The drinks were great and I'd probably stop in for food next time I'm in town ------ Staying at the Kimpton here for the next few days. Tried to take advantage of their manhattan specials during happy hour that goes until 6. Sat down at 5:55 and was told I couldn't have one even at regular price because they're "trying to drive in more business" during happy hour. Well they lost business from me for not sticking to their advertised happy hour. Not a great way to drive in business for the hotel guests especially when it's advertised when you walk into your room. read more

4.5! We really enjoyed this place! Everything was great from the food to their service. We sat at the bar which was really pretty. For starters, I ordered their Greenland cocktail which was really light and refreshing. I really enjoyed it! My husband ordered just a regular tequila with pineapple juice and he also enjoyed it as well. BTW- they have a daily special of $6 cocktail everyday all day! It changes per day so make sure to try it! Now comes the food. Please do yourself a favor and order their DUCK&DUMPLINGS! Lawd. It is so good! I really enjoyed it! My husband ordered their burger and that was good as well! Their fries were delicious, too!!! Bartenders were awesome. I asked which cocktail resembles a gimlet and they knew exactly what to recommend. They also recommended the duck and dumpling which was amazing! Overall our experience was really good. PRETENCIOUS CRAP. I was amazed to see how this place could pretend to be a fine dinning establishment - when in reality - it was far from it! I am by no means a person that runs around giving good or bad reviews on a whim. In fact, I rarely give reviews unless I am extremely happy or upset by the food at a given establishment. Henley is one of those that was so far off the mark that I had to review it for the sake of others thinking of going there. I come from a background where high-end culinary foods are found in the majority of restaurants where I travel and so it's easy to see when a restaurant is trying to present themselves as a high class establishment - but fails miserably. The Henley has some of the worst interpretations of elegant or masterful menu items that I've had in a very long time. Each dish I tried was a poor attempt at blending what should have been truly elegant flavors and classical presentations. I was glad to have the opportunity to sample many different menu offerings, as it helped seal my conviction that this establishment failed to come close to offering anything that would be considered fine dining. The owners and/or managers need to get out into the world and see what fine dinning really is and taste truly exquisite dishes. If they really do feel their food is up to par, then I feel terrible that they could be so blind. It is even sadder to think the Kimpton Aertson Hotel believes they have a top shelf restaurant as well. read more

Oh my goodness amazing! I can't come up with enough adjectives. We went for Father's day. First, it is gorgeous! Second, the bar is on point. Also the Manhattan trolley is worth the time. I had a beautiful custom blended Mahattan with an amazing Bartender (Benjamin). The food was divine from the tartare to the tuna crudo. The squid ink pasta alone was worth the trip (even though I am gluten free). We finished it off with chocolate souffle and red velvet cake. Simply an exquisite meal. We had a fantastic experience at Henley. Though quite pricey, Henley surpassed our expectations with respect to the food and drinks. The space is well thought out. The bar is beautiful. The service was excellent. Waters filled. Plates bussed at appropriate times. Fresh silverware with each course. We never felt rushed or hurried. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu. The cocktails are out of this world. We tried the old bell, a beautiful riff on an old fashioned. The better with age was a delicious tiki style drink (think mai tai) that was delicious and refreshing. The Henley gin and tonic was fantastic as well. Effervescent and bright with beautiful floral notes. My favorite cocktail was Jonothan's manhattan. It was just fantastic. I now have a new favorite recipe. The food, though pricey, was excellent. We started with the pig head slider. The meat was juicy, the bun was tender, and the pickle provided nice balance. It was the perfect appetizer. Small, fried, fatty, savory, balanced. The charred watermelon salad was great. The charred watermelon complemented the goat cheese perfectly. The spiced peanuts were a great addition adding crunch and complexity. The salad delivered great flavor while being incredibly light. The gemelli were great. The broth was perfectly balanced. Light but a bit fatty, salty and Briny but well balanced. It was served with perfectly cooked clams and house made pasta. It was my wife's favorite dish. The lacquered quail I thought was stunning. Grilled and served with creamed corn and pickled blackberries, the perfect char on the quail was in perfect harmony with the creamy corn. I could've eaten three of these! The Fresno chiles provide a welcome spice element. The short rib was one of if not the best shirt rib I've ever had. Sous vide for 72 hours then served sliced off the bone like a ribeye, it was succulent, tender, and served with beautifully charred oyster mushrooms. We also got the chicken fried chanterelles with heirloom grits. I liked the dish but in hindsight would prefer a hard sear in butter as opposed to frying the mushrooms. They got soggy quickly. Especially after the gravy was spooned over them. The grits would've benefitted from some more salt. Alas, this dish is the only one I have anything negative to say about. And it was still very good. Dessert was fantastic as well we got the chocolate torte. It was divine! Like the best Heath bar ever. Paired with a salted pretzel ice cream it was the perfect end to a fantastic meal. I will be back and Henley soon! This is one of the first Nashville restaurants I've given a 5 star review. I hope they can maintain these standards!! read more

