The Snapper Hemingway, she said, was her favorite thing on the menu. Her advice was spot on. The service was exceptional enough for me to seek out a manager to compliment both Tyler at the bar and Alana, or server. This is likely to be a very regular Friday night after work spot for me while I am assigned here and as mentioned, my wife cannot wait to come back. read more

So glad we discovered this place while visiting Melbourne beach. The restaurant is in a cute little shopping center near the old movie theater, and they have indoor and outdoor seating. First of all, we ordered beignets while waiting for a table and I didn't even get to snap a picture because they were gone within seconds. They were the BEST beignets I've had since New Orleans and I would make a trip here just for those. I love that they have a counter service window to order bakery items and coffee. For the appetizer we ordered the fish dip which was really good, especially with the jalapeño jelly they give you on the side. For dinner I had the ceviche, which was different than any I've tried before but sooo good. We also ordered the ribs....be prepared if you order those, holy moly they're HUGE! Service was excellent, they said a 15 min wait but it was more like 15 seconds. I had the bowl with pork. Good mix of flavors with rice, beans pineapple salsa and tender Cuban pork. I visited Hemingway's Tavern yesterday for Lobsterfest. This was my first visit and I was quite impressed with the ambiance, food and service. Parking was plentiful and since weI arrived early, my party was seated immediately. It was a hot day, so we chose to dine inside but there was ample seating outside under cover as well. My dining companion and I ordered the Lobster Roll. It arrived with a small side of delicious Cole Slaw. The entree contained large pieces of lobster and we both enjoyed our meal. After dining, I took a walk around the restaurant, peeking into the kitchen and looking at the interesting and unique Key West and Hemingway related touches. Service by Christina was precessional and attentive. I hope to return for brunch in the future. read more

Love this place...been here 4-5 times...and every time the service and quality of the food is consistent. The Sweet Thai Chili wings are my favorite...I could eat atleast 5 orders of it alone. My most recent visit we came here for brunch and ordered the Papas Breakfast Platter...nothing out of the normal, everyone was happy...Ig also got my wings so my tastebuds were satisfied. The food was really good. I had the Tavern Tacos with blackened Snapper. My wife ordered the key west bowl with grilled shrimp. The only problem we had was a long wait time due to two walk-outs from their kitchen. Despite that, our waitress was PHENOMINAL. Rosie was on top of drinks for us and busting her hump with a fully packed house. She was communicative with us, which I wish the manager would have done. Rosie was.awesome.and I would ask for her specifically. The one thing I did like because of the walk-outs in the kitchen was how the entire staff pitched in to help. The kitchen was busting, trying to get orders out, and the front of house came to help get the orders to the table. The manager was making his rounds. Perhaps he did not get to us because our table was pretty chill. I will definitely go back again, probably with a smaller group as we had seven in ours, which only added to the stress of the staff given the circumstance. read more

This place is huge with both indoor and outdoor seating aplenty, and it appears that is necessary due to the large volume of people here even on a weeknight. There is also a large parking lot, so no worries about where to park either. We started with the fish dip - oh my goodness. It was one of the best we've ever had, and the addition of a little lemon zest did amazing things to your taste buds! Served with fried plantain slivers, it was so very good. We split a Cuban sandwich with Yucca fries. The Cuban was very tasty and the fries were perfectly crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Mojitos were very good as well. Server was on point. This restaurant isn't bad but it DEFINITELY isn't authentic Cuban. I came here twice, the first time I order chicken with rice and black beans. When I tried the black beans I almost barfed. As a Cuban, it's an insult to me to even call that Cuban black beans. The second time I went I just ordered a Cuban sandwich with Cesar salad. This place is awesome! It's set in a great location in West Melbourne with other shops around it. They have brunch on the weekends which I've had before and it was wonderful. This time we stopped by for dinner and got burgers. It's usually busy inside but they do offer indoor and outside seating. It's a really fun vibe inside and the waitresses are attentive. We were pleasantly surprised by the broad menu. We came during their Lobsterfest - so we tried a few of the specials. The kobster fritters were outstanding: crispy but neither crumbly nor flakey. The lobster and shrimp bisque rich and smooth. The lobster roll was chock full of fresh New England lobster. Their signature Cuban sandwich was flavorful and really well stuffed. What a nice find. Thank you fellow Yelpers! On our drive to St Augustine we hadn't eaten and decided to take a like detour for some grub. Since I was driving I can't take the credit for finding it anywho :P My fiancé read some of the menu options and we were intrigued. Upon arriving we noticed some specials on the board and the soup of the day is what caught his eye and my mother in loves. Plantain and bacon soup. So he ordered a bowl (I mean he has to share it with me) and his mom ordered a cup. We also ordered the tostones de cerdo,, chicken skewers, 4 conch fritters and my mother in love ordered the pulled pork bowl but opted for the snapper instead of pulled pork with rice and beans and maduros with a cilantro sauce. I almost forgot our drinks we had a pineapple mojito, regular mojito, espresso martini and I had 2 new new fashioned. My favorite was my drink it was a twist on old fashioned with muddled strawberries and lemon. My fiancé wasn't crazy about his pineapple mojito (no buzz) but enjoyed the espresso martini much more. The chicken skewers were tasty, conch fritters were good (my mother in law thought to salty) the pork tostones were delish and the snapper bowl was ok. The restaurant started off with a great environment. It really sings tavern style but with class. Hostesses welcomed us the second we walked in until the server arrived at the table. There was pub style and home cooked style food options. The wait time was super short even when they were packed. Our server Eric was quick and friendly. We started off with the conch fritters, enjoyed our entrees, and then treated ourselves to the richest caramel brownie with ice cream. It was just over $100 with tip for two of us but it was worth the price. We reccomend Hemingways and will be back when we are in town again! read more
