When I heard of this place, I envisioned how it all started. Owner sitting with friends talking about a new Venture. Owner: "I'm going to create this new restaurant. We were going apple picking today so I was looking for somewhere to eat lunch before. When I found this place, I knew I had to try it. We got there right around noon on a Sunday. There was a line of about 5-10 people. You order at the counter, take a number, find a table, and they bring your food to you. We had no trouble finding a table upstairs. They had already sold out of a couple of kinds of donuts, so we went with the maple sea salt and apple butter. They were both just ok. I'm not a big fan of cake donuts and these weren't my favorite. I tried some of the glazed donut my friend got and it was amazing. For our meal, we got the egg in a basket and the maple bacon chicken sandwich. The egg in a basket tasted kind of like french toast to me. The donut lost it's sweetness which I think would have enhanced it. We loved the maple bacon chicken sandwich. Wife and I stopped in for breakfast Friday morning 9/9 after her best friend's daughter who lives in Hendersonville recommended this place and we are both glad we did. I got a country ham and egg biscuit and the wife an egg and cheese biscuit. The scratch made buttermilk biscuits here are huge, fluffy and delicious! These are some of the best biscuits we've had at a restaurant in very long time. The did not scrimp on the country ham and it was very good, tender and just salty enough without being too salty. They are known for their chicken and doughnuts, thus the name Hendough. And while we were there we tried the doughnuts. They were just like the biscuits, large, fluffy and delicious. We split a glazed doughnut after breakfast and took two more home for the next morning. The wife got a caramel expresso and I a chocolate covered Boston creme and both were fantastic. They also have some very good organic dark roast coffee and the wife and I like that the coffee cups and take out boxes are all compostable meaning less waste in the landfills. With our breakfast, coffee and doughnuts, tax and tip it was right around $30. Was it worth it? Better get there early to be able to snag a table! We started with doughnuts--a creme filled one, and the caramel espresso cake doughnut. The former was definitely the better of the two. The caramel doughnut was just a bit dry. We waited approvingly 20 minutes for our egg biscuits, a bit longer than I would have expected. But when they arrived, the sandwiches were sooo worth it. I had a simple--but delicious--egg and cheese biscuit. The biscuits are huge and soft, served with two slices of cheese. My husband had a fried chicken, egg, and cheese biscuit. The fried chicken was fabulous as well. The coffee was passable, but two of the three coffee serving pots were out, and not filled promptly, including our usual strong brew. So good we had to go TWICE in 2 days! We were staying close by and came across HenDough. Needless to say, it was a great way to start our day! I got the Donut Breakfast Sandwich on the first day and it was AMAZING. The glazed donut was the perfect vehicle for the sausage (which I assume was made in house?) bacon, and fried egg. The service was quick and they have plenty of seating inside and outside. On the second day, I decided to try the Pimiento Cheese Biscuit and I added a fried chicken with it. The pimiento cheese was perfectly creamy (and they didn't skimp on it) while the biscuit was flaky and buttery. The highlight of the sandwich, however, was the fried chicken. I don't know what they put in their batter but it was light, crispy, and well-seasoned! I love it! I also tried one of their creme brûlée donut for dessert and it met my brûlée expectation, meaning the top of the donut was a hardened caramelized sugar while the inside was a perfectly balanced custard. We really wanted to like this place. We saw so many great reviews so wanted to try it. After many months, we finally made it there. We drove up, the place is charming from the outside. We go in and it is pretty small on the inside. My bf needs to go to the restroom and he has to walk over a dog that was sitting in the pathway. This is not a service animal but a pet. The owner makes no effort to move the dog from the path. Since we are not a fan of eating around dogs, we decide to get our food to go. We order and wait outside. While ordering, another man comes in with a dog ( not a service dog) and the dog was not on a lease. He orders then goes outside. No problem but the dog was not restrained and was running around. It did not approach us but I thought dogs had to be leashed in outdoor areas in NC. We get notified our food is ready so my bf goes in to get it. While he's inside, the guy with a dog inside comes out takes a couple of steps then stops. My boyfriend comes out and we proceed to our car. My bf mumbles excuse me to the guy so we can get past him and the dog. Once we are past and almost to the parking lot he yells.. "you have a problem with my dog?" We have no idea why he asked that because not one word was said about either dog. My guess is other ppl have said something to him, but I don't know. Anyway, my bf says I like dogs but I have a problem with you and your dog blocking the walk ways. A few more words were exchanged then he (the guy with the dog) tells my bf to go back where he came from. Nice... you are aggressive to us and you tell him to go back to where he came from? We leave to go find a place to eat. The food looked good but the tenders were awful. We ended up throwing away $25 worth of food ( we kept the donuts, they were good) and ate at a different restaurant. Obviously Hendough has no problems with dogs running around their restaurant. This is rude and also illegal but unfortunately, at least for now, not enforced. I know it's a bit tricky since anyone can say their dog is a service dog. But you can tell a true service dog from a pet. Service dog owners typically are very respectful of the people around them, they keep their dogs close, and do not allow people to come up and hug and kiss on them ( this happened with the dog in the restaurant). It would be nice if business owners would be respectful of all their guest, especially the humans that are paying to eat there. read more

You order from one window and then get a beeper for another window. In the ordering window, you get the chance to sneak a peek at the doughnuts too. I ordered from the Gather app and got my food right away, although they are still working with vendor to send notifications for when your food is ready. Let's get down to the important details...the food. I order 2 of the traditional chicken sandwiches because why not. The chicken is super crispy, lathered well with Duke's Mayo, served on a crispy bun, and juicy as heck when you bite in. This was a cute little place in Hendersonville that I heard had great donuts. I went at around 2pm on a Saturday and they were almost sold out. I was able to get glazed, chocolate frosted, caramel espresso and vegan apple butter donuts. The vegan apple butter ones were the best! All the other ones were pretty average. I didn't like the chocolate on the chocolate donut. It tasted like Hershey syrup. The glazed donuts were ok. The caramel espresso donuts were second best. I liked the strong espresso flavor. Maybe these donuts are better fresh in the morning, but they were a little dry by the time we had them. read more

They have online ordering, which is really nice during these COVID times. I picked up my online order and then ate at one of their picnic tables (they have several outside).