First and foremost this review is for their Thanksgiving buffet they had. Turkey was really good but everything else seemed to be sitting out for a while on the buffet so sides were luke warm at best and not fresh. Desserts were really good. Our server Marcella was so sweet and helpful. However when we initially came in we got a weird vibe from the hostess. Can't explain it but didn't really make us feel welcome. Oh I love this little place! Atmosphere - light, Americana with lots of touches of leather, wood and denim. Minimal artwork other than the bar wall. Very classic and modern. Service - our waitress was super informative on guiding us thru the menu. The food came out within 10 minutes. She was suggestive and kind. We also asked another server what he was carrying and gave me all the information. Food - be ready to splurge and try something new! My adventure was the Sirloin Tartare, wrapped in root beer leaf. It was wonderful, burst of flavor and not heavy. Kudos to our server to recommend that as well. We also did the Heirloom Tomatoes with Buttermilk Ricotta. Dish was pretty good, the tomatoes could've been seasoned more. My absolute favorite was the Spaghetti Alla Chitarra - the pasta was al dente and definitely homemade. Sauce was sweet yet spicy, could not get enough of it. Also I watched the cheese cart roll by and my eyes bugged out... I'm eager to try that out soon! Drinks - I had the Old Bell which was liquor forward with a sweet end. My friend had a super cute pineapple/rum drink. Which was Uber good... I wish I remembered the name. But mixed drinks were $12 - cheaper and tastier than the crafted cocktails at Attaboy. The only reason it's not five stars is the parking sucks (street which is cheap but super hard to find a spot or valet which is $5). And the menu is pretty seafood/weird meats forward. We were having a few days away and staying at the Kimpton Aertson hotel, so we thought we'd give the small restaurant a try. It was so delicious we went back two nights later! Met the chef, a might fine stout yeoman of the culinary school...never trust a thin chef is our motto and RJ seemed to have exactly the right stature! His staff all looked after us with efficient but personal style and unlike some of the clients....none of them seemed up themselves. We ate sweetbreads, corned beef (certainly never seen a can!!!!) smoked duck eggs, crispy pork scratchings (four portions!!!) quail, fish, fresh dug potatoes and more. Drank local ale and white wine. Left the table for a night of snoozing as lust was the last thing on our minds after such a feast! read more

Fantastic food and service. We went with a group of 6 on a Monday. Everywhere else in Nashville was claiming waits of 1 hour plus, even with a reservation, but we were seated immediately. Friendly, efficient service and delicious food - beef tartare, cheese & charcuterie and especially the shrimp and grits. The restaurant looks great too. Had an unforgettable birthday celebration here with my sweet friend! The environment is so pretty and quiet. With reservation we got to sit in a nice corner on a Sunday evening. The moscato rosé is AMAZING! Got all the bubbly and sweet taste. Our appetizers are so delicious, the black truffle pasta is so good, the sweet potato butter pastry is awesome!!! We shared a short rib dish and it's huge and super satisfying. Only unfortunate thing about dessert is we were expecting so much and tried our best to save room for it, but the chocolate soufflé came with a scoop of "fennel-taste" ice cream that we personally felt like destroy the whole soufflé. Four stars seems like the right amount for this restaurant. Service was great and we had a friendly waitress that provided recommendations and help with the menu. The hush puppies were absent from the recommendations but for some reason we tried it, and sadly they were not great. The rest of the dishes paled in comparison with the catbird seat. My coworkers and I went to Henley during happy hour to celebrate a successful project. It's very convenient from work, so we walked right in as soon as the doors opened. The decor was just my style; it manages to be both sleek and just a tiny bit opulent with interesting accents. Unfortunately, the service left a little something to be desired. We found ourselves a spot to sit and chatted for a few minutes before one of the bartenders caught our attention and put some menus on the bar, which we had to go pick up ourselves. We decided on our drinks and ordered them at the bar. It took about ten minutes to get four drinks (a gin and tonic, a margarita on the rocks, and two drinks off their happy hour Manhattan menu), so we each returned to the bar one-by-one to get them as they were prepared. My first drink was extremely weak. The flavors were interesting, but they were totally drowned by the amount of ice. My coworkers also said their drinks were watery. The second drink I had, the Recipe #12 Manhattan, was great. I would definitely recommend it. However, my coworkers weren't too excited about their drinks. Settling the bills took a long time, too, with the bartenders rushing off to serve one of the other six or seven people there instead of finishing the job. I'd give this place another chance because of its proximity to work and the interesting atmosphere, but I'll definitely be sitting AT (rather than near) the bar and asking for my check early so they can figure it out. read more

We loved our dinner at Henley. We went there on Saturday night to celebrate my birthday a few days early. They knew we were celebrating, and gave us some complimentary bubbles at the beginning of our meal, which made me feel very special! We started with the charcuterie board. The paté was delicious! My husband got the Springer Farms chicken, which was huge! It was pretty much the whole chicken The sauce that came on top of the chicken was DEE-LISH. I had the scallops as my main and they did not disappoint. We shared a side of their asparagus and it may have been my favorite part! The sauce that came on the asparagus had a great kick. Then, topping it all off, I got a surprise ice cream sundae for my birthday dessert, complete with a candle to make a wish. Drinks were top notch, the apps (Brie) and entrees (Chix Dumplings and Rabbit) were stellar and dessert was so good my gf and I ordered a 3rd piece to-go. Another Nashville stab at upscale southern food. Located in the Aertson hotel in Midtown. The fusion menu is good. Fantastic whiskey selection. The table side Manhattan cart was closed due to COVID . The bartender knows his stuff and I had a bourbon cocktail that I had never had before the Vieux Carré. It was great. Very smooth, almost like sweet tea. The crab dip and spring rolls were very good. I had the duck confit gnocchi dumplings. I liked it a lot. It was very heavy and oily the duck was smoked and salty similar to bacon. Others t my table had then Springer farms fried chicken and the scallop and grits. Both raves about there dishes. We skipped desert. read more

Our server came up right away and as soon as she found out I had an egg allergy went above and beyond to make our meal excellent. Her care was so meaningful to me!! Henley is a chic, trendy new spot in midtown/broadway to grab a nice cocktail and some lights appetizers/small plates. We went with three women for a friend's birthday and had a great time. Perfect volume and lighting with really cute decor. We sat at the long bar top table straight ahead from the door and it was perfect for a happy hour for the four of us. We snacked on the heirloom tomatoes and PRB Fingerling Potatoes. Tomatoes were great, but as you can imagine, around $7 for about one or two sliced heirlooms. Potatoes were delicious, charred to perfection with bacon bits. I will definitely go back. Shout out to the General Manager, James. He is so personable, friendly and has AMAZING recommendations. If you are feeling lost, ask if he's around for a quick rundown of the menu. He is knowledgeable, kind and very easy to talk to. He made our evening flawless. read more

Henley is a great location for anyone staying at the kimpton hotel or nearby vandy. It's strange that they're open for breakfast and dinner only but their drink selection was fantastic and curated for summer. The food was also great. The fries and burgers someone at table had looked a bit small compared to other burgers. We also had the cauliflower appetizer which was fine. If there were more options for the "table snacks " this place would be a 10/10 read more

Night 1 was a business dinner arranged for a private experience - a take on their Rabbit Hole (chefs table) experience. This was quite literally the best meal, service and experience i have ever had. Literally. I have already told my wife that we will be flying here specifically to do the chefs table experience. Then, the same week, a separate group requested we go to the Henley. This time casual dining versus a lavish experience. This would be the typical experience for readers. It was clear through every food item and drink that hit our table that the same passion, same service, same level of expertise had been inserted to the typical diners (and drinkers) experience as the "back room". The simple twists on traditional Nashville simply left me wanting seconds... or at least desert :) Highlights: Pimento + Crackers app was simple amazingness. Hushppies app... the chx liver mouse was an appetizer mic-drop. Chopped Kale Caesar salad... the poached egg yolk adds texture that somehow doesn't seem to belong, and then makes the dish perfect. Grouper entree was perfectly cooked and the lemon butter made me dance. Farm chicken entree whatever heavenly sauce this chicken was cooked in was so lightly coated but made me happy. Drinks: the Henley G+T and Greenlands (Ketel, lemoncello, et al) were brilliantly crafted. Dear (G)od. Came to visit Nashville on a bachelorette party with everyone else in the world. I called the Henley based on their Yelp rating 3 weeks in advance and they said they could accommodate all 9 of us. They were incredible. The drinks were great, food was awesome, particularly the bread, the Brie, the Mac and cheese with crab, and the quail. Our server was amazing and was so nice to the bride. Dinner for a date night here was amazing, with the service, food and atmosphere right on for my wife's birthday evening. We had gone to see Phantom earlier at Tpac, and were extremely tired by the time we had dinner. Our waiter was observant, engaging, and was detailed about everything we ordered and checked on us frequently to ensure our dinner was going great! We ordered a few appetizers, and i ordered the duck while my wife ordered the grits. Both meals were great, and the appetizers were also excellent! I was super excited about the cabbage. It shouldn't have been as good as it was, but our waiter had suggested trying it. He also suggested the mead as a drink with desert and it was amazing! Hotel restaurants aren't typically worthy of five stars, but the Henley is the exception. My husband and I had Christmas dinner here, and we were pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere and particularly the food. The menu was prix fixed with a few choices except for the main course of prime rib, mashed potatoes, carrots, peas and fried onions and Yorkshire pudding, or as us northerners like to say, popovers. I ordered oysters for an app and my husband ordered venison carpaccio, for our second course we both ordered crab soup and dessert was blood orange sorbet for me and praline pie for my husband. Everything was amazing! The prime rib was perfectly cooked and served with both a horseradish sauce and truffle sauce. I tasted the venison carpaccio and I think it was the star of the show, and that's saying a lot. We were never rushed, and with the exception of the waiter saying he had a brain fart, service was professional. If I have any thing negative to say it would be I dislike tables for two that are lined up against a wall too close together. I don't want to hear anyone else's conversation and I certainly don't want them to hear mine. A little more elbow room please. Other than that, highly recommend The Henley. read more
